Originating with the Akan people of West Africa, the character of Anansi has since spread to African American
and Caribbean folklore. He's known for his use of cunning to outwit powerful oppressors.

This build is based on this short film's depiction of the trickster.

Xph˚lgíœk, a trilaterian from Altair V, and Cyrus Pell, a hominid from Sol III, have teamed up to investigate the disappearance of the colony on Gamma Leonis II.

This dynamic duo was built for the 2020 BioCup and CZQ's #CZQcharacters contest. Both were designed with a pulp sci-fi novel aesthetic in mind. Cyrus took cues from this artwork, and Xph˚lgíœk was inspired by povorot's Amphorans on DeviantArt.

  3. Staff name changes. The first I can recall was "phobias," when everyone became a fear. I think Sumiki was "Phobophobia" with FDR as his prof pic. I was so psyched when I finally got to participate and made my first and only name change to "Mister Spock."

Oh and the day BZP came back online. I'd just come back from school dead tired and suddenly there existed a bright, shiny new forum in which to frolic.

  4. Oh hey! I'm glad this topic exists!

Fan art question: Has anybody seen any fan art that's done in the same simple style as the animation? I keep running across really cool Gem OCs, but they're always detail cluttered and thus can't fit into my headcanon (if that makes any sense).

  5. That Hewkii is so much better than what we got. And all it took was the mask. Kongu's mask is also pretty weird (from what I can tell it looks like a Great Ruru with mandibles), but it's kinda growing on me (also probably better than what we got).

But those colors hurt my eyes. A LOT.

  6. I probably would've stuck with BS01 (or whatever the main BIONICLE reference wiki would have been in its place) for longer than I did, because once I joined BZP I got more interested in the discussion and less interested in the chronicling. Dunno if I'd still be there at this point though.

This is eerily the exact same position I'd be in.
  7. I've always thought gold pieces in general were gaudy. I like pearl gold due to its abundance and the warmth of the color, but coupled with pretty much any other color it just seems out of place and unnatural. Silvers and gunmetal make much more sense to me in color schemes and as armor, but I still prefer non-metallic colors in pretty much all my building. As such, regular-colored masks win out. By a mile.

  8. I wonder... would it be possible to tie chatroom participation to membership on the main forum? I've been thinking about it, and that might be the best way for moderation to work. Mods might not be able to survey the chatroom 24/7, but if only established users (with some minimal post count to prove they're authentic) could participate in the chatroom, and misbehavior in the chatroom could result in penalties like proto drops and suspensions on the main forum, that might help to keep rule-breaking to a minimum.

Thing is, this would be retroactive, which wouldn't be too great if a chatroom moves fast and we're trying to keep it PG. Keeping it to members above a certain proto level might help weed out some troublemakers, but even that wouldn't completely address the problem. Honestly I think the next best thing would be weekly BZP skype chats.

  9. Making arms and legs is a pain. I'm currently having issues with a Makuta, but it's an issue for me in general as well. I've never been able to come up with something that really looks good. I think the main issue is a lack of socket pieces that have something other than a hand setup-thing attached. Just give me a socket with a 1-length axle attached and I'll be happy. Or an axle socket.

As far as finding pieces and "getting stuff to stick," I've never really had many problems that were excessively "hard." I just kinda stare at whatever I'm working on for a while and then move on for a bit. More often than not I end up finding a connection while doodling with side projects.

So yeah…nothing specific, just occasional bouts of builder's block. If I had to choose one especially hard project it'd be a Toa of Plantlife. It just didn't work. Mainly because of the arms and legs. Ugh.

  10. There are veritable multitude of things I want to fix about the MU.

    • Matoran/Toa/Turaga of Magnetism, Psionics, and possibly Gravity and Plasma – ALL GONE. Too much overlap for Magnetism and Plasma (with Iron and Fire respectively), and Psionics and Gravity are just confusing as elements.

    • One of the non-eliminated elements is female – haven't decided which yet though. Tribes could also be one of a number of genders.

    • In my attempt to fix all the problems with the existence of this page, everyone is either Steltian (ruler or laborer), Vortixx, Tobduk's species (possibly a third class of Steltian), Keetongu's species (just Keetongu really), Skakdi, Zyglak, Matoran/Toa/Turaga, Ehlek's species, or some mutation of these listed here. (This excludes beings such as Artakha, Karzahni, etc.)

    • Visorak have only one Rhotuka power.

    • Disk surfing doesn't exist.

    • No kaita.

That's all I can recall at this moment.

    E: more added

  11. • The thingy that used to (or maybe still does) come with LEGO keys attached (you would break off the keys and were left with a T-thingy).

    • Dino Attack T-rex legs.

    • Rahkshi spines (unless they're being used in a Rahkshi).

    • Body of early 2008 Makuta. (Not the ribs. The ribs are great.)

  12. Between the Metalbeards and Laser Sharks, this contest has a lot of toothed fish in it. That Jawblade helmet is getting put to good use!

This is quite the impressive shark; the flow is maintained quite nicely, especially with the armor piece on the back. This seems especially impressive due to its small size, and I also like the mouth design with the foot piece. Nice job!

    :music:

    That mouth... AMAZING!

That aside, a really simple yet solid build!  Well done!

Thanks! Glad you all like it (especially considering that it was thrown together much too quickly). And yes, the build is incredibly simple (less than 50 pieces).
