STAR WARS: GALAXY AT WAR

Introduction

What would Star Wars be like without the Skywalkers? Would the story we know and love be different without The Chosen One? Step into Star Wars: Galaxy At War, and you'll soon find out how much things can change. It is an era of conflict and strife in the Galaxy. Agents of the CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS continue to strike at the clone armies of the GALACTIC REPUBLIC and at the ranks of the JEDI ORDER. The CLONE WARS have raged on for over twenty years and though the Confederacy has been forced to abandon many of its holdings within the galaxy, their hidden bases continue to elude discovery by the forces of the Republic. GRANDMASTER WINDU is certain that the war has entered its final years. The forces of the DARTH SCITUS and GENERAL GRIEVOUS have been reduced in recent years, as some of the last Confederate strongholds fall. The history of the galaxy is still troubled however. The death of COUNT DOOKU above his home world of Serreno should have, in the estimate of many Jedi, ended the war. Without its charismatic head of state, they hoped that the Confederacy would collapse. This did not occur, the Confederacy rallied behind the Jedi QUI-GON JINN, a student of Count Dooku. The war raged on for many years, the revelation that SUPREME CHANCELLOR PALPATINE was a Sith Lord threw the Republic into chaos, forcing the Jedi Order to take a much more active role in the defense and governance of the Republic, supplementing and eventually overpowering the SENATE. Eventually, the Confederacy was beaten back by the Republic, forcing it to take refuge in the RISHI MAZE, the UNKNOWN REGIONS and the GALACTIC VOID. In these isolated, dangerous locations, the Confederacy continues to fight a bitter insurgency against the gigantic Galactic Republic. The war has not gone well for the Confederacy, QUI-GON JINN perished at the hands of the Grandmaster and his council during the destruction of Kaleesh. The Jedi and the Republic have tightened their hold on the galaxy, crushing or subverting many third parties. The HUTT CARTEL and the MANDALORIANS have all felt the wrath of the Galactic Republic. The Confederacy has come under new leadership in recent years however, and the SITH ORDER has experienced a resurgence not seen since the New Sith Wars. Under the leadership of the mysterious DARTH SCITUS, the Confederacy and the Sith Order have staged several successful attacks against Republic planets and fleets. Grandmaster Windu and the Jedi Order have vowed to crush the Confederacy once and for all, but many are skeptical of their abilities to do this.

Factions:

The world of Stars Wars is one teeming with conflict. This RPG is no exception. Pick a faction from the selection below! There are two major factions, the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic. These two have a number of sub-groups you may join. Will your character wield the crimson blades of the Sith, don the white armour of an elite Republic clone trooper, smuggle spice under the Hutts, or lead the Republic into victory as a Jedi? CISThe Confederacy of Independent Systems is a rebellion against the Republic. They are allied with the Mandalorians and Sith in their fight against the Republic and the Jedi. The Confederacy of Independent Systems The CIS has fallen on hard times in recent years, no longer can they face the Republic on the battlefield consistently, having to resort to raids and hit and run strikes. What was once a galaxy-spanning war has degenerated into little more than a large insurgency. The CIS remains however, dedicated to its ideals of independence and freedom. The Confederacy still fields droid armies, but their numbers are a far cry from the legions that stormed worlds early in the Clone Wars. However, a new source of soldiers, agents and informants has stepped in to fill the gap. Many worlds groan under the heel of the Jedi, and the inhabitants of these worlds now fill the ranks the CIS. The CIS is allied with a number of groups. The resurgent Mandalorian military have bolstered its military strength. A new Sith Order, dedicated to freedom and emotion, has also arisen within the ranks of the CIS, drawing recruits from the military and star systems sympathetic to the cause. A few Jedi have also defected from the decadence of the Republic, joining the CIS while being branded by the Republic propaganda machine as Dark Jedi. It is a cultural mosaic. Humans serve alongside Geonosians, Jedi alongside Sith, cyborgs and organics mingle freely. The Confederacy is ruled by the Separatist Council, a coalition of admirals, exiled senators and other noteworthies, who dictate and set overall Confederate policy. Within any given fleet however, the local Sith and Admiral normally have a great deal of leeway, a result of the cell strategy pursued by the Confederacy. No one fleet knows where the other is at any given time and communications with Confederate bases and thus, the council, is sparse at best. Despite the losses suffered in recent years, the CIS remains ready to stand against the bloated and corrupt Galactic Republic. With shipyards, bases and fleets hidden in unexplored voids and regions of space, the Confederacy plans, it builds, and it attacks. The Republic is a great beast, but many small and quick beings can down even the mightiest dragons. This lesson has been repeated throughout countless species history and it is time the Republic learn this, at a long last. Then a new age of freedom and progress can finally-finally-rise from the ashes of the Clone Wars. The RepublicThe Republic. If anyone of you have seen Star Wars, you know the Republic well enough. If you want to defend democracy as an elite clone trooper, a member of the Jedi Order, or Senator, this is the faction for you! The Galactic Republic The Galactic Republic has stood as the bastion of democracy and freedom for the past 25 millennia. The Republic and the Jedi have protected the democratic ideal from threats, both internal and external. The Clone Wars saw the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic, a force of Kaminoan-created clone troopers numbering in the hundreds of billions. They are made from genetic material taken from the infamous bounty hunter, Jango Fett. While the clone troopers' source material was a headstrong, independent man, his "descendants" have had their genes and minds modified for obedience to their Jedi Generals. A select number of clones are not modified for obedience, and have enhanced cognitive abilities, acting as super-soldiers, top-level commandos, and officers. The Senate continues to be a place of political intrigue, with various politicians jockeying for positions under the Supreme Chancellor. The Jedi have taken a much more interactive role in the affairs of the Republic, with Jedi representatives standing alongside every group of Senators from each system and sector. This is done to better ensure the smooth enactment of the Republic's goals. In addition, the Jedi serve as military governors on most major planets. Grandmaster Windu and other members of the Jedi Council have the highest practical level of control over the Grand Army of the Republic, and meet with the Supreme Chancellor and his cabinet from time to time, in order to deliberate on the general aims of the conflict with the Confederacy.JediThe Holy Order of the Jedi Knights is an ancient, monastic peacekeeping organization unified by its belief and observance of the Light Side of the Force. They are the guardians of peace, and justice in the Galactic Republic, and have combatted the Confederacy and the Sith over the years. They traditionally wield lightsabers, and tap into the Light Side to perform amazing feats. The Jedi Order Following Yoda's sacrifice to defeat the Sith puppetmaster, Chancellor Palpatine, the Jedi Council redoubled their efforts to root out the Sith and the CIS. Grandmaster Mace Windu has led the Jedi and the Grand Army of the Republic for nearly two decades, shattering the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and personally bringing down the treacherous Count Dooku. The Order remains the protector of the Senate, the shield of galactic democracy. Grandmaster Windu's era of leadership has seen the Jedi Order integrate better with the workings of the Republic, and the rise of many shining stars in the Jedi Council. The Jedi Temple on Coruscant remains the central hub of the Order. Thousands of younglings are brought to the Temple and various Enclave planets each year, in order to receive training in the ways of the Force. Some are selected by senior Jedi to become Padawans, and embark on a journey towards Knighthood, while others are enlisted into the Jedi Service Corps, working to better the galaxy in Agriculture, Medicine, Exploration and Education. The Order has maintained its close relationship with the Grand Army of the Republic, and Padawans and Knights are given officer-equivalent ranks within its command structure. Empowered by the Light Side, the heroic Jedi Order leads the charge against the Sith and the Confederacy. Most star systems and major planets are protected by the watchful gaze of Jedi Generals, their Padawans and the clone trooper army.Though they stand as guardians of the Republic, the Order's increased role in the affairs of state and the military has been criticized. Some Jedi have even abandoned the Republic entirely, defecting to the Confederacy and becoming Dark Jedi. Jedi RanksYounglings are taken from their families at an early age, and are raised in the Jedi Temple, or a variety of conclaves. They have until the age of thirteen to impress a senior Jedi, and be taken on as a Padawan. When Padawans achieve certain successes and pass certain trials, they graduate to the level of a Jedi Knight. Only a few Jedi Knights are honoured with the promotion to Jedi Master (a prerequisite for promotion to the Jedi Council). SithThe Sith are a dark mirror to the Jedi. They are a sect of Force-Sensitives who utilize the Dark Side of the Force. Sith believe in the strengthening of the individual, the embracing of emotion, and the satisfaction of victory over one's internal struggles. The Order of the Sith The death of Darth Sidious early in the Clone Wars shaped the Sith Order into Dooku's image. The Rule of Two has been discarded, in favour of greater numbers and a more unified vision of bringing darkness across the galaxy. A close ally of the CIS, the Sith differ from the Jedi in many ways. Unlike the Jedi and many ancient Sith, who viewed love as a dangerous force, the Sith Order has embraced it. They take an active interest in the lives of their members and encourage them to make strong relationships and connections with others, be they relatives or fellow initiates. The theory here being is that it is much easier to care for the troubles of the galaxy. The enigmatic and calculating Darth Scitus has united scattered enclaves of Dark Side users into a new Sith Order. Many Dark Side organizations have been folded into it out of necessity. The Nightsisters, Dathomiri Dark Side witches with access to unique abilities, have joined the Sith Order in full. The Blackguard of Mustafar serve the Order as dedicated Dark Side archivists and researchers; while the Mercosa Order trains select Sith Apprentices in the arts of espionage and assassinations. These assassins are regarded as some of the finest in the galaxy, and many corrupt Jedi have fallen to their blades. The Sith are headquartered in the Renaissance, a massive and heavily modified Subjagator-class cruiser that is alive with the Dark Side. They roam across space, recruiting Force-sensitives and tutoring them in the ways of the Sith. Many secrets have been forgotten in the mists of time, weapons long dormant, spells long uncast, power long untapped lurking in the dark places of the galaxy. If the Sith Order could access these they would have a much needed advantage in this seemingly endless war. Sith RanksThe Sith Order is led the by the Cabal, a collection of thirteen Darths, who each control a different part of the Sith Order, which often translates into working closely with a similar part of the CIS or, indeed, even heading it. This Cabal reports directly to Darth Scitus, who has the final say in most matters. Darth is the rough equivalent of a Jedi Master, and is the minimum required rank to be invited to the Cabal.Below them are the Sith Lords, the equivalent to Jedi Knights. Each one of these beings could be selected to help oversee the training of Sith Apprentices, who, unlike Jedi Padawans, are primarily trained communally, to ensure they have a large breadth of experience to draw upon. The Sith Initiates, the lowest rank in the order, are recruited from across the Galaxy and put through a series of basic tests at the end of their education to determine if they are ready to become an Apprentice.MandaloriansNot interested in the orders of Jedi or Sith? The Mandalorians may be a choice for your character! The legendary armoured warriors are allied with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The Mandalorian Reclaimers The Mandalorians are a proud people and they have been grievously insulted and demeaned throughout the past twenty years. First, the Republic raised an army of slaves with the face of one of their Mandalores, then occupied their planet, forced millions into exile and dismantled the traditional Mandalorian militaries. Only the Death Watch resisted them, fighting a long, bloody guerilla war against the Republic. The Duchess of Mandalore, Satine, collaborated with the Republic for a time, but developed misgivings as the more and more Republic industries filled the planet, as more and more farmlands were burned, more and more land strip mined for the valuable minerals within. The Republic saw this and the conniving Jedi staged a false flag operation, slaughtering members of the Death Watch, including Satines own sister, in an attempt to illustrate Confederate treachery to the Duchess and ensure her support. This ruse worked for some time, but the arrival of the soon-to-be Mandalore the Redeemer changed this. Formerly a bounty hunter, the Redeemer rallied the people of Mandalore and staged a revolt against the Republic. After the truth of her sister's fate was delivered to her by a Sith agent, Satine threw her support behind the revolt. She set up a trap for the Republic, luring many of their ships into the atmosphere.and into the range of atmospheric vessels, allowing the forces of the Redeemer to hijack the entire fleet. From here, the Mandalorian forces fled into the void with a fleet of ships, throwing their weight behind the Confederacy. Today Mandalorian warriors serve as an elite force within the Confederacy, often working alongside the Sith Order in raids against the forces of the Jedi. They are commanded by Mandalore the Redeemer, advised by the former Duchess Satine, who has at last taken up the arms she had long disdained. In many ways, the Mandalorian culture has thrived as a result of the war. They draw recruits from the most promising members of the Confederacy, allowing them to keep their numbers up even as they fight to defeat the Republic and retake their home. Crime Syndicates In addition to the main powers, there are a number of crime syndicates in the Galaxy. While their diversity has been stunted by actions taken by the Republic, there remain three major factions in the underworld. If you wish to create a bounty hunter, a smuggler, or a space pirate, they will fall under one of these two factions. Black Sun/Hutt Cartel AllianceBlack Sun and the Hutt Cartels have an alliance, which is loosely aligned with the Galactic Republic.Black SunPrince Xizor's crime syndicate has developed a working relationship with the Jedi Republic. In exchange for some financial benefits and access to the syndicate's vast network of intelligence, the Republic's representatives permit Black Sun to continue its operations. They operate out of Coruscant, and have a hand in almost every realm of shady business, from spice smuggling to slave trading. The syndicate has a reasonably sized navy of ships, and an atmospheric army that would rival a small planet. With the implied approval of the Republic and the Jedi Order, Black Sun works with the Hutt Cartel to manage most of the illegal activities in the galaxy, and maintain the official Bounty Hunters' Guild.Hutt Cartel The Hutts attempted to play a neutral role early in the Clone Wars, providing support to both the CIS and the Republic. Following the restructuring of the cartel during the Clone Wars, they eventually saw the Light, and threw their weight behind the Jedi. The Republic currently supports the leadership of Vedo Anjliiac Antirue and his three sons, whom have firm control over the remaining kajidics, and are loyal to the Republic. The Cartel is currently based in Nal Hutta and the Smugglers' Moon, Nar Shaddaa. They retain influence over much of what was once Hutt Space and some parts of the Outer Rim. In addition, they help manage the official Smugglers' Alliance.Zann Consortium The Zann Consortium is a relatively new member and rising star in the criminal lord. Their leader, Tyber Zann, was once employed by the Black Sun/Hutt Cartel Alliance, but soon struck out on his own, creating an underworld organization that operates without the tacit approval of the Republic. They have a secret base on one of the forest moons of Endor, and have a significant subversive presence in Hutt and Black Sun space. To avoid the exorbitant surcharges required to smuggle goods under the Hutts or Xizor, smugglers not affiliated with the Smugglers' Alliance are loosely aligned with the Zann family. The Zann Consortium also operates the payouts of bounties which are not approved by Black Sun/Hutt Cartel alliance. It is not uncommon for Zann Consortium ships to engage in acts of piracy against Black Sun and the Hutts, or the Republic.

