Yes, because emptying the trash cans before we leave on vacation is totally logical. We wouldn't want them to overflow with all the trash the cat and dog come up with, right? That would just be horrible.
Actually... that trash would stink depending on how long you guys are away. And it will attract bugs. :B
Well.....in one sense, if it's a long trip, you don't want trash just sitting in the cans for a long time. It'll draw a lot of nasty bugs. Happened to me, in fact.

I have the same problem when my parents want to clean the house before people come in TO clean it.
It's actually a good idea, because it could start to smell, attract bugs, etc.
They're the ones getting paid to clean, not us!

It could attract wild animals. Trash cans that haven't been emptied or cleaned out recent, could be a sign to burglars no one is home.

I just like when my mom would make my sister and I clean up the house for a good hour or two for guests, and then greet the guests with "Sorry, the house is a little messy!" Really, Mom?
