  1. IC: Fate - Hallways "I suppose so." I was far more interested in her suit now that I knew it was a custom build, but if she had something more to share, then I would be content with seeing it as well.
  2. IC: Phantom - The forge Phantom smiled at this, and turned back to look at the wastes. "Friend." She said. The word hung in the air. Phantom was still. Sounds muted by the veil of fog persisted in the atmosphere. Sounds of a town slowly falling apart, and of a forest at it's edge, ready to reclaim it. Soon, there might only be the forge left. "I want to walk through Phantom. Find... things. To have. Keep. Things to keep." She stood, vapor curling as her mass tugged at the air. "But I don't want to be alone." IC: Fate - Hallways "Many things. I constructed the suit I'm wearing." I gestured to my person. "I could not find a suit that... was to my liking, so I built one instead. Aside from that, I've personally crafted every weapon I've ever carried."
  3. IC: Fate - Hallways "Um..." Mum? Was this a word? Several parts of her terminology were greatly confusing me. "I don't use fire." Was all I could say.
  4. IC: Fate - Hallways This was most unprecedented. "...Thank you. That is because I have just finished making it. It is doubtful there is another spine like it."
  5. IC: Bai Bai - The Tower, New Atero "I understand, s-sir. Thank you for your time." I saluted, and left the room. My bones felt like they were going to shake free of my body. IC: Threiaa - The Moa "I dunno, you just seem to be really accommodating." She kept on at the engine's seams, wary of the moment it came free. "You let me sleep in the captain's quarters, you didn't throw me out when I broke-" Erm, "Tampered with the deck console. A skakdi isn't used to things 'a that sort." IC: Tveke - Second Breath "An attack? Where?" I took another look around. "And for that matter, where are we? I don't recognize this place. Too much sand." I hate sand. Got in my arm all the time, rubbed it the wrong way.
  6. IC: Fate - Hallways I stopped in my tracks, turning to look at them again, slight confusion in my eyes. "Are... you talking to me?" I asked.
  7. IC: Bai Bai - The Tower, New Atero, freaking out again "S-sir," I started, "My name is B-Bai Bai." Oh dear Angonce, stop stuttering- "I've been researching the G-great beings and their origins f-for some time now," Okay, a little better, "And this research," I looked down at my reports, only to remember their subject. My eyes widened. This was a terrible idea. "A-and this is just a m-minor p-portion of my res-search," My voice began to taper out, "But it is ma-my duty to rep-p-port all of my f-findings." I very unceremoniously stuck out the more interesting part of my notes, regarding more to the biology and theorized anatomy of the Great Beings, though still containing anecdotes regarding hygiene.
  8. IC: Phantom - The Forge She sat there, contemplating. Her mind was slowly improving, and along with it, her vocabulary. It was as though her consciousness was catching up to some forgotten predecessor. "Iso-lation." The word rolled around her mouth. "It means... alone." She leaned back to look at Gaever, "Do you want to be alone?" A trace of worry splayed across her face. IC: Fate - Dorms The door clicked behind me as I left the room that had held me for several hours. Upon my back I felt a greater weight, my carapace now being approximately one-point-thirty-seven times thicker than before. Enough to provide ample more protection without limiting my mobility. I'd have to adjust my legs and the recoil systems in them, but a test trial would do well enough. I had also borrowed a few unused spines from the deceased, fusing them to and smoothing out my own spines into a nearly solid piece running down my back, the fine edge interrupted thrice by notches in the metal. I'd moved any essential sensory apparatus in the spines to run alongside each side of the new "razor back" design, looking almost bristly. Again, a test run. If they proved less efficient than the classical design, I would remove them. My attention was drawn to two figures standing at the end of the corridor. At first glance, they were uninteresting, but at second glance... My feet moved me onward. Considering the reaction I had garnered last time I'd "gushed" about a suit's unique features, I kept my observation from relative distance, only slowing down to peer as inconspicuously as possible. Neither one was terribly unique in structure, though the short one almost certainly was a runt. In the end, I passed by without too much thought, instead choosing to continue my test walk.
