Hey guys, sorry I've been inactive recently, it's taking a while to settle into the new forum Anyway, the question I pose to you is: which HF set(s) would you recommend from the 4.0 wave? I kinda like Splitface, but what sets would you recommend 1) in terms of parts, and 2) in terms of set design? Budget is under $20 AU per set at the mo, so unless you have magical persuasion powers I probs won't get Black Phantom. On another note, I've been participating in the 2012 MOCathalon over on MOCpages (so far only managed to build one MOC >.<) and I'd love some ideas on what I could possibly build for the following categories: Darwin Awards Show someone unintentionally killing themselves in the most ironic way possible. The crazier the better but it must be grounded in reality, to a point. Houston, We Have a Problem These famous words must be illustrated through your creation. Not too many rules on this one, just make sure you can tie it in with the phrase. Ghost Hunters Build a MOC based on ghost hunting. This can be something like the ghost-hunters show, or Ghost Adventures. The focus must be on ghosts, no vampires, werewolves etc. Please, give me your opinions on stuff mentioned above. -FtC

Thankyou Well, I did at first give it multiple tools (in fact I even considered giving it way more arms to hold different tools) but in the end the simplicity won me over. Besides, it's not meant to be a real 'surgeon', just that the name implies that it's probably good at cutting people open. Thankyou sir! To be honest this is one of the rare times where I'll use just a simple black and silver colour scheme, so I'm glad it worked out. Cheers! I'm not sure that the shoulder idea would work, as I feel that having thin arms and shoulders is a nice contrast to the rather bulky body shape. Howdy folks. You've probably heard about the 2012 MOCathalon over at MOCpages? Yeah, well this is something I built for the category 'Will it Blend?'The idea was to fuse two different Lego themes together. Instantly I thought I should use Bionicle in some way then BAM! It hit me: Gukko Birds have 4 wings, as do X-Wing Fighters from Star Wars... I'ma make a Gukko X-Wing! ^Click for gallery^ In the end I just went with the basic shape of an X-Wing and used bits and pieces of what makes a Gukko Bird unique (colours, beak, katanas etc.). I'm aware that it's missing a few details on the X-Wing side of it, but I'm still pleased with the result. NOTE: The wings are meant to be simple. I tried detailed/complex designs and it actually looked terrible, so the simplistic approach was really the only way here. C&C muchly appreciated <3-FtC

That's actually awesome! Well done sir.Great job on the shaping and the pose: the upwards slant really suits the insectoid nature of it. Also, the Rahkshi head was an excellent choice for a head. The small holes look a lot like eyes.Cool MOC, definitely caught my attention -FtC

Welcome to the surgery. Terribly sorry for being inactive lately, I was kinda, y'know, in Nepal and stuff. But hey, here's something new and shiny to look at! It's surprisingly poseable for only using 3 ball-joints, but is barely stable and keeps falling flat on its face. It's a tough life. Also, note on its right arm: I couldn't find another black (OO) piece, so WHOOPDEEDOO, there's a blue pin there. Deal with it. C&C appreciated, folks. -FtC

If you look slightly above them, there are two white studs, horizontal so they look like eye-slits. If you are refering to that. I think it does need a little more bulk, but otherwise it is fine. 9.5/10Yeah, that area does need some work. But thanks Thankye! I'm genuinely impressed! While I do love Lightning, Purple Flame just looks so dang good. I like the way you splayed the Skrall armour to make a sort of skirt at the end of it, really looks good. Some more flamework would be much to this MOC's advantage, though. It's huge appearance with the tiny flames at the moment is just too disproportionate, IMO. Dunno what you could do about that, though Seriously, neat stuff.-FtC

Thanks a bunch, Bill Yep, just check Johann's comment further down for an explanation of GLaDOS.The system plate is supposed to be made of Portal-wall material, which is quite symbolic of the game itself. I do get where you're coming from, though - it is a bit out of place. Cheers PooZy (I still can't take you seriously with that name...) Yus, that's one reason why I named it GLaDYS instead of GLaDOS - because it's not perfect. GLaDOS is a central computer system thing, like a HAL 9000 with a body... Totally agree with you there. I absolutely love some of their older stuff like Sleeping Sun, Don't Panic and (yay) Amsterdam, but this new stuff is really meh. As soon as I heard Every Teardrop is a Waterfall I knew I wouldn't like the album, and Princess of China and Paradise just confirmed that. Gotta say though, Major Minus is pretty alright. -FtC

This is great, Ret. Love the subtle use of keetorange/yellow. Possibly one of your best, although it's kinda hard to choose a favourite May I ask, how did you do that stringy muscular structure on the lower legs? I've been looking at it for a while trying to figure out what the pieces are, but I can't figure it out. -FtC

The rest just kinda randomly built around that, until it ended up looking a bit like GLaDOS. Also, it's my first big MOC in a while C&C greatly appreciated, people.
