  1. Can't believe that it's been this long. To be honest, I believe that JtO is the best animation style that Lego has used for any of its non-website videos/movies. It really hearkens back to the old Hordika Animations (which are really underrated in my opinion). I too was disappointed with how short and rushed they seemed to be - even though season 1 wasn't sped up like season 2 was, it all felt a little bit condensed. Whatever the case may be, it was simultaneously a beautiful and a disappointing thing. Probably more on the beautiful side.

  4. As we've seen in the past, Lego is usually fine with this kind of stuff until money starts changing hands. Because he's not specifically selling a product I think he's fine, but this is still pushing the envelope somewhat.
  5. I like giving Teridax the persona of being "entitled" or "deserving." It's one that isn't often attributed to him, and I'll look forward to where you'll take this in the future.
  6. So like, the other day I was sitting by myself and I remembered that I didn't ever do that squeal to VA that I promised. So instead of going back to Gilead, which I promise I'll get to one of these days, I decided to write this instead. Main topic: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/24141-the-war-of-the-roses/
  7. This tale chronicles the exploits of the Kanohi Force after the conclusion of Vanquished Alliance. Review: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/24142-the-war-of-the-roses-review/ *** Describing it as eerie would simply not suffice. This setting was beyond eerie … almost stomach-churning. The sky was purple with black clouds agitating and swirling around within it. Faint white stars could be spotted through the occasional gap in the clouds, however the did not provide any comfort for those who were there … not that they needed any. The buildings were tannish, designed in what we would know as a Pueblo style on Earth. Purplish mists flew about with the wind. Floating chunks of rubble would occasionally ram into each other in the torrent of chaotic storms overhead. Two beings faced each other in a clearing between two buildings. They were each covered by long flowing robes with hoods over their heads and strange masks covering their faces. “Vainglory,” said the first one with a nod of its head. Vainglory, who was more hunched and withered than the first, nodded back. “I’m sure you know why I am here.” “Yes. Greed has kept me informed,” replied Vainglory. “So what’s your intention in regards to this situation? The gates have been opened by our operative.” “Which one?” “Petewa.” “Ah, the duplicate. Yes, I remember now. Was it not merely a month ago when that happened?” “Correct. We still have an informant in Dimension 3. According to them, the Kanohi Force is marshalling a fleet to try to close off the gates.” “Then we must act quickly.” “Yes. Lust and Sloth have already prepared their fleets, while Wrath and myself are almost finished. Gluttony and Greed are still rebuilding theirs from their recent conquest of Dimension 76.” “So I presume you’ve come to ask for my assistance as well.” “Yes.” “I will do what I can. I will likely not be able to join Lust and Sloth on their first strike, however I will give them some auxiliary.” “Thank you, Vainglory.” “Likewise, Envy.” The taller of the beings disappeared in a cloud of green and black energy. The shorter one, now alone, reached into the pocket of its flowing jacket and pulled out a long gray tendril. At the end on it was a purple rose flower. He held it above his head and muttered a word in a long forgotten tongue. The urbanized landscape in front of him melted away into a flat plain of stone like dust in the wind. An ocean of swirling purple and black energies rushed in from the sky, filling the desolate plain. The waters then separated into several individual pools and lakes, and divided further into a seemingly infinite sequence of tiny puddles. The puddles then began to rise from the ground and took on the shape of humanoid beings. The purple and black swirling mass then hardened into solid features. Before Vainglory was an almost endless army of identical beings. Each was clad in a metallic silver and purple armor, with the crest of the Darkness^Lords implanted on their helmets. They each carried a long rifle with a purple bayonet on the end. “The gate has been opened. We must now walk free from exile,” said Vainglory. “Arise my compatriots, the hour of victory is near. Soon the Darkness^Lords shall fly our mighty banner over all of existence.” The wizened being breathed in a sigh as he willed into being an enormous fleet of starships overhead. They lowered gangways onto the ground, which the newly created soldiers climbed up. Once they were all loaded into their vessels, they turned around and flew into the sky. There were about fifty of them. Once they were out of sight, Vainglory repeated the process. *** Irrie stirred from his sleep. He snatched himself awake and gasped, hitting his head on the underside of the bunk bed on top of him in the process. “It’s coming,” he whispered. He heard Kovika groan and roll over in the bed on top of his. “What are you talking about,” he muttered, half-asleep. “I … uh … hm.” “Go back to sleep, it’s 5 in the morning.” “Yeah. I was just about to do that.” He, however, could not go back to sleep. Something was nagging him, but he didn't know what it was. Or how to make it stop.