Starting Locations

Coruscant: The capital of the Galactic Republic and home to over a trillion inhabitants. The entire planet is one big city, and is home to the Jedi Temple, the Galactic Senate, and the offices of the Black Sun crime syndicate. It has over 5,000 levels. Its lowest levels are a literal underworld of crime and danger. Located at the intersection of numerous major hyperlanes, Coruscant is a vital planet, both strategically and politically. Dathomir: Dathomir is an obscure planet in the Outer Rim, and is the secret stronghold of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Before the CIS established their presence on the planet, the Jedi had invaded it, shattering a native clan of Dark-Side users, before leaving to address bigger dangers to the galaxy. It is a temperate and beautiful planet, with a wide variety of natural terrain. Aside from the CIS's presence, the planet is fairly sparsely populated. The Confederacy has turned it into a secret fortress. Renaissance: The Renaissance is a heavily modified Subjugator-class heavy cruiser, and the home of the Sith Order. It is a large vessel, over five kilometres long, and travels from star system to star system, avoiding the Jedi who hunt for it. Nal Hutta - Nal Hutta, the Glorious Jewel, is the capital of Hutt Space, located in the Mid-Rim. It is a planet that combines the beautiful with the decadent. Once a place of lush jungles, the Hutts have transformed the planet into marsh, blended with heavy industrial zones, strip-mines, and Hutt-run pleasure gardens and palaces. The Hutt Cartels are headquartered in the capital of Bilbousa, and the Guarja Shipyards are based here. Nar Shaddaa: Nar Shaddaa, the Smugglers' Moon or Little Coruscant, is known for its beautiful stench and decay of desperate living. It is the largest moon of Nal Hutta, and is entirely urbanized. It is a dangerous place, a hive of scum and villainy, where the most diverse groups of smugglers and bounty hunters gather. Crime is everywhere, and the thriving spaceport is ruled by the Hutt Cartel. Many of the galaxy's most advanced technologies are developed on Nar Shaddaa, as companies avoiding regulations often run their tests there. The Forest Moon of Endor: The forest moon of Endor is home to the Zann Consortium's secret base of operations. Nestled within the trees is the heart of a growing criminal empire that could rival the Hutt Cartels and Black Sun. Its native inhabitants, a race of teddy-bear like creatures, has largely been exterminated by the Consortium. None remain left in the wild, though a few are retained for entertainment purposes.

