For now, this is what I've got -
Name: Levacius Vi’Targon (Levacius, Storm of Targon); aka the Griffon
Gender: Male
Species: Toa of Lightning
Kanohi: Powerless Mask of Sensory Aptitude. It may have once held power, but after so much time it is too badly damaged to have any more power reserves. It is made from stronger material than most, and provides the same protection as a helmet.
Appearance: Levacius stands at average height for a Toa, with white armoring. He wears a scarred and otherwise damaged Kanohi Hau with a grey coloration. Other than his basic Toa armoring, he doesn’t make use of any additional apparel as an identifier.
Powers: Elemental Powers of Lightning. Levacius is a very, very old and very, very skilled wielder of his element, having tens of thousands of years of practice to perfect his technique. Almost anything that relates to electricity, he can do if he puts enough focus into it.
Abilities: Levacius has a very well disciplined mind that provides him mental shielding, and as such cannot be affected by mind affecting psychic attacks, attempts to control him, or unwanted telepathic intrusions. He is a skilled swordsman and tactician; a master of battle and leading others into it. He speaks at least nine languages.
Weaknesses: Levacius possesses the hand-eye coordination and overall combat skills of his better days, but that doesn’t mean they’re not behind him. In the department of physical strength and overall endurance, he has already begun to show signs that it’s fading. He’s also overconfident, which means he’ll willingly take on threats that may be beyond his ability.
Occupations: At the present time, Levacius is the owner of a small library in Central City. Though small, it is the largest in the city, due to the rapid replacement of books with technological based writings. There are numerous displays, crates, chests and the like containing old relics and the like. In truth, though, Levacius’ little library goes well beyond that…
Personality: Levacius is quick, brilliant, and inspiring. He can also be snarky and overconfident, but he has a reason – he’s been alive for some ninety thousand years, and he’s not dead yet. Overall, he’s a pretty good person, if a bit spontaneous when something sets him off.
History: Levacius has quite a bit of history, and has served many roles. The first was one of the head scientists of the Barraki leader, Pridak, after leaving his first home in Metru-Nui. He went into hiding shortly before the League was defeated on the Northern Continent, and there served in the military of the small kingdom of Targon. He eventually became a Toa, and took complete power over the kingdom. His rule ended due to the Brotherhood of Makuta before his rule took control of the entire continent, but he did manage to have two-thirds of it.
The former warlord went into hiding, and became a smuggler. He eventually captained his own ship. Over time, his goals began to change a little, and his ship evolved from a smuggling ship to what could best be described as a bunch of criminals who also liked saving small civilizations from eldritch abominations.
Levacius and his crew battled against the Brotherhood of Makuta when they took over the universe. After the Matoran Universe was destroyed, they split ways. Levacius settled down to become a bookstore owner.
At least, that’s what it appears happened.
The truth is a little more complicated. For close to two hundred years, Levacius has been going from place to place with other individuals and his former crew, venturing beyond the safe borders of Spherus Magna and finding threats to it that they specialized in – the more arcane or unexplainable ones, many of which were sealed away in the Matoran Universe by the Great Beings, or had seeped in when Mata-Nui landed on other worlds, or were created there.
The most recent disturbance is definitely a disturbing one. Over the last few years, all but a few of Levacius’ old friends and companions have been murdered or simply vanished without a trace, and both he and the others have had no luck discerning how and why this is happening. He intends to find out.
Addendum (Equipment): Levacius always carries with him his twin blades Vionu-Sitari (‘Greater Storm of the Earth’; a longsword) and Vionu-Sitir (‘Lesser Storm of the Earth’; a shortsword). The blades are both double edged and seem crafted of protosteel, possessing all properties of that substance (other than the fact that nothing seems able to elementally manipulate, and they’re seemingly indestructible). The blades act as Toa Tools for those with elemental lightning powers, and amplify electricity that is directed through them. They are covered in runes that grow blue when the weapons are used this way, and glow red when they are crossed together, which causes them to absorb electrical energy in the area and charge themselves. The pommels are shaped like the heads of Lava Hawks, with medium sized topazes placed in the eye sockets.
