  1. Yay! “The Great Wave off Ga-Metru” https://flic.kr/p/2oBoE5r Made in Pixlr E, using transparent layers, pen + paint tool and shape tool over a pasted together mess of Hahli Mahri’s delimbed hovering torso, Ga-Metru’s symbol: https://biosector01.com/wiki/File:Symbol_Ga-Metru.png …and….well…initially a generic wave swirl…that got happy-accidentally replaced with a vector of The Great Wave off Kanagawa …thanks to bumping into this Pixabay image and chasing it like a butterfly: https://pixabay.com/illustrations/great-wave-kanagawa-sea-6321898/ Also, not clear on why it resembles a Caduceus. ~27 Hrs total -the internet and brain undeniably lagged after layer #484. My color ideas: Shirt base & printing similar to any paint colors in the original painting: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/Tsunami_by_hokusai_19th_century.jpg White HEX #FFFFFF , Black HEX #000000 Big PXZ file saved if needed. Sorry if the Bionicle bits are inaccurate, dark reference photos & no physical set for reference. Or it there is some gigantic error in this I’ve neglected to detect… Thanks so very much for hosting these!!!

  2. Hey, I guess I stumbled on this at the right day. Right now, I'm going through with my cat a lot of the same things you mentioned going through with your dog and I'm worried I might be about to lose her for good. Come to think of it, I got her right around the time I joined BZPower too. We're just voices on a silly old forum, and your status as the person who comes back and posts a blog entry every so often has long eclipsed anything I might have known you for when you were actually active in my mind, but for just a moment I was able to feel like there was someone else out there who understood me. I'd give you a hug if I could. Give yourself as many days to cry as you need. It might take longer to get over than you expect or feel is expected of you. That's okay. You may feel good for several days and then suddenly find yourself a wreck again. That's okay too. And I hope grad school is as good for you as it was for me.

  3. Give yourself time to mourn your dog. When it's time for grad school, the feelings will be easier to manage.

  7. Funnily enough, I think I might've had the two penguins on the left as a kid, or at least ones that looked very similar. Nice collection!

  8. Aww, look at that sweet lil smile - what a handsome pup. Now, I don't consider myself a coffee aficionado - perhaps a begrudging semi-dependent. My palate isn't sharp enough to really get into deep and/or subtle flavors and variations. A few factoids I've gleaned over the years that I've found interesting: 1. Light roast has more caffeine than dark roasts. 2. You might enjoy different brewing methods, depending on how much you want to get into the process. Some of my friends really enjoy pour-over coffee, AeroPress, french press, among other methods. I do have a few who like to buy and roast and grind their own coffee beans, and one who has some coffee plant seedlings that she's growing. It can be a very involved hobby! 3. If you eventually find yourself nauseous after drinking coffee, there are low-acidic versions on the market, and I found that helped me. 4. Instant coffee is fun to use as watercolor for art, and useful in a pinch for all-nighters, but beyond that, consume at your own risk. 5. Adding cardamom apparently reduces or negates the caffeine's effect if you want some coffee before bed. 6. Adding a dash of salt negates the bitterness - I've tried this one. It's ...weird? Maybe I added too much salt 😂 Have fun on this new venture!

  9. That's neat, Pohatu Mata was one of my very first sets as well! He was the first Toa I got, I was compelled to pick one up shortly after getting Mctoran Matoro in a happy meal Thanks for sharing the memory --Akaku: Master of Flight

  10. 1) I'm pretty sure it was Pohatu Mata. Part of me thinks it might have been Turaga Matau (still on my desk right now), but that could have been after. Either way, all I remember about Pohatu is it was Christmas 2001 and I didn't push the pins into his hands all the way so they fell out when I started playing with him. And that is how I learned about friction. 2) 23.6 kios.

  11. Hmmm... What was your first Bionicle set? Do you remember the day you got it? Oh, here's a good one: what is the Airspeed velocity of an unladen Gukko? --Akaku: Master of Flight

  14. Wow, it's so beautiful! My first honeydew is finally on its way - this is a nice size to aspire to. After the gopher mishap of last year, I'd be happy with anything, though!

  22. Thanks. Your comment got me wondering why my lego and stuffed animal hobbies never clashed as a kid and I'm guessing it's because back then I mostly got animals from yard/garage sales (and still found some good stuff). I'm pretty sure I've only found Bionicle sets/pieces at exactly one sale I went to.

  23. Hooray for blogs from Bambiland! Welcome back!!! Oh snaps, what a majestic companion! Congratulations! If it were me I’d give him a traditional German name given his ancestry (probably biased due to my own though, haha). Oh! I meant to say on your last suggestion blog: tis epic that you’re able to play an instrument, and if I had such fine skills I’d blog about it l. I know nothing of music notes, etc and am amazed by those who can wield such magic! Happy (belated) Palentines day!!!

  24. Sure, I mean it's not like I'm drowning in questions here or something. 😝 A dog. I think it fits because my mind immediately started thinking of what job I'd have. Guard dog, support dog, maybe even one of those St. Bernards with a barrel of brandy. Publishing my first book in a few months. I know that's not super impressive for a lot of reasons (including the fact it's just an e-book), but the number of people who say they are going to write a book is a lot larger than the people who actually publish one so yeah I am excited for it. Being...kind (pretty sure that's the right word). Seeing my half-sister for the first time in a few years. Plesiosaurs. Mosasaurus are bad too, but there's just something not right about them that creeps me out.

  31. Uh oh 😜 It is a lot of stuff. All your creations look so good! You must really love your baby Yodas a lot. They seem like they're having so much fun with the things you make for them. The totoro outfit in particular is super cute! And the hot air balloon! I love decorations with a hot air balloon shape. I think the little pumpkins/eggplant are another of my favorites of the batch despite their simplicity. They look cuddly. Holiday hummingbirds are cute and suitably festive. Hope the cards go/went over well. (Depending on if they're for this year or last year.) I'm sure everyone enjoyed your gifts! I know I did. 🥹 I'm guessing they just picked a price point and tried to stick with it, which necessitated dropping certain details. As for the medical stuff...a lot of it goes over my head, but I'm really sorry you're having to live like this. 🫂 I wish you were able to enjoy all the yummy kitchen creations you've made to their fullest extent. And the idea of your own father intentionally ignoring your allergies to mess with you is particularly horrible. He's in the wrong there. Again, I don't know a lot about medical stuff, but I hope having a more accurate idea of what's going on makes things at least a little better for you going forward.

  32. Thanks! It was a big move, and I'm very proud of myself for getting it, even if I'm not necessarily "using" it for my job at the moment. (Although a lot of stuff I'm doing at work was only covered in the masters level courses.)
