For those of you who have been here a while (or not), what's the history of your avatar?

Mine is from the movie "Metropolis," but it's really just a placeholder. I used to have a different avatar, which I've had some variation of since 2003:

I got the original version from a guy whose claim to fame was making "Anti-Dark" versions of the images you gave him (Areo Crunch, if any of you remember him); the basis for my avatar was my BBC #10 entry, but it's impossible to really see in there. I still don't know which parts are which.

Around 2008, I stuck it in the circular loading screen from the MNOLG and added a little sparkly .gif action, and believe me, I was looking wicked-rad. Unfortunately, it doesn't look good on the new boards because avatars have these little borders around them now. So admins, get on that, I suppose. No more oppression under the cruel borders of our avatars!

The history of my current avatar is this.

My "signature" avatar(this(which I didn't make and take zero credit for)) I found on Google because Cofagrigus is cool and stuff.

Also, this used to be my avatar awhile back. It was my self-MOC's head. So there's that history.

It changed a lot on the old forums, and that was even before I added the rotator.

Now that I can't use it, though, I first switched to a picture of myself that I edited to look like my Homestuck fantroll (still in use as my staff picture). Then I used an adorable picture of Derpy Hooves from The Last Roundup. Now I have the "Mare in the Moon" from my "Three Derpy Moon" pic, one of my first few vector attempts.

My avatar is the notorious Brendan 'Double B' Brady from UK soap Hollyoaks.

And that is completely meaningless to everyone, I know. But he's just ace.

I used to have Lhikan for a while, from the image on the back of the sets box. It was a nice avatar.

First, it started in school. I made a symbol for myself in the general format of a Matoran letter. Actually, the inspiration for that was the head of a cartoon robot I once drew. Then I added flames and an eyeball, and nobody knows what the karz it is anymore.

If I remember right, I used the UDD symbol from the base gallery, the thumbnail for the Nuju Hordika flash animation on BIONICLE.com () and a Turaga Nokama avatar from the base gallery.

Until early 2007 when I switched to this one, created with the MNOG Style Creation Kit to fit with my one-year Vahi spinny.
Shortly before getting my two-year Avohkii spinny, I switched to this one, also made with the same kit. Sometime in 2007 or 2008 I switched to this one temporarily because everyone used avatars with their name and its first letter on the foreground for some reason:
Shortly before obtaining my three-year Huna spinny, I switched to this one, same kit again.
I changed it shortly before getting my four-year spinny but the new one was basically the same, just a bit darker. I kept it until shortly before (I´m getting tired of saying that ) getting my five-year spinny, where I switched to a new concept. The new one was a two-coloured Hau made with the shape from the Templar animations. I don´t have it uploaded anywhere as I used it for only three months, so see my staff photo from that time using it, although it had better quality in the forums and was obviouly smaller. I used a rotator between a red and a blue Hau in profile for a very short time.
Eventually I decided for this one which should be familiar to all of you and which I kept until recently, where I switched to the glory of an intertwined stylized letters G and T with gradient from red on the left to blue on the right on a white background.

I don't even remember how many avatars that I had, I cannot precisely remember in what order I had them.

My current avatar is my character as drawn by Brickeens because he's just awesome like that. This is a cleaner version - with colorized eyes - as opposed to an earlier grayscale version.

It is mildly epic in my opinion, and many thanks to Rayg for the kit that I used to make it.

Unfortunately it's too small for the new forums, or at least it was in October, I haven't checked. I'm happy enough with my new Avatar, which I did myself a couple of years back on MS Paint, and used as my profile pic on the Expanded Multiverse site. Altered the background before bringing it here, so that the background was something like British Racing Green, because British Racing Green is awesome. The pattern of the lines in the background is supposed to be reminiscent of the anomaly map out of Primeval, but it's a bit poorly done.

I believe I started with an Avatar that consisted of a picture of the Metru-Nui Archives with the Matoran letter "P" over it. I then switched to a picture of trees with the Matoran "P" still over it. Shortly after that I changed my Avatar to the same "P" with a background of moss. Then came the puffin that makes up my avatar today, although between that point and now, I had this awesome avatar that Brickeens drew me. I switched back to the puffin around the time I became a staff.

I used to cycle through avatars related to things that I was most interested in.

For example:

Sasuke's Mangekyou Sharingan
Kiva Emperor Form from Kamen Rider Kiva

I know I've used most often:

Darth Bane

But there's many more I've used in recent years, and they're all conveniently in my majhost gallery.

My current avatar originated from a "Blog Seal of Approval" made for me by the member currently known as THE BENELUX TOTOISE. I was going through my blog a few months ago, looking at all of the old entries, when I found the one about seals. I thought it'd be perfect for remaking into an avatar, so I did.

