Suggestion
I assume there would be a way to do this; whether it would require a bot I don't know. If there was something that automatically locked a topic after 30 days, then there wouldn't be the risk of reviving a topic. A lot of weight off everybody's back! It's only a suggestion. Feel free to leave your comments about it.
Weird I was just about to create a suggestion about this.
I totally support this idea

I like the Idea, but I think the revival rules could be reworked a bit...
This would also cause official topics to be closed.
But then my job wouldn't be fun
This would also cause official topics to be closed.
And all the evil topics that were granted exceptions to the revival rules by forum leaders.
Personally, I think it would be better if the old topics were hidden so they couldn't be revived like before. I don't care much - in fact, the stuff on here is made easier by having all the old topics instantly at my fingertips, but after seeing all the revivals, I'm coming down on having all the old topics past revival hidden by default.
And then I will fix the settings for myself.
If this were to go into effect, then an exception would have to be made for the library, where there is no revival rule.
I believe there is a way to automatically lock topics older than a certain date, but that would also close official topics, other topics that are allowed to be revived, pinned topics, etc. The next version of the software should resolve the issue where old topics are displayed by default and then this should become a non-issue.
