  1. Hi everyone! As SKE2 looms near (8 days away!!) I have an important announcement to make. As some of you may know this game far outpaced my expectations. I've been scuttling around like a dizzy ussal to keep up, and you're all part of an incredible community that we all worked on and grew together. That said, some of you have asked if I'm okay, if I'm hanging in there, and if I should seek out some help. I'm not one to hold onto something and horde it like a dragon. So I asked someone to join the GM team for SKE in April. I've always found them to be genuinely friendly, collaborative, and ready to make a story with others. In a sense, you could say they "play well." Please give a big congratulations to @Vezok's Friend!

  2. IC: Mata-Nui, Cortex The conversation inside His own head was halted for a moment. Mata-Nui's mind raced, and His identity shifted again. This time, a flood of memories bled into His others. He remembered the beach... and the skies... and the sands... and the sights of the city on fire.. of the city before the fire... the city before the war... the city form the view inside His office... He was there now, holding on to a mighty blue Titan, and the Titan stared back... and dared to hold Him down.. the others were there too, reading Him... they would not know... few were left who truly knew, now one less without Dume... many of the ancient beings worked so hard... to thwart Him... they left Him... yet We were not gone.. We were always returning... ...images of an island....when it was lush and peaceful... the new memories named it Z A K A Z... there they all worked... they toiled night and day even before there was night and day... building the ark... building their escape... yet We would not be left... memories of a thousand conversations flashed through Our heads and mind... talks with the Dark Ones... who were they? Why did they exist to thwart My will? Their faces ever-changing... their beings ever changing... without them, I would not be away... yet I am returning... they have failed to stop Us... their island in the Silver Sea will be the first to fall once We return... and that island with the forges... memories of the Ancient Ones working there... We must destroy their ancient forges... We must avenge every moment My world abandoned me... ...memories of the long life in the central citadel... watching the Matoran... sleeping above My mind... hoarding my heart... memories of- And the memories ended. The consciousness returned to what it was... a thousand flickers flashing all at once, then silence again... a voice was heard, "Immolate him," then the blue Titan disappeared from vision... from knowing... Mata-Nui focused again. Before Him, the two warriors were still eyeing Him with caution. They still possessed that artifact... the old one's memories gave it a name... "I require the Krom Sphere. Please, let me love you again. Give me what's Mine, and be proud in joining Me."

  3. IC: Knichou, Dume's office Knichou closed his eyes as he was immersed in bright light, his senses overloading as he fell backwards. WARNING: POWER MOVEMENT SYSTEM OVERLOAD Eyes closed, Knichou could only feel the changes, and listen to the voice of his armor that only he could hear. WARNING: REACTIVE ARMOR COMPROMISED Knichou was extremely curious how his armor would react to the change. WARNING: METAMORPHOSIS DETECTED The system had been built to handle Toa, Turaga, and Matoran. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION But as far as Knichou knew it had never been tested during a transformation. WAR-R-R-NING Knichou felt strange as he began to... feel. DANGE-R-R-R: CRI-T-T-ICAL FA-I-I-I-LURE Knichou could feel the suit. A-L-L-L-ERT: GENERAL F-F-FAILU-R-R-R-E Knichou could feel it moving, the nanites flowing. R-R-R-EBOOTI-N-N-N-G . . . Knichou could feel the floor he was on. W-W-W-ELCOME Not just the floor but the walls, the ceiling. HIGH IMPACT REACTIVE ARMOR . . . ACTIVATED Not just the room, but those in it. ATMOSPHERIC CONTAMINANT SENSORS . . . ACTIVATED It was some kind of sixth sense. VITAL SIGN MONITORING . . . ACTIVATED If it was metal, Knichou could feel it. DEFENSIVE WEAPON SELECTION SYSTEM . . . ACTIVATED Knichou opened his eyes to see the ceiling. MUNITION LEVEL MONITORING . . . ACTIVATED As the adaptive armor continued to reboot, more systems came online in Knichou's heads-up display. COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE . . . ONLINE Blinking rapidly, Knichou began to slowly sit up, clutching his head with a hand as if that would stop the massive headache. POWER ASSIST MOVEMENT . . . ACTIVATED The transformation may have been quick, but the strange mix of pain and pleasure did lingered. POWER LEVEL IS ONE HUNDRED PERCENT Knichou held his other hand in front of his face, stretching it and continuing to adjust to the movements of a new body. HAVE A VERY SAFE DAY The ex-Ghost watched as the purple coloring of his hands shifted darker, turning into a solid crimson. Even centuries later, the protocols of the suit would continue to judge his actions as he violated more of his guild's code. Knichou stood up to view Zataka incinerating Dume's silent corpse. He was at a loss for words. Equally strong a force as his shock, he was at peace knowing the next steps. He had a plan now, and knew where his destiny was waiting. "Dume is of no use to us now. He did what he could, and I hope that it was enough. We must find the machine so I can repair it and bring an end to this war. The path to victory is one nobody, not even Dume, can predict..." "Which is why I'll need to find it myself" The new toa turned to Stannis. "Goodbye, friend. May Mata Nui protect you in the battle to come. If I don't see you again... well... we both know what to do."

