My primary reason for thinking that Marth maybe isn't as absolutely terrible as a lot of people seem to think is that I believe there hasn't been enough time since the game's release for people to adjust to his alterations. The incident I mentioned was merely a bit of practical evidence to support this conclusion - one meant to be taken, as implied by the qualifier that immediately followed it, with a grain of salt. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear - and I've edited the post in an attempt to make it more so - but I do put thought into my posts, and if I write something, I generally mean it. Also @Phoenix: Perhaps my statement about Sakurai not caring about Donkey Kong was a bit of an exaggeration, but its representation is nonetheless minimal in comparison to other series, many of them less significant. DK is, according to Wikipedia, Nintendo's fourth-highest-selling mainstream franchise (following Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda, in that order, and excluding Mario Kart and the "Wii" line of games), and has met with tremendous critical acclaim throughout the past 33 years of its existence. And yet in Smash 4 it has only two playable characters, four stages (spread out across two versions), two Smash Run enemies, two (2) items, and no (0) assist trophies. I don't feel like taking the time to list off the numbers for each of those aspects of representation for the other series present in Smash (nor do I imagine anyone would take the time to read through them all), but it's safe to say we're talking very low on the list for DK.
