  1. I have thought of using those fists, but that would ruin the overall image, plus the grip just depends on proper adjustment of the fingers.
  2. http://orig14.deviantart.net/57fa/f/2016/059/e/2/slizer_throwbot___millennium_rider_form___2016_by_mate397-d9tgizh.jpg I know, the bike is just a slightly pimped out version of the original, but for it I cannibalized The Forgotten Rider MOC for it, but I tried to balance out the black, red and bit of grey. Also made Millennium itself is give more points of articulation while keeping his size nearly the same size, also balancing out the colors on him, and yes I know I used two different grey colors but it still works well. 3. http://orig13.deviantart.net/e213/f/2016/059/c/7/witch_doctor_and_hudu_by_mate397-d9tg8ye.jpg After a while I realized the previous revamp of Witch Doctor wasn't exactly a great work of mine I decided to give it another shot as well as cannibalizing Wudu into it, and adding Hudu as Witch Doctor's minion. Minus a slight bit of wobbling at the waist/abdomen area. Also dual wielding magical staves. 4. ...Or maybe, like many LEGO designers, English isn't his first language. That would be the common-sense explanation. It always amazes me how judgmental people can be about these videos. LEGO designers aren't hired for their ability to stand in front of a camera without looking or sounding awkward, they're hired for their design skill. And I think it's wonderful of LEGO to publish designer videos like this that let us hear about the sets directly from the designers. So what if they're sometimes a bit awkward doing it? I can get that English isn't their main language, but at least put some effort into rehearsing it, or there is literally nothing stopping them from just using subtitles while they speak danish. And the video before was bad too, the kid there was clearly uninterested and just wanted it to be over with, while the guy was trying too hard to invest the kid. On camera chemistry is also something that has to work, something those two didn't have at all.
  5. Are they doing this on purpose now? This guy's English is bad, like really bad. Repetitive, short sentences with awkward pauses. It's like he was literally pulled in front of the camera while he was doing something completely different and he is beyond confused as he is reading his lines.
  6. The people putting most of these sets on display are PR people, not set designers or master builders. I suppose LEGO doesn't see the need to pull those latter people away from their busy schedules so some AFOLs don't complain about construction mistakes or poor posing. Don't get me wrong, I wish they were posed better or that I had time to move things around before I took each picture, but that's not a possibility in the limited time we have access to the sets. Being a PR person has nothing to do with putting a set properly together or posing it right, anyone can do that, I'm sure the instructions booklets were given for each display set. Well they probably have other things to do as well. There are a lot of sets to assemble and distribute. They probably prioritize stuff like getting the giant $100+ sets together and ready over stuff like posing a handful of $10-$20 figures. I suppose, but don't they have a final check or something before the display is open?

  8. Ekimu's mask is not on properly(other wise it's okay as a set), Lava beast has the other arm crystal upside down, Storm beast is posed like he went number 1 on the display and the construction shown from back looks too overdone, Quake beast's function arm is ridiculously over designed, and Umarak feels hollow, like they forgot about him and in the last minute threw something together. Posing and putting the sets together was as it seems a hard task for these folks... Though the corrupted Mask of Control does look nice the lower jaw doesn't work for it, for the beasts it sort of works but just barely. This wave feels rushed and wants to be too many things at once.
  9. It's an interesting idea, but is it just me or are they starting over-use the bow as a weapon? Yes, for tribal level of technology that's the only effective range-weapon, but I'm still curious how the launchers work in canon.
  10. It's simple but cute, I'm sure they'd be good friends with my mountain bat =D
  11. They could have done a better job at the uploading part of the site, it's a mess, I tried to send in a bookmark or what not and everything but the image I wanted popped up.
  12. I was thinking adding some metru dark gold armor pieces on the feet, but I decided not to as that would have been too much gold on him.
  13. http://orig06.deviantart.net/960a/f/2016/033/3/a/slizer_throwbot___millennium_millennia_by_mate397-d9q9m01.jpg The last missing piece can in the mail yesterday so I was finally able to take pictures of this fella, it was 99% done aside from missing a piece from the arm. Originally I wanted to make a transforming MOC but after that attempt didn't work out I tried going for a mechsuit aspect thus having the Titan and Biker form separately by just switching the driver's location, and that turned into this right now. And yes, he has wheels in his feet so it can roll around with style. 14. I admit, I'm not a 100% with this one, I will tweak on it at some point.