  4. IC [Zataka, Coliseum - Dume’s Office]: “Had to be sure.” Zataka said. She stood up, still holding the undead, struggling Turaga by his neck. She lifted him up and turned until his back was towards the blown out window. Then, energy began to glow between her fingers. The effect grew rapidly, obscuring the Turaga more and more from view until he was barely a silhouette amidst a blinding light that suddenly discharged, shooting out the window, disintegrating the being that had once been Dume and leaving nothing but particulate and the smell of ozone in the air. Zataka sighed. For as flawed as he had been, this was a sad end for a ruler like Dume. There was a moment of silence as those present in the office bore witness to the end of an era. Then the titan turned and looked at Stannis and the other Toa: “Go. Do what you do best. I will do the same from here. I have something in mind that should give the league pause.” She stepped up to the desk with the distorted holographic interface Stannis had pulled up still visible. The dark hunter they'd immobilized had gone and sat down in the chair. Zataka stepped up next to her and reached past her towards the interface. "Excuse me." It was complex in functions, but easy enough to navigate. The warlord pulled up the public address system. She took a moment to familiarize herself with the controls, then hit the ‘broadcast’ control. She wasn’t entirely sure how the system recorded her, but she could see her mirror image on the display in front of her and a status light indicating she was live. Across the city, screens and holograms flickered to life. Some were broken and distorted, but even so it was clear the face being broadcast right now was not the Turaga the Matoran were used to seeing this way. The cold, hard eyes of the dark titan in his place gazed down on the war-torn streets. “Citizens of Metru-Nui.” she began. Her voice echoed through the chasms between knowledge towers and skyscrapers, carried across the sculpture fields and refineries, rang out in the depths of the archives and great temple: “This is Zataka. Turaga Dume’s rule is at an end. I have taken control of the city’s defenses." "Somewhere in each Metru is a Barraki. I want them dealt with. Until I get what I want the city is on lock-down. Martial law is hereby in effect." "All dark hunters operating in the city: There will be a reward for proof of every league soldier you bring down. All league soldiers: Reconsider your loyalties. All non-combatants: Stay out of the way and take shelter until the fighting is over.” “As for the Barraki: You can surrender. You can run. It makes no difference. You are mine now.”

  5. IC: Leonn - Po-Metru (Boss Fight) He squinted at the two engaging with the boisterous warlord. A dark, innate and vindictive hope began to fester in his mind. He could wait. In fact, I should wait. I should allow the Toa wear themselves out fighting or be pulverized by Carapar and his moronic warhorn. They deserve it, for what they did... Yet, Carapar's form irritated him more. The buffoon bantering on about whatever tale he'd make up about the battle he was fighting. An absolute waste of effort on Leonn's part, but one that had seemingly cost him something he was only recently beginning to realize how much he valued. Not to mention the dwindling dregs of dignity that were being scooped up by being kept as a prisoner. All that sacrificed, just to silence such a dribbling cretin. No, I should be the one to gut the crab myself. It'd be cathartic. For what trouble he's caused me. Coming from behind Carapar, Leonn drew his stun-knife, boiling irritation and frustration ready to come to the surface. OOC: @Unreliable Narrator @Snelly IC: Thom - Onu-Metru (Reunion) "Eya sweetheart!" He shot a thumbs up at Nale as she realized who he was. "Ah prefer Patchy, if ya please. Nought wrong with Patchy." He scratched the eye beneath his eyepatch. "Got a right journey to tell ya of, once ya not cuttin' up Mantax's goons." He looked exceedingly happy to be there, like everything had come together. "So, who are you lot then?" He glanced to Arkius and the droid he'd named 'Boltsy'. OOC: @Tarn @Onaku @pokemonlover360

