  1. IC: Morphos

Morphos speaks up, asking, "What's so special about Mekron and Antropolis that you think there will be information on the Star Whale there?  I imagine one of them was the ship's destination, but what about the other one?"

  2. IC: Night Stalker

Seeing that Corroder had the guards attention for the moment, Night Stalker threw the shield like a frisbee, aiming for the guard farthest away.  Then, dropping his hammer, he picked up one of the guards and heaved him over his head, hurling him at a guard who was about to shoot Corroder.  Grabbing his hammer, he again charged forwards towards the remaining robots.

  3. GM IC: Prison Guards - Penitentiary 1331.

The guards of Penitentiary 1331 were no pushovers. They'd endured riots, thwarted attempted breakouts, defended against attempted break-ins, but their shields and experience were little use against the heightened force of Night Stalker's hammer.

The villain's weapon collided squarely with the interlocked shields, scattering them, and the guards holding them, like leaves in the breeze. When the cries faded, and the limbs stopped flailing, two of the guards lay prone, disabled or dead, while the others slowly picked themselves up off the floor. The six rifle-toting guards, who'd been standing back behind the others, now saw their opportunity, and opened fire at Night Stalker's face and chest with their stun weapons.

    IC: Night Stalker

Night Stalker promptly dropped to the floor and grabbed one of the shields, using it to shield himself from the majority of the shots.  However, the nature of stun shots meant that they could hit him anywhere and he would still feel the effects, meaning he was beginning to feel a bit woozy.  "Why don't you lazy ##### get up and help before you end up having to carry me out?" He shouts to the other villains as he lunges forward, trying to hit one of the guards.

  4. GM IC: Black Phantom/Prison Guards - Penitentiary 1331.

"Through them," Phantom replied, indicating the group of guards gathered at the end of the corridor.

Seeing that their shots were proving largely ineffectual in halting Night Stalker's charge, the gun-toting guards stepped back, letting their shield-wielding friends form up in front of them. The six robots interlocked their shields and braced themselves for impact.

    IC: Night Stalker

Night Stalker doesn't stop charging until he is almost on top of the guards, at which point he swings his hammer in a full circle around him, the hammer hitting the blockade with double the force from the turn and double the momentum of a several ton robot at top speed.

  5.

That's a fair enough analysis. I guess everyone has to have some sort of weakness...

I can't help but notice you haven't really addressed Vestak's original question, which was if Var's totally-not-just-a-lightsaber would have the same difficulty cutting through thicker, stronger metals as a canon lightsaber does.

Not even just that.  I just don't want a repeat of that fight where a hero, who's only special ability was his weapon, chopped up one of the most heavily armored villains in this RPG like his armor was tissue paper.  Var is vastly more powerful than a hero, and if her sword treats Night Stalker's armor like Gorn's then she is quite OP.

Also, unrelated question.  When Sapphire goes fast does her processors and sensors and stuff work faster or just operate at normal levels?

  6. That's a fair enough analysis. I guess everyone has to have some sort of weakness...

Night Stalker's weakness is the fact that, as a tank, he's slow and not very good at dodging.  Var's lightsaber, on the other hand, is a weapon that can literally cut through any non-energy defense and maybe even some of those.  That means that, should she get close enough to her opponent, and with extreme agility and limited telekinesis that should be incredibly simple, she has the potential to butcher most of the RPCs in this game with incredible ease.

  7. A containment field that extends out of the handle in a closed tube shape holds inside it a mass of plasma. The containment field can be strengthened or weakened to increase or decrease the plasma's interactivity with its surrounding environment, essentially allowing it to cut through things simply through intense heat interaction. Stronger field enclosure allows even less interactivity, which can be used to non-lethally subdue opponents. The containment field works both ways, which allows it to deflect energy blasts if the wielder has a quick enough reaction time and sufficient body speed.

Does that suffice to explain the basics of the plasma sword?

Thanks, but I was more asking for a description of his abilities relating to this RPG, as in how effective it would be at cutting through various robots from Night Stalker to your standard hero.