Gameplay

Gameplay takes the form of OOC (Out of Character) and IC (In Character) posts. Here are the basics.Beginning - Upon the approval of your character, you will start out in one of several locations. Jedi begin their journey in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Sith begin on the Renaissance, the mobile base of the Sith Order. CIS characters and Mandalorians begin on the Confederacy stronghold of Dathomir, and Republic characters will start on Coruscant. Characters involved in the crime syndicates will generally start either on Nar Shaddaa (the Smuggler's Moon), or its planet Nal Hutta. Black Sun operatives have the option of beginning on Coruscant or Nar Shaddaa, and playing with the Zann Consortium allows one to have the option of beginning at a certain moon of Endor. If you want to splay as a spy, your character will start on his/her true faction's planet (you'll have to play out the infiltration). Neutral characters (like bounty hunters or smugglers, will have the option of starting on either Nar Shaddaa or Coruscant). Once you begin, and have spent as much time as you need on the starting planet, you may travel out to the vast number of planets and star systems that make up the Star Wars galaxy. Travel - Travel is facilitated through hyperdrives, which shunt ships into hyperspace and reduce intersystem travel time significantly. Due to the impracticalities of writing out two weeks of in-character time in hyperspace, we will be relying on your discretion as players. There is some differentiation between different forms of travel. Big ships (be they battleships, capital ships, cruisers, heavy freighters, etc.) will take anywhere from three days to two weeks (in-game) to travel from location to location in hyperspace. These would be used more for military campaigns, or as settings for secondary plots (Murder on the Venator express, training while traveling etc.). Because PCs will not be commanding big ships (at least initially), it will not have any direct implications on players.Small ships, which are settings less likely to be plot-heavy, will have shorter travel times, down to a minimum of a few hours in-game. Travel in small ships would be facilitated by three hyperspace travel posts with a mandatory total minimum of six paragraphs (spaced out at your discretion). If you want to stretch out a bit of a plot in your light freighter, feel free to add additional non-mandatory travel posts (your total travel time of a few hours will not be affected). Please label your IC with its Hyperspace Post Number. If you have any further questions on travel, pop one of us staffers a PM, and we'll explain things further. Combat -Combat will be loosely turn-based. Here is an example below. Quote

IC (PC 1 - Alderaan):PC 1 exhaled slowly and silently as she peered down at her target from a vantage point on the roof. The Republic General, a Jedi Master of some renown, was meditating alone in the courtyard. "NOW!" The Sith leapt down from her perch, twin lightsabers extended as she arced silently towards her target. She would wait until the last moment to activate the crimson-bladed sabers, to prevent the massive Jedi from hearing the telltale buzz which would foretell his doom. She was only four feet from the Jedi when the crimson blades sprang to life, scissoring towards his neck.OOC: Your move

IC (PC 2 - Alderaan) The massive Trandoshan Jedi sprang to his feet, executing a force-assisted backflip that took him out of harm's way. "An assassin. Fitting! Scitus is not man enough to face me himself!" Raising his right claw, PC 2 struck out with the force, raising various pebbles, rocks, stones and other debris from their resting places and hurling them at the PC 1.

Keep the rules in mind, and try to follow a code of etiquette. Remember, even though you are a PC, you are not invincible.Death Because Qui-Gon Jinn's death occurred much later in the timeline (following his break from the Order), the current Jedi have not learned how to turn into Force Ghosts. Doing so will require the discovery and careful study of an artifact which has long been lost to the Jedi. As a result, once your character is dead, they will not return as a Force Ghost. Extraordinarily powerful Sith have been known to tie their spirits to a single location with their hate and rage, but this technique is limited, and only the most powerful of Darths can hope to retain a semblance of their former identities.

Rules

The galaxy is a wild place, but we have to have some rules, otherwise itd be utter chaos. 1. All BZP rules apply. 2. If you have a problem with another RPer, inform a staff member immediately, don't cause a disturbance in the OOC topic or the main RPG. 3. This game is based on a space fantasy series, emphasis on the 'fantasy', and there are a number of things with the physics of Star Wars which do not necessarily line up with our own rules (for instance, the inexplicably equivalent levels of gravity found on most planets). Being overly nitpicky in the application of our world's physics to the game will be frowned upon. 4. Though you can play a force user, you won't, in general, be able to start out as a Master or a Darth. These are positions that need to be earned through IC actions. This means that most Sith will not start out with abilities like Force Lightning. 5. Label in character posts IC, label any out of character comments OOC. We have an OOC thread for discussing the RPG in solely OOC terms. 6. No controlling other people's characters without permission.

7. Unless you're in grade three, we expect a semblence of respect for grammar and capitalization. Make an effort, please. 8. No autohitting, but by the same token, don't expect to dodge your enemy forever. PC vs PC battles are always tricky, and the staff will be watching to ensure they are played out fairly. 9. No G-modding, if you think your character can take over a ship or a base singlehandedly, you are sadly mistaken. Your character is mortal and they have limits, push those limits too far and there will be consequences. 10. From time to time, your characters may be summoned back to their faction starting locations. You will be notified in an OOC post by a staff member. If summoned, have them travel back to your faction's starting location. Failure to do so will have consequences.

11. Common sense rules in this RP. If you break away from the rest of your party in a predator-infested jungle, chances are you're gonna get eaten. If a veteran sniper is firing from two miles away with a sniper rifle, at you, it's possible to die. If you're a Padawan challenging a Darth, you will likely get dismembered (or worse). In a similar fashion, if you're playing a Darth going against a youngling, the difference in skill should be enough to justify common sense bending of rule 7.

This does not give you license to completely ignore rule 7, but it does let you show off a little in cases where it is so far from a fair fight that it's not even funny anymore. That being said, a novice can still beat a master. They just have to work a lot harder and a lot smarter to do so. It is a rule of common sense, not a have-an-automatic-win clause.

ConsequencesA first offense will generally incur a warning from a staff member (either over PM or in an OOC post). Second offences may result in some form of in-game punishment from your character or a temporary ban from playing the game (between one and two weeks real-time). Third warnings will result in the death of one or more of your offending characters and a three week ban from playing. A fourth offence will result in a permanent ban from the RPG. If rule number 8, 9, 10, or 11 are broken in particularly spectacular fashions, we reserve the right to maim or kill offending characters.

Profiles

Here are the forms you'll need to submit a profile. Once you've completed a form, post it in The Cantina, our Discussion Topic, and wait for approval from two staffers. Blatant expies from the Star Wars universe, or other franchises will not be tolerated. If I see a Raiden, Solid Snake, Schlook Skystrider, or Yolo Swaggins, they will not be approved. While custom species will not be accepted, a character may be a (reasonable) hybrid species. You may make up to eight profiles. Name: (What is your character's name? How do they refer to themselves?)Species: (Is your character an alien, a droid, a human, or near-human? There are many alien species within the Star Wars universe, pick one for your character. No custom species will be accepted.) Gender: (What is your character's applicable gender?)Age: (How many standard years old is your character?)Faction: (Which faction is your character affiliated with? This determines your character's starting planet.)Sympathies: (Even if your character is employed with one faction, (s)he can have sympathies for others. A Clone officer might have sympathies for the Mandalorians, a Jedi would naturally be sympathetic to the Jedi, and a Hutt may feel a certain empathy for the Confederacy.)Rank: (This is for Jedi, Sith, or military characters) Occupation: (What kind of work do they do? Grand Army of the Republic medic? Droid repair technician? Jedi Commander? Sith assassin?) Skills: (Have they picked up any skills throughout their life? For Jedi and Sith lightsaber wielders, please specify which of the Seven Forms of Lightsaber combat your character specializes in.) Force Abilities: (If your character is a Force-sensitive, what kind of abilities have they specialized in?)Equipment or Weapons: (What kind of equipment and weapons do they have? Armour? A holdout blaster? If they're a Jedi or Sith, what kind of lightsaber do they wield?)Appearance: (How do they look? Do they have any distinctive features?)Personality: (Self-explanatory. Describe a bit of your character's personality.)Home Planet: (From where do they hail?)History: (Give a brief background of your character's life.)A character has to have some way of getting around the galaxy, no? If your character is a soldier, they'd likely catch rides on great capital ships. However, there are smaller ships, freighters, fighters available for your transport needs.Ship Name: (The Bonny Bunny, Sentinel's Kiss, Gertrude etc, etc. Does your ship have a name?)Model: (What make and model is your ship? A trusty YT-1300, or maybe a sleek Lambda-class shuttle. Bear in mind, the size of your ship will be limited by its crew. There'll be no giant Star Destroyers for players, at least not yet.)Function: (Is it a starfighter, an old freighter, or a personal shuttle?)Weapons: (What kind of weapons, if any, is your ship outfitted with? Please, keep it reasonable. There'll be no planet-killing superlaser on a starfighter)Modifications: (Have you modified your ship's cargo space? Weapons systems? Is there anything unique about the ship?)Background: (Give a brief background of the ship. It can be as mundane as a bargain from the used spaceship guy, to something inherited from your character's ancestors, to a stolen ship)If you have any questions or need some additional information to get started, feel free to shoot a PM to one of the staff.Check out The Cantina, the SWRPG's Official Discussion Topic!EDIT:Neutral, factionless character applications will now be accepted. If you wish to play a smuggler or bounty hunter that isn't aligned with any larger faction, you can do so. The only requirement is that you pick between Coruscant and Nar Shadddaa as starting locations.

THE STORY SO FAR:

The accomplishments of your characters and the overall story will be chronicled here as the RPG progresses.

Important NPCs

SithDarth Scitus - Darth Scitus is the enigmatic leader of the new Sith Order. He took up the mantle of the Sith following the deaths of Sidious and Bane, but chose to reject the Rule of Two, instead uniting a variety of Dark Side using organizations under the banner of the Sith. Scitus is known for his skills as a negotiator and diplomat, and has swayed many individuals to the Separatist cause.

Darth Recusatia - This gentle Mirialan is the foremost healer and expert on the study of life sciences within the Sith Order. She was once a Jedi Knight, by the name of Barriss Offee, but defected from the Jedi Order two years into the war. Darth Recusatia is one of the founding members of the new Sith Order, and is a fire-forged friend of Darth Scitus. Though Recusatia's position on the Cabal is devoted to the healing arts and biotic sciences, and she has not fought on the battlefield in many years, it is rumoured that she is one of the Sith Order's finest warriors.Darth Meliora - Asajj Ventress was once a mere Dark Jedi and Nightsister assassin serving under Dooku. She is one of the founding members of the new Sith Order. Meliora's relationship with the Nightsisters was instrumental in bringing the Force Witches into the order, and establishing Dathomir as the Confederacy's secret base. Ventress has become a master of the spells of the Nightsisters, combining them with Sith techniques. As a member of the Cabal, Meliora is responsible for intelligence and assassination.