  7. IC: The Swordsman - Ta-Metru It was taking everything I had to stay conscious. Pain screamed through my body, my head was pounding like a drum, and my vision was slowly darkening. I ran a hand down my face, and when I pulled it away my palm was as red as my armor. I knew there would be consequences for staying behind, for staying to combat the League all on my own...but I could not just let them destroy this district, and murder the innocent lives that inhabited it. Already this place had seen a zombie horde of all things, and now it had the Six Kingdoms to worry about to boot. In the back of my mind, I wondered if Zecrillia had made it to Dume with the disk, and of the actual significance behind those things and the search for them. Even further, I saw memories that only came to me in the moments I was not strong enough to repress them, and as they bombarded me I contemplated whether this was what people meant when they would say, "I saw my life flash before me." I stumbled about like a drunk before the imposing Kekamaire that, at the moment, was winning this duel, before falling to the ground in a slump, my sword barely holding me up as I leaned against it. I wanted to rest. I wanted to drift to sleep, away from the pain, from the horrors the district of fire was facing, from this world that had gone sour. I fought to keep my eyes open, orange optics becoming slits of color as my eyelids became heavy. My mind screamed to get up--to finish the #####, cut him to pieces--but my body...my body... The scene shifted as my world went black. *** It's then. I'm not in Ta-Metru any more. There's a woman. She's standing on a dock--somewhere in Ga-Metru, I think, based on the impressive liquid protodermis falls I see nearby--and doing...what? Waiting for something? No, someone. Waiting for me. I creep behind her, before surprising her with a hug from behind, wrapping my arms around her waist. Her armor is gunmetal and black, mine is a pristine dark red. Magnetism and fire. "You think you can sneak up on me still?" she asks, her tone sounding annoyed but she's smiling. I'm smiling too. This is nice. Metru Nui is glistening towers and the sea isn't red with blood yet and, I think, somewhere deep down...I still have a heart. "No," is my reply, "but it's a habit when you wear a mask that turns you invisible. I snuck up on Kavi the other day and he almost caused a tornado before he realized it was just me." I pull away and she turns to face me, laughing at my anecdote. Her hair is down, like always, and the angles of her Kakama have never been nicer. She's a young Toa. We both are. Icy blue eyes meet my gaze. Behind her, twin suns are setting. She asks, "Did you want to meet here for a reason, or just to be alone with me?" "Maybe both," I reply, sly as ever. She crosses her arms, eyebrow raised, a playful smirk on her face like I've come to expect. In the distance, I see what looks like a razor whale breaching, but maybe I imagine it. I say, "I just wanted to speak to you, I suppose." "You can always talk to me, Datrox," she replies, and for some reason her saying that name creates a distortion like a broken radio. Maybe I just haven't heard it in a while, maybe I need to clean out my audio receptors. Why am I here to talk to her? I think I've forgotten. "I know, I know. We've felt distant lately though, everyone keeps going on their own missions. When was the last time we all did something together, as a team?" "I seem to recall when we formed the Toa Rode you told me that you didn't like working with a team." "People change." She shrugs. "I guess you did." "Nale, do you hear a ringing?" "What?" It's there. She doesn't hear it. There's a persistent ringing in my ears. It's gotten stronger as we've spoken, to the point I can't ignore it. But she doesn't hear it, and doesn't notice that the sunset has frozen in place, and now the sky looks like a mural. The razor whale breaches again behind her. "Maybe...it's nothing," I say. It's not. The memory isn't playing back right. I'm not standing on the dock, am I? Her face distorts in a disturbing manner, and the sea is turning into fire. It's not ringing I'm hearing, it's screaming. Nale tries to speak to me, but her voice is barely audible over it, and she's saying, "You should probably get up. You should probably get up." For a moment, the world flickers, and I can see the facade for what it really is, and before I can say anything else the spectre before me shoves me off the dock and I drown. *** My vision became clear again. I coughed up blood, and realized I was still on the Ta-Metru street before the beast with an axe. More importantly, I was still alive. Whether it was the will of a merciful God or His idea of a joke, my heart still beat, if only to pump more blood to spill out of my wounds. My knees wobbled as I got to my feet. My Kanohi and my sword were still intact, and that was all that I needed, all that mattered. Time had passed little since the vision started, it seemed, and I wondered if the memory meant anything or if this was part of a near death experience. "I...don't break, animal..." I was able to force out. I hefted my sword, and pointed it towards the Kekamaire, keeping it as steady as possible in my state. "...but...I have a question..." My Kanohi glowed. My silhouette faded, and just before I disappeared completely, I asked: "...do you believe in ghosts?" Now invisible thanks to my mask power, I crept around the beast, who I could already surmise was more brute than brain matter, and once behind him swung my sword down in a slashing motion towards his back. I was going to use what strength I had left to finish this. @Dane

  8. IC Kilo-M9 - Coliseum, parade grounds - Onu-metru, surface: Observation: Invaders are not in present location. Travel is necessary. 6 known Barraki warlords. Likely to have 1 in each metru. Calculating best destination... Onu-metru is most familiar district. Archives tunnels result in ideal chokepoints suited for resisting larger enemy forces. Current objective: Travel to Onu-metru. Faster travel required. Searching for options... The mechanical enforcer wandered about the parade grounds of the Coliseum, avoiding the frequent Vahki patrols by hiding behind various objects. The setting suns resulted in longer shadows for the ebony automaton to take cover in, but it still stood out in this area. The machine surveyed its surroundings, looking for something in particular. Soon enough, it noticed some Vahki transports heading for the front lines. Tracking their path back to its origin point, the machine arrived at the transport maintenance building. Every for carefully, the former law enforcement snuck as well as a robot could (which was better than you might expect) into the facility, stopping at points to let patrols of its replacement officers march past. With the battles ongoing, most Vahki were out fighting or preparing to fight. That left some of the under repair transports unoccupied. It was one of those empty vehicles that the mechanical enforcer climbed into. Security in transport low. Stealing transport will draw unnecessary attention. Inefficient. Pulling up memory log of ally Tallea... Speed disk location found. Acquiring. Using its observations of Tallea’s tinkering with the Vahki transport ruins in Po-metru, the protodermis protector ripped open several access panels in the transports main engine bay before stumbling upon the tool it sought. A speed disk was in its grasp. The disk was low power, but it would do. The machine snuck out of the facility the way it came, taking a moment once back in the open air to orient its body towards Onu-metru. Taking disc in hand, the machine tapped it against its chassis. Plotting route to Onu-metru. Alignments are set. No obstacles nearby. Activating disk. Clock speeds increasing. Preparingtomovetolocation.Traveling.Jointsoverheating.Halfwaytodestination.Dodginggroundtraffic.Structuralintegrityholding.Birdsinpath.Evadingobstacles.Arrivingatdestination. The machine exited super speed shortly after arriving in Onu-metru. As it took in the sights, the leg joints on its body emitted steam as the internal cooling systems attempted to bring the temperature of its limbs back to normal. Clearly Nuparu hadn’t designed the Kralhi for speed. Around the steel sentinel, the city was burning. There were several piles of corpses, mostly matoran but with some other species present. All were charred and covered with a thick layer of ash. A large portion of the surface infrastructure was damaged on in the process of being damaged. A few matoran could be seen running for cover, with several being pursued by Mantax’s forces. One such soldier, torch in hand, was chasing after an onu-matoran frantically trying to escape. Desperation kept the civilian out of reach, but it wouldn’t last. The soldier cornered the matoran, who was left with begging for his life. “Don’t be so upset little one,” the soldier said, raising his sword. “This isn’t personal, I’m just following my directives.” As he moved to strike, a different blade burst from his chest, lifting his struggling body off the ground. “This unit is also following directives,” the machine stated from behind the soldier. Removing its blade, a second strike removed the soldier’s head before his corpse could hit the ground. The brief silence between the rescuer and rescued was interrupted by the movement of the corpse. Enemy is reanimating. Similar to dark hunter from Po-metru. Must prevent resurrection. Observation: most bodies are burned. Soldier was carrying torch, but most buildings aren’t being burned. Conclusion: burn bodies to prevent reanimation. Grabbing the fallen soldier’s torch, the machine lit his twitching body on fire. The corpse emitted a disturbing shriek before it finally stopped moving. Neither matoran nor machine spoke for a moment, wanting to be sure there would be no zombie. “…Thanks for saving me,” the matoran finally said, shaking with fear. “Citizen Onepu identified. Travel to s- Color discrepancy detected.” The orange-pakaried matoran sighed. “It’s a long story.” “Travel to safety. This unit will protect district.” As the oddly-colored matoran fled for shelter, a sudden ground tremor began. Searching for the source of the rumbling, the machine saw Arkius and Nale at the entrance to the archives. It moved to follow its allies into the archives. Allies detected. Joining up with them. Safety in numbers. More options for combat available. Current objective: Locate Barraki warlord in district. Kill warlord. “This unit will provide assistance to ally Nale and ally Arkius,” the machine stated, walking up to the pair. “Help this unit locate warlord in this metru. This unit has plan for dealing with them.”