I remember a long, long time ago I had Ivan from Golden Sun as my avatar. (More accurately I uploaded a wallpaper of him and let the board resize it - what can I say, I was like 11.) Then I remember when I briefly returned in 2006 I updated my avatar to Phoenix Wright as he appears in Apollo Justice; then when I returned (for good?) early last year I made it a sprite of Miles Edgeworth (and later Gregory Edgeworth) from Ace Attorney Investigations sipping tea. Once we hit the new forums, I opted for a larger image of Gregory doing his "whoops, messed that one up" face, and then a few months ago I changed it to Ray (also from AAI2) looking mildly panicked with his notebook, because if I had to place a guess as to my current state of mood at any given moment I'd probably say mildly panicked.

So... to make a long story short, the theme here is Ace Attorney, and it's pretty much going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

I've gone through quite a few avatars. I used to change my avatar with name changes, and then I just started changing it on a whim; in recent times, I've wanted to stick with one av for a while, but that hasn't really worked out. I always find something else that I want to use.

Anyway, let's see how many old avatars I can dig up.

Kongu sprite- This was my first avatar, which I ordered from a shop when I first started using BZPower as "Kongu11."

Plushie Kongu- Made with the Plushie Generator, which was one of the coolest things I had seen on the internet at the time.

Santa hat plushie Kongu- Another Plushie Generator image, this time edited in Paint to be Christmas-themed.

Stick Kongu- I really liked the Bionistick kit, so I made an avatar with it (conveniently provided in the spritesheets was a box to make an avatar in =P). I was actually very happy with that backgorund.

Yoshi art the first- Yoshi character art from Yoshi Topsy Turvy (which I've never actually played). I used this while I was "The Great Yoshi." I made this (and the next one) with GIMP before I really knew how to use the program, so the cutting isn't good and the background is simple. Not an altogether bad avatar, though.

Yoshi art the second- Used while I was "The Arctic Yoshi", this one was from Yoshi's Island DS. Like the one before, the cutting is bad, but it's not too visible.

Yoshi sprite- I made this one when I used the name "Snow Yoshi"; the white pixels were meant to be snow, I suppose.

Freezie- I think I might have used the name "Freezie" just to use this avatar; I actually forgot that I used that name, and to be honest I wish I still didn't remember. Around this time I didn't have a common username to use, so I just flipped around with whatever came to mind. The avatar is just

My worst username ("Koko: the Yoshi Guy"-what was I thinking?) doesn't seem to have an avatar associated with it anywhere. I might have gone back to one of those older Yoshi avatars for that.

King Dedede sprite- Just a sprite of King Dedede on a white background that I used while I was "King Dedede" (surprising, no?). Not much to see, and since I made something like five posts while I had this name, it's probably the least worthwhile avatar I've used.

Banana- This went with the name "Banana Split." It was made by editing clip-art in Word, a practice which just about every school I've been to has worked into their computer classes.

Around this time, I went inactive for a while. Interestingly, that was around the time that BZP had one of its longer downtimes, but I was only half aware of it because I seldom tried to access the forums. Eventually I came back, though, and I started changing my avatar more.

Pineapple-The first av I used as "The Tropical Fruit," made in the same way as the banana av.

Waving sprite- While I was "The Tropical Fruit," I changed the sprite that I used in comics, and when I changed my name to "Ziko," I made this avatar with it. It's one of my earlier gifs, as you can probably tell by the shaking; it's supposed to be waving.

Color-changing sprite- I stuck my sprite form into some sort of online image editor and got this. Kind of interesting.

Kermit the Frog- I used this one for over a year, the longest I've used an avatar while staying active. It's a pretty fun av, and it's one of those that people would bring up in avatar-centric topics. I still like this, but I wouldn't be able to use it now because photo thumbnails aren't animated.

Mr. Poe- An illustration of Mr. Poe from A Series of Unfortunate Events. I wanted a black and white avatar, and I liked the look of this particular image.

Dressed-up Hobbes- From a Calvin and Hobbes Sunday comic which shows the pair getting ready to go out to eat. The av is from the last panel where they're actually in the restaurant with Calvin's parents.

Tiger Calvin- This is the last avatar I used on the old forums, which is from the Calvin and Hobbes story arc where Calvin is transmogrified into a tiger.

At this point, the forum went down for the upgrade. I used a larger version of the Tiger Calvin avatar while the forum was offline, but I eventually couldn't use it because it wasn't big enough to change my profile picture (that problem's been fixed, but there have been other avs to use since). I also started uploading avatars that weren't squares so my profile picture would be slightly different than my in-forum avatar.

Sanctum guard- One of the sanctum guards from MNOLG. This is the avatar I used when the forums first came back, but I didn't post much during that time.

Bowser Jr.- This is a screenshot from a Super Mario Sunshine cutscene. I felt like using an avatar from the game, and this one stood out.

