  1. A fellow is apparently selling all the 2001 Tohunga MISB, plus the box. http://www.ebay.com/itm/162458314241?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  2. Solid question to ask; I'm not sure if there's a chance that you'll find them, but I wish you luck. As far as I am aware, the original model was built by this guy, and he hasn't been active on the boards since late 2015. i'd send him a PM if I were you. If it goes well, please PM me.
  3. In my opinion, this sort of marketing strategy is not unique to TLG. Rather, the degree to which such a strategy can succeed has a lot to do with the intrinsic value of the item being offered. I haven't actually done the math, but I suspect that a pack of baseball cards offers similar odds. If a person is willing to pay for a surplus at all, I don't think that the size of the surplus really factors in.
  4. My answer is going to be pretty clear cut on this one. I mean, I don't want to read a story about emotionless robots. And in my mind, love, whether it's romantic or not, is going to inevitably be an aspect of any well-written, emotion-driven story. It doesn't need to be everywhere, and no, it definitely shouldn't be the driving force of the plot, but it should at least be acknowledged as real.
  5. Keep in mind that the sophistication of a society's technology isn't the only thing that dictates exploration. You can't really say that the Makuta were unable to find Artakha for 100,000 years because they likely weren't looking until Teridax's takeover of the brotherhood, ~79,000 years before the 2001 story. Why? Because they were kept busy by whatever Rahi they were creating, and typically had a reason to avoid venturing from Destral, unless the destination was their administrative division; they all had specific lands that they controlled the day-to-day functions of. Unless you were Kojol, you were busy, not plotting evil (yet), and uninterested. As far as the Matoran and similar species go, I doubt that they came close to utilizing the level of tech necessary to circumvent Artakha's defenses. Just because you regularly use high tech doesn't mean that you know how to engineer it.
  6. Alright, in this guy's defense, he's probably just trying to find a way to make everyone happy. It is sort of a gray area legally. That's true, though I believe that as long as the OP documents that he didn't turn a profit in any way, he is (technically) in the clear. Well, Dark_Stranger, I am in awe of the detail and style of the main image that showcases Makuta and the MoC; what sort of tool did you use to make that? I'm curious to see more, for sure.
  7. Not sure if anyone remembers me, but I'm back.

      Thanks dude; I remember you!

That's good to hear, it's good to be memorable ;)

  8. Sometimes I feel as though TLG should just sell a multipack of SWC trooper heads: a flametrooper, a snowtrooper, a wave one clone trooper, and potentially a few others. The stormtrooper commander would be a waste of my money TBH, but I will be buying the speeder bike, even if it comes with yet another cookie-cutter trooper figure.
  9. As the SM.com team plans to release it, the MNOLG: CE would not be acceptable on Lego Ideas and thus will not be posted there.
  10. Bonklz for you, bonklz for me, bonklz for everybody!

