The parents can handle the signatures and agreements and things if the proposal was created in their name. If not, then that causes problems, because some younger users might sign up and create proposals without realizing that their parents will be receiving all the royalties for their designs. And TLG doesn't want to have a proposal get through only to then deny it on the basis of the user not being able to work things out with their parents. Better to require that they work things out with their parents ahead of time and have their parents post the proposal to avoid that possibility. The 18+ rule has a bit of warped logic there. After all, what are parents for? They could handle the signatures and agreements and stuff the kid is too young for. And just when I was about to put my MOCs up there... But by theme, do they mean licensed themes, or general Lego themes?
I think by "theme" they just mean "no proposal is going to be made into a full theme of sets". Proposals that require a license, like for instance a proposal of the time-travelling DeLorean from the movie Back to the Future, will still be allowed, but other proposals (like the Bring Back BIONICLE proposal probably, or proposals for licensed themes) will have to be changed to proposals for sets.
At least, that's my understanding of this. Truth be told I can't find any info on this supposed "change". Can anyone link to where they found this info?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found in a proposal's comments. Should be a blog entry once they've completely worked out the details. It's good that they're informing fans of this in advance even when they're still getting things figured out. It gives people time to consider their options.

Your pretty much right Aanchir. I believe the staff said if you suggest an original theme you get 1% of the profits. If you suggest a liscence LEGO already has you get some money. If you suggest a new liscence you get nothing. So if some projects do make 10,000 for example back to the future he would unfortunately get nothing due to the new rules. @Chaos Makuta You can post your MOCs up there you just need to have your parents to create an account with their personal information not yours. I hope to see you on CUUSOOThe parents can handle the signatures and agreements and things if the proposal was created in their name. I don't know what I'm going to do, though. My entire project is a theme idea.I think by "theme" they just mean "no proposal is going to be made into a full theme of sets". Although, Tim did say that I didn't have any reason to worry, so maybe they've reworked the idea into something completely different. The blog entry is supposed to be coming sometime today, so I hope it'll be all right.

However little known the feelings or views of such a heroine may be on her first entering a canon, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding shippers that she is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their favourite male characters.

It also looks like they're getting rid of "bring back"s. The Bionicle project's a goner, then.

Well, looks like I was wrong about the Minecraft thing. I'm glad that LC is able to give its fanbase some good news for once.

It's just as well. We cannot bring back a theme on raw nostalgia; we need an actual proposal that will work.

A new topic? The reason I bumped this was to avoid making a new one. I hope I am understanding you right. I am curious to see what TLG's verdict will be on Shaun of the Dead. This will definately put their violence policy to the test.....Well,since you revived the topic,we're going to need a new one.

Sorry for bumping this thread and double posting, but it has been a while and CUUSOO has improved alot since. To avoid plagiarism and spam projects LEGO now moderates every project before it is improved and published. Whenever you support a project a list of related projects comes up. The staff have more time to comment and give advice to projects also. Also just recently the Winchester Shaun of the Dead project reached 10,000 and is currently in review. I would also like to know how many BZPers are on CUUSOO. I would like to see you there!
As per this topic and the Lego Discussion Rules & Guidelines, please do not post in topics that have been inactive for 30 days or more:
6. No topic revival past 30 days since the latest post.
Furthermore, as per the BZPower Rules and Guidelines, please do not double post:
Do not double post. Posting two or more times in a row is not necessary. There is an edit button for all posts you make, and it should be used. Double posting is a waste of bandwidth, and the rule against it will be heavily enforced. There are exceptions to this in certain forums. Be sure to thoroughly read each forum's rules before you even consider double posting.
Well, since you revived the topic,we're going to need a new one.
Next time, please simply report the topic rather than posting. Thanks!
Topic revived; topic closed.
