OH YEAH!
My grandfather is a fan of the Lone ranger, from what I know. And the pictures look awesome, too.

I'm really quite surprised. This...just didn't seem like a movie Lego would license, for some reason.
It sure looks awesome, though. Heck, when I saw this, I was immediately compelled to go watch the trailer again. That's definitely a good sign.
And, on a side note, I believe this makes Johnny Depp the third actor to have two of his characters released in minifigure form (with the first two being Harrison Ford and Alfred Molina, so he's in good company).
"Songs that the Hyades shall sing, / Where flap the tatters of the King, / Must die unheard in / Dim Carcosa."
ALL HAIL THE KING IN YELLOW!
ALL HAIL THE LORD OF CARCOSA!
ALL HAIL THE UNSPEAKABLE ONE!
Previous names include Great Cthulhu and The Main Man.

Aw, yeah, the Wild West! Even though I have never heard of the Lone Ranger before, I'm gonna totally like this line!

Interesting. I would've never guessed that the Lone Ranger movie would get Lego sets based off it. Who knows what else will have Lego sets in the future.

I've been hoping for a new western line for a long time now, but I think I'd prefer for it to be an original theme rather than a licensed one. Oh well.

Alfred Molina actually has three versions of himself in minifigure form. Orlando Bloom also has two (Legolas/Will Turner), which makes Johnny Depp the fourth. Or higher. I lost track with the huge influx of licensed themes we've had.

I predict that this theme will last for three months.

I predict that this theme will last for three months.
Why? I think the concept is great for LEGO. It really needed a good western.

Because there'll be an explosion of sales when the movie comes out, and then one month later it'll drop dramatically.
My backing for the statement? Speed Racer, Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars 2, Toy Story, and Harry Potter.

I feel like this theme was mentioned by someone who got their hands on the retailer's catalog late this summer. Could be wrong, though. ![]()

Another license theme? As if Legos weren't expensive enough, and I won't even mention at Toys R Us...

Talk about sick jokes.
But the Lone Ranger sets should prove to be awesome if the movie itself has some interesting environments for Lego to recreate in brick form!

Looks to be just another cash-in that'll vanish as soon as the movie leaves theatres.

Anyways, glad to see a new western line is coming out, even if it is a license of a rebooted IP. We've been waiting far too long for this.

It really depends on what you mean by "last" three months. It's true that it's going to probably have just one wave unless a) the sets sell tremendously well (not really anticipating that personally) or b) the movie is very successful, in which case there will be a non-consecutive wave to tie in with the sequel. But if you're talking about expected shelf life, I'd give this theme at least a year, the same as with any other theme.

I agree, though, that this simply won't have the power to move merchandise the way franchises firmly rooted in today's popular culture like Star Wars and Spongebob Squarepants have done. And that, no matter how good the movie turns out, will be a major hindrance to a LEGO theme's potential.
Then again, not sure why you listed Cars 2 there, since there were two full waves of Cars 2 sets (one to tie in with the movie, and one wave the next year). Same with Harry Potter in its most recent incarnation.

For some reason it won't let me open the link. It says that it has "resulted in too many redirects".

Well, I can see what you mean with all of them, other than Harry Potter. The Harry Potter theme, while, yes, coming in waves with the releases of the movies, it has still come back in 4 (?) re-incarnations. So I wouldn't list that one.
Behold, Toa Ka'tru! Sprite made by Strack. Click picture to go to his sprite shop. Avatar by CeeCee.
It was then that everything fit together in my head. The two clawed beast. The Two Claws. The dual-claw marks. That all was easy. Then I realized something harder to grasp - because the beast was inter-phasal, it could also travel through time, to an extent. The Two Claws wasn’t fiction, it was true. There was someone else like me, in the past. I continued blinking rapidly and turned back to the beast.
“What do you want?” I demanded.
The beast stood up a bit straighter and looked directly at me. A terrifying voice came from it as it answered.
“You and the girl. Both. You are abnormalities and must be dealt with.”

Nuts. So is this spoiler discussion again or what?Apparently the site was not supposed to go live yet and LEGO has taken down the web site.

Does it really count as a spoiler now that the entire internet possibly knows about it?

That's the thing about spoilers and leaked content: it doesn't matter how many people know about it, it's still leaked. Large portions of the community online may be talking about this, but if Lego asks us to take it down -as they may not have wanted it revealed or discussed yet- then we choose to respect their wishes by doing so and closing discussion. Note that this hasn't happened yet; it's sort of an awkward situation in the meantime. It doesn't matter what everyone else is doing because that's just peer pressure on a large scale.

There we go, clarification straight from the boss himself. Thanks! No, the big thing that posed an issue was the presence of the teaser image. Apparently Disney did not want that released at this time. Discussion of the theme is fine, but any images are currently considered leaked.