Darth Iure - Before his defection to the Separatists Sora Bulq was a respected Jedi Master, considered to be one of the finest Blademasters in the Jedi Order, developing the Vaapad variant of Form VII alongside Mace Windu. He serves as the Sith Order's blademaster and chief lightsaber instructor, and is a member of the Cabal, overseeing the integrity of Sith philosophy within the Order.
Darth Krayt - A human raised as a Tusken on Tatooine, Darth Krayt was once a member of the Jedi Order. An ambitious Darth and master of Niman/Jar'Kai, he challenged Scitus' for leadership of the Sith in its early years, and lost an eye for his trouble. Nevertheless, he is devoted to the Sith Order, and is responsible for the discovery and protection of the Ancient Knowledge of the Sith and the Dark Side. He is usually off the Renaissance, leading teams of Sith to ancient worlds steeped in the Dark Side to rediscover the mystical and the arcane.Jedi

Grandmaster Mace Windu - Always a hardliner, Mace Windu has led the Jedi Order for most of the war. A stern, resilient and powerful Jedi Master, he has shown himself to be willing to go to extreme lengths to eradicate the Sith, and restore the Republic. He is Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, the de facto leader of the Council, and a senior member of the Grand Army of the Republic.Master Kolman Bn'sen - This burly, boisterous, and bald Human is a member of the Jedi Council, and one of the chief instructors at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. He can often be found training other teachers, arranging the completion of Jedi Trials for Padawans, and oversees the reassignment of failed Initiates. He is a warm individual and has taught many students over the years. He believes in giving initiates a chance to prove themselves.Master Yttro - Member of the Jedi Council and Chief Librarian of the Jedi Archives. The depth and breadth of her knowledge is only matched by her desire to learn. Yttro is a Sylphe from Sylvia IV with powerful natural psychic abilities (Sylphe can telepathically communicate over interstellar distances). She has flowers in place of hair, green skin, and the ability to emit pheromones. Because Sylphe generally communicate with a crystalline language, she prefers to remain silent, communicating only via telepathy.

Master Hem Treemba - Master Treemba is an Arconan Jedi Councilor who distinguished herself on the battlefield, defending the Senate and the Chancellor from more than one assassination attempt. She is a stern and conservative individual who holds to the unifying Force, believing greatly in destiny. Treemba works closely with the Grand Army of the Republic on Coruscant and uses the Force to overcome her species' blurry vision. She is one of the foremost seers of the Jedi Order. Master Sha Koon - Master Sha is the niece of the late Plo Koon of the Old Council and is a lifetime member of the Council. While her considerable strength in the Force, and abilities with the lightsaber make her an effective fighter, it is her wisdom, and sense of foresight that have earned her a seat on the Council. Sha is a humane General, valuing each of the clone soldiers under her command. Like many Kel Dor, Sha has a strong sense of justice, and favours "rough justice" which might appear overly retributive and close to vigilantism to most Kel Dor. In Sha's books, morality is often measured in the black and white.Master Aayla Secura - Aayla Secura is a veteran General of the Clone Wars, and has served with distinction in many battlefields. She is highly empathetic towards her clone troopers, and treats them well, she is much ruthless towards the Sith she encounters, and is known for being absolutely committed to hunting them down. She is rarely on Coruscant, preferring to spend her time hunting the Sith. Master Vild Ro - Vild Ro is a member of the Jedi Council, and Dathomirian hybrid, who was rescued from the tribe by a Jedi Knight passing by Dathomir as an infant. Though his face and body are covered in the tattoos of the Nightbrothers, Vild is absolutely devoted to the Light Side of the Force, and uses his martial strength and tactical good sense to hunt after the Sith, tracking their activities and determining their haunts.Master Malincha Seila - Malincha is a rare Devaronian Jedi, and serves on the Council. The child of a Jedi who forsook his vows, she has an exceptional connection to the Living Force, which she puts to use in the study of healing, and the biology of various species. While she is officially known as the foremost healer in the Order, her unofficial purpose is the maintenance of the considerable network of informants and Jedi spies across the galaxy.

Master Chask Far'fella - Chask is an unusual sight, being a rare Sephi/Bothan hybrid. He is a slightly unorthodox Jedi Master, choosing to wear dark blue robes embroidered with silver patterns, over a light grey inner tunic. He is a charismatic individual with the ability engage almost anyone in a friendly and cordial manner, and form a positive relationship with nearly every person he meets. Chask serves as the Council's Chief Liaison to the Senate, and spends much of his time outside of Council meetings with the senators and politicians of the Republic.

IC: Nentir Draln. Jedi Temple

Nentir meditated, feeling the Force course through his body. he usually did this when he was going to be creating lightsabers and such. it focused him more fully on the task at hand. humming quietly, he picked up pieces and began to build. he wasn't exactly making something important, just watching how the pieces built themselves. he stretched his hand out, the metal forming around it into a gauntlet. he could feel energy coursing through it, as it built itself. it secured itself onto his hand, latching in place. it was heavier than expected, but it fit him perfectly. "now to make one more, and I can have fists of steel" he murmured to himself.

IC: Jaceren

A lone figure sat motionless within the dark room. Jaceren had no need for lights. Not when he was meditating. He was never sure how long he meditated within the darkness for. At times it felt like days. He opened his body completely to the Dark Side and let the energy rush into his body. It was an euphoric feeling at first. To feel so much strength and power... out there just for him to grasp. One could become lost in the Dark Side if they were not careful. To Jaceren it was like a vast endless ocean of red and black. It was infinite like the universe itself. One of his fists twitched slightly as his gloved hands balled into a fist. Then the hooded figure stirred as he slipped out of meditation. He felt his body close to the Dark Side as much as it could since he was an Sith apprentice.

Jaceren slowly rose to his feet. He looked down to see that his twin obsidian sabers rested safely at his belt. He knew they would be there. If some fool happened to try to take them while he was meditating he would be able to snap out of it in an instant and cut them down. He almost wished there was an initiate or apprentice foolish enough to try this. But the new Sith Order was very different then the ones of old. The Order of Two was gone.

Jaceren moved towards the holo-cron stationed in his room. He tapped the device and began to scroll through the vast array of Sith knowledge that the new Sith Order had begun to dig up. It was an amazing feeling for Jaceren as he browsed through the data. To learn about Sith such as Exar Kun and Naga Sadow. Jaceren was always eager for new knowledge, the Dark Lords were his idols. They had the level of power he dreamed one day of acquiring. A mask rested on a shelf an arms length from the holo-cron. Jaceren stared at it and for an instant he saw a reflection of himself in the inky blackness of the Mandalorian visor. A mask that had once belonged to his father. To Jaceren it was a token to remind him why he sought the power he did. So he could bring about the fall of the Jedi. Revenge at its core was what motivated him. He grasped the cold mask and slowly snapped it over his face.

Jaceren then turned and strode from his room. He wasn't sure what the Sith Lords had in store for the apprentices today but Jaceren was eager to find out.

IC: Djashell Shan stood in a hangar bay, one of many on Nar Shaddaa, looking up at the ship. Her ship technically. She still hadn't quite got used to that yet. It didn't feel like hers, despite all the mods, mod-cons and the few personal touches. She missed the Fair Fortune...she'd known every paint scratch on that one.

Ugh, this was nostalgia wasn't it? By any god that cared to listen, she really was getting old...

"Throw me a bolter would you?" A friendly voice called from the ship's topside.

Ah yes, that was why she was standing in a hangar bay in the first place, not relaxing somewhere with a mug of something warm. Syaa was making a few more changes to the Lady. It was...optimising the energy output of the laser cannon this time round. probably. Syaa had far too much fun with the outdated pile of parts, it really was more her ship than Shan's

Nevertheless, Djashell located a bolter from the scattered debris of repair work on the floor (neatness was not one of Syaa's traits) and threw it up. Syaa caught it clumsily but managed to avoid doing herself or the ship any damage, which was a plus. Djashell moved back into a motionless pose and got back to the reason she was here: she did so like watching Syaa work

IC: Nentir Draln. Jedi Temple

Nentir accidentally applied too much pressure and the metal bit into his skin. he yelped, quickly taking the gauntlet apart. he glared at the half-finished metal pieces. "i'm onto you" he muttered. he analyzed the wound, realizing that he had yelped over something that didn't even draw blood. muttering again, he re-assembled the glove, taking extra-slow to avoid hurting himself again. he screwed the pieces together, and let go. it didn't break, luckily. he tested moving his fingers. it was a little hard, but it was a metal glove. of course it was going to be difficult. assembling a target, he punched it, sending it flying. satisfying. "hrrrm..." he took it off, and started to work on it more. after a while, he had created what he wanted. a brace. when he triggered it, it would crawl onto his open hand at an amazing pace, forming the glove again. of course, he had to re-place it with the force, but it was working better than expected.

IC: Salvador Oro | ---> The Renaissance | Training Quarters

Lord Salvador was engaged in the heat of combat. For someone, at least - the Ithorian apprentice he was dueling (whose name he had not caught) was definitely getting angrier and angrier by the moment, based on the increasing strength and power of his blows. The Sith Lord, however, knew better than to be defeated with ease by a novice, especially when he was on the defensive.