    Bara Magna Blues

Kanohi Force Files Entry Name: Bara Magna Blues Written By: Loremaster Irrie Confidentiality: Top Secret - Not to be transmitted through any form of digital communication. Location: Somewhere in Bota Magna, Canon Dimension Time: 5:49pm (17:49) October 18th, 2016 *** Shadow sped back from the boulder and positioned himself behind a large tree. He waited until the group of five Vorox was at the riverbank before he sprinted forward. He used his immense speed to propel himself over his side of the river, landing on the opposite beach with a thud. The Vorox immediately ran towards him. “Who’s that?” one of them shouted. He activated his Kakama again and sped back to the other side of the water. The Vorox fired a blast at him, however he was able to dive back behind the boulder where the others were. It exploded against the trunk of a nearby tree. “Wait for it…” he muttered to them as listened to them wade across the river. It didn’t take them long to cross in the strong current. Clearly they were used to traveling in rough terrain. What none of them expected was for the Vorox to blast the boulder itself, rather than trying to look for the being who was behind it. The huge stone fragmented into countless pieces, sending the six of them flying backwards. Luckily the dust that was created by the explosion took long enough to settle for each of them to stabilize themselves before they saw the silhouettes of the Vorox beginning to emerge. “Now!” shouted Shadow as he sprang forward, closely followed by Jakura, Irrie, Zippo, Loganto, and Kovika. Jakura quickly activated his Hau Nuva to shield the group from the blasters as they ran forward, and then deactivated it to allow for them to engage in melee. They each tackled one of them, while Zippo and Irrie ganged up on the tallest one. Kovika was able to subdue his opponent by using his Huna to confuse him, which let him lay out a series of powerful attacks that knocked him senseless. Jakura knocked his enemy prone in one strike to the head, and was already moving on to the next one. Shadow was able to use his Kakama to deliver a barrage of light blows, eventually being able to launch a powerful kick to his gut, causing its knees to buckle and collapse on the ground. Irrie and Zippo were having a tough time with their opponent because none of their blows were able to penetrate his thick hide. It took Jakura and Kovika’s help to eventually bring him to the ground. Loganto’s enemy had throw him against a tree trunk. The Vorox charged forward with his stinger tail at the ready. It would’ve been the end of him had a white and a dark blue figure not descended the tree he was leaning against. They tackled and pinned the Vorox to the ground, allowing Loganto to regain his footing. That left three Vorox unconscious and two out of commission. Loganto, Irrie, Zippo, and Shadow quickly gathered up the blasters that were strewn about on the ground. “Don’t move,” said Loganto as he trained his blaster at the tallest one that was being pinned by Kovika and Jakura. Once the Vorox realized what was going on, they stopped struggling. Jakura, Kovika, Gelu, and Orde stood up and walked to where the rest of them were standing. The Vorox got up from the ground and sat on their knees. “Who are you, and how did you get into the forest?” asked the shorter one. “That does not concern you,” replied Zippo. “However what we will be doing is rescuing this Toa and Glatorian. We’ll also be escorting the other two Toa in the forest out of here while we’re at it.” The larger one snarled at them, but the shorter shot him a stern look, prompting him to subside. “We cannot allow that to happen,” he said slowly. “We have the guns,” replied Zippo. “This isn’t a request, it’s a coercion.” He didn’t reply. Kovika walked forward and stood behind him. “Don’t try to resist or he’ll shoot,” he said as he rummaged through his backpack. The Vorox looked utterly humiliated as he did