In addition to these weapons, Levacius has numerous weapons of multiple types (almost anything from 4000 BC to 1900 AD in real-world times) locked away under his library. There are two rooms with weaponry; the first, a secret chamber with legally registered, and the other much more secret chamber attached to it with the unregistered ones.
Don’t discount all of his books, either. One of those books that Levacius holds is a secret tome from the Matoran Universe known as the Codex of the Summoner, which contains the incantations needed to summon certain otherworldy creatures (though a Kanohi Zaath is needed to use it this way). The creature summoned is up to GM determination, in case a being equipped with that mask gets a hold of it, though the intended beast is also to be noted.
A more practical use for the Codex is the one Levacius used it for, which is the opposite. By speaking the correct incantations, one holding the Codex can place a binding ritual on anything from a universe other than the Matoran Universe or native to Spherus Magna, whilst others can banish them back. Certain characters in the future may appear who can be weakened, sealed, and the like by using the Codex.
Name: Suicavel, Lord of the Undead
Gender: Male (?)
Species: Kra-Toa
Kanohi: Suicavel seems to have a mutated head, along which is fused a mask that appears closer to the head of a Rahkshi than an actual Kanohi. The mask is shattered apart at numerous places, and red light shines from these cracks.
Appearance: Suicavel is a horrible abomination. The best way to describe his based appearance is a black armored Toa with the mask mentioned above. Then, give the creature an additional four legs, which it can morph and deform to stand on either two or four at a time. Add spikes, a hunched over appearance, and what appears to be laboratory tubes wrapping across its body and you’re complete – almost. Suicavel is constantly covered in a shroud of shadow energy, from which only a few beams of red energy can be seen, coming from the cracks in his mask and across his armor. His eyes glow a dark red.
Powers: Suicavel bears the Elemental Power of Shadow. This allows him to create, control, and absorb shadow, both as shadow is meant to be and as twisted tendrils and other forms of attacks. He can also transport himself between shadows (when doing so, he appears to simply melt from one to the other). This is not the full extent of his abilities, however. Suicavel can drain the life energy and positive emotions from an enemy simultaneously, repairing minor injuries to his body and recharging part of his elemental powers in the process. When doing so, his mouth (and that part of the mask) open wide, and glow a red light whilst absorbing the power. Any being killed with his energy drain returns to life as an undead creature, much like the Mask of Reanimation, under his command. His final ability is that attacks which harm Suicavel but do not kill him can be repaired as long as he has elemental energy left, as he can temporarily repair himself with his shadow powers, replacing parts of his body with shadow energy (or holding dismembered limbs in place) until he can truly heal himself with use of his energy draining.
Abilities: Suicavel is strong, quite so for a normal Toa Toa, and very quick. He’s supernaturally tough. Diseases, poisons, and mind control are useless on him; telepathy reveals nothing, though mental attacks are still usable. Cold is of little affect to him.
Weaknesses: As is fitting for a being with so many powers, Suicavel possesses numerous weaknesses. The first is that while he’s cunning, his intelligence is more bestial than anything, and driven by the hunger to feed. His greatest adversary is the sun, which disintegrates his shadow covering and any shadow energy that’s holding injured areas of his body together, along with hampering his elemental powers; in essence, the sun makes him a normal Toa without elemental powers or mask powers, though still able to use his energy draining. He can avert this for a time by covering himself in shells of solid darkness to fend off the light. Light, lightning, and fire powers can all accomplish limited versions of this; light is the best elemental tool to use on Suicavel, though all of the above can be used to weaken his shadow shroud or cause more lasting damage to him than physical weapons. Suicavel is also at the disadvantage of being unable to concentrate as easily when directing numerous undead at the same time in close proximity. Suicavel’s final handicap is that he needs a steady flow of life energy from his draining ability in order to survive.
Occupations: None
Personality: Suicavel is little more than a beast. At one point, he may have possessed a keener intelligence; now, though, it’s almost completely suppressed by the need to feed on the life forces of other living beings.
