If I don't have as much time, I open the bags in order (if they have an order). Mostly if I have time, though, I just dump all the bags into one huge pile. :P

That's assuming I build the set at all.

Bag by bag is the way I always build. Just seems like the simplest way.

If the set has multiple bags, I tend to keep piles of what was in each bag. But if it's something simple like a small Hero Factory set (like Evo 2.0, for example) I'll probably not use the instructions. :P

I'm super OCD, I open one bag at a time and I have the word lego on each stud face the same direction.

I pour out the bags (separately) into a shallow container so none of the pieces can get away.

It was then that everything fit together in my head. The two clawed beast. The Two Claws. The dual-claw marks. That all was easy. Then I realized something harder to grasp -  because the beast was inter-phasal, it could also travel through time, to an extent. The Two Claws wasn’t fiction, it was true. There was someone else like me, in the past. I continued blinking rapidly and turned back to the beast.

“What do you want?” I demanded.

The beast stood up a bit straighter and looked directly at me. A terrifying voice came from it as it answered.

“You and the girl. Both. You are abnormalities and must be dealt with.”

I usually open all of the bags, put the stuff in a pile, and then follow the instructions. I usually end up with a few extra pieces, but that's all right.

I go bag-by-bag, following the instructions. I'll occasionally just dump all the pieces together if it's a smaller set.

Basically this.

Same here, though occasionally I dump all the bags into one pile.

All joking aside, bag-by-bag, through the instructions.

If it's a small set, I just dump it out and build it with a mix of guesswork and instructions, but with larger sets, like, say, the T-1 Typhoon, I sort everything first, by color, and then follow the instructions to the letter.

I build my sets one piece at a time, just like everybody else. only I do it logically.
(if you must know, yes I will continue this until i get bored with it.)

I just dump the parts onto the table or something and immediately start building it. It may not be the best strategy because some parts could get lost underneath the other parts.

I used to do that, but now I just go bag by bag.

That's what I did with the 2012 Star Wars Skiff.

Very carefully. But really, I mostly just dump everything on the floor and start building. However, when I build things with my brother I just sort the peices while he actually builds.

I take it you've never built the Axalara or the like :P ?

I used to pile all of the pieces, but now I go bag by bag. It makes big sets a lot easier.

Well, I have the Axalara and the Thornatus. A couple of my other larger sets would have been a mystery without the directions.

When I was younger, I tried to keep the set in whatever pose was in the directions. I miss how pretty the 2001 manuals looked...

*dumps out parts into huge pile*

*pays little brother a shiny quarter and some minifigures to play with to organize by color*

*looks at box and challenges self to build without instructions*

The third part is the most difficult, but it works fairly often. Unless it's Technic...then I end up being a large yellow blob of nothing.

Dump each bag out, then I work around. This always works.

Well... I remember this one time, way back when, when I got the original Millenium Falcon set from 1999. I was much younger at the time, and I decided to dump every bag into one huge pile. Yeah, that was a mistake, but I had a ton of fun, if some amount of frustration, sitting there for 4 hours straight building it.

Nowadays, when the bags are numbered, which they often are, I guess I generally don't open bag 2 until I've finished bag 1, unless I feel like it. Other than that, and when the bags aren't numbered, I open all the bags at once, but keep the piles seperated. Then I put 'em together, piece by piece.

Everyone seems to be saying that Star Wars Episode VII is going to be lousy. If you're part of the 8% (or whatever percentage it is) who still cling to the hope that it will be awesome (which mostly hinges on the question of getting Hamill, Fisher, and Ford back) then may the force be with you.

Happy Star Wars Day. (as of May 4th)

short stories - Dancing With Shadows - Lonesome Spirits - The Golden Mask - Bionicle Hero

Epic - The Protar Chronicles (on hiatus right now, unfortunately)