  15. http://orig10.deviantart.net/e9d2/f/2016/018/2/c/slizer_throwbot___city_turbo___2016_redux_by_mate397-d9oelyg.jpg First MOC to get shot by my new camera (would have used it earlier but a little technical hiccup happened but that got fixed since). Just for comparison here is the 2010 first version http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Turbo-AA-gun-168697039 Took a little inspiration from the Stealth Tank from the NOD faction in Command and Conquer, and a minor influence of RoboRider Boss too. Sure he turned into a battle tank, but he needs some edge over those vehicle eating fuel trucks no? Detailshots: http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Side-585190365 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Back-585191486 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Throwing-Arm-585191639 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Battle-Mode-585192006 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Side-Cannon-585192746 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Side-Treads-585192893 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/City-Turbo-Comparison-585193151
  16. http://orig08.deviantart.net/a1a7/f/2016/016/2/0/chi_vardy___revamp_by_mate397-d9o704w.jpg Now this one and Fluminox (still in WIP, need his wings and few finger pieces, can post of the current progress if interested though) have a funny story to them, after being disappointed by the Force Awakens movie I lost interest in getting Kylo and Phasma (still gonna get the regular storm trooper and maybe Rey though) and for some reason I felt the need to revamp an official set, no idea why... and for no actual reason really I chose those two to under go some make over. I purposefully gave so few ribs since he was frozen in ice, once getting out of it something(s) tend to stay in the ice, and since he is a vulture he should have an eternal craving for feeding upon something, like an actual zombie, the wings are also for the same reason look so skeletal and only with little amount of feathers. http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Chi-Vardy-Side-584835679 http://mate397.deviantart.com/art/Chi-Vardy-Back-584835880
  17. http://orig08.deviantart.net/b7a5/f/2016/016/2/d/witch_doctor___revamp_by_mate397-d9o73bs.jpg Now hear me out on this one. True the original set does look nice the way it does, though it felt a little generic if you will, just another very tall humanoid baddie. Instead I used up the pieces I got from the partially complete set I bought to tweak on him a little. Though to be honest the main drive for that came from back in 2015 when I pretty much finished the MOC, this counting as the last MOC of 2015 for me still (just needed 1 more friction piece for the leg), you see my job at that car part store (the name's Unix if it says anything to anyone) decided to fire me a day before Christmas, plus I still had a week left from my try-out too. So you can imagine I was a bit ###### off, but I managed to channel my emotions into building and after a while I got this guy. I may switch out a few lift arm pieces to white though, then again the white armor pieces on him now are like those fur clothing pieces on Shamans and Witch Doctors, same for his back, giving him a sort of cloak if you will. But what I probably like the most are the Toa Mata heads used on him as shrunken heads. He also has a gear function at the waist, a little something I thought I add just for fun. 18. Now that you mention it, I suppose it could be something from either Borderlands or some other RPG like game.
  19. You can't seriously expect to do a revamp of something and literally keep everything the way it was, that's not how it works. Sure, I'm aware it can't throw a disk, but that wasn't the only thing it could do, granted the rest of the abilities were only shown on the disks where each could do various things and all that but you get the point. Plus if I'd stick the throwing arms on my revamps it would look ridiculous not to mention breaking the overall flow of the creation, as for the head. While the head piece is iconic for them, no doubt about that, I wanted to give each some personality beyond a single piece with a different colored printed visor as much as possible. Though I did try to make them be alike as best as I could (talking about all the revamps I have thus far) and the only ones that still use the headpiece with the visor are the City/Turbo revamp and the currently still WIP Millennium/Millenia revamp, only reason for that is that there I managed to pull that off without it looking awkward. I still use Slizer/ThrowBot pieces as much as possible as long as it works with the overall build.
  20. Bought them from BrickLink, if you mean a set, I'll be honest I don't know exactly where they originate from
  21. Thanks, I try to find the right balance between the old and the current pieces
  22. http://orig01.deviantart.net/5a87/f/2015/360/9/2/slizer_throwbot___rock_granite_by_mate397-d9litr6.jpg A bit after finishing Sub/Scuba I got an idea for this fella, this time the StarCraft Zerg unit Roach was the main inspiration of the general shape. Also added some crystal growth on it to make it look like it's part stone/crystal/ore, also it doesn't have eyes, it's blind. But it has crystal mandibles, small horn on the head and a mole's star nose like growth to feel more sensitively in front of it while digging underground. Though I did integrate some features from my Energy/Electricity revamp into this one, since the two original sets are similar too.   23. http://orig03.deviantart.net/6bf3/f/2015/358/b/7/slizer_throwbot___sub_scuba_by_mate397-d9lcdui.jpg After this being just an idea still in limbo I finally got around to build my revamp after my friend and I started playing some Fallout 3 and I saw the Mirelurks. The horseshoe crab design was the base of this revamps construction. There is also a slight influence of Barraki Kalmah and Mantax with the clawed tentacle hand. I also accidentally gave it a turning waist , also the arms have a slightly limited articulation due to me using Hordika neck pieces.   24. I tried to keep the axes as simple as possible while making them with a custom look, didn't think they'd look too complex ;
