So, is it?

I know the topic of homosexuality has always been hotly debated on BZP whenever brought up, but I've checked the rules for Epics, Short Stories, Comedies, and even COT and none of them say it is against the rules to write a fanfic featuring homosexual characters or characters of the same sex kissing or anything like that.

Now I figure, if it is allowed, it goes under the same rules as heterosexual romance (i.e. no graphic sex), but I need to know for sure what the BZP administration's stance on this is, 'cause I plan to post a story sometime featuring two characters of the same gender kissing and I need to know if that is allowed or not. The rules say nothing against it, but I just want to make sure there aren't any unwritten rules that forbid it for whatever reason.

Not trying to ruffle anybody's feathers or anything. Simply looking for clarification so I don't get in trouble.

I remember back on the old forums, stories with same-gender romance were banned after a lot of controversy. However, some time after that, I saw a story with that sort of romance in the COT forum, posted by a staff member. I think as long as it's just romance, no preaching or anything like that, it should be fine.

Yes, it's allowed.

And yes, same rules apply.

As far as I remember, the real controversy came in the forms of sigs. So yes, even though your story will probably cause some split feelings in your fans.

Homosexual romance in stories was banned on the old forum long before the signature controversy. In the downtime, that perceived double standard was rectified.

Heterosexual and homosexual romance are treated equally on BZPower. Both are allowed to be expressed, depicted, and described, as long as things are kept clean, as you said. Having two characters kiss would break no rules, written or unwritten.