  9. IC: Bai Bai - New Atero, The Tower With Armani's nudge, I shuffled forward, book and papers still clutched close to my chest. I didn't know if I could take another step. OOC: I'm going to wait for Hakkzan's response to do anything more
  10. IC: Bai Bai - New Atero, The Tower "I understand..." I said as my feet tapped the ground. My voice was quiet, but still audible. I was already beginning to regret taking Armani up on the offer of a free ride. IC: Tveke - Second Breath My eyes narrowed, but I didn't move. Instead, I stood still, leering out at the scenery behind the stranger. There was plenty of garbage on the ground, that was sure, but only half of it was recognizable. The landscape beyond that was populated by buildings in styles I'd never seen before. Beyond even that, from what I could glimpse of the horizon, all I could see was the sky. My focus re-asserted itself on the stranger in front of me. Aside from the ship around me, he was the only thing somewhat recognizable. I couldn't remember the island his species was from, but I knew of it. "Why are you here?" I asked, "I'm trying my best not to blow a hole through your head right now, so pick some good words and say 'em." IC: Threiaa - The Moa This guy sure was compliant, Threiaa could give him that much. That was a little bizarre. Maybe he had some kind of inferiority complex, needed someone to tell him what to do. Come to think of it, she was sure he'd called her 'captain' at one point. ...Wait a second. She pulled her riveter from her side, and casually brought it up to rest on the engine hull. "Sure were quick to go for those guns there... any particular reason why?" No reason being too hasty right now, but Threiaa knew that hospitality always came at a price, one way or another. And really, she hated to start suspecting him of any ulterior motives, but growing up in capstone does that to a person.
  11. Nah you aren't bothering. Frankly it's nice to have more interaction to drive posting. Also Edited, btw. I figure since he's more addressing Melody, she could carry the conversation more until Sim is addressed specifically.
  12. Oh Dang Sorry, I forgot D: I'll go edit
  13. IC: Sim - Refectory "Yes, yes... I'm quite, ah, fine." Silence. Time seemed to drag on around me. "If a bit restless, I suppose." ... "Or... anxious." I wasn't going to say it to her, but I hardly felt that we had really accomplished anything. Establish the ground works for a future movement, sure, but hardly the beginnings of change. Thankfully, before the awkward moment dragged on any longer, a stranger entered the fray. "Oh, hello," I diverted my attention to this green rahkshi, as well as Melody's hopefully. OOC: Hollow hasn't responded to Slif in around a month now... if he doesn't soon I'm going to just go ahead and move him.
  14. IC: Bai Bai - New Atero, The tower Oh gosh no- I can't make her late! Especially after she carried me to the tower, and all the way up here. "No no no, you're fine! You're just.... fine. I'm sure a great hero like yourself has more important things to do, and I'd hate to make you late." In all serious, this was a pathetic excuse. She was much too genuine and kind to take that as a legitimate reason not to take me downstairs. I really don't like to fib... ...But I don't like feeling like garbage even more, so that rules that out. "Plus, as long as the information gets to Hakkzan, it should be fine. It all goes to him anyway... right?" IC: Threiaa - The Moa "Oi, wait. Maybe you should take care of the guns whoile I work on this." She rapped the casing with her wrench. "Wouldn't want them to go off whoile we're working, roight?" IC: Tveke - Tesara, Second Breath "What're you talkin' about, we're under attack! We've got to make a... break... what did you just call me?" Sir? Tchepoh never calls me 'sir'. Captain, sure. Tv, definitely. Sir? Karzing sir? "Tchepoh never calls me sir." The day melted around me, old times blending into the new. Dusk took over the sky. And in place of Tchepoh, there was a stranger. "Tchepoh never called me sir..." My voice cracked, as struggling memory recovered more of my past. Whatever confusion clouded my eyes quickly snapped into cold survivalist instinct. I let go of him, and raised my prosthetic arm in a defensive stance. Sparks laced between my fingers. "Who're you, and what're you doing on my ship?" OOC: Tv's gonna take a second to get back up to speed with the present, so he doesn't remember Mirror yet.