And I'm pretty sure that if Night Stalker had energy plating in addition to the rest of his abilities and equipment he'd never get approved.

  8. I'd like to know the specs on Var's sword.  Night Stalker, my heavy armored tank villain, fought a hero with a laser sword and said sword sliced through his armor like a hot knife through butter.  While I understand lightsabers are able to cut through most things with extreme ease they're very OP and won't end well.  I just want to clarify that this lightsaber goes through metal like how Qui-Gon's did cutting through the blast door in Episode 1 as opposed to battle droids.

  9. IC: Night Stalker

"It would be my pleasure." Night Stalker growled as he raises his hammer, holding the massive head in front of him as he breaks into a run, roaring at the top of his voice while his hammer and what parts of his thick armor are exposed easily take the incoming barrage of stun bolts.

  10.

    IC: Kavok Quake

    "Oh that little event. Impressive...."

    He paused a minute

    "Your wish is my command"

    GM IC: Black Phantom/Corrodor - Penitentiary 1331.

Well... that was easy... While Black Phantom was remarking on this fact, Corrodor bounded back into view, laden with Kavok Quake's and Night Stalker's confiscated weaponry and equipment. The ammo had been taken away, of course, but Black Phantom had secured a supply of the duo's preferred projectiles in the hold of his ship. Assuming the pair didn't try to betray him before they'd even left the prison, he'd give them access to the ammo once they were safely on board the ship and en-route to their destination.

"Corrodor, if you will," he took a step back from the cells, making room for Corrodor to open the cells with a few careful blasts of his signature acid. "Now, I believe these belong to you," he gestured to the pile of equipment that Corrodor had dumped before the two former prisoner's cells.

    IC: Night Stalker

Night Stalker steps out of the cell and grabs his weapons, sliding his arm into the tri-blaster and grabbing his hammer with his other hand.  He swings his hammer in a powerful backhand, completely removing the remains of the front wall of his cell from their foundations.  "I've wanted to do that for a long time."  He looks up again at Black Phantom and says, "They disabled my camo armor and radar.  You wouldn't happen to have some sort of repair bay on board your ship, would you?"

GM IC: Voltix - Eclipse Station, Tier 3.

Once his announcement had accumulated a decent number of turnouts, Voltix gestured grandly to the gathered gang of villains and thugs, "Follow me, and I'll tell you all about the task that lies before us," with that, he dropped down off his makeshift stand and wandered into the nearest bar, the handful of patrons inside quickly scampering out of the building when Voltix entered.

GM IC: Zib - Hero Factory Mission Control.

"Is that everyone?" Zib asked uncertainly, looking over the gathered group of heroes that had made their way into Mission Control. Given the current state of affairs, communications was something of a mess at the moment, and it was difficult to tell who'd been able to pick up his message, and who hadn't.

    _________________________________________________________________

OOC: I'm a little unsure as to which characters have actually arrived, and which ones are still on their way, so I'll hold off on starting the actual mission briefings for a while longer.

    IC: Morphos

Morphos quickly follows, taking a seat at the bar.

IC: Ruby enters mission control and heads over to the assembly of heroes surrounding zib.  Good, looks like they haven't started yet.

  11. GM IC: Black Phantom/Corrodor - Penitentiary 1331.

"No such thing as gratitude in this galaxy anymore," Corrodor hissed, "I told you this was a waste of time."

"Patience, my prickly friend," although his voice was calm, the way he brandished his mace made it very clear that Black Phantom wouldn't tolerate any further snideness. He turned his attention back to the two prisoners. "The reason we came here, to find you two in particular, is a simple one - no one else is going to come for you. However brief it might've been, you were both associated with the villain responsible for the destruction of Hero Factory. A villain who made a lot of enemies, not just with law enforcement, but among us villains as well. He wasn't much of a team player."

"And since he's gone, there's a whole lot of cranky criminals out there looking for someone to vent their anger on," Corrodor snickered, "Starting with anyone who worked with him."

