  1. I don't want to take the thread off-topic but I like buying new so that I get that nostalgic feeling Unglued mentioned when opening the set. Specially if its something I really wanted when it first came out but never did get.
  2. I would bid but wonder how pricey postage would be from the UK to the US (West Coast)?
  3. good idea! anyway, the deal is not so bad for MISB! it depends, how many bidders want the same thing... also, do you want to resell it, or just for your own collection? Thanks for the input guys, I really want to go for it. And it would be for my personal collection, since I stopped collecting Bionicle around the hordika era. I actually want to buy them new so I can open them is that crazy?
  4. I wanted to report the guy selling the fake Gold Hau (again); however, I had nothing to base the claim on. He was really careful of no where in his auction mentioning that it was gold, whether fake or real, at all. He even had the gall to mention he will NOT be offering a refund. I went ahead and sent him a couple of questions, whether it was a mask made of gold, how much it weighed, etc. Things that would reveal his scam. And have not gotten a reply since, figures. In any case do you guys think this is a good deal? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Bionicle-stars-Collection-NIB-6-Sets-/251523451103?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item3a8ff748df
  5. That was so incredibly well done. The cloud cuckoo land scene looked identical to the movie one.
  6. How about stages? Like Mata Nui's Mangai Volcano; now that would cool to see! And as far as the roster goes it would have to have Toa Takanuva as he would be my personal pick
  7. As someone who is just now reading through the books I have a fresh view on this. I read the comic book runs as they they came out from 2001 to around 2006 but never had access to the books. I now own all the books so Im reading through them and I find that the stories are richer and more detailed. Im re-reading the comics as well, as I get through the books, to do a side-by-side comparison and find that the comics severely condense the stories and omit many things for the sake of keeping it brief and to the point. I have a bias towards the comics since that's one of my favorite mediums (Im an avid comic book reader) so I can appreciate the Bionicle comics. However from a general Bionicle fan stand point I believe that the story books were overall better at getting the story across. I will even go as far as to say they also tell the story better than the movies. Now, I am aware that each medium has their own strong point and I think its fair to say they all stand on equal grounds. Obviously the movies will be more entertaining, the books more informative, and the comics visually pleasing. But in my opinion if we are talking Bionicle story the books take the crown. Its such a hard decision to pick which is better for me since I enjoy all, luckily we don't just have to pick one and can do all three
  8. I believe, strictly speaking sets, that there would be a lot of change. As someone mentioned earlier price would be a big one, colors, and even the style and look of Bionicle. For example, excluding Hero Factory is there any other LEGO set out there that does a blend between action figure and interlocking toy? I believe that Bionicle was a result of where the LEGO company was at the time and where the technic line was. I think if you shift the release of Bionicle 10 years later it would have completely changed the concept due to the changes both of those have had since then. Another interesting thing would be the collectible aspect Bionicle had. Im not too familiar with current LEGO lines but do any of you think they would have done promotions like the Golden Hau, Platinum Avohkii, or Sterling Silver Krana? Would todays Lego Sets include something like a silver collectible piece within its packaging?
  9. For those who have experienced this "degrading" of the plastic, can you post the conditions in which the masks have been kept? Do you leave them on the Bionicles posed, or stored among other lego? Are they exposed to direct sunlight often, or to smoke, or even aerosols? What kind of weather conditions do you live in; for example, hot and dry, humid, etc? As Toa_of_Regret mentioned earlier plastics eventually go through a break down process, albeit it usually takes a really really long time, however (and like a lot have mentioned already) there are things that can speed up the processes. As an avid toy collector I know other figures I keep are made of plastics that are more susceptible to things such as sunlight. So just curious as to what conditions the masks are kept in, for those of you who have experienced this.
  10. Wow, these look incredible and a true testament to the community's creativity. Inspires me to want to get up and create something.
  11. Thanks for the smooth and easy sale Toa Lhikan Hordika as everyone else has mentioned before me he ships promptly and is easy to deal with.
  12. Congrats TLH, that's quite the collection. Pretty much have everything that is attainable. And to keep this on topic, does any body know what a good price for the Takutanuva in KittehWubbins post would be? Ive been looking for one recently.
  13. HURRAY! I was actually going to PM you about it but it ended before I could do so.