  15. IC: Kekepua - En route to the Cauldron The beast's new servant flew in silent stoicism. Or anxious stupor, one of the two. Either way, the magnificent specimen of a rahkshi did not care much whether he spoke or not. Any words not directly relating to her personal gain were trivial vibrations in the wind. Plucking a stone from the bag at her waist and popping it into her mouth, she began to idly chew at it, savoring the sting. Hopefully the rock would last before they landed. IC: Sim - Refectory My smile faltered. While I felt the intentions of the group were good, and I'd much rather be aligned with than against them, I hardly felt we'd made any kind of lasting difference yet. Or that we would in the near future, for that matter. "Right... yes." I scratched at my nose again, more out of habit than anything. OOC: Aaah sorry friends, particularly Sil. I forgot about the flames interaction.
  16. IC: Bai Bai - New Atero, The Tower, riding atop a smaller tower "O-oh... I usually just, give them to the secretary...but we're already here, so..." I trailed off, feeling more than a little silly that I was still riding Armani and had missed my usual stop. IC: Tveke - Tesara, Second Breath I stopped, feeling Tchepoh's resistance. "What's wrong?" I said. Maybe he was in shock? Or emotional trauma? I gave another tug at his arm, as a reminder of the urgency of the situation. IC: Threiaa - The Moa "Roight then," Her vision fuzzed and blurred as the thermal sensors in her eyes activated, overlaying normal sight with hues of red and blue. The engines of the Jetrax were still slightly warmer than the rest of the ship, but they had cooled as much as they could in the evening sun, and were continuing to do so in the shelter of The Moa. "She looks loike she'll come apart easy enough, without havin' to worry about blowin' up at least." She inspected the seams of the engine as she said, "I say we take off the engines first, get the real good stuff out of the way." IC: 042 - Outside New Atero Progress, so far, was abysmal. The sun continued to near it's rest, the red shape teasing at the edges where it neared the horizon. 042 was still more than a mio away from the walls of the city, wherein lie help, and safety. Out here, when night overtook the desert, the guard would be exposed to the creatures of night and terror. It seemed doubtful that it would be ignored for having no meat or flesh. Movement always denoted life to the wild, and right now, 042 could not afford to stop. It hobbled as hastily as it could. OOC: 042 OFI
  17. IC: Tveke - Alleys -> Second Breath I scoffed, "It's Second Breath, Tchepoh! What, do you have wall-rot in your eyes?" With her engines, we'd get clear of harm in a matter of moments. "Come on, help me hoist off," I said to him, running up into the hold of the ship. IC: Threiaa - The Moa Once again, the word somehow flew over Threiaa's head, hardly fazing her train of thought. Or, perhaps, she only guessed what he said, hardly hearing over the noise of Pakari's Maiden puttering to the floor with salvage in tow. "It's a Jetrax!" She shouted over the engines, only cutting them off as she finished, "A good chunk of the hardware is still good, the cockpit took a moighty beating though." She clambered out of her Rockoh, limbs gangling about as she collected herself. "The engines should be useful, and there's more than a few guns on it, too." IC: Bai Bai - New Atero, The Tower "O-oh... sorry..." I mumbled. While Armani talked to the secretary, I hung back, hiding as best I could behind her helmet. IC: 042 - Outside New Atero, Salty and Trudging 042 was mildly surprised at it's own outburst. Language such as that was usually outside of it's pallette, but stressing times... elicited stressing words. At this point, the machine had crudely used the cord of the damaged grappling cord to connect pieces of the broken leg together. It was by no means pretty, but a collection of rods tied together for a peg leg was better than no leg at all. Taking tentative steps on the makeshift replacement, 042 began the long walk back to New Atero. The walls loomed as militant walls tend to do. Ominously. Noonday sun slowly sank into sunset, a frightful reminder of the impermanence of life. 042 silently hoped that whatever higher powers had granted it with free will, would grant the guard further time to enact it.
  18. IC: Bai Bai - On the shoulders of giants... or really, just the one moderate-ly giant "Daily..." I rasped, before slipping into panic again, only eeking out, "Reports," after nearly a minute of heavy breathing. I squeezed Armani's head between my arms, trying to anchor myself before I fell off entirely.