"You help us with this task, and we'll put in a good word for you in the galactic underground," Black Phantom pressed, "You'll be free from persecution, and of course, you'll both be free to help yourselves to any loot you happen across during our little escapade. And believe me, there's plenty of plunder on offer."

    IC: Night Stalker

Night Stalker sighed inwardly, not letting it show.  He knew Traeferous had had enemies, but this was another level.  "I'll do it." He said after a brief pause.  "But I'll still need my weapons.  That is, if you want to hire me at my best."

  12. IC: Night Stalker

"You didn't just wander in here and open every cage but ours on a whim.  You're here because you need something badly.  With all the resources it takes to break in here, what I asked for should barely skim the surface of your pockets.  It also makes your trip here mostly successful, depending on what Kavok says.  All in all it's a bargain for you."

  13. IC: Ruby

Priority 1?  While Ruby always liked action and adventure, priority 1 meant something bad either happened or was about to.  She hoped the later as she hurried to the factory.

    IC: Morphos

Morphos looked up at the screen as Voltix's message was played across it.  Here was the opportunity he had been waiting for.  A chance to make a few bucks, boost his rep, and maybe have some fun along the way.  He joined the growing stream of beings and robots who began moving towards Voltix.  He almost laughed at the thought of these pathetic junk heaps even thinking they had a chance at making it onto Voltix's team.

    IC: Night Stalker

Night Stalker stands up and steps forward, allowing Corroder to see him clearly, all ten feet of heavily armored machinery.  He does not acknowledge Corroder, instead he answers Black Phantom.  "My price is freedom, my weapons, enough money to buy a decent ship and stay out of the Factory's grasp after the job is done, and the skills to pilot said ship."

  14. Oh my, look at all of these people rolling up to watch Thumper's wrestling match.

Wouldn't it be an absolute shame if something went horrifically wrong during the fight...  :evilmad:

This coming from the guy with a username "The Good Guys."  :P

  15. I understand all of that.  This is however the only thing I can think of that would get Night Stalker out sooner rather than later.  Plus, we don't know exactly what happened on Mechna.  Maybe there was an attack on the Heroes' ship, freeing the villains inside.

  16. IC: Ruby

Ruby ran down the street, mostly at normal speed, towards Weaver's location.  She looked up to the powerful hero, both for her fighting prowess and her friendliness.  Not everyone with that much power and skill stayed friendly, especially not to rookies like her.  She glanced at her power levels and saw she was still nearly full, as she had just charged up before Zib's call went out.  She decided to put on a little burst of speed, blazing down the road in an attempt to get to Weaver faster.

  17. Seeing as most robots would have those areas covered to allow them to not short out in water: probably not, sorry. An armour breach would be required, like we said.

Also, something to consider: Kavok Quake was in prison the last time he was seen. Similar to the other villain involved in the attack on the police station, Night Stalker, he'd also have quite a lengthy sentence- mass murder isn't exactly something to be brushed off. Now, I get that's an issue- naturally you want to play as your character- so if you'd like you can pitch how he's escaped the prison. But remember: canonically, he was taken to prison, handed over, and locked up. He wouldn't be escaping from the Hero who captured him, he'd have to get out of the prison itself.

I completely forgot about that detail, sorry. But, while I'm here, it's also going to apply to Night Stalker. He's mentioned a reduced sentence, but I get the feeling that mass murder doesn't get much of a reduction, even with good behaviour. He's also voiced a want to do good, so it'll be a bit trickier to get him out of prison, but hey.

Sorry, guys. I know you want to play with them, and I don't want to stop you, but, uh... they did shoot up a police station. And then, in Night Stalker's case, go on to kill more people on a public street. You're gonna have to work around that. Like with Heroes, Villain actions also have consequences.

