  1. Lego brought back bionicle when I made a Hero Factory version of Tahu, lego was impressed and wanted to use my idea, and I said on the page that lego was allowed to take my idea and that I wanted bionicle to come back so it did. We did this together because we had unity and duty and destiny and I pray to greg every night.
  2. I think that the new announcement will be that Lego has been bought by mega-bloks and there will be new exciting new crossover themes like Friends + Call of Duty, and an upgrade to Lego's inferior plastic.
  3. You say that a 3D printer will possibly run you $300 or $500. Yes, that's true. But if you want one that can print legos that will actually stay together and work and be maybeI MegaBloks quality, you're going to need a LOT better printer than that. Probably thousands of dollars, if not more. I'm very excited for this concept. Personally, I think that lego was just jumping on the 3D printing bandwagon buzz while it was hot, and won't be making anything like this until 3D printing technology gets a lot better. Personally, I hope we get something better than 3D printing in our homes, because while 3D printing is nice, for situations like an interlocking building toy, it's a relatively inefficient method, albeit the best we've got right now. But you never know, the remote location part could be promising. To me, it looks like something that clicks together, like a technic pin into a technic hole, or maybe a complex/large/multicolored piece that needs to be printed in two batches and then snapped together to create the element.
  4. I can't seem to find it. Are you sure you don't mean protodermic or infected hau? Dang, nice one m8
  5. As usual, this is great. I'm always a bit disappointed to see you using the same techniques on mocs over and over, but you're just so freakin good at nonpurism. I love it. Edit: what's going on in the rear?
  6. Also, the silver miru nuva has been seriously devalued since some people in europe obtained hundreds (or maybe it was thousands?) of them. They are now worth well below $2. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=43614&colorID=66 Cmon, if you want people to actually buy your stuff, you gotta offer competitive prices. I'm certainly interested in those EU/US huna + komau sets, but $60 is beyond insane, as are the TNOK
  7. I clicked the wrong vote but I meant to pick the glatorian. I'm not sure what 1st shadow has been smoking, but the glatorian have been proved time and time again to be the most powerful toa.
  8. Because all you do is bash on other people's MOC's. When is the last time you made a submission? > implying one must post mocs on bzp to be considered a mocist
  9. The price is on the page. Just click the link. Didn't notice that at first, but it's only on that one picture. In that picture, the other 3 sets have numbers in front of them, so I'd guess it's some weird graphical error. The large pictures below don't have the squiggles.
  10. I'm surprised that platinum avohkii ad is buy it now. I've never seen something like that auctioned, and I doubt the seller has either. You'd think they'd take what they can get. It's pretty cool though, for collectors. Depends on what the shipping is. I don't like it when people act like shipping is something that should be evaluated separately in the value of a purchase. You had to pay two fees to get your goods, so the combination of those two fees is what your goods actually cost.
  11. I got a knockoff stormer 3.0 on ebay a while back from china. The quality is definitely much worse than lego, but it's hard to tell unless you're actually holding it, so I doubt people would notice in pictures or display. Also, it's not the brittle plastic that was used for old bionicle knockoffs, so it doesn't break too easy. Hopefully that's what they used for these, although I think it's a different brand. And yeah I wish they were separate. I think I did find them separate a few weeks back on a chinese website, and for much cheaper, but I'm making assumptions based on what I could glean from google translate. And yeah, contest prizes would be awesome! (Hint hint, bzp!) By the way, the silver leg on C-3PO should be there. I haven't seen the movies in a while, but I assume it's gotta be from some part, because the official lego technic C-3PO set also has a silver leg (which was quite an annoyance for those of us that like pairs of technic panels!) Yes, I know. I said that in the first sentence of my post, which apparently you didn't read. I'd like to hope that the person who made the cuusoo project sold the files to a chinese company, and either got a good chunk of money for a project which would otherwise have gotten him nothing, or is making some royalties off it. I also think it's likely that the project was created by a chinese company/individual in the first place, because I find it surprising that the creator didn't post about his project on sites like BZP or Eurobricks (at least, I assume he didn't.) I'm hopeful that they didn't steal the designs, and anyway, I think it would be rather hard to steal the design of something that doesn't exist! XD Sure looks like it. I'd like to see a comparison, though I'd buy it even if it wasn't an exact match to lego's colors If you pay me, sure
  12. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/4pcs-lot-Super-Heroes-Factory-Star-Wars-assembling-Building-Blocks-Sets-Classic-Toys-ompatible-With-Lego/2005611632.html Some new hero factory knockoffs have surfaced (I've actually known about these for about a month, just recently found them cheap and more readily accessible), which are exact replicas of an old cuusoo project. Whether this means that a chinese company stole this, bought it out, or was the original poster will probably never be revealed, but what we do know is that it has some great parts for people who have no qualms about non-purism. They're on sale now to whoever's interested. I'll probably get them eventually, but I figure somebody else should get them too, since they really deserve a good review, and I'm a bit... awful at reviews. I'll just leave that to somebody competent. Anyway, they don't take paypal or amex which is why I'm not springing on them right now, I won't have a mastercard until at least another week. After that I'll likely buy them. Just a word of warning, there's been some people who have had bad experiences on aliexpress, as it is based entirely in china, and that's of course going to come with its own issues. But from what research I've done, it seems that as long as the seller isn't sketchy, and you're not buying anything expensive or in bulk, you're unlikely to run into problems. Furthermore, it seems to me that if a company was out to scam on that website, they would either be selling something that more people are interested in, or claiming to sell a wide range of products. Such a niche product isn't exactly scam worthy. I've bought plenty from china, and been fully satisfied by everything except delivery times, which will of course be a while. So just buy with caution. Regardless of whether people are interested in buying, it's certainly interesting to see such a product. Clearly constraction is still lucrative, enough so that third party companies don't even have to rip off lego to thrive.