  10. IC, Atamai: Coliseum Atamai was not prepared for the transformation that happened to him. He felt a strange energy flowing through him. He could feel his body changing, expanding. He couldn't see anything due to the blinding light, but he knew that Tallea and Knichou were also experiencing those same feelings. When the light dissipated, he saw the world in a whole new way. Literally. He was much taller than he had been previously. He was now eye level with Vashni, Stannis, and the other Toa. He felt his mask. The shape was different than it had been before. Seems like it's shaped like a normal Haonga now... well, except for my eyepiece, he thought to himself. He would find out later that his eyes had changed color to be as blue as the Toa Stone he had grabbed from the pile. Looking down, he saw two weapons on the ground in front of him: a metal baton, and a small war axe with a hammer tip on one side of the axe head. He picked them up. As he did this, the titan Zataka was speaking to Dume, but Dume didn't respond. Atamai looked and saw that the Turaga's heartlight was dim. He was dead. Atamai sighed sadly and said nothing. The others in the room began filing out. Stannis was going to leave with Vashni, Jutori, and Jabali. Atamai turned. "Wait, Stannis," he said. The old Toa turned and looked at him. Atamai walked up to him. "Stannis... thank you... for everything you've done," he said quietly. "I'd go with you but... I'm not totally convinced that Dume's plan will work. I think there's another way we can use his machine without sending someone back in time... So I'm going to stay and try to convince Knichou to try my idea. If I can't... well, I don't know what'll happen." He stood up a little straighter. "Good luck, Stannis." OOC: @EmperorWhenua

  11. IC Stannis | Office "You may come as well," Stannis said to his fellow kind, then clarified, "All are welcome to defend their homes." He meant that for the others, the still present and the just-leaving. Whether he died that day or lived to see tomorrow, he would mount a defense. He looked over at the holoscreen of Metru Nui for intelligence of where to go. It flickered slightly, likely damaged from the scuffle around it earlier, but still projected the status of the city. Most of the districts had protectors, whether vahki or matoran or more powerful heroes, as told by the ripples in formation of the Barraki armies as they encountered resistance here and there. Po- and Onu- had strong defenses going, but "Save your breath, Zataka, the turaga is meeting with his fate. I will find mine in Le-Metru."

