  1. I haven't see the end of Journey to One...I'm sure it definitively says that G2 is over, maybe there's a chance G3 could happen a few years down the road? What I'm hoping to see now is a continuation of Hero Factory (don't hate me!). Personally, there were things about Hero Factory that I thought LEGO handled better than they did with Bionicle G2. Hero Factory at the very least wasn't afraid to take chances and try crazy things every year. G2 just felt...safe, and really lacked any really innovative approaches to the story. I'd like them to finally finish off the Von Nebula arc too. If BIONICLE does come back, I think it would be better if it was exclusively a video game series. That would be way fun, and LEGO seems to have a lot of success with those. Maybe a Spherus Magna adventure where you build your own Toa! Yeah, that'd be great.
  2. I had a really detailed idea of what it should be like, back in 2013 I made it up. New island, new "big secret", new villains, new heroes, but similar connecting points (Kanohi, elemental themed heroes, Great Beings, possibly protodermis). 5 heroes, not 6. It was a good idea: more connected to G1, but with fewer common characters- the new guys would have been the driving force behind this generation.
  3. So what sources are considered Canon, and which are not? Does some Canon supercede other forms of Canon? Are there some elements of Non-Canon material that are Canon, even if the whole thing is not? There should be an official topic on this.
  4. He's not allowed to discuss future plot points, in his own words. Technically this is a past plot point, though I heard that Greg got tired of answering questions because people didn't always like his answers, so he might not answer it anyway :\
  5. Strange, you'd expect Makuta to be the one with the limited imagination since he created the mask of ultimate power because everyone hated his plain masks, yet the villager & protector masks all fit Makuta's style of simple looking masks. They're probably his. Maybe while Ekimu was asleep, most folks lost their Ekimu-made masks and had to resort to wearing Makuta's more minimalist masks. Y'know, this makes sense.
  6. ...then why do most of the masks on Okoto look the same?
  7. I Think a time travel plotline would be cool to see. I mean, we have another mask of time, right? Maybe we could go to the past/future of Okoto, and have some major plot twists going on? Back story: at the end of 2017, Makuta loses, but is still "out there", plotting revenge. Ekimu has a vision via the upper Vahi of the future and the past, about a coming calamity. Somehow, they get the lower half of the Vahi. Tahu: ...where did you get that? Ekimu: A good question... for another time. Tahu: >:I This allows them to open time portals, to save the island from evil. yada yada yada. Sets: 6 little guys- the mask makers (besides Ekimu and Makuta), each with a different awesome mask. 3 are in the future, 3 in the past. Winter wave: (past) 3 Toa, 4 villains -Pohatu, Gali, Lewa, all Cavemanned up, ready to fight... -Dinosaur based villains! Velociraptor, Pterosaur, and Mosasaur based baddies. Plus, we find out that the MoUP is really possessed by an evil Spirit, and the boss of the dinosaur villains is the one whose ghost inhabits it... he's not a Dino himself. More like a Witch Doctor type character (who was AMAZING by the way). He's the ultimate baddy- like the Sidious of Bionicle. The Toa have a win, but "Sidious" gets away... Summer: (future) 4 heroes, 4 villains -Tahu, Onua, and Kopaka, looking like they belong in a crossover between Tron and Bladerunner, all neoned up, vs... -Shadow Cyborgs! Techno villains with advanced weaponry who utilize the power of Shadow, led by... -Makuta! of this dystopian Future, in which he has won. However, he has met some resistance from... -The Toa of Time: Takanuva. This kick-starts the 3 year time travel story arc, which will be so confusing Bionicle will lose all of its fanbase, but it will be awesome, so yeah.
  8. The traits from the board game seem like they were written when the Toa were enemies to each other. That was the original concept: who could get the masks first: every Toa for himself.
  9. I like the idea. I think it's cool that a village may have multiple elements represented, especially when their terrain overlaps. I don't think Kapura is a Av-Matoran though. I read somewhere once that he had some sort of accident with a teleportation disc in Metru-Nui, which would explain his powers. Whether it was a fan theory or in-canon, I think it made sense to me. Taipu I figured was a Po-Matoran who just liked living underground so he switched villages...maybe. Or he had Po-Matoran ancestry, but Matoran don't reproduce...so I don't know what to believe anymore For Onepu's Purple, that has a pretty easy explanation: he *obviously* got the purple mask and shoes from Vo-Koro, the city of Voriki, who is *definitely* canon maybe.
