So How 'bout Those Hungry Lady Bugs?

Posted by Aderia , Oct 23 2012 · 146 views

Okay. So, I just walked my dog. Which is awesome because he's adorable and I love him. But while I was out, I got bitten by a lady bug. This is not the first time this has happened. I tell people IRL about it and they say that lady bugs -do not bite-. And argue with me (while we both kind of laugh because its funny but still an argument).

Lady bugs do bite. I dare you to tell me I'm wrong.

I haven't had one bite me, but I've had a few hundred invade my windows.

You sure they're lady bugs and not those orange creepers?

Though, I don't see why Ladybugs wouldn't bite. Then again, I also don't see why a pack of lions wouldn't put on fancy top hats and put on a spectacular tap-dancing show with canes, a stage, etc.

Take it away boys!

(hehe... In the second act, we've got penguins sliding through these hoops that we've frozen in ice. They were originally supposed to be on fire, but we figured it didn't fit with the theme)
Indigenous North American ladybugs have mouthparts too small to bite humans with. BUT, there is an invasive Asian species that was introduced into North America a few years back that does bite. They also can be tons of different colours.

The more you know.
Deevs' explanation makes sense.

I always like to pick up ladybugs and let them walk around on my finger because they're so cuuuute. <3
Drat. I wish I could say i was colorblind and wouldn't be able to know the difference. =/
The ladybugs in my area don't bite, but they do seem to invade our house during the winter. Instead of biting, they release this foul smelling stuff instead, so I guess that's their defense mechanism. Not liking the idea of biting ladybugs...

:music:
D= like stink bugs but not horribly ugly