  12. IC [Zataka, Coliseum - Dume’s Office]: So this is what it’s all been about...heh. Zataka wasn’t all that surprised to hear that manipulating time was a possibility. That in and of itself was not what was at the forefront of her mind though: The realization of what Dume was asking of his newly made Toa sunk in and immediately, the possibilities began forming in the warlord’s mind: They could go back, take the Barraki by surprise and end their reign before it ever began. She could already picture the looks on their faces when their barely nascent aspirations of lordship were cut short in an instant. Glorious! But they had to go way back to do it - a daring proposition. Centuries of history rewritten to prevent the current war, without any way to know what would happen in that time. If they sent one of the Toa back and they succeeded in the way Dume had outlined...it would not only destroy the league, but most likely the majority of the order of Mata Nui as well. She could only imagine the massive power vacuum that would leave, one that would inevitably be filled. Perhaps by the Dark Hunters, or the Visorak, or… ...me. She couldn’t help the sinister smile that played across her lips. You listed yourself after the spider horde, really? The opportunity was tempting. All the power in the universe had suddenly become a lot more attainable, at least seemingly. Zataka’s hand tightened around the handle of her sword. An injured Dume, a Nynrah ghost who knew how to fix the machine to make it happen. Now if she somehow could ensure her past self knew of what was coming...and that’s what it came down to, wasn’t it? For the plan to succeed, the time to set up the attack, there would be little to no time for anything else. No way to ensure a bright future for anyone - Matoran, Barraki, Hunters or otherwise. If she was going to pull this off, she’d need some sort of assurance. And there was none to be had. Unless she went back herself. Which then would mean outrunning a nova blast, tracking down her past self and convincing her of the plan as well. Knowing herself, how she used to be...that part alone would be hard enough. She might well create a time paradox if she and her younger self couldn’t get along and tried to kill each other. It was a million to one shot to gain all the power she could ever want, but in turn it risked everything she had already built. Wait... It was desperate. Too desperate in fact. The Barraki and others (herself included) had led bloody campaigns across the silver sea for ages. Invasions happened all the time - just not to Metru-Nui. The shining beacon of all Matoran civilization had been spared the horror thus far, thanks to her Toa protectors and clever politics. But it had known war as well - civil war. They were in dire straits, the league might well win today - but did it justify Dume’s methods? How many had died in this war so far? And now, just because the bloodshed had found its way here, the Turaga broke out the history eraser button. Not when the Mangai had fallen apart or the Dark Hunters began operating unchecked. Why now? To stop the Barraki, sure. But if he knew of the exact time of their defection, why not go back himself? But no, instead Dume had chosen this course of action. Even his worry about a mask of time did not make sense. Any weapon was dangerous in the wrong hands, but an existential threat? The Kanohi Garai existed, yet it did not destroy the fundamental force it held sway over when broken - she knew that for a fact from the last time she had done it, just before breaking the wearer as well. Zataka stood up, glancing down at the dark hunter again. :Stay put: she ordered her, before moving around the desk, slowly, deliberately. Her shadow fell over Dume as she came to a stop beside him. “You also have my thanks. I can see clearer now.” she said, looking out towards the smoke rising from this city stretching out beyond the window. There was absolutely no gratitude behind her words. “Tell me something: With this device you could go back to an even earlier time and warn the Order and bring them proof of the Barraki’s impending betrayal. I know Brutaka and his allies do not take kindly to traitors. Or you could go back to yesterday and warn all of us of the invasion, cut off their advance before it begins.” Dume could see how tense the warlord was. He noticed the subtle shaking of the armored hand clenching the hilt of her blade. “You could have done any number of things. Maybe you failed to consider alternatives - but that's not you. You think things through. No, this was your plan all along. Even though your own friends betrayed you and each other - just to keep the disks out of your hands. And then you had these unwitting Matoran bring them to you. A clever move: Find the disks and people devoted enough to do whatever you ask. And when that was done all you had to do was turn them into Toa so you could find one among their number willing enough to kill themselves based on nothing more than your word. Very clever, but also desperate. And too drastic. Even under these circumstances, it’s disproportionate. We haven’t even tried all conventional methods; my blade has yet to taste Barraki blood.” Her eyes were locked onto Dume now. “Unless this is about more than stopping the Barraki. How does your plan account for the other things at work here: The creature in the coliseum basement, the crimson in the sky, the rising dead...what do you know of them?”

  14. IC Stannis | Coliseum "I would welcome your companionship," the Wanderer said, gladdened by the offer to join along. Perhaps, he hoped, things could still be preserved, with Dume's new toa team rising to meet their fates and save the city just as the Toa Mangai would. Mata Nui worked in mysterious ways, and even with Dume's betrayal of the natural order things would go as they always should. He gave a caution, however. "But be aware, I do not cling to my life in the battle ahead." IC Leklo | Airship The newly-minted toa of plasma had said little since leaving Turaga Dume's office, lost in thought. He wondered about a great many things as he followed after Sans and the others, concerned about his Destiny and the fragility of fate, about Dume and Stannis and Zataka, and still feeling frightened by the ghostly faces he saw surrounding those warriors. That purple mask, though... whoever wore it in life seemed to have a message to share in the afterlife, it seemed. He remained quiet even as Sans took them all aboard an airship and they went out to try and save Ko-Metru. Another toa clawed her throat and spoke. "Hi. We haven't met yet. I'm Taja." "Hello Taja. I'm Leklo, the Alpinist—or, I used to be the Alpinist," he said to introduce himself. He now wondered who would scale the slopes of the knowledge towers and fix them with abandon. Perhaps he should go climbing when this was all over and see how good he was as a toa.

  15. I would like to see Lego introduce a theme I'd like to call "Throwback", which would take concepts and styles from older themes and have them built with more recent parts and building techniques. A good example of how that would work is something like how Benny's Spaceship from the Lego Movie theme was clearly meant to resemble the Classic Space sets, but is obviously a much more sophisticated build thanks to the wider range of available parts in recent years. Just try to imagine some of your favorite sets from the 80s and 90s, and put a modern twist on them. This would allow today's kids to have a chance to have sets that are similar to what their parents might have gotten back when they were kids.

