What ever happened to that huge project where like 100 people were making their own bionicle movies? It seemed like they would be good.

You mean Bionicle: Next Generation? I think they have their own website, but I haven't heard from them in forever. Maybe one of the members that worked on it are still active here and may be able to answer better than I.

They're still going, but the project split over a dispute on movie type. Don't expect anything soon, but I assure you, it will be awesome. Unfortunately I cannot link you to their site, as it is a forum, but if you are genuinely interested and capable of helping, they could use you. Just Google it.

EDIT: by the way, it isn't really hundreds of people. It's just like 30 dedicated fans right now, but the overestimate was from an influx of people who wanted to know about the project who said they would help, and then didn't do anything, and they're still unhappy with spammers like that. Just FYI if you're planning on joining.
