The BIONICLEsector01 Podcast is a Wiki Staff audio-show, and the top-rated BIONICLE podcast!

All the episodes are available for download on iTunes, as well as direct links on this page, so all you'll have to do is download the episode you want and click the play button. Leave it playing and go about your work on the Wiki, surf the net, clean your room, or blare it for your whole household to hear. Just don't tell your family that we encourage that kind of behavior.
You don't have to be a member of BS01 or anywhere else to enjoy the show, you just need to be a BIONICLE fan.

I haven't checked much of it out. What kinds of stuff is discussed related to LEGO now that the BIONICLE line is over?

Not Hero Factory because they don't like Hero Factory

Ideally it still works because the story is still technically ongoing, but it's been pretty stagnant as of late, so that has affected how things go. But there's always SOMETHING to talk about.

Hey, we mention Hero Factory more than any other line besides BIONICLE.

And yeah, we mostly just talk about the storyline that has already happened. We don't really focus on news all that much.

By the way, how do you guys record them? I'm interested in that. I mean, you all can't be in the same place, so is it like an internet conversation or something? It seems pretty cool that you do that.

I'm guessing they use Skype, but do you record yourselves, or just have one person recording the conversation?

Because from what I've heard, recording yourself gives better sound quality than someone else recording.

If it's Skype, they must have a really good internet connection, because it's hard to get it to sound great.

Anyways, I listened to a few, and one of them sounded like you guys were really bored, but the other was kind of interesting. I forgot which ones they were though.

We use skype, and one person runs a recorder program specifically designed for skype calls. The quality is pretty good, though when editing it in audacity I remove background static. Some of the hosts *cough*cholie*cough* come out quieter, so I also amplify them while editing.

I'd say that my favorite episode is the most recent episode, because we have a lot of funny discussions about various stuff, plus it has the audio transitions. Go check that one out.

Ah, I was thinking that you would probably edit them, but I was thinking of something more like Adobe Audition, but Audacity makes sense and is pretty good. I'll download them off of iTunes withing the next week, because I want to also check out the BZPower app. I'm also going to download the Hero Factory FM podcasts, so I'll definitely get to it soon.

Skype reeeally needs a 1st party recording feature. >.> But yeah the program we use works well enough.

You are on the list of potential guest stars. At some point I will contact you on skype and see if you can be on the show.

And speaking of guest stars, guest stars will start appearing on the show in the next episode. For the first two episodes I did I didn't have guest stars, mostly because I was getting used to preparing for a show and stuff. Now I'm ready to allow them though.

How long is the average podcast, because the two that I've listened to are extremely long.

Average podcast length is about 50 minutes. I've been thinking to suggest we do a two part podcast run, put features between them and release them as two podcasts, 30 minutes in length.

However, most podcasts I listened to are about the same length, if not longer. Think talk radio, without commercials. That'd be the same length as what we're doing.

I checked out the website for the BS01 podcast today. It's a nice site, and I see that it is hosted by WordPress. I tried to log into it using my WordPress account though, but was unable to get it to work. Is that for some reason, or was I just forgetting my account password?

Swert showed me this last night. I sort of cheated though, because I opened it with an add-on of mine (FireFTP), and I just went to the end of the directory and found where the podcast was. I listened to it for a moment as QuickTime slowed my computer down (I had a ton of processes going ), but I got bored.

I said to Swert:

...that's like a gig of server space just to holder 3 million directories leading to one big mp3 with you guys talking about random stuff

I think it was the right choice not to put this one on iTunes. New listeners could DL episode 0 to try out the show and get a bad first impression just by being lost and not having the connection with the hosts that makes it interesting.

What you can do is download the MP3, and in iTunes click File > Add File to Library > Select episode 0 > Import. It will show up in your music section, but you can put it on your iPod just like a podcast and delete it when you're done. =)