  16. Well what are some strange things you've done with your bionicles that you regret? For me it would be the time that I in my infinite 10 year old wisdom decided to set up outside stars rahkshi and a half complete Mahri Matoro as archery targets (I was going through an archery phase at the time). One arrow hit stars rahkshi in the chest and failed to penetrate, though to this date there is a huge dent on his chest; the other one hit Matoro in the hip separating the ball joint from the rest of the piece. Luckily my dad told me it was probably best if I stopped shooting my bionicles and he probably saved my collection from further damage.

She looked upon the warlord with contempt as he tried in vain to touch her. "Mata Nui hates you. And so do I." @Unreliable Narrator@Snelly IC: Nale Vella - Archives She glared at Thom. "First rule of helping us: don't call me 'sweetheart.'" @Dane@Onaku IC: The Swordsman - Ta-Metru "Always trying...to get the last word..." My mask's power deactivated, revealing my damaged form. A splash of acid blood hit my armor. I pulled my sword away (with some difficulty) and clawed at it in a panic, ripping off the affected area before it could eat through. My injuries, the pain, and the shock of it all took its toll and I fell to the ground incapacitated, a broken man. Pieces of dark red metal littered the ground around me, my obsidian sword had left my clutches and now lay inches from my fingers, and nearby my tattered cloak was blown away in the wind. If I had won this duel, it did not feel like it. I closed my eyes and dreamed. ... @Dane

  19. IC: Skyra - Po-Metru - Nice, Leonn came through afterall. Skyra was glad she'd convinced Rose to spare him, this was working out pretty well. Nevermind that he was apparently really close to another warlord, that was a detail they'd deal with later. Skyra was content to just keep shooting. 20. IC: Sidra - Coliseum (Dume's Office) For karz's sake... with Vashni gone, the telekinetic force pinning Sidra to the floor gradually abated, and she slowly sat up, though for now she made no effort to flee or attack. She holstered her launcher and remained behind the desk. Every time. Every karzing time... She'd failed, again. Sure, Dume was dead, but she could barely take credit for it. First Othorak, now Dume. She'd confronted her targets, wounded them, only for them to die by other means, and still accomplish their goals in doing so. She hadn't stopped Othorak from crashing the airship into Ta-Metru, and now she hadn't stopped Dume from creating more Toa to pursue his insane quest to tear time apart. She tried to be clever, tried to be careful, and every time she was too slow. She sighed, and sat down behind the desk, struggling to get comfortable in the too-small chair as she typed a quick message into her iStone, addressed to the rest of the Dark Hunter network: Dume is dead.

  21. Name: Atamai (a-TOM-eye) Species: Toa of Iron Faction: Metru-Nui Description: A male Toa of Iron, Atamai is of average height and build. His armor color has changed to be more in line with other Toa of the same element, metallic silver with burnt orange as a secondary color. His eyes have changed color, too, from their original orange to a quartz blue, like the Toa stone that he obtained his power from. His Mask of Conjuring has changed shape to be that of a normal Mask of Conjuring; however, it retains the telescoping eyepiece it had when Atamai was a Matoran. Background: Formerly an Archivist, Atamai now finds himself a Toa. After his experiences searching for the Great Disks, Atamai has realized that there’s a higher calling for him. He now focuses on protecting Metru Nui and it’s citizens. Personality: Atamai often has a matter-of-fact attitude and a dry sense of humor. However, he means well, and those around him eventually get used to his demeanor. He rarely holds grudges, but when he does, he will hold onto them for a quite a while. Even so, Atamai is not 100% confident in his abilities as a Toa, and so deep down he has some insecurities. Powers: As a Toa of Iron, Atamai is able to create, absorb, and manipulate metallic protodermis. He wears the Kanohi Haonga, the Mask of Conjuring, which allows him to program a power into it for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes are up, Atamai must wait 30 seconds before reprogramming it. The powers must be programmed by Atamai verbally by beginning with “Mata Nui...” and ending with “...Amen.” He must also state a weakness to the power, lest he suffer psychic backlash. Equipment: Atamai’s Toa tools are a metal baton that can expand into a full staff, and a war axe that has a short handle. The axe head has an axe side and a hammer side (like Thor’s Stormbreaker in the Marvel movies) He also still has his satchel holding useful items such as an iStone tablet and a lightstone, among other things. Flaws: Atamai is afraid of water, and this cannot swim. As stated above, he holds onto grudges for a long time, and will generally not cooperate well with those he dislikes.