  10. May I weigh in? I think a G1 connection with the mask would be smart. The upper half Vahi seems to confirm the TTV rumor from before 2015's release. I've been following Bionicle for this long, it's be nice if there was some sort of payoff, and seeing a Mask of Time at it's full potential would be worth the wait. I think, if this won't fit into G2, a Mask of Time plotline would fit well into G3, with the Vahi being the constant through all generations, somehow connecting them. If they've planned this early on, a time travel element could be very smart. My Theory: When the G2 Vahi is combined with the G1 Vahi, it gains the power of time travel. The ultimate power of time (which I was very disappointed the G1 Vahi never had). Either this will be worked into G2 (and if they're smart, they'll have planned an awesome time travel twist from the start), or LEGO is thinking much more long term, and a time travel element *should* be present in G3. Going with that, I wonder just how long term LEGO is thinking with Bionicle. G1 was planned for 8 years, and went for 9. I wonder if they're not only planning for a continuation of G2, but also an inevitable G3...
  11. I like that the story is a bit looser, really. I think they took some of the good elements from Hero Factory in this new generation: a tighter cast, a looser story. I feel it leaves more room for you to do the world building. Though I don't follow the books or comics, so I don't have the full picture either.
  12. Some people on here say that Earth: loose, moist soil. But in MoL:The Movie, Onua hoists aloft a bunch of BOULDERS to crush some Rahkshi (at the Kini Nui scene). This calls into question the validity of some canonical sources: is Greg wrong in asserting that Earth is limited to loose moist soil? Or is MoL non-canon? There is also some point (in one of the books) where Whenua seals off a tunnel to protect himself from a Rahkshi. If he seals off this tunnel with loose, moist, soil, it would seem pretty useless in stopping a servant of Makuta. An interesting thing to note too is that in some early bio information, it was said that Pohatu could turn earth into stone (Onua however does not have the reverse ability), denoting there is a difference- though what that is seems pretty arbitrary and unclear. I think we can agree that the canon is actually incredibly contradictory on the difference between Stone and Earth. Greg may have said one thing, but canonical sources seem to indicate other things. At the end of the day, it's really not that big of a deal: I feel life the rules of Bionicle are more relaxed than hard and fixed like we want them to be. Ultimately, we have to remember that the BIONICLE story, as amazing as it is, really only exists to promote the toys. Of course they don't explain the difference between Stone and Earth: kids intuitively know the difference. Just ask your 8-12 year-old self, or any kid who likes BIONICLE, and they will give you a lengthy dissertation about what powers come with each element. And since the canon contradicts itself so much, they'll probably be right (and wrong at the same time).
  13. Seeing them close up, I forgive the clunky look of the beasts in light of their experimental designs. If there's one thing G2 Bionicles have in common with G1, it's the boldness to try new things.
  14. What if the big secret is that there is no big secret? That would be surprising, though in a much less satisfying way.
