Back in November we shared that the LEGO Design byME service was coming to an end. Today we received word that the Hero Recon Team Recon Hero Builder will be suffering the same fate. You'll still be able to design your heroes online, but you won't be able to have LEGO ship them to you anymore. Read on for the full details.

Darn. Well, I ran into some money recently, so I just may get one while I can.
Why are orange and black such a good color Combination ? Purple is pretty, and so is blue. Pink hurts your eyes, green is quite mellowing, black is very threatning, red is cool, orange is SO awesome, yellow's hard to read... But you can't see white at all! Oh, wait. I forgot brown.
Here's my thoughts: If a person tells the truth and says, " I always lie," Is he lying? Or is he telling the truth? And what has a mouth, but no head, and a body, but no torso? Do caterpillars like to tend to supporting colum of stone's every need? Or is that name misleading by nature? Speaking of nature, why are the children of animals called offspring? don't many young beasts come alive in spring, and thus, should be called onspring? Heeeeeeyy..... I got the first post on a page for the first time. Who knows; it may happen again. What the... It did happen again... and again...

The 3D version of the HERO Creator sounds highly interesting, to say the least. Personally, I feel it´s about time for an LDD web browser plug-in for online viewing of LXF files, so I wonder if this coud be a first step in that direction. Sad to see the ordering service go, as it was a neat idea, but I feel the upcoming changes could be a big improvement of HRT.

That´s the point. You can still order a decent variety of pieces with the Pick-a-Brick service, though.If Lego makes this new Digital Hero Builder, will we not be able to buy our own Hero?

There are still things they could do to set it apart from LDD. Even now, you can use heroes from HRT in the "Mission: Ordeal of Fire" and "Mission: Savage Planet" games, which you can't do with LDD models. I'm personally hoping the new 3-D Hero Builder will have some sort of interactive feature like letting you see a basic animation of your Hero-- something like the Bohrok-Kal promo CDs where the Bohrok Kal would have an "idling" animation in one of the menus.well that would just make it a limited LDD...
At the same time, I am a bit worried about it becoming too much like LDD, since that would make it irrelevant. I'm wondering if they might plan on tying the new Hero Creator to the upcoming social-networking-related project Advance mentioned on their website (linked in an earlier news article). They must have plans for it, or there's no reason they'd get rid of the part that actually makes them money and then spend money upgrading the part that doesn't do so as directly.

Shame about that shipping. I never took advantage of that myself, but I imagine many people who did are disappointed by the removal of that function.