"Your anger is your strength, but you are sacrificing your defense." he observed, making the major flaw into a small clerical note. "The last four attacks left half second pauses; together, any with a minor grasp of the force would have had the chance to disable you long enough to deliver a final blow."

The apprentice stepped back for a moment. The anger was still there, but he was starting to take control. Looking for minor flaws, it appeared. Salvador didn't even need to use the Force to notice this, though his own face remained as calm and calculated as a professional gambler. "I know what you search for; you will not find it here." Fear now flushed through the Apprentice's face.

"You are a practicioner of Juyo, aren't you?" he asked. "Tell me, what am I?"

"Soresu, my Lord." the Apprentice replied. "Resilience Form." There was a slight amount of condescension in the tone of voice. A number of these new Apprentices arrogantly took up forms such as Juyo rather than more defensive forms, seeing such defensive forms as weak. The fools usually died of blaster wounds even an Initiate of Soresu could have deflected. Salvador figured that this particular Ithorian just learned a new technique and thought to test it against a Sith Lord of a 'weaker' style to prove himself.

"Yes, the Resilience Form. You've been studying. But this duel is over, I'm afraid. Let us end this lecture."

Salvador deactivated the training lightsaber he was using, quickly placing it in his robes as he looked around the room. There were a number of other Apprentices here, along with another Sith Lord (greener than himself) who was watching the affair. He called attention to them, saying, "Listen! You must always remember that the power of the Dark Side lies not in brute force and strength. It lies in power. Strength is power. Knowledge is power. Skill is power. And the invulnerability of Soresu is power."

"Open your robes." Salvador commanded the Ithorian, who did so. The training armor underneath, designed to show and absorb the blows of the training lightsabers they had been using, was riddled with pinpoint wounds, each aimed at a vital point. "Juyo is a strong form against a single opponent in combat, particularly those who are not adept in it, but even those who are skilled with the lightsaber. But if your adversary is as skilled in the defense as you in the offense, you will find no success in your style until you learn control over your power."

"That concludes this lesson, though I shall think to begin another shortly. Other Sith Lords are present across the training areas to teach you about other styles."

OOC: @ Flex; You want to join in that next training session?

I hope that was an accurate enough portrayal of a lesson. I understand the Sith Lords train communally, so forgive me if that is to be interpreted as 'work in large groups to train one Apprentice' and not 'training multiple Apprentices, one or two Lords at a time'

IC (Vel Orral)

Vel, bare except for a pair of boots and set of black pants, sat before an open viewpoint. The room surrounding him was somewhat spartan, with only a small bed and a few shelves adding character to the otherwise empty room. Vel preferred it that way really, it was harder to hit his knee on something on the way to fresher at night. Being a Zelosian, his night-vision....wasn't. He couldn't see in the dark, period. Despite this handicap, he didn't wish to join the ranks of any other species.

There were times when it was more then worth it. He could feel the light of a thousand suns hit his flesh, feel the warmth spread through every part of his body as it was processed into energy. He could stay like this for days, suspended in a state of contentment as his body was nourished. That, however, wasn't much of a option. He had work to do.

Vel sighed, remembering his youth. He could recall precious little of his time on Felucia. His memories focused on the bewildering variety of ships he had called home. Dreadnoughts, Resucants, Providences and on one memorable occasion, a Venator had all been homes for him in his youth. Droids, rather then legions of other children, had been his primary companions while his parents tended to the ship. Despite being nonsentient themselves, the droids had had an influence on him.

He'd grown to admire their control, their dedication. He emulated them in a fashion. To let emotion control you was folly. They could be useful (he'd grown familiar with the failings of his droid companions as well) but to focus on them at the exclusion of other functions of the mind was counterproductive and useless. Some of his fellow Sith could stand to learn from the Droids that marched through the halls of the vessel. Some of them were mindlessly serving their own anger, their own ambition, with no thought of the bigger picture. Or even their own goal.

Dispelling these thoughts, the Zelosian hauled himself to his fleet and grabbed his armorweave from a nearby shelf. If he was not mistaken, there was a training session scheduled in one of the nearby halls. He didn't want to miss that. Even if he didn't participate, it would still result in valuable lessons. Learning from the mistakes of others was the key to many things.

OOC: Oh, you make me laugh, Zehv. That's a pretty accurate portrayal. :)

IC - (Anshar Rune - Renaissance):The soft chirping of birds, the buzzing of bugs, and the splashing of water rang throughout the Room of Waterfalls, a large internal greenhouse within the Renaissance. The garden itself was an extensive expanse of waterfalls, brooks, and what a veritable jungle, the roof above used holoscreens to mimic the blue skies, white clouds, and yellow sun of Dathomir. It was a beautiful preserve. The hum of a lightsaber cut through the air, melding with the scent of candles. Anshar Rune, Sith Apprentice, held his red-bladed lightsaber in one hand, the crimson blade moving in smooth arcs as he balanced carefully on a large stone. The apprentice shifted his stance and stretched out his hand to one of the unlit candles, golden eyes gleaming with pleasure. Rune smirked in satisfaction as the wick flared to life. He exhaled slowly, extinguishing the blade and taking a seat on the stone, scooting over to a small leather bag and removing a small holorecorder. The Sith apprentice smiled as he turned it on. Now was as good a time as ever to record a message for his family. Unfortunately, due to the classified and continuously changing location of the Renaissance, members of the Order were not permitted to communicate directly over the Holonet with their families. "I suppose this is the next best thing." Anshar smiled at the recorder as it scanned him and began to record his message. "Dear Mother,I hope that all is going well back home, and that business is running smoothly. Thank you so much for your encouraging message last time. Please send my warmest congratulations to Anaide on the acquisition of her own ship, and the new job. It's hard to believe that my little sister is all grown up, and the captain of her own starship. Time flies, and I know that father would be positively beaming. I know I am."

"Mother Talzin said that, with practice, I might be ready to take the Nightbrother trials soon, which should open up doors for Lordship. They've been teaching me all sorts of stuff. Watch this." The Sith Apprentice raised an unlit candle to the holorecorder, and waved his hand over it. The flame sputtered to life in an instant. "It's only a basic spell of flame. But there are all sorts of things that they can teach me." Anshar's excited monologue was interrupted by the shrill beeping of an alarm. He glanced sheepishly at the holorecorder, and ran a hand through the dark brown waves of his hair. "So sorry, Mother. I lost track of time during my meditation. I'll continue my message a bit later. I have a saber drills with my class in ten. Much love!"

Anshar switched off the holorecorder and scooped up the candles into a leather bag, the flames going out as he touched them. The Apprentice threw the bag over his shoulder and leapt off of the boulder, landing on the ground in a crouch and bounding out of the Room of Waterfalls. Rune's brow furrowed slightly as he deposited the holorecorder and bag of candles in his room and scooped up his outer tunic, throwing the armorweave-lined garment on and buckling it quickly. Training was always an adventure on the Renaissance, and being late was an easy way to make the adventure slightly more surprising.

OOC: Strack, this is for you. IC - (NPC Jedi Temple): Nentir's yelp of pain caused a slight chuckle from the entrance to his personal "workshop." A tall Human Jedi, burly, bearded, and bald, strode into the room with a slightly mischievous smile on his face. "I must apologize, Nentir." He stroked his brown beard with one hand, holding his hand behind his robe with the other, and smiled apologetically. "You get so focused when you're working."The burly Jedi, Kolman Bn'sen, a trainer of younglings, levitated an assortment of parts from a chair, plinking them onto Nentir's table with a series of clinks. "Your artwork and gadgets never cease to amaze, Artisan."Master Bn'sen looked at a particularly orderly area in the workshop. It looked positively sterile, and it was obvious that no hands had touched the tools there for quite some time. His smile faded. It was well known that Nentir hadn't been open to the idea of taking a new Padawan following his first one's death in the field of battle.Bn'sen sighed and shifted his gaze to the Artisan Knight. "How many years has it been now, Draln?"

IC RC-8358 (Military Barracks, Coruscant):

'I can't get this wrong.' Glancing upwards at the small mirror at himself, 8358 pondered how he had gotten himself in such a position. He had been, no, was a commando. Every minute detail, from the condition of the barrel of his DC-17m ICWS to his very own armor had to be perfect. It was the purpose of his job. 'Every minute detail, wasn't that how I got here?' Stopping himself from cleaning his weapon beyond preferred combat effectiveness, 58 stood, stretching his legs from staying in a still position of cleaning. Looking at the time, he had reached the same time that was drilled into his mind. More and more, he found the chants that the Commandos learned held true to him.

Walking towards the window, he looked out upon the city of Coruscant, and gazed at how he would be returning to Kamino soon.

IC: Nentir Draln. Jedi Temple

"...ten years" was the short reply. his mood had suddenly turned dark, remembering how a Mandalorian had shot down his former padawan. no pity, no emotion. just a simple cut. the boy could have lived, but Nentir had failed to get him help, engaged in his own battle. he had never forgave himself. he missed the boy, a bright light in his dark life. he couldn't allow that again, for the sake of him or her. the pieces still moved around him, not being noticed at all. then they suddenly dropped where they were. "unless ordered by the council, I could never take on another padawan"

OOC: Ermm Iunno how to fit Ze'Taki into current Temple conversation so yeah.. introduction post that does almost nothing :P

IC: Ze'Taki (Jedi Temple)

The young Shi'ido looked down at her opponent, a burly Youngling of Human descent, looking to be around the age of 11 or 12.