this. Kovika then produced a small silver canister with a glowing yellow light at both ends. He dropped it onto the ground and crushed it beneath his foot. He turned around and looked at the river. He pointed his finger at it and conjured a bridge of ice spanning either sides. “Elements are back,” he said. He then created five blocks of ice around each of the Vorox, leaving their heads exposed. “You can come out once the sun melts you. Let’s hope for lots of sun for tomorrow.” The larger Vorox violently cursed as the group of eight walked away. “Thank you for coming to our rescue,” said Orde once they were out of earshot. “Don’t mention it,” replied Zippo, giving him a nod. “Although I must ask, how did you know that we were here?” “We …” “We were captured by the Vorox before you,” interjected Kovika. “They played the same hunting game with us, however we were able to hide in one of the nearby caves long enough for them to give up on the hunt. We’ve been living off the land here for about two weeks or so.” Kovika then realized the mistake of lying to a Toa of Psionics. “You’re not from around here, are you,” he said. “No, we’re not,” Kovika replied. “But please do us a favor and keep it to yourself.” They spent about thirty minutes or so retracing their steps. They eventually arrived at the edge of the forest, where they saw two Vorox tied up to a tree, with a Vo-Toa and a Fe-Toa watching them intently. “Found some friends?” asked Charia. “That seems to be the case,” replied Orde. “They were captured by the Vorox a couple of weeks ago, but they hid out in one of the nearby caves,” he said as he shot a quick glance at Kovika. “Alright then,” said Zaria as he walked forward. “What would your names be?” “I’m Zippo. This is Jakura, Shadow, Kovika, Irrie, and Loganto.” “Well met. I’m Zaria, and this is Chiara.” The Vo-Toa nodded in response. “So where will you folks be headed? The group of six exchanged confused looks. They hadn't actually decided that before coming. “Well … I suppose to where everyone from the old universe is gathering. Could you point us in the right direction?” asked Shadow. Gelu stepped forward and talked for the first time. “Head that way. If any of you are capable trackers you’ll be able to retrace the steps we took. If not, keep walking straight until the forest gives way to desert.” “Thank you, Gelu,” replied Shadow. “No, thank you,” he said. “Best of luck in the future, you Toa.” “Likewise.” The two parties split as each walked in the opposite direction. “Remind me,” said Jakura, “what was the purpose of their mission in the Yesterday Quest, again?” “To find the Great Beings and inform them about the reformation of Spherus Magna and the return of the Matoran universe,” replied Irrie. “Should we have gone with them?” “No. I’d rather take the time to get to participate in the new Matoran society than risk getting killed one our way with them.” They continued walking through the grassland, which eventually gave way to dense woodland. “There was something curious about that device,” Shadow mused aloud. “How was it able to cancel out our elemental energies as well as the Toas’? Our powers are connected to the Wellspring, and aren’t built into us like theirs are.” “Maybe it was able to disrupt our connection to it?” said Loganto. “Maybe. But it would have had to have been designed to do that. And Velika probably didn’t know that our multiverse even existed.” “I suppose we’ll have to find the answers to these as we go along,” replied Zippo. They spent the night in the woods, falling asleep to the strange calls of the fauna of Bota Magna. [End of Log 2]
  17. I like the hunched back. It gives him a sort of "ancient mountain troll" kind of vibe.
  18. Good point. I suppose I'll have to explain that in the following chapters. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it! These chapters will be shorter than the ones I made for VA and others, so my goal is to publish one per day.