  15. I'm not liking the Summer Wave as much as I thought I would... Considering the Uniters look FANTASTIC and are a definite upgrade with a cohesive feel to them, I was expecting more, but the Villains leave a lot to be desired. The beasts look clumsy, and don't look like worthy adversaries for the Toa - even if they come in hordes in the story-line, like Bohrok, I still can't get over the awkward look of them. Still, it may just be the angle, so we'll see what features they have as the year goes on. I do like the look of Umarak the Destroyer. He makes for a threatening villain. The only complaint I have is story-wise. I think they missed an opportunity to add another villain to the G2 canon, and in a way making Umarak transform into a brute takes away from the image of the skilled, calculated poacher/warrior that I found so interesting (sort of like an evil version of the Hydraxon character). The set is great, but I wish it had been a new villain character instead- the G2 Toa need more worthy foes. It looks to me like Ekimu is being set up as the "Seventh Toa", a sort of Dume/Takanuva/Mata-Nui hybrid character (in terms of the role he plays in the story). Story-wise, I like this. I was a little worried that the eventual clash between Makuta and Ekimu would be between two Protectors, so I'm glad to see that we may see a Toa-Sized (maybe even Titan-sized) battle between the two brothers next year. Again, I have reservations about the design. Though he is among the best of the Summer wave, next to Umarak Part II, I find that his design is not as interesting, innovative, or cohesive as the Uniters. Again, perhaps the angle is wrong, but from the image his shoulder armor looks like it's not really fitting with the rest of the design. Sadly, his Protector sized form had a greater aesthetic appeal to me. And, though I know that the gimmick with G2 is for every set to have unique masks, I wish they had included a golden MoC with the set. The over-use of trans-blue doesn't appeal. I wish the older formula would return, where six villains clash against six Toa. I suppose the emphasis is meant to be on the Toa, but what good is a hero without a threatening villain to face? This year is very lacking in that department. Here's hoping next year ups its game with the baddies, and gives our heroes a real run for their money. EDIT: Y'know, the more I look at Ekimu, the more he grows on me. The Trans blue is OK, and the shoulder armour isn't as bad as I thought either. Those legs though...I dunno if LEGO is trying to save plastic or what, but they could be covered just a little bit more.
  16. Based on the design we're seeing so far, here's what sort of villains I think we might see for the summer wave (assuming they have the 5-set pattern again). Four of them will most likely be beasts of some kind, akin to the monsters from the Jungle Planet year of Hero Factory. Either that, or bestial hunters/poachers like Umarak. (maybe the Voodoo Brothers will make an appearance) Most likely, we will be seeing a Makuta set. Personally, I think it since Umarak has the MoC, the Makuta set would have the MoUP. I think the 3rd year may actually revolve around the Mask of Time, with this year finishing off the three main masks. It'l be interesting to see the summer wave- I can't wait!
  17. The masters' masks are the masks of their respective elements. But what do they do? are they the source of their power? Are they powerless without them, both elementally and otherwise? What about the Golden masks? Is it just like going from "olda" to "nuva", like it's just a power level upgrade? And if the masks are the source of elemental powers, then what happens if, say, Tahu wears the Mask of Ice. Would it work for him? Or does that mask work only for one person? What about Protector masks? Are they basically turaga-level elemental power masks? And, here's the one that confuses me the most, what does the Mask of Creation do? When Kulta wore it, all he did was smash the Toa. Doe sit actually help you create stuff? Is it more like the G1 version of Artakha's mask then? But then it also makes you stronger, meaning that even people who aren't the owners of the masks can use them... And what does the Mask of control do? Is it like a high-powered Komau? I guess this should be more straightforward, but it must have gone over my head. Can you guys sum it up?
  18. I don't know how close this runs to being against guidelines, but as long as everyone else is cool with their comments, I think it should work out. OK: so the protectors went to the Temple of Time, and presumably using the Mask of Time or something, send their "prayers to the heavens". G2's protectors "prayer" could be a few things: 1) Just a euphemism- maybe it's just their hopes their sending to the heavens -- "prayers" just being a symbol of that? 2) There's someone up there! That lightning-bolt/laser that shot into space may have been carrying a message- perhaps another as-of-yet unknown character who organized the Toa and shot them to Okoto. A G2 equivalent of a Great Being, or GSR perhaps? 3) The communication was to the Toa themselves, to come and save Okoto- Which of course begs the question of where they were in space to begin with- and were they conscious enough to get it? Thus, was coming to Okoto a conscious decision the Toa made, or was it another unconscious-in-the-canister-and-it-just-got-launched-automatically scenario? And, if conscious, what were they doing on the world(s) they came from? Geez, just one line in an internet cartoon gives ya a lot to think about, huh?