  19. IC: Bai Bai - On top of the PoJ Her huge arms moved me to her back, where I used whatever strength I still had in my body to lift myself onto her shoulders. I felt alive, being up this high. But, y'know, still terrified and everything. Due to the "star-struck nerd" thing I had going on at the moment. Great Beings.... Armani was carrying me on her shoulders.
  20. IC: Bai Bai - On top of the Pillar of Justice Again, I could only nod, acknowledging both Armani and Ezezko. This was entirely beyond what I'd imagined happening if I ever met Armani. Er... again, anyway. Last time was hardly flattering as it was. My stumpy little legs limply dangled while in her arms. IC: 042 - The Moa --> New Atero outskirts "...Fine then. I cannot force your hand as a sworn servant of New Atero, you are within your rights. But I am also, quite within my rights, to display my thoughts on the matter." The increasingly fuming(both literally and figuratively) android stepped back off of The Moa. With one foot in the sand and the other dangling from it's arm, 042 parted with these stirring words; "To karz with you, brakas." And it hopped off into the desert. IC: Tv - Tesara Alleyways --> Second Breath "Get your head together brother! Where else would we be going?" The two of us broke through the foliage and undergrowth of the forest, to find Second Breath, gleaming in the late noon suns. OOC: In reality, they "broke" through the alley entrance to the junkyard Second Breath resides in. And it's much less gleaming, and more "mildly scratched and dull in the late noon sun"
  21. IC: Bai Bai - Most definitely hyperventilating, still beneath the pillar of Justice I could only nod and squeak a little appreciatively, still unsure why my mouth refused to work.
  22. IC: Bai Bai - Beneath the Unshakeable Pillar of Justice and maybe hyperventilating My stupid one track brain! I couldn't take my eyes away from the book for one second, idiot, idiot, idiot! "I am so sorry!! I wasn't watching my steps, I shuuuuuh...." My mouth decided to stop working, as I looked up at the face of the hand offered to me. It was Armani. The vigilant. The resilient. The unShAkEABLE. AnD SHE REMEMBERED MY NAME. All I could do was emit a very quiet, high pitched whine.
  23. IC: Bai Bai - New Atero Streets This book really was interesting. Aside from the known facts and pieces of history surrounding the Great Beings lifestyle, it was hypothesized that Great Beings actually took baths in a kind of "saturated" protodermis. Supposedly it was both a bathing method and an odd form of skin care, but that seemed somewhat farfetched. Cross-referencing to "The life and times of Deothus", one of the few surviving records of life amongst the great beings, would imply that protodermis baths were to strengthen the resilience of the body, with any effects to the skin being purely superficial and inconsequential to their culture. It was as I was delving into this odd document that I finally lost track of the road in front of me. My eyes would not leave the pages before them. And I was perfectly content with that. ....Until I walked face first into a very hard thigh plate, sending both me and the book very quickly to the ground. OOC: @zippywharrgarbl eyyyy
  24. IC: Bai Bai - New Atero streets The sun was getting lower... better get there before my deadline runs out. My (admittedly diminutive) feet pattered along the ground in haste. I was not going to be late again. The tower was getting closer, I could be inside in a matter of minutes. OOC: Bai Bai OFI
  25. IC: Tveke - Tesara, Central Marketplace -> Alleyways I was still dragging Tchepoh behind me, his legs were hardly keeping up with me. He was always so spry, you'd think he'd be able to keep up. We ran into the back alleys, me still guiding him along. IC: 042 - The Moa The machine closed it's eyes. Today had been excruciatingly long, and this matoran was only prolonging it. "Sir," It's eyes opened, "I need to return to the city. Without means of travel and maintenance, I will cease to function. I would, by your terms, die. I only ask for transport to the city." IC: Threiaa - The Moa Outside, Threiaa was busying herself with Pakari's Maiden. Positioning it over the wreck of Red Hydraxon, she threw her big red lever, lowering the claw. Oh, how she loved her big red lever. It was so wonderfully, obviously, positioned alongside the seat. Nice and simple. A quick squeeze of the handle, and the industrial-sized claw game punctured the hull of Red Hydraxon, pulling it close to the belly of her vessel. Then, both ships rose into the air, puttering towards the cargo bay of The Moa.