    Bara Magna Blues

Review: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/23598-bara-magna-blues-review/ The premise for this story was originally created by fellow BZPower member Zippo, however he entrusted it to me after he became inactive. I have decided to (partially) incorporate it into the Kanohi Force canon. *** Kanohi Force Files Entry Name: Bara Magna Blues Written By: Loremaster Irrie Confidentiality: Top Secret - Not to be transmitted through any form of digital communication. Location: Sandstone Hills, Bz-Nui, Dimension 3 Time: 5:34pm (17:34) October 18th, 2016 Irrie lowered the tinted visor over his Kanohi Kaukau as he observed the bright desert landscape in front of him. In the distance was a lone pillar of sandstone, a normally common sight in this part of the island. Seldom did people venture out here. Although the Sandstone Hills did feature some unique rock formations that attracted tourists, most of the visits only occurred during the spring or summer. Now it was autumn, and it seemed that Irrie and his friends were the only ones out there. Which was good for them. “This way,” muttered their guide. His name was Zippo. He was a tall and lanky individual clad in a sweeping brown cloak that obscured most of his body. Over his head was a brown paper bag with two eye holes cut out. He didn’t want to risk anyone spotting him. Next to Irrie walked four of his associates: Jakura, Loganto, Kovika, and Shadow. They didn’t talk much on their way there, mostly because they were all thirsty from the hot desert sun, but also because they were deep within their thoughts about what they might discover on the other side. Zippo lead them to a small cave located on the side of the pillar. They each had to duck their heads in order to enter. Their guide lead them to the center of the sandstone formation, where a small green pad was located with a screen built into the side. Zippo knelt down and began pushing buttons that appeared onto the screen. After a few moments, he turned around and nodded. “As we’ve discussed before, the only record of this journey should be within Irrie’s lore book,” he said. “If the higher ups find out about this, you can bet your masks we’ll be hit with the banhammer so hard we’ll fly all the way back to Earth.” “He’s right,” said Shadow. “If anyone wants to back out, say so now.” Silence answered him. “Very well. Who would like to go first?” Silence once again. “I guess that means I’ll do it,” said Zippo. “This is my project after all.” “No, you need to be the last to live in order to stabilize the machine in case something malfunctions while we’re teleporting,” pointed out Kovika. “I’ll do it,” grumbled Jakura. The red-armored warrior shouldered his way to the front of the group. When Zippo gave him the nod, he stepped onto the pad and faded from existence. After him went Shadow, Irrie, Kovika, Loganto, and finally Zippo. When they materialized into the new world, they found themselves in a forest next to a running river. Kovika pulled up a communicator device that he had attached to his wrist. “Just sent Ouberry the message that we’ve made it safely here,” he said. “He’ll relay it to the rest of the Kanohi Force once he’s been able to convert it to the right file format.” “Good,” replied Shadow. “Make sure that once he’s done that to -” “Quiet!” hissed Zippo as he motioned for them to crouch down behind a group of ferns. Loganto raised his head and activated the scope on his mask. “Hold on … I see something. It’s coming towards us.” The group crawled back about five feet and hid behind a large rock protruding from the forest floor. They heard the footsteps of the beings that were approaching. A purple armored Toa and a white armored being appeared on the river bank. They jumped into the river and started crossing. The white one was about to go all the way, but the purple one stopped him. “They’ll spot our tracks on the opposite bank. But not if we go up.” The white one smiled in agreement. They reached out to a low-hanging branch that grew over the stream. The purple one boosted the white one into the tree, and he then helped his friend follow. “Good thinking, Orde.” “Thanks, Gelu.” These words stung the six who were hiding behind the rock like Rama bites. Kovika waited until they had climbed out of sight and then turned to Zippo. “When we asked to be teleported into the canon, we didn’t mean dropping us off directly where it ended,” he whispered. “I had no alternative,” he replied. “I can’t explain now, but it has to do with how the machine was set up.” “Hang on,” said Loganto. “I need to try something.” He peered from behind the rock and pointed his hand at one of the ferns. Nothing happened. “Yep, that means we’ve turned up right where The Yesterday Quest ended: with a pack of Vorox chasing us down,” he reported. “And our elemental powers don’t work.” Shadow looked around the edge of the rock. He saw a group of green-armored Vorox carrying blasters approaching. “I suppose our masks and weapons will have to suffice,” he said as his Kakama began to vibrate. “I’ll lure them over here. Once they’re within melee distance, spring them and hope you don’t get shot.” He disappeared in a heartbeat. [End of Log 1]
