  1. Uh... radioactivity kills. This ain't Gilligan's Island. Well yes radioactivity kills, but doesn't irradiation of organisms generally result in mutations?
  2. As far as the mutation goes, whatever energy the mask puts out ("life", if you will) might be highly radioactive. This would definitely cause growth in people who come into contact with it, but not necessarily in and form or pattern. I know that radiation doesn't automatically mutate organisms in the real world, but this might be explained by the properties of protodermis and how it reacts to radioactivity.
  3. Sorry, I really have no experience with agglutinative languages at all. However, if Bionicle somehow became viking-based, I'd be set
  4. Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean that they looked like Mayan script as much as they look like Mayan Motifs. Kind of like the individual parts of some of the logograms, albeit less curved, but it definitely gives me a Mayan impression at least. As for the grammar, Mayan languages are agglutinative and polysynthetic, in which independent words like nouns are built upon with smaller parts which have independent meaning, but do not function as words on their own. This makes long words with very specific meanings due to the number of "modifiers" placed on a single noun. It also has a Verb-Object-Subject sentence structure. For a simple example, lets say the word Oko in means island, and -to means big/great. -to cannot stand by itself, but when added to Oko, it changes the meaning slightly. Oko + -to = Okoto (Great Island) To take it a step further, we could say that: Ki = I Tsuya = to travel -k = 1st person past tense marker -tok = intensifier -wa = definite article (the) Tsuyaktok ki Okotowa = I travelled the great island long ago (lit. travel.PAST.long I island.great.DEF) I realize this probably doesn't sound very Mayan, but this is basically how the grammar would work.
  5. Yeah, I've made up a few languages myself (half-languages, really. I get the phonology and usually can't finish off the grammar) What kind of feel do we want for this new Okotan language? The Matoran language, as we all know, was based mainly on Maori and other Polynesian languages, giving it a very island-y sound. I fear that if we go in this direction again, the new language will end up being too similar to Matoran, but that if we choose a different inspiration, it won't fit with the Gen2 island theme. I would suggest a sort of Mayan language, since the symbols in the videos look mayan-inspired.
  6. I don't know, I liked having different Toa teams, especially when they were new Toa who had previously been matoran that we knew (a la Toa Inika/Mahri). I felt that it expanded the story in a nice way. But yeah, it probably was a mistake for TLG not to carry the main characters farther than two years of official sets.
  7. Maybe protodermis is an element, but can easily change it's protons, electrons, etc. and therefore its electronegativity, intermolecular forces, etc. with ease, allowing it to take on almost any form. A bit of a leap, but it could work. Well all elements can change states. Protodermis, like all other elements, has a solid state, a liquid state, and presumably a gas state. However, while atoms regularly gain and lose electrons, protons cannot be lost or gained without changing the element to a completely different one. (Hydrogen has only one proton, if it were to somehow gain a proton, it would become Helium). The fact that it can be shaped into any form is not really a problem, since liquid protodermis is just poured into molds and solidifies to that shape (i.e maskmaking) As for electronegativity, protodermis would simply have to be an element that has a charge in its most stable ion/isotope, either positive or negative. This can be changed simply by gaining or losing electrons, which, as I stated before, is a natural and common process.
  8. So basically he would just phase in and out of existence, with maybe a bright flash accompanying it? Since he travels so fast, you would not see a beam of light moving around, but rather a burst of light and then boom, Umbra is suddenly in a different spot.
  9. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I do know that, like you said, time moves slower around objects with a greater gravity. That being said, might the opposite be true? That objects with less gravity move through time faster? If that is the case, then the Vahi may actually be able to increase or decrease gravity, therefore making those under its effect perceive time as faster or slower (eventually until time stops or they reach the speed of light, at which point time is so fast it also stops, basically) The only problem with this theory is that people would begin to float away under the effects of the Vahi, which we never see.
  10. I hope they don't take away the diversity in masks that was present in Gen1. Collecting different Kanohi was one of my favorite aspects of Bionicle. That being said, I do like the "regular mask" stylistically. It reminds me of a Kanohi, but I'm not sure which one.
  11. Depending on how popular the new Bionicle series becomes, it may come close. I'm sure that diehard Bionicle fans like BZP members could probably buy enough of the new sets to solidify its popularity. If the story proves to be as similar to the original as it appears, this generation of kids will probably love it just as much and for the same reasons we did, and that spawned 9-ish years worth of Bionicle the first time around.
  12. I would like to try the Matoro Death scene! I was thinking of doing it in a style similar to what one would see in an old codex or bible, with a large border and a sort of mosiac drawing style. EDIT: Can't do it. I was never able to draw Bionicles
  13. If you read the previous posts, you'll see that's confirmed (specifically my list in my first post; page 1). Generally wisest to always do that before posting in a topic. Sorry about that. I remembered the list, but I thought you had said only that Skakdi spoke Matoran. Now that I see it, I realize that I mistook "Skakdi (also speak Matoran) as meaning that the Skakdi fall under the banner of Matoran-speaking peoples. (Like the Brits speak English, but the Americans also speak English)
  14. Yeah, I was kind of thinking that a lot of different languages would have to exist for Nokama's mask to be useful. So, I guess lots of rahi languages as well. Well there are a lot of islands with inhabitants we've never seen before (Sidorak's people could have their own language for instance) I also like to think that the Skakdi have their own language, even though they can speak Matoran. Tahtorak and Keetongu can speak Matoran, but I assume they would not communicate with others of their species in Matoran. Also, the Visorak have a language.
  15. He seems a little squat, but I could not for the life of me think of any way to make his body longer and still attach his armor. I'm working with just the pieces I own, and even then, just the ones I can find in the vast sea of Bionicle parts that I have
