  1. I love that there’s still some hype for Bionicle going around! I have a few rares but no prototypes:

-Full set of ‘01 European misprints

-Gold ignika (one on the set and one on the display rack)

-Full set of protodermic nuva masks

-Gold Kraahkan, MEK, ultimate Dume helmet

    -Trans orange Kraata

    -WMKK

The only rare, non-prototype, non-rare metal mask I’m missing is the Exclusive Tour Gali mask. Would love to see one come up for sale for less than $3000 but I’m not holding my breath 😂

  2. @Nescent: saying it's "very clearly a trans-orange Hau" is a bit presumptuous. It's clearly trans-orange, but where is the iconic open-mouth design of the Hau? What's up with what looks to be ridge of spikes along the forehead?

It's obvious that LOGICALLY there's a high likelihood of it being a Hau, what with us having seen these in the hands of the select few. But looking at the blurry image provided, I think there's also a possibility of it being a completely new mask. Unless I'm the only one here who can't see that it's "CLEARLY a Hau". In that case, I'll cede my argument and my skepticism :P

  3. Well, that's all fine with me. I don't quite agree with the reasoning though... The reason I didn't post until 2minutes later is that I knew we were over the deadline and "theoretically" it wouldn't have made a difference after that. So I was taking my time to post a thought-out response.

But hey, all yours Munty. It was up in the air anyway. It was a good match, and I salute you as a fellow collector :)

  4. Yeah, but both your edit and that last post were later than 11:59

Not sure how this works... guess it's up to TLH :P

For the record, I think this needs to be layed out clear. Both Munty and I bid exactly $195 at 11:59 (The deadline). He edited his to $200 at 12:00 but our bids were the sam at the deadline. If we're going over 11:59, I'll say $205 but I don't think we want to go there...

  5. $120 for the vmkk.

TLH, Would you be able to provide a picture of the back side of the gpkk? That's curious, the front looks almost how I would imagine a vmkk might look if it had the metal stripped off :P ...Or maybe just a gpkk that got chewed on by a cat/dog/small human/zyglak.

  6. Just curious, in the pictures on ebay, the mouthpiece on the back of the vmkk looks to me to be a different color than the rest of the krana. Almost looks like just dark gray plastic? I only have a wmkk and I don't know much about vmkk's; is this typical?

  7. From my experience, I've built a good bunch of the alternate models and am continually surprised at how many I am able to make with orders of spare parts from eBay. Supplement that with a few BL orders like Munty said, and you can build a TON of these. Having bought 2 big parts lots and only about 4-5 actual sets, I'd say I'm about a third to halfway there in terms of parts required to build all of the combiners. I actually started making a list just like this one of how many copies of each set I would need, but it turns out there are much cheaper ways to go about it.

Yeah Munty, some of these are really quite hideous. So far, I've found the Lego Magazine instructions to be the best-looking sets (eg. Toa Jovan), along with some of the Japanese models (Red and Brown Rahkshi combiner, bohrok combiner). Whereas ironically, a lot of the less "gray-area" sets are just horrendous (vahki combiner, Gaardus). Interestingly, a lot of the bigger, ugly looking mashups of 6 sets actually look less ugly in real life than in the pictures.

  8. Re: Ektris' post: Yeah, that's definitely a mistake. All 6 2003 matoran are needed to make 2 combiners, but it's not a clear-cut "these 3 make this combiner and those 3 make that one". It's more that both combiners require pieces from all 6, but both can be built with only one set of six. Hope that makes sense :P

@Munty: if you want to see some REALLY obscure combiners (much more so than those 3), check out Volitak_Boxor's "Comprehensive Alternate Model Database": http://tinyurl.com/ll439am

There's also a link to it in his sig I believe :)

Edit: D'oh. TomRoid already linked that, my bad.

  9. @Munty: I knew you were very close to me on both sets and collectibles, I was being a bit facetious :P

@Bike: That is an awesome bionicle ice cube!

I don't think "undisputed" means what you think it means. Unless it means "floridly delusional and also not a forum mod". I'm cool with that. :)

Back on topic, @Lesovikk: I'm also very curious to find out where that gold Kanoka winds up... If Munty strikes it off his list, I'm also a very small step closer to finding my own.

I am the undisputed Bishop of the Island!

  10. @Blueblur: That's one of many hilarious differences between large chunks of Canada and the US... I live in Northern BC which is isolated, but not quite Alaska. And I STILL haven't seen a single 2015 bionicle in-store yet.

If you feel like you're in the middle of ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE, you're in good good company with me... :P Australia, you have my sympathy. You guys are on an island separated by water, we're on an island separated by stupid politics, economics and not-so-free trade.