Le-Wahi- This is also from MNOLG; I liked how it looked, and I wanted to use an avatar that wasn't a picture of a specific character.

Scooby in disguise- From the Scooby-Doo: Where Are You! episode "Which Witch is Which," when Scooby and Shaggy are trying to hide from a zombie.

Lucy's psychiatric booth- I used this for the name "Pantophobia," since the first thing I thought of that related to the word was the Peanuts scene.

The 10,000 Volt Ghost- From "Watt a Shocking Ghost," an episode of The Scooby-Doo Show, which I used while my name was "The 10 000 Volt Ghost" (surprise, surprise). I liked this one, so I kept it when my name was changed back to "Ziko."

And there you have it--my avatar history. Being the indecisive person that I am, I've uploaded several other avatars to majhost over the years, but I either never used them or only used them for a few minutes while I was thinking about avatar changes. However, I doubt anyone is interested in seeing all of those (or even the stuff I posted), so I'll leave this post with the main ones. =P

I didn't have an avatar on the old boards. No need IMO. But when I saw how the new boards worked, I knew I had to get something. So I tried to moderator a shot of Teridax...LOL:



Needless to say, I gave up. Instead, I pulled out an image that I had built in a PNG drawer back when as background for an epic banner. The downtime rendered the epic obsolete, so I resourcefully repurposed, rendering my my current avatar.

My current avater is...nothing! (I really haven't bothered to look for an avatar in a while, since I kind of like how the current image looks now.)

Before the downtime, though, I used to have a Nidoking avatar for a while. I then changed it to a shiny Nidoking avatar.

Then the downtime hit, and I lost any inerest in getting a new avatar when they came back.

I used to change my avatar a lot, well I still do. xD

but usually it's a self-made image. I think there are only about 3 or four avatars in there which were taken from a different image. x3

Especially over the past one or two years I decided to only use my own drawings for banners and avatars.
What's new though is that lately I've been using images that do not depict my OC/alter ego. But I guess the change is actually quite interesting. ^^

Okay, from as far back as I can remember, I was using images from my three favourite video game series, NieR, Yakuza and Onimusha. Then I used a drawing of my own of a Vortixx, but when everyone thought it was a Rahkshi-Shark (Sharkshi?) I decided it'd probably be best to leave that aside.

Now, I use individual panels from my favourite webcomic series of all time, Pictures For Sad Children. The melancholic pessimism and deadpan delivery of surrealistic ideas is enthralling and has aided me in going through all 400 comics many, many times. I decided to take some of the most avatar-worthy panels for myself, which I believe are capable of summing up both the comic and occasionally my own morose thoughts. Yay.

I originally had Takua as my Avi pre-downtime, then when we came back I went through a multitude of different things, and I can't remember them all. I know that one was the Fallen from Dreamwave's War Within series, and another was Takua standing in a beam of light from the MNOLG.

At the moment, it's the MNOLG-style version of my 'main' BZPRPG character, Trakuda, and I intend it to stay that way for a while. I changed it slightly so he was holding an Easter Egg over Easter, and I have more holiday-themed variations planned, including a Movember version

There are a lot more, but I can't find them. Most of the ones that are missing were pictures of penguins or something. Though for a while, I didn't actually use an avatar.

My most iconic one was probably the one with a penguin with the surprised face thing. It was my DP for the longest time. I had it in new BZP before changing to the Legend of Zelda one. Now I have this one.

My first avatar was an image of Krakua to fit with Krakua91, my original username. Then I changed to a pic of an infected Hau after my name change to Makuta Dralcax. Then, I got a Mahalis spinning mask, a half gold, half infected Hau. Then, when I launched my comics, I changed it to a vibrating sprite with a reversing gradient animation. Then the downtime occured. I then used a pic of ZEXAL Power Yuma Tsukumo, humorously referred to as Super Saiyan Yuma, and then, with my name change to Chaos Makuta Dralcax, I used a Deoxys edit with an outer space pattern hiding all but the important features and the outline. Then I changed to this.

I never used to change it very much. Before I made one for myself, I used the Vahki one that BZPower has as one of the preset choices for the longest of times. When I got real big on Hero Factory, I changed to this custom one I made:



Then I got bored of making custom ones, so I now use basic pictures of myself that I also use on pretty much every other website.

@Smeag: Always loved the Grace Kelly one, as well as Dark Side of the Moon. I recall the super hero one (aka the one which you had that also featured the female super hero Nikira had as your counterpart, picture is just split), that was waaay back, though.

I've changed my avatar roughly once every two months since I joined in 2003. I've had so many that I have a special folder on my computer for avatars; there's like almost 100 avatars in there. They're usually something from a Disney movie or anime or some other cartoon I like/liked. In the beginning, I had an avatar of Jaller and Hahli wearing the orange flowers on their masks from that one Bohrok Kal flash updates; I really liked that one a lot.