  11. Whoa. This is amazing. I definitely was shocked to see this when I came home from school today. This is unimaginably awesome. I'm glad to hear that you've decided that it's coming back.
  12. Because it focuses on promoting the function of the squid launcher, a story appearance would have likely been considered unnecessary by the story team, and thus I'd assume that none exists. These poly-bag sets were similar in that they were purely set-oriented, while leaving behind any potential for story significance. In the case of the Klakk, it was the first Bionicle set that was exclusively available through the Lego Brickmaster program, so it wasn't really groundbreaking in regards to storyline importance for promotional sets.
  13. Octodad might have a few things to add here, but since I know a bit about this, I thought that I'd say that BZPower receives several free sets each year from Lego for review purposes. As far as I know, this is as far as any official support has ever extended. EDIT: Ninja'd by Octodad.
  14. I live in Australia and New Zealand prices are usually pretty close to ours, but even so, these prices do seem a bit much. Agori/Matoran sets were usually around $10-$12 (except the stars, which were overpriced between $15-$20). Toa/Glatorian ranged from $15-$25 over the years, as the sets grew bigger, and titans were usually somewhere between $30 to $45, depending on the size. Combiner sets were even more expensive, usually in the hundreds. Wait... is this list official, or is it a leak, which we are then not meant to be discussing? It's a leak, with any doubt about its status resolved by a glance at its introduction on Eurobricks: David Thomsen has recently leaked lists and prices for Legends of Chima and Lego Star Wars sets. He's by no means an official representative of TLG, and this list has clearly been leaked.
  15. Unfortunately, I'm almost certain that this is against the rules. Since the site isn't very welcoming of leaked content such as this, I'd recommend that you remove it. The staff are enforcing a policy of taking one point of proto per offense that relates to leaked content, including this list and other similar lists.
  16. It's some running joke from some podcast, I think. I don't know if it was ever actually funny, but for some reason people won't shut up about it. Hopefully once we have official set names we're allowed to discuss it will finally die. Actually, Omega Tahu was a preliminary name for Tahu Stars, which the Internet dug out to be this hugely awesome set, and then we got Tahu Stars...yeah. I'm not sure why the "return" talk is bringing that up again, as a preliminary design from 2010 would be unlikely to get in a 2014 set design, but you know... When the Internet is actually composed of logic, my ears will turn green and flying pigs will happen. In regards to the name "Omega Tahu", any connection to a preliminary name for the Tahu Stars set isn't one that I've ever been able to find any evidence for. I guarantee that the recent wave of popularity for the name comes from the fame acquired by TTV's interview with Greg Farshtey and the subsequent hit that was "Ven's Dream", one of the best known and funniest of TTV's segments. Ven's Dream, which discussed a dream from cast member Venom, involved a revival of Bionicle that featured an "Omega Tahu" set, the return of collectible Kanohi, and a variety of other awesome things. After the list of set names and the colored leaked picture proved that a titan sized Tahu set was slated for release in 2015, "Omega Tahu" flew to a position of viral popularity and Delta Onua, Alpha Kopaka, Theta Lewa, Gamma Gali, and Beta Pohatu followed soon after. Their story is still just beginning. one of the guys on the three virtures podcasts had a dream that bionicle came back(this happened before the bionicle rumors)and he saw a shiny tahu on store shelfs and it was called "omega tahu" and now that we know that bionicle is coming back it is ironically funny that his dream is coming back, especially sense they interveiwed greg and told him about the dream. i think that is what happened This is reasonably close to the way that such a term as "Omega Tahu" climbed to its current level of insane popularity, although I wanted to point out that the current situation isn't ironic in light of the subject matter of Ven's Dream; rather, it's fitting, as the dream predicted the release of an Omega Tahu set. If, for example, the leaked list of set names had revealed that an Omega Tiribomba set was coming, then that would be ironic; however, our expectations matched the situation fitting.
  17. Getting "dark" isn't "growing up", especially not how Bionicle did it. Voya Nui was the darkest, grittiest location Bionicle ever had, and you know what? It felt like a farce. Locations and Rahi were described by how many people they'd killed, characters constantly made sure to trash the brighter mood of earlier years, everything was extreme and deadly, blah blah blah. It was terrible. That's not the Bionicle I want to come back, and that's probably not the Bionicle that's coming back. Do you know why? Sorry, I had to come back to this after rereading it. You're complaining that locations and rahi were described by how many people they've killed, but last time I checked (and I live in Australia, so I check often), that's the way we gauge how dangerous a thing or place is in real life as well. You can't fault Bionicle for being realistic and logical for once. Except it wasn't just to gauge how dangerous it was. It was describing ANYTHING on the island. Was Mata Nui described similarly? Was the Vuata Maca described as the darkest, most terrifying tree that a Matoran once exploded upon attempting to climb? Was the Mangai Volcano described as a death pit that could roast any Matoran that fell into it? Was the Hoi described as a terrible beast of torment that claimed the lives of thousands of Matoran each day? Because that's what I mean. Everything on Voya Nui was described like that. The entire island was like a bad parody of a dangerous location. There was a very unique purpose to those over-the-top descriptions in the Voya Nui arc; regardless of how ridiculous they might have seemed, they were crucial to creating the mood that defined the storyline of that year. 2006 was all about a group of heroes that had to hold tightly to courage and hope in the face of a situation that was really bad. Following every single piece of the story as it was released, as I did as an active fan in 2006, I didn't feel disturbed or overwhelmed by the allusions to violence that mostly existed on the edges of that year's books and promotional material. I saw them as a little ridiculous, but the atmosphere was balanced very well by the attitudes of the Toa Inika and the resisting Matoran and the soaring songs such as Move Along that accompanied the promotions that were the second, indispensable piece of the emotional arc of that year; courage triumphing in the face of terrible odds. The storyline definitely took a major risk in 2006, switching i's usual agenda over for something entirely new, but both the softer stories of the past years and the harsher stories of that year were both good writing. Despite their significant differences, both performed their functions quite well.
  18. As far as I can see, there is actually purple in two sets.
  19. This actually really peaks my interest because it looks similar to the size the new Tahu will be. This shows the actual size that the toa will be, which is pretty massive. Jakura's MOC is very well made, and certainly similar in design to past CCBS titan sets, but I guarantee that the 2015 Tahu set won't even be close to it's height. There's really no chance; at that size, he'd be way too large to be sold for under twenty USD. At best, he'll be approximately two-thirds the height of that MOC.
  20. I always thought that Matoran would be referred to by their given names as well as by the name of the village that they came from; i.e., Taipu of Onu-Koro or Kongu of Le-Koro. There's a precedent for this in many human societies, so I think that it fits.
  21. No, of course not! Why would you be allowed to post photos of toys that have already been released?! From what I personally know about BZPower's policy regarding leaked content, I wouldn't be too surprised if leaked pictures of sets that have been on store shelves for more than a year continued to be a problem. I'm half-serious, honestly.
  22. Actually, the video notes the leaker is believed to be the founder of BIONIFIGS.com, a large French website focused on Lego constraction lines. They were the first to leak these pictures of the 2013 constraction versions of Laval and Cragger, which were obviously legitimate. I'd be surprised if a person as invested in the fandom as the founder of BIONIFIGS wasn't entirely certain of the egitimacy of his source or her source. EDIT: It's okay to link to leaked pictures of sets that have already been released, right?
  23. These auctions can't be for standard copies of Black Phantom, right? That would be insane. EDIT: Found an additional similar auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hotsale-Hero-Factory-Black-Phantom-assembled-building-blocks-toy-Gift-for-kid-F3-/141382267492?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item20eb0a3264 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hotsale-Hero-Factory-Black-Phantom-assembled-building-blocks-toy-Gift-for-kid-F2-/141380357562?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item20eaed0dba http://www.ebay.com/itm/sale-Hero-Factory-Black-Phantom-assembled-building-blocks-toy-Gift-for-kid-O-/201153601468?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2ed5b05fbc http://www.ebay.com/itm/sale-Hero-Factory-Black-Phantom-assembled-building-blocks-toy-Gift-for-kid-O-/201154254390?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2ed5ba5636 http://www.ebay.com/itm/sale-Hero-Factory-Black-Phantom-assembled-building-blocks-toy-Gift-for-kid-O-/201152980400?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2ed5a6e5b0
  24. RIP Robin Williams; he and his work are definitely to be missed by many.

  25. I'm pretty sure that we all found out in either October or November of 2008, when the last comic for that year was released in the Lego magazine, and a promotional video by the name of "Mata Nui Rising" showing a giant robot standing up on Aqua Magna was released on bionicle.com.