  13. I mean a picture on the ebay topic. I should think you would have been able to see that it wasn't light blue. And a light blue kaukau is certainly not worth $32. I bought mine for $25, and I regret paying so much. They frequently go on bricklink for less than $20. And I wouldn't say all kaukaus are $4, maybe tops. But in ebay lots, you really aught to be paying less than bricklink prices.
  14. Yeah $32 was not a good deal. Even if it was the light blue one, it wouldn't have been that great of a deal. Wasn't there a picture?
  15. That's cool, depending on how much you paid for it though The gold and silver are easiest to get (besides normal blue), since there were mask packs with just gold and silver masks. You can probably get those two for a total of $3 easily. The yellow one will be harder, about $15 and some luck
  16. Introducing a new potential renting service from Modalt Masks! Reasoning: People have expressed that the biggest downside of our painted masks is that you buy them once, for what can be arguably described as a good chunk of money, and only use it once for a character. That's all fine and dandy for people who like to keep their characters together, but for people who are more active moccers, this is not ideal. So we came up with the idea of renting masks. The upside of this is that it doesn't affect my sales at brickfair much (only the sales to online peeps, which is less than 25% of sales), and our online sales are just about nothing right now, so I think that this will only help us. How it will work: There are 3 types of fees associated with this. Deposit: I need to be sure that people can't just steal/damage my masks and hurt my business. This is potentially a very big kind of problem with small businesses like mine. With this in mind, the amount of money you pay will be rounded up to the cost of the three masks, plus shipping. For example, if you pay $12 to rent 3 masks, you would have to pay $23 up front (the cost of buying and shipping 3 masks), and I would refund the $11 when the renting period is over. -If you want to keep a mask, you can! Just tell me you want to keep it, and I just won't refund the deposit. The deposit will always be the same cost as buying a mask. -If you accidentally damage a mask while you rent it, I will give a partial refund of the deposit, depending on the severity of the damage. If you just chip the paint on a corner, that's so minimal that I may not even charge for that. But if you chip a bunch of paint off a part that has a design, or the specific color of paint needs to be mixed again, that will warrant a fee. But that shouldn't happen too often, and I will always be reasonable with the repair fees. -Hopefully people will be understanding with the deposit fee. Not only is it insurance, it makes a lot of other things easier for me! Shipping: The buyer will of course have to pay for shipping both ways. The shipping TO the customer will be $2; I will help the customer to get the cheapest shipping possible, so it should be $2 back as well. Subscription: The previous two fees cover necessities for my business that make sure that I'm not losing money. Here's the part where I make money, but this is also the part that is variable right now. I want to hear feedback from BZP users as to what they think is reasonable. The way I see it, this service obviously needs to be cheaper than just buying a mask, and by a lot. If a person only rents one mask, that already drives their fees up to $4 from shipping, and $2 is just not enough money to split between me and my partner for this service. Therefore, obviously, I would have to have a minimum of at least 2 masks rented at a time for me to be operating at enough of a profit. Shipping doesn't go up until you get up to a number of masks that is entirely unreasonable also. I think the best course of action would be to say that a person can rent 3 masks, for a subscription fee of $8. With both shipping fees factored in, that makes it almost half the cost of BUYING the three masks ($12 versus $23). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TLDR: You rent 3 masks for 3 months, pay me $23 up front, and then I refund you $11 when the 3 months are over. It's almost half the cost of buying the masks, and if you decide you want to keep the masks, all you have to do is tell me, and I just don't refund anything! Easy peasy! I do all the math for you. I need your feedback! This is still in the idea stage. If I ever go legit with this, I will definitely need a small website to run this (my college will provide web space), but in the initial stages of the project, I can try this out manually, without a website. I want you guys, BZP members, to tell me what you think of this idea! Is the cost still too high for you to make up your mind on buying from Modalt? Do you think the renting period is too short, or too long? Would you rather rent less, or more, masks? Are you worried about this service because of the deposit? I am a well-respected buyer/trader in the bionicle/bzp community, bricklink, and ebay. Hopefully people will find this service interesting/helpful!
  17. You're being awfully authoritative for somebody who's only found one that's darker, but I'd believe it if somebody had better evidence.
  18. I was between 1 and 2, but Micah's gundam seemed more in the spirit of the contest, Felix's entry doesn't really come across as a piloted mecha to me. Plus I think making such a great gundam must have been pretty tough!
  19. [Edited] I'm gonna go ahead and withdraw, I've gotten a lot of hate for my entry and if I just withdraw at least it'll be my fault that I lose and all the people who have been mean can be satisfied

  21. Hey Gin, protip: Don't base your prices off ebay, unless you're basing them off the cheapest auction that has sold in the last 6 months. Base prices on bricklink. Or the cheaper of the two. 90% of the bionicle stuff on ebay is more than 2 times as expensive as it should be, and likewise should be ignored ;D GL selling the stuff!