I had an idea to make the reduced prison sentence plausible.  We just leave it up to the giant unknown that is the Mechna mission.  Night Stalker did something during that time that got him a lighter sentence.  However, it would not be very short.  Like you said, shooting up a police station isn't exactly water under the bridge  How short a time do you think would be plausible, in the most extreme case?

  18. IC: Ruby

Ruby was relaxing in her apartment when the notice from Zib went out.  She wasn't on duty, but her apartment was near the action.  She decided she'd better call Zib about it.  "Zib, this is Ruby.  You need me to help?"

  19. IC: Night Stalker

The prison cell Night Stalker occupied on Tantalus 5 wasn't particularly bad.  Not that it was good, as it was still, after all, a prison cell, but it was definitely more comfortable than some of the others he had occupied over the years.  That was probably given his cooperation in court.  For that cooperation he had been given a lighter sentence, and his desire to end his life of crime and start over as an honest citizen had kept him from behaving poorly.  He hoped that he would get an early parole, although he had yet to hear of anything along those lines for himself.  All in all, things could be much worse.

Night Stalker settled onto his bunk, still trying to come up with a new name for himself.  It was a reminder of his previous life, something he no longer wanted to remember.  Not to mention it wasn't very friendly, which is something he wanted to change.

  20. @Vestak: I was also going to mention you separating weapons and abilities into two separate parts, but a lot of people do that and it doesn't bother me at all so I'm very happy for you to leave it as is. As for getting rid of things... I'm not entirely sure. Some of the weapons, definitely; he's got a lot of powers, and they're pretty cool, so the weapons feel like they'd be easiest to do without without changing the character too much. Maybe the ability to make spikes out of himself (that's what I meant by summoning weapons)? I read that as he can fire metal spikes as projectiles the first time around, which sounds like something that would cause him to run out of metal pretty quickly, but on reflection that could have just meant he can just extend spikes from himself, which is better. I'd also specify that the shapeshifting wouldn't change his armour colours- unless it does, of course. Sorry about the vagueness, a lot of his powers make sense for his metal skin thingy, so I don't wanna mess with it too much, and honestly it's your character so you might be attached to some things more than others so I don't want to accidentally make you remove the stuff you like the most. I'd recommend just tossing some of the weapons- I remember there being one big rocket, which I'd personally get rid of purely because carrying an explosive in your chest cavity sounds like a bad idea at the best of times.

As an unrelated to approvals aside: how fast can he shift his metal around?

I can get rid of the missile.  I saw that as a last resort kind of thing, but it's probably the thing I'm least attached to.

He can shift his metal fairly quickly.  His most common forms take almost no time at all, a few seconds at most.  If he has a picture or a replica to look at, it will take a bit longer, say 10 to 15 seconds depending on complexity.  If he's making it up on the spot, it'd be around 45 seconds, increasing dramatically with complexity.

He actually can change color, although it's very limited.  His metal exists in three colors; silver, metalic green, and gunmetal. Changing to one solid color doesn't take very long.  If he wants more than one color, say as highlights, logos, etc, it takes a lot longer.

I'll go edit this into his profile.

  21. Night Stalker is approved (3/3). However, as Nato mentioned, keep in mind what you've put in the profile, especially in terms of the strength of the acid!

Morphos is the one with the profile layout issues. There are three kinds of profile- Hero (Hero-model robot made by Hero Factory, serving the forces of good at Hero Factory), Villain (lawbreaker, to put it simply), and Civilian (everyone else). "Himself" is not a character profile type- Morphos, from the sounds of it, would be a Villain-type. Also, he has a lot of weapons and powers- from a quick glance I can see quick healing, summoning weapons out of himself, limited shapeshifting, and a whole arsenal of weapons. Some of these powers are limited, but I'm still unsure about the sheer amount of powers and weapons.

    Ruby approved (3/3).

Oh that's what you meant.  Yes, he's a villain.  I'll fix that.  The summoning weapons out of himself makes it sound over powered.  All it really is is concealing his weapons from visual detection.  Any scan would find it instantly.  As for weapons and powers, yes, there are a lot.  What should I get rid of?