  22. IC: Jabali & Zecrillia - Dume's Office TOO MUCH TOO MUCH TOO MUCH. She should have left with Turaga Sans. Jabali could tell now that the aged jokester had had the right idea; even if she could probably not do much more than bash a couple of the invaders around the head with her staff before being smeared on the ground herself, it would be better than having to know all of this. Time powers, Toa killing other Toa, Dume getting thoroughly told off by Toa Stannis and the titan whose name Jabali wasn't sure she knew. It was all so, so, so... She didn't even know. Aside from it all seeming futile - didn't time travel always lead, at least according to rumour, to only causing the very thing you set out to prevent? Not that she was going to stick her neck out by asserting as much in the middle of the already high-running tempers in the room - it was as if the world was going crazy; and in fact, with the Barraki marching on Metru Nui, that might well have been the case. But she certainly didn't want to be in the middle of it all. So, when Stannis made to leave, Jabali quickly decided that was her cue, too. Giving a nod of respect in Dume's direction - one that she wasn't sure anyone noticed, but certainly wasn't going to do anything that would draw more attention to her - she made her hasty escape. "Toa- Toa Stannis?" She quietly hastened to catch up with the legendary hero. "I want to come with you, too. I know I'm just a Matoran, but... that's all way too much for me. I want to help protect my home. That's all." What, was she expecting him to actually say yes? Zecrillia, meanwhile, shrugged with a feigned negligence. While she, too, was somewhat discomforted by the idea of changing the past - would that render all her work, her weapons designs, her quest for the Great Disk, moot in the end? She wasn't sure she much liked the idea of that - it would be a fitting punishment for the Barraki, to wipe out the empires they were so proud of before they could form. And if it meant they would be stamped out before they could murder her brother, who had only wanted to join their army and had apparently paid the price for it... "As long as you keep paying, I'll keep working; you can count on that." IC: Varxii - Ko-Metru Well. The stranger certainly knew what he was doing; two of Pridak's soldiers were out like lights in moments and Varxii, a fighter by nature herself, couldn't help but be impressed. There were definitely worse things she could do than team up with him... he had power, and so did she. If they found a good choke point to ambush Pridak's forces, the arrogant Barraki lord would never know what hit him. She took a step forward, meaning to make her presence known to him-- Saw him step through a void and disappear from her sight. So much for that idea. Being too far around the nearest corner for to see Pridak - all the better to not be seen by him either - Varxii was unable to see the stranger rematerialise right beside the Barraki. As far as she knew, he was now away who-knew-where... so it was up to her, alone again, to find out a way to thwart Pridak's army. If she'd looked up and away into the distance, she might have seen, of all unexpected things, an approaching airship bearing reinforcements in the form of three newbie Toa and one unexpectedly bold Turaga. As it was, Varxii's attention was far too fixed upon the situation at her point on the ground to pay the skies any thought. Still, if any of those approaching were on the lookout for potential allies, it was safe to say that they'd find one in her. If she was anything more than a tiny dark-blue speck from their perspective, that was.

  23. IC: Dume | Coliseum, Office "You are a fool," Dume whispered to himself before Zataka approached. If he spoke of himself or Stannis none could determine. As the elderly toa stepped aside in disgust, realizing Dume befouled his dogma, the Turaga gave a brave, thin lipped smile at Knichou, Atamai, and Tallea. They each held a stone, respectively: muaka's eye orange, quartz blue, and a shoreside ocean teal. He reached his hand forward, beckoning Tallea and Atami and Knichou close to him, and they held out their hands with the stones in them. "You are brave. Braver than all of us. And more willing to discover the truths of this world. I leave you in the company of new sisters and brothers. May you find more wisdom in your unity than an old fool like myself alone in his tower." Dume grunted, coughed, and then let out a slow and solemn rumbling cry from deep in his soul. The three matoran pressed near him felt a creeping in their skin as the reverberation of his powers passed from one ancient and fallen warrior to three new heroes. Cocoons of golden light tinged by the colors of the stones covered the matoran, spinning like silk threads as they grew inside. The energies disappeared, flowing into the heartlights of three new toa who reeled back in the shock of their change. Having seen matoran become toa several times before their eyes opened their mind to what would happen, but experiencing the alterations could never be expected. Zataka approached Dume and began to chide him, to prod him for questions, to demand answers. Then she realized it was in vain. His spark was gone. The leader of the matoran people had given his broken heart to the desperate plan of changing everything before it began.

  24. IC: Thom - Onu-Metru (Archives) He shrugged, the skinny Ko-Skakdi's ever-present grin still holding on Thom's face. "Was 'ere to settle a score." Thom nodded to Nale. "She knows. But seems like ya in a spot of trouble. Only right ah should help ya, you know." He twirled his revolver in his hand, but another weapon was sitting in the opposite holster, perhaps leading to the Toa wonder what was in there. "Anyway, ya pushin' yaself. Can hear ya raggerty breathin' from across tha archives!" Thom insisted. OOC: @Tarn @Onaku @pokemonlover360

  25. IC Kilo-M9 - Archives: New objective: assist allies in combat while preventing zombies. The machine followed its ally’s orders, dutifully igniting the new corpses. Stepping around the corner, the machine took care of the vortixx’s body, not even bothering to look up before bubbling the two fallen league soldiers. The machine observed Arkius’s struggle against the steltian. “Should this unit provide assistance to ally Arkius?” the machine asked Nale.