He was sniggering at her lightheartedly, speaking in between chuckles.

"I ask for a youngling of more my skill level, and I get a girl, and not even a strong one. Do they underestimate me?"

"I'm sure not. You're the one doing the underestimating here, a quality you'll need to lose if you wish to pass the Initiate exams."

"Because I'm sure you already have."

She gave but a smirk, and raised her lightsaber, on its lowest setting and perfect for training duals.

The other did the same, and they bowed before assuming a ready position.

The boy was the first to move, dashing in with a volley of quick swipes and rolling past Ze'Taki after she had either blocked or dodged each one.

Ataru-style. Hmm.

She moves to a side, blocking with her extended blade, before flipping it down to her normal size and taking note of her opponent's placement as he strikes out again. The sabers collide, and she grins and deactivates her saber, side-stepping as she does and letting the surprised human fall past her. He's only barely able to recover as she takes the offensive side of the dual for the first time, extending and retracting the blade's length to make the most of the dual-phasing.

They battle on, ignoring the group of younger younglings that have gathered around to watch.

The Rage of The Shadow Warriors runs through 38's mind. The sound of the drums beat makes his heart race. Currently he sits inside his barrack and is running a review on his last mission. The harsh world that he last went into reminded him of a very fuzzy home world with lots of trees. Now the sound of the song comes in and he feels more 'energy' coming in to him.

Dha Werda Verda a'den tratu! Coruscanta kandosii atu! Duum motir ca'tra nau tracinya! Gra'tua cuun hett su dralshy'a! Taung!

He then shakes his head, and gets up. "I really need to stop thinking about that song." He then heads over the simulator to keep himself in check and ready for battle.

IC (NPC Jedi):"It'd be far better if the Council didn't have to resort to that." Master Bn'sen frowned as the Artisan showed off his latest toy. "I'm concerned about you, Nentir. You've been clinging obsessively onto a memory. It's been ten years." He gestured at the untouched workspace. "You should move forward. Clean up his old space, and maybe consider passing on your skills to a new apprentice."The bear of a man rose to his feet, and began to move towards the door. "There are more than a few younglings that are looking for a Knight to shepherd them. Think about the good you could do, beyond devising new distractions from yourself."Master Bn'sen stopped at the threshold, sighed and turned back to Draln. "Master Yttro and I have arranged for some of the younglings to demonstrate their skills today at the training facilities. You're welcome to join us, if you wish."

IC: Jaceren

The Sith apprentice passed many CIS droids as he made his way through the ship. They were useful machines but to Jaceren they weren't much more than that. Disposable troops that could be rebuilt and repaired. A droid army was much more functional then the fumbling Republic soldiers. Jaceren passed a few other Sith on his way to the training facilities. He said nothing to them. Sometimes it was better to with hold one's tongue unless it was necessary. For when Jaceren did finally speak he would have attention. Jaceren knew there were power in words, there was power when a Sith aligned pledged himself to the Dark Side and the Sith Order. Jaceren remembered that moment with great detail. He'd heard that perhaps Lord Salvador was conducting a training lesson, Jaceren thought it would be wise to attend. The more skill he acquired the better.

GM IC
Coruscant, Middle Levels
It was a normal enough convoy of vehicles, a few cargo loaders making their way up to the higher levels of the city or perhaps to one of the old industrial sections. This was, of course, a hoax of the highest order. Inside the lead craft, protected from the prying eyes of any curious beings, a cabal had gathered around a metal table. They were a strange group to say the least, one Chiss, two humans and one hulking Trandoshan. All wore what was clearly clone armor, though cobbled together and often mismatched. In the underworld, one made do with what one could get.
The Chiss, Trentin, was in the twenties. Her hair was, despite her reduced circumstances, well-cared for. Trentin had the typical features of a Chiss, ruby-red eyes, blue skin and a slightly more arrogant then usual bearing. “Well boys…” Her voice was mixture of an outer rim drawl and the clipped scent of core worlds, a strange sound to hear this close to the surface. “Just ran the final checks. Everything’s in place.”
The Trandoshan, a hulking brute going by the name of Tull, spoke up next. “Yeah, well. You’d better be right about this. Don’t like it. Pullin a job this close to the surface an all….” The green-skinned reptile shook his head. “Don’t see why we gotta do it is all. Lottsa pickings down below and no troopers ta fight us.”
Trentin sighed. “Did the math. One job on the surface equals a hundred in the below. We’ll be set if we can pull this off. Set. ‘Sides, bit late to talk about it now isn’t it? Get to your positions. Things are gonna get interesting real fast.” Without another word, Trentin slammed a helmet on her head and headed to the back of the transport. With a shrug, Tull followed her.
One of the humans, a Korun with a rather garish set of tattoos running across his face, shook his head. "Those two really need to stop. I mean, we've been at this for awhile now. You'd think they'd have settled things by now."
The other human, a tanned native of Tatooine let out a hearty laugh. "You sunblind or something Hel? That was a lovers spat if I ever saw one. The aftermath at least."
Hel's eyes widened for a minute. "You mean..."
"Yep. Now c'mon, Trentin won't be happy if we aren't there for her big moment." With that, Antil pulled on his own helmet and followed after Trentin, with Hel close behind.

IC (Vel Orral)

Vel entered the room silently, his mask hiding his face from the gathered Sith. It's been simple enough to pull on his standard battlewear before he left his room. His lightsaber was clipped at his side and beside it was a small device that would summon the local security droids if anything went astray. This was the center of the Sith Order's power, it was best not to take chances. Vel made his way around the edges of the room and settled into one of the corners, content to watch the battles as they unfolded. His blaster, of course, was hidden in the folds of his robe. It always paid to be cautious.

IC: San Vroon (Jedi Temple)

"That is enough for today," San Vroon said to the collection of youngling Jedi children before him.

"Awh, but I want to learn more about the different planets and how to channel the Force!" a young human Jedi cried out.

"Those are wise ambitions young one but you must remember to channel your emotions better. Tomorrow you will learn more." he nodded. The youngling seemed to accept this and filled out of the classroom along with the rest. The Kel Dorian left the room himself and began walking through the temple. He was walking down the hall when he overheard a snippet of Master Bn'sen conversation. Sam had been planning to head to the library like he did on a number of days like this. He was quite content to browse the amazing amount of Jedi knowledge in the data-files. He turned his head towards Master Bn'sen and contemplated for a moment.

"I think I will join you as well. I have been interested in acquiring a Padawan now for some time."

GM IC (Lehon, Home of the Old Rakatan Empire):

An Kappa-class shuttle cut its way out of hyperspace, over a lonely planet situated in the Unknown Regions. The starship banked slightly, navigating through a field of free floating metal debris.

The Duros pilot, adjusted the shuttle's course as it approached the blue marble-like planet, passing through the large metal ring that encircled the planet. One would hardly have noticed it, but amidst the twisted durasteel, a red light blinked three times, before disappearing. The grey-skinned alien smirked slightly and spoke into his commlink. "Attention, passengers, this is your pilot, Andros Meleen, speaking. We are beginning our final descent to the planet Lehon. The weather on the tropical paradise is humid, and we should be landing a few hours before sun-down.""Please ensure that your seatbel-Ow!" The Duros Jedi Knight's monologue was cut off abruptly. When he returned, one could almost feel the chastening he had received in his subdued voice. "We will be landing shortly."

Demnel Limaech, a Barabel Jedi Master, strode out of the piloting module of the shuttle, into the passenger section located in the aft. The reptilian Jedi entered the section silently, watching the group of Padawans. Several were playing sabaac in a corner. One, a slender female Hapan, was blindfolded, deflecting plasma bolts from a remote. A Togorian was meditating, floating gently above the floor. Master Limaech glared at the group for a moment, before tapping his wooden cane on the metal floor."Padawansss." The Master's gravelly voice was grave. "We are approaching the planet Lehon, once the homeworld of the Rakatan Infinite Empire. As the shuttle cut through the atmosphere, the Padawans could see the oceanic surface below, dotted with islands and wreckage from a thousand ships. Andros' voice cut through the communications system once more. "We will be beginning our stay on one of the planet's archipelagos. Watch out for rancors."The Duros brought the shuttle over one of the clearings in the jungle, extending landing gear and bringing it down carefully. "Kids, welcome to Lehon."

IC (NPC - Master Bn'sen):

"I look forward to seeing you there, Draln." Bn'sen turned. "Ah, master Vroon. You are most welcome to join." The human Jedi had a measured pace as he walked down the hallways of the Jedi Temple. A group of chattering younglings passed by the two Jedi, waving at the Kel Dor.The brawny Master stroked his beard contemplatively, then glanced at the Kel Dor. "Well, it certainly looks like classes went well again today. Has the potential of one of your students finally caught your eye?"

IC: San Vroon

The Jedi Knight walked alongside Bn'sen. He nodded at the youngling children as they waved at him. "So they did," he agreed. "A few have, but they are still very young. I am too close to most of them as it is. Perhaps finding a young Padawan from outside the children I instruct would be best."