History: Nothing is known about Suicavel, to the majority of people. A few know the name – a terrible creature who haunted the Matoran Universe. Eventually, he was destroyed… or so it seems. Somehow, Suicavel has been brought back from the dead, and is intent on destroying all involved with his death, and those closest to them. And he’s not alone, this time…
Name: Blacklight (Kopraga)
Gender: Nil (Male)
Species: Sentient Sword – Falchion (Evil Entity)
Kanohi: Nil/Nil
Appearance: Blacklight is a single-bladed, one-handed sword (specifically, a Falchion) crafted from crystal that is naturally clear blue. The grip is wrapped in Fader Bull leather, with the crossguard and pommel both coated in a thin layer of protosteel, due to the danger of touching the sword. The blade glows a dark red when unsheathed, though the glow is suppressed when the blade is held by a ‘good’ wielder.
When a being uses telepathy to speak to the blade, Kopraga appears in their mind as a mass of writhing tendrils of shadow.
Powers: Blacklight has only a handful of powers on its own. The first is that it is almost completely indestructible, being crafted from the remaining pieces of the destroyed Toa Seal that held Makuta Teridax. Second, it can transmit its location for dozens of Kio, calling wielders. Third, touching the blade causes intense pain to any, including the wielder, who have no protection; thus, being cut by the blade is agonizing.
The blade amplifies its wielders Shadow powers; if they have none, it grants Darkness of the 5th Kraata power. It also allows them to gain physical strength from the shadows. The blade can use the power to strike Fear into the hearts of those who see it held at the 4th level of Kraata power when it is drawn with the intent to kill. Wielders who are the most fully corrupted are granted Fast Healing of the 3rd power.
The truth behind the blade is that it serves as a containment vessel for a powerful entity from before the Matoran Universe – Kopraga, an ancient entity residing upon Spherus Magna long ago but truly a spirit summoned from another dimension. His powers are all but completely gone, though he is growing stronger as the blade causes hatred, pain, and fear. One day, Kopraga may break free… but not yet.
Occasionally, Blacklight can dominate its wielder, though it prefers to direct them with calls for death and blood. When it takes over its wielder, if Kopraga is strong enough at the time, he may instead take control; he may also grant control back. It requires a weak or temporarily weakened/damaged will.
Personality: Blacklight is a weapon with a bloodthirsty nature only interested in seeking destruction and death. Fortunately, it’s goal of making itself the only thing in existence isn’t really something it can accomplish. Kopraga keeps the blade partially under control, and bends it to a more subtle path.
History: There is an ancient legend that tells of a creature who once resided on Spherus Magna known as Kopraga, Demon of the Shadows. According to legends, the being was eventually defeated by an equally powerful warrior of light, and banished back to the nether world from whence it came.
The truth behind this is unknown, but at some point, a being bearing that name appeared in the Matoran Universe. Bearing a set of rings crafted from solid crystal, the being was a lord over the shadows when it announced its presence, and proved a great enough threat to bring a halt to the Brotherhood/Dark Hunter war.
No way was found to best Kopraga. After over a years straight of conflict between him, he was finally made weak enough to be sealed behind a runic prison… but it was only to be temporary, and its creators knew that. They turned to dark rituals, and took the remains of the crystalline prison which had sealed the Makuta Teridax against the Great Barrier. Those who had trapped him removed his heart, and cast it into a great furnace of Xia before he could regenerate fully, burning his spirit into and trapping it within their new, unholy creation – Blacklight, a prison as dark as Kopraga, and the only thing able to seal him away.
Even the Makuta who were threat at its creation feared the weapon. The blade was stolen soon after by the Order of Mata-Nui, who intended to keep it in the hands of a warrior of light, who could contain both the weapon and Kopraga with their good deeds. It was not enough, however.
The weapon disappeared soon after, presumed to have been destroyed when the Makuta took over the universe as it was considered a threat to his power. This was too much to hope for. As disaster struck the universe, the blade found itself in the hands of a warrior of pure darkness, who would serve its commands… and that of the one imprisoned within it.
Presently, Blacklight is in the hands of the Toa named Suicavel. It may find itself in the hands of others, in due time.