  19. Hmm...guess that works. Still wonder though- it'd be cool if there was a connection, as I've always really wondered about how the Nuva symbols worked, and just hoping this might shed more light on their relation to the toa
  20. This is my headcanon: Plasma: Living in barren deserts, with hellish heat and blinding sunlight. Sort of like a cross between Tatooine and the surface of the planet Mercury. They live in small stone huts for when the heat gets too hot even for them. Gravity: Since their purpose would be to ensure the artificial gravity works inside of Mata-Nui, I imagined they lived in caves that led into the interior of the MU- the "behind the scenes" if you will. In these caves, there are artificial gravity generators that let you walk up the cave walls, up to the ceiling, where the villages are located to avoid discovery. This is important, because the artificial gravity in the GSR is vital to the stability of life within it. Also, because of their vital role, Gravity Matoran have more of an understanding of what exactly the MU is, and thus keep themselves secluded to guard the secret. This is why we never hear about them in the main canon. Magnetism: These Matoran live near Iron Matoran, (as they find themselves very attracted to them for some reason...) They are also vital to the stability of the MU as well, though they have less of an idea about the "big secret" than the Gravity Matoran. They live in villages, close to Iron Matoran, whom they have good friendships with. However, unlike the Iron Matoran, they do not live in metal cities. Would you like it if you always got stuck to the walls of your house? Lightning: They live on the tops of mountains, always clamoring for the next big storm. When they hear thunder, all the matoran rush outside and wave their metal rods into the sky, hoping to catch a lightning bolt. They are generally very docile, but get restless very easily. They also have a lot of dormant potential and power. When the right moment comes - BANG! - you won't even know what hit you. The Green: Swamps and jungles, living in places that even a Le-Matoran wouldn't dare touch. You wouldn't recognize their villages until you were right on top of them - they keep them very well camouflaged to hide from predatory Rahi. Sonics: Sonic matoran live in very quiet areas. Loud noises bother them. You may find them in quiet valleys, the clearings of forests, basically any place that a Hobbit would also call home. They're also not very fond of adventures either. What a headache those would give them! Iron: Iron matoran are very ambitious, always leading the matoran world in technology. They live just about anywhere they can. The more impractical and difficult it would be to settle a location, the more attractive it is to them. Forget villages: these matoran build full-fledged cities. It's said that they planned the blueprints for Metru-Nui itself. Their cities are dominated by skyscrapers. They are also the most social of matoran, and know how to network- they tend to have strong relations with Vo, Ta, and Onu matoran. After all, if you're working with Iron, you need matoran to mine, smelt, and power your creations. Unfortunately, their ambition can get the best of them, sometimes for the worst. Because they are master weapon makers, they have attracted the attention of the Vortixx and certain Dark Hunters and Makuta. This puts them in the precarious situation of trying their best to improve life for their fellow matoran, but also trying to stay on the good side of these villains. And they can't complain too much- at least the Vortixx and Dark Hunters pay well... Psionics: These matoran love seeking after wisdom, thought, and have a strong connection to the "spiritual" side of the MU. They are masters of epic poetry, and love to impart their wisdom to others. They have magnificent golden cities, built among the mountains where the sun rises. Spires of majestic temples pierce the sky. Anyone who enters their cities comes out with new eyes, seeing the world in a new light. Their domain is the Shangri-La of the MU. However, the Great Beings knew that such powers of the mind, and the knowledge and wisdom they possessed, would destroy the universe if put into the wrong hands. Many of their turaga, for instance, have such a strong connection to the mind of Mata-Nui, that they have also discovered "the big secret". Their cities are inaccessible to matoran - few have ever visited them - and their matoran are rarely seen outside of them, though rumours say there is a small colony in the domain of Artakha... Light: They live amongst all types of matoran, to stay out of sight from the Makuta. However, their homeland was one of grand mountains, dry deserts, wet streams, lush forests. and sweeping plains. They had industrious but modest villages. Humble and peaceful, they were a matoran that all other tribes looked up to and respected. However, since the growing threat of the Makuta, many have become scattered - both by choice, and by direction of the Order of Mata-Nui - to escape extinction from the sadistic Makuta. Now, only a few small settlements of light villages can be found. There you go! That took entirely too long to write out. But I rather like my neat view of the MU.
  21. Y'know how the Nuva symbols keep showing up in the artwork on the facebook page? It makes you wonder - is it just an easter egg? or will the Nuva symbols become important again? Do NOT discuss leaked content. -