IC (Anshar Rune): Anshar skidded to a stop just outside the entrance of the Renaissance's training quarters, pale hands tying together a stray strap on his outer tunic. The Sith Apprentice brushed a bit of imaginary dirt off of his tunic, checked to make sure his lightsaber was properly attached to his belt, and entered the training area cautiously.

The young Sith squeezed between a weary-looking Ithorian apprentice and the wall, before taking his place amongst the other apprentices. A number of them had faces concealed by masks, carrying on a grand Sith tradition that had existed since Darth Revan. Rune rotated his shoulder slightly, feeling the tension in his joints ebb away. His hooded mask remained down, revealing his wavy dark curls.Lord Salvador Oro, in all his painted glory, stood at the center of the training ring. "Fann." Rune raised his hand to his face instinctively. He hadn't had time to apply his usual facepaint. The hybrid discretely slipped his hand back to his side, shifting his weight from one leg to another ever so slightly.

IC (NPC - Master Bn'sen):Bn'sen's grin was subdued. "That is remarkably prudent of you, Vroon. Most of the Initiates Master Yttro and I have gathered for this particular test are getting close to their thirteenth birthday. With so many of numbers scattered about the galaxy, taking the fight to the Separatists and the Sith, many of our older Initiates run the risk of being relegated to the Service Corps."The human Master rounded a corner, moving towards the training facilities. "So, what prompted your interest in a more one-on-one teaching method, master Vroon?"

IC: Ze'Taki (Training Room)

Blocking another attack and pushing the youngling back, she draws on the Force for a second to quickly get a sense of his exhaustion. She's in luck, the human's tiring. Considering she's dodged or blocked most of his attacks and nearly hit him with a few of her own, it's not surprising. Ze'Taki herself is beginning to feel the burning in her muscles.

Deciding it's time to attempt to end this, the Shi'ido blocks another of the Human's slashes, pivoting to follow him as he leapt past and then sidestepped behind her. As he recovers, she lashes out, making contact with the youngling's arm.

He lets out a small yelp of pain, as Ze'Taki lowers her lightsaber to his neck.

"Do you cede?"

"I cede."

Smiling and deactivation the saber, she extends a hand. The boy takes it, shaking it before they dip into a quick bow.

"Good match. I nearly got hit a couple of times by those rolls, but you should be careful to watch your back while doing them."

"I'll keep that in mind. That quick changing of yours between off, short, and long is quite surprising. It took me a while to figure out how to get past that.."

The two move to the side to let another pair step up to begin battling, discussing their dual among other things.

It's always a good idea to improve by learning from those who you've fought, if possible. They can see what your weaknesses were and your strengths as well, allowing them to give a unique critique.

She finds this also allows her to cooldown after fighting, return to a normal state of mind.

Relaxing, in a way.

GM IC

Coruscant, Glittering Sky Casino

Very few patrons of the casino noted the cargo loaders moving by the massive windows, they were absorbed in the scenery or by the glittering gambling halls that stretched throughout the building. There was enough wealth in one level of the casino to buy a small skyscraper. Normally, it's public place and the armed guards would dissuade any would-be robbers.

Not so for Trentin. Who was standing proudly in front of her fellow gangers when the transports suddenly swung about and opened their back cargo compartments. On cue, a rain of gas grenades shattered the window and filled the casino with a potent sleeping gas. The guards had time to raise their blasters, but the gas was already in their systems. Within seconds they hit floor, dead to the world for all intents and purposes.

"Well boys and girls. Have at it! Remember, fifty percent of the haul goes to the gang! Rest is yours! Move out!" Trentin activated the jetpack on the back of her armor and boosted across the gap and into the casino, followed by her top lieutenants and the elite of the swoop gangs she had united.

The transports pulled closer and closer to the shattered window, eventually hovering over the floor of the casino itself....and then, dropping along ropes and cables, came the rest of the swoop gang, all wearing breath masks and sporting blasters. Some of the customers and guards might have been immune to the sleeping guess, it was hard to tell with popular establishments like this. They drew in all kinds.

Moments later, the wisdom of going in armed was confirmed when a guard tried to rush a group of the looters. The Kel Dor went down in a flurry of stun bolts. That was the only disturbance they encountered. The rest of the operation went as planned.

Patrons were stripped of their valuables, machines were broken into and the credits contained therein were stuffed into bags, crates, whatever containers they could find. All told, the gang was a couple million credits richer in the first fifteen minutes of the operations. Trentin, still shoving credits into a nearby crate, suddenly cursed under her breath. "Right. Scouts say the police are on the way. Pull back!"

When the police arrived, sirens blazing and blasters primed, they'd find only sleeping patrons, guards and a sea of broken machines.

IC: Salvador Oro | ---> The Renaissance | Training Quarters

Enough time had passed, and Salvador was now prepared for another lesson to teach. Most of the Apprentices gathered here were different than the last time, though he noted a few remained.

"For a Sith, the lightsaber is your most powerful weapon." he began. "But only in the physical sense. In the metaphysical realm, your lightsaber is nothing more than a colored vibroblade. What you are to study today is a technique far more powerful than any lightsaber form. Something that can destroy a Jedi's concentration, disrupt the anger of a Sith, and spell doom in the most unorthodox of ways."

"You know it as Dun Möch. It is the most primal tecnique, predating even Shii-Cho. For while Shii-Cho was designed for the lightsaber itself, Dun Möch is a style designed simply to exist. It is used alongside other, more fanciful styles. Lightsaber forms that involve rushed combat are harder for one to make full advantage of it, of course."

"Are any of you familiar with what, exactly, Dun Möch is, beyond a Sith technique? Its definition, if you would."

"Dun Moch? Making your enemy doubt himself, his intentions, disrupting his connection to the force and making their emotions unstable. Often through verbal taunts or sparring." Vel paused for a moment, recalling the holocron that he'd learned it from. "Correctly executing it requires great patience if I remember correctly. It can also backfire on the user. The...boomerang effect I believe."

GM IC (Renaissance, Sith Academy, Tactical Center)

Nestled in the heart of the Renaissance was a dark room, lit by the glow of a holomap and unnatural orbs of light that hovered near the roof.

Seated on a simple, but large black chair, Darth Scitus basked in the red glow of the holomap that stretched before him. Today, like every day, was a beautiful one. One to be treasured. He closed his eyes in reverence, when a tiny pinging noise caught his attention. The Dark Lord of the Sith rose to his feet, and paced over to the holomap, his glossy black cane tapping softly against the floor.

As he walked, the Sith ran his hand through the leaves of the trees that lined the chamber. Scitus pulled back his hood, sulfur-yellow eyes scanning the holomap. There, nestled amongst the blue holographic display of the galaxy, was a pinprick of red light. With a thought, the map swirled, zooming in on the source of the light.

A thin smile spread across the Dark Lord of the Sith's face. Stretching out his hand, the Sith grasped the pinprick of light, removing it from the holomap, and "tossing" the holographic image into a slot. The main map dimmed, as a brighter and larger projection appeared. Scitus studied the information on the projection for a moment, before stretching out his hands and "rolling" it up into a ball. Darth Scitus turned to a Mirialan Sith, swathed in black robes. "Darth Recusatia." He took the holographic "ball" of information and placed it in the Sith Lady's hands. "It seems that a gift for us has been sent to the Unknown Regions by our friends on Coruscant. Please assemble an appropriate group to retrieve it."OOC: Think Minority Report for a visual. :3

IC: Nentir Draln. Jedi Temple

after Bn'sen had left, Nentir sat down again, gazing at the clea, empty table. not a single person had touched any of it since he had had his apprentice. "Bn'sen is right. I have dwelled on this too long. maybe I'll find a new padawan to teach" he remembered what times he had had with his former padawan. he had been progressing quite well. suddenly pushed his chair back, stood up, and walked out of the workshop

"Correct you are." Salvador replied. He couldn't think of this apprentice's name either. Val? Vil? Vayl? Something.

"This boomerang effect is what many users of the technique fear. Against users of more offensive styles of combat, the boomerang can be deadly. When you lack defense and find your offense is now the lesser, you lose your advantage entirely. Which is why you must learn how and when."

"There are three steps to victory. First, there is knowing your enemy. Second is exploiting your enemy. Third is dominating your enemy. You must do it in this order, or you will fail. If you exploit your enemy without knowing them, you cannot dominate them. If you try to dominate them without knowing them, then neither shall take place. And if you know your enemy but do not exploit it, you cannot dominate them."

"Dun Möch is your way of exploiting an enemy. Taunts must be meaningful. If you face an adversary but cannot stir them to action, you are merely distracting yourself. Distractions can make one annoyed, which leads to rashness of action, which leads to mistakes. And mistakes are deadly against our enemies."

"There is a converse to a lack of action, which is the boomerang effect. It is when you know your enemy, but do not know your enemy. You know about them, but not about them. There's a difference between the two. And timing is vital. You must know when to deliver your psychological blows, in order to enrage your enemy at the right moment."

"Can any of you think of an example?"

IC (RC-8358 "Werda"; Clone Barracks, Coruscant):

Stepping outside of the barracks to clear his mind, 58 let his mind wander for a bit. Old missions, training, how to wire up explosives, everything to train came rushing back to him. Realizing it had been a week since his arrival in Coruscant, he decided it was time to hit the Simulators. He looked over at some of the fresh Troopers.

