OOC: Perfect!
Joske from Go-Wahi
IC
[Ta-Koro gates; mid-morning]
Warmth. Heavy, repressive, hard-to-breathe warmth.
Feels great to be home.
Even at this speed the heat of the Ta-Wahi region was oppressive, and I enjoyed every minute of it; so much so I slowed down just of bask in its glory, absorb as much of it as I could. With a sigh of contentment I cut the power to my mask, watching the stretchy blur of my world snap back to properly-defined shapes and colors. It took me forever to get used to that disorientating visual stimuli, but now I found myself enjoying the light show every time I activated my mask. I suppose after a while I would get bored of it, but for now I would enjoy the little things.
So, the foot of the bridge. Seems I got here in record time. Now I would have to convince them that I WAS Toa Joske and let me-
"It's Joske!"
I blinked a few times, my foot frozen in mid-step. How did they-
"Lift the bridge!"
There was the sound of gears and cranks warming up, then one by one the pillars of stone that rested beneath the lava rose to form the bridge, molten rock and steam rising off the rock to allow travelers inside. Or in this case me specifically. As I sped across the bridge the only thing I was sure about in my confusion was the female voice that gave the order, for it was unmistakable... not to mention the person behind it.
Upon reaching the end my suspicions were confirmed.
Her name was Tuara, but don't let the name fool you. Red-bodied bombshell who was all leg and black accents in all the right places. Tall, slim, stunningly beautiful, and had the aura of authority that would keep any recruit in line. Usually we stayed out of each others way but it seemed as though this would be an exception. As she stood in the archway her casual demeanor still displayed an unusual amount of command, with further piqued my interest when I saw the rank on her shoulder armor. Huh, no kidding. This was about to get very interesting.
"Joske Nimil. It's been a while."
First, nobody ever used my last name; was considered bad form. Second, in my minds eye I saw her give a toothy grin, but the way she said that, it was... apprehensive. Boy, this homecoming was sure getting fascinating. I smiled shrewdly to make a reply, and that's when HE showed up.
I opened my mouth to say something, but like a deus ex machina out of bad play, Agni simply materialized out of thin air right behind Tuara, bending his knees slightly as he landed. He gave an amused look to a befuddled Tuara, then turned to me, no doubt enjoying the contorted face plastered across my mask. "Don't mind me. I'm just here to remind our young friend Joske here that there are some things you can't just run from. One of them being me."
What followed was a classic textbook of verbal reprimand, and there was nothing I could do but stand there and take it... right in front of the gatehouse. And everyone. Talk about embarrassing! Once he was done tearing me a new one (being ever so polite in the process, as was his usual take) he turned and looked at Tuara once more, handing her a bag that by the sound of it was filled with a stack of tablets. "If you would be so kind, have these delivered to the captain if you have the time. They're the reports that I filed but had to leave with our liaison in Ga-Koro for the past month. I am sure he will be delighted to know what me and Joske especially have been up to."
Then in a display of artistic showmanship he proved that he indeed still had what it took to keep up with me, in both speed AND flair. Walking a few steps onto the bridge leading out of the volcano, he folded his hands behind him giving and gave me a wink, his body melting into the vapor around me one beat of a heartlight later, leaving me alone on the bridge. Well.
At least now I knew HOW everyone knew who I was. Agni had been feeding them daily progress reports, per Guard regulations. Typical. I should have guess that. With really nothing left intact but my charm I smiled like a child with his hand caught in the sweets jar, shrugging my arms and raising my hands with them. I flipped the switch for my charisma.
"Hey Tuara; how's the amazon doing today? Still with Angelus I presume?" I paused for a second, enjoying the reaction. "So you gonna let me in or what?"
OOC: Oh, I'm sorry, but I just COULDN'T resist