  27. IC Stannis | Coliseum office "You may not." The Wanderer's reply came to the surprise of all still present and cut deep in their minds. Up until that moment Stannis had seemed a valiant, if reluctant, ally going so far as to mend Dume's body and seal in what life he could, all in an effort to save the leader of the cradle of Matoran civilization. And likewise, Stannis considered Dume key to the preservation of Mata Nui's folk, but the Turaga's word on his alleged plan changed that perspective. Stannis loosed his healing hands from Dume and moved away from the pleading elder. He looked the same as he always had to the rest, but Dume recognized the subtle expression on his face: Disgust. "You would play with Destiny to make a more perfect world," Stannis said; it sounded like an accusation framed with sadness. He shook his head, crushed with the realization that Turaga Dume was not the paragon he hoped he still was. "You, who have lived a life full of regrets and shortcomings, would act as a god yourself. Old friend... you are wrong and your own aspirations prove your folly. Destiny and fate move forward, never backward, and even when the patterns repeat themselves it is for us to learn from our past to become better. You would end this war before it ever was an idea. You would steal the rightful Destiny of heroes, toa and matoran alike, to save each other. You would ruin the natural, the true, order of Mata Nui. "Thank you—for telling me your plan—for inviting me to partake—but I will not lend my power to your scheme. I serve Mata Nui the one true god, and His plan does not include you anymore." Stannis got up then slowly, from either old age or sorrow or both, and turned away. "I will apply my powers where they are needed and fight in the battles outside. I will not stop you but I pray you do not succeed." He gave one more glance at Knichou even as the former Ghost took the next steps in his own destiny and nodded to him. "May the Great Spirit bless you, friend."

  28. There are three big stumbling blocks I see here. The first is that Lego would never make a movie without having a corresponding toyline, and they've given up on constraction. Second, it would be hard for Lego to convince any studio to make an all-CGI blockbuster film out of an IP which failed pretty definitively the last time it was rebooted. Third, the Great Spirit Robot was foundational to the first eight years of Bionicle, and that twist has already been revealed. I think that to keep the feeling of Bionicle, you'd need a different big secret that underlies all of the mysterious goings-on. IMO, that's a tall order, but there's a reason I'm not a writer. But, for the sake of argument, let's set those aside. Again, the foundation of Bionicle, to me, is its atmosphere of mystery. When it comes to Hollywood writers who are good at setting that kind of atmosphere, the big three that come to mind are J. J. Abrams and the Nolan brothers. That's not to say that I like much of their work, or that I necessarily trust them to pay off on mysteries in a satisfying way. All the same, I think they could do a decent job with the first installment in a series, so long as the reins were quickly handed off to someone else. (Preferably someone who actually carried those mysteries forwards instead of actively shunning them.) I don't have a dream cast in mind, because good actors are frequently not good voice actors, and I don't watch enough cartoons to know any big name VAs. When it comes to the soundtrack, I think any kind of pop music would be distracting and take away from the atmosphere. I also wouldn't want something that sounded John Williams-y, so (with all respect) Nathan Furst would be out. Idk, maybe Hans Zimmer would be a good fit? But to be honest, any future reinterpretation of Bionicle would probably disappoint me, because it wouldn't be enough like the idealized Perfect Bionicle that lives in my mind. More than any kind of reboot, I would like to see new creative projects done by people who were into Bionicle as kids, taking inspiration from the story but doing something radically different. Just my two cents.

  29. IC: Knichou, Dume's office Knichou hesitated at Dume's offer. He was never in this for a reward, and in fact at the beginning of this journey held Toa in less high regard that he did now. Knichou was always one who believed that matoran could, should, and would be self-sufficient, capable of designing weapons and technology to protect them from the species with more physical and magical prowess than they had. Knichou had mastered many crafts with his matoran hands and had worked on projects Toa could only dream of accomplishing. His experiences as a Nynrah Ghost taught him self reliance and the industriousness required to survive alone in an unforgiving world, yet the past few days had taught him more than he ever was prepared to learn about the benefits of the teams Toa tended to form. Knichou wished he had more time to think about the decision (Ironic) but what won him over was the assessment of the current situation. This was the end times. In fact, for all they knew this was going to be the end of time itself. The next hours would decide the fate of everyone living and dead, and if Dume's plan was executed and the timeline was changed, depending on different theories of time travel Knichou would be a matoran again and forget any of this ever happened. So would it hurt to give it a try? To make these last few hours a bit more interesting, and give him a fighting chance in case the world really went to karz? In fact, this would let Knichou wield the power of time himself as Atamai assumed he wanted to. Then Knichou could complete the mission himself, no matter what else happened. After a noticeably long deliberation, Knichou grabbed a Toa stone. "Well, at the very least I'll get to see how well my equipment reacts to this..."

Tbh I can't see them being part of the same project; otherwise, why wouldn't have tagged all the 3IO posts with #Rebel2020 from the start?

  33. When LEGO did the last Space Police line the 5974 Galactic Enforcer in particular seemed very reminiscent of the Explorien's largest set, 6982 Explorien Starship. I've seen other sets where they've referenced older designs, but that one in particular seemed like a modern remake of one of my white whales.

  34. I hadn't thought of building the 2015 Toa. That's a pretty good idea! I'll get around to building them eventually, the way I've been designing. I've tweaked Pohatu's mask a bit; hopefully he looks more like himself. The trans-orange on Tahu's model is supposed to represent lava, while the blue for Gali is water. I'm really glad to see you appreciate them. The "black" on Gali's Kaukau is a side-effect of using trans-blue bricks on top of other trans-blue bricks. I've revised her model to use trans-fluorescent light blue instead. The Toa Canisters were a last-minute addition with my build. I felt that a full-scale canister was overdoing it, so I settled for a mini-build. Currently I'm working on not only revising the Toa Mata, but finishing up the six Turaga and the 2001 Tohunga as well. Hopefully I'll have the final models done over the weekend and posted here next week. As always, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!