'They seem to be having a good time. Might as well let them have it.'

"Boss! Da needle is pointin' in da red! Dat ain't good!"
"Course it's good ya squealin' runt! Red goes fastah!"

38 went and grabbed his gear from a locker and got setup for a simulation. He always wondered what it was like in battle with a spider droid. he heard stories about it. Some where they were able to defeat them by attacking them in a certain location. Others, died by underestimating the sheer power it had. The cannon nose, and the small hidden rocket launchers on the back that no one could see.

He didn't know if the rockets part was true, but he needed to find out, and with that he headed to the simulation room. He loaded up his DC-17 Rifle and looked over the simulations. He the looked over his shoulder and saw another Commando.

OOC: @Zak - Something for Ze'Taki.

@Lord - Something for Madame Vastra and Jenny. ;)IC (Anshar Rune):

Rune made eye contact with Lord Salvador. "Dun Moch can be interpreted as a process, like the erosion of rocks by the wind and the rain. The most straight-forward way to destabilize an opponent would be in the form of insults, taunts, and other verbal jabs applied during combat. I believe that waiting for opportunities to use Dun Moch restricts its potential." The Sith Apprentice paused for a second to collect his thoughts. "If the aim of Dun Moch is to engender doubt, create distractions and disrupt an opponents' connection to the Force, I believe that we are to make the right moments to deliver a psychological blow. I'd imagine that this can take any shape, from irritating an opponent by disrupting the environment throughout a fight, to feigning weakness to lure them into overextending their position, or creating effective diversions to draw their attention.""As for an example of its use..." Anshar sifted through his mind, electing not to use a power he actually commanded as an example.

"If I were skilled in mindspeech." Rune's use of the Nightsister term for telepathy was unusual. "I would speak of the wrongs committed by the Republic on battlefields like Jabiim, and project images of Jedi atrocities to my opponent, while either evading, or concealing myself from his attacks. The frustration of not being able to lash out directly against me, and the psychic application of Dun Moch would no doubt cause a Jedi to question the cause for which he fights. It would probably create an opening that could be exploited."

IC (NPC Jedi - Master Yttro): As Ze'Taki and her sparring partner conversed with one another, a soft scent filled the room, similar to the smell of chokecherry blossoms on a warm spring day. Jedi Councilor Yttro, Chief Librarian of the Jedi Archives, walked into the hall. Her sure, measured pace almost gave the Jedi Master the appearance of gliding. A voice like the wind's whisper in the trees spoke in Ze'Taki's mind. "Ze'Taki, please, take a walk with me." The Sylphe Jedi, her "hair" a cascade of tiny white blossoms, turned to Ze'Taki, and stretched out her hand, inviting the youngling to take it. The Master smiled, her gentle voice speaking directly to the Shi'ido's mind. "Congratulations on the completion of your Initiate Trials. I trust that you have been well since then. Have any of the Knights expressed an interest in selecting you as a Padawan?"IC (NPC Black Sun/Hutt - Nar Shaddaa): Things were very bad. Very bad indeed. This was the mantra that bounded and rebounded in the mind of Nian Tavv, a nervous looking Sullustan scurrying into The Grey Lady's hangar bay. Tavv, a Nar Shaddaan hair stylist and lower-level employee of the Black Sun & Hutt Cartel alliance rubbing his hands nervously as he approached Djashell Shan and her partner.

"Good day, gooday, Mistress Shan, Fonnta." The Sullustan raised his hand in a greeting, his black almond eyes gleaming, looking to and fro. "Something unfortunate has happened, and a short-notice job has come up from Coruscant." The diminutive Near-Human took a small flask from his robes, and uncorked it, taking a swig nervously. "Someone in Coruscant hijacked a spice shipment before it landed. From what we know, it's a swoop gang based in the lower levels. Our contacts in Coruscant Guard have informed us that these upstarts recently performed a heist on the Glittering Sky Casino, which is owned by a friend of the Prince.""The Prince asked me to get someone to smuggle some spice to Coruscant, and find the thieves. 7,000 credits for each of the ringleaders, alive, plus 7% of the profits from the spice shipment if it is completed successfully. I figured that you two would be perfect for the job." Oddly enough, the Sullustan was visibly sweating, despite the fairly standard message he was delivering.

IC: Djashell had had years of studying body language in her line of work. It was important to know whether your current partner was about to pat you on the back or shoot you in it. And when she saw someone from a superheated world like Sullust sweating when standing in a big airy hangar she got a little suspicious. It was possible he was just nervous at being around bounty hunters, but if you had that attitude you got the Hela off of Nar Shaddaa. Besides, it alway paid to be cautious.

"There some catch here?" Djashell inquired, innocently, "The Lady isn't ideal for smuggling after all, there are better haulers out there."

IC: Nentir Draln. jedi temple (libraries)

Nentire walked through the library, the immense amount of knowledge surrounding him like water. he wasn't simply browsing either. if he did take on a padawan, he would teach them a little of everything, how to let the force through tier body, how to deflect blasters, how to heal, and so on. he passed several padawans and knights. giving them a small wave of the hand or a low greeting, he strode pass them, on towards the teaching section. he knew he wasn't supposed to run in the Jedi Temple unless it was an emergency, but he couldn't resist giving himself a little boost. he reached the archive where the knowledge he wanted was located.

IC (NPC - Nian Tavv):"Thank the gods you asked." The Sullustan's eyes widened slightly. The Near-Human plopped down on a small crate. "The shipment is mostly a diversion to draw out the thieves. Prince Xizor specified that it be kept at under 30 tons." He glanced at the YT-1210. "I suppose he doesn't wish to the 7% to be too much, if the delivery is successful.""I must apologize for my nerves." He sighed. "The catch is on me. I'm not in the Boss' good graces. I made a bad investment a few months ago. Then, the Prince specified that I pick the best to catch the spice thieves. I'm just a lowly majordomo for one of his apartments here with a nice hairstyling business on the side. He knows I don't know the bounty hunting circuit very well." The Sullust trembled slightly with fear."Anyways, Risssk, the Trandoshan I sent to track down the spice thieves was found in a back alley with half his chest taken by a disruptor blast." The hair stylist's voice broke a litle. "The Prince had Bubbles, my dwarf nuna disrupted too.""If you're unable to apprehend them, I fear that he might mete out some punishment on my poor head." The Sullustan sighed once more and took a long drink from his flask. "Mistress Shan, you and Miss Fonnta are essentially my only hope."OOC: Most of the easily accessible books would be in a holo format. Edited by Madara: Mangekyou Master

IC: Ze'Taki (Training Hall)

"Of course, Master."

She gives the Sylphe a smile, taking her hand while speaking over her shoulder to the human boy.

"I've got to go now. Perhaps we could spar again, sometime!"

Giving her full attention to the Librarian, the Shi'ido now replies to the words of the Jedi, speaking in a light tone and still smiling, not overly cheerfully but more just peacefully happily.

"Thank you, Master, they were quite the challenge. I have indeed, there's not much around the Temple to cause me not to be. And sadly, not really. One or two have given me a look, but they're more interested in the younglings that they can see themselves in, or ones that wish to follow the same profession as they have. The few that aren't looking for that just don't seem to be interested in a shape-shifting youngling that uses one of the more controversial styles in conjunction with one of the main 7 forms of lightsaber wielding.."

She sighs, before shrugging and continuing.

"Eh well. Perhaps if I'm put into a government job I can work at the library until I've matured enough to truly do it.. That'd be nice.."

"Psychological warfare is not so easy as you would make it out to be." Salvador responded to Rune. "You speak here of exploitation without knowing your enemy, which is an easy way to subject yourself to the 'boomerang effect'. If you fail to understand your enemy, you open yourself to the full power of the Dark Side; even in a Jedi who has repressed it."

"Taunts, insults; you are correct in saying they are simple. And sometimes less than effective, true. Placing thoughts of doubt without knowing your enemy is the same thing as speaking without knowing. Taking thoughts from your enemy, on the other hand, lets you make any means of deception far more effective. And if you cannot use the Force in such a manner, so what? There are other, simpler ways to gather information."

"You believe waiting for an opprotunity removes potential. You are too rash. You think that simply scaring a Jedi will work. You think that showing them an atrocity or two will make them doubt. But both sides are sources of atrocity in this war. What if your evoking thoughts of them merely reminds the Jedi of ones done against them? What if they simply become more dedicated to your destruction, instead of questioning why they would do it? But if you knew them... if you studied them, and put that knowledge to use... if you spoke to them with silver words, rather than empty thoughts..."

"Waiting for an opprotunity does not take your advantage. It enhances the ones you had."

OOC: Oh snap! Someone got served. XD

IC (Anshar Rune): Anshar felt his ears get warm as Lord Salvador meticulously dissected his response. The warmth in his ears spread to his neck, edging onto his face. The Sith Lord scientifically pointed out potential flaws in the Apprentice's line of thought, while directing him to a more effective answer. Rune felt his gut tense a little. "How could I have missed that?"

"Waiting for an opprotunity does not take your advantage. It enhances the ones you had."

"Thank you, Lord Oro. I will take that to heart." Rune felt his blood grow hot on his cheeks. Thankfully, by some quirk of his Kage heritage, the Apprentice's blush wasn't as painfully obvious as that of a Human. Still his hooded mask would have been very helpful in this particular circumstance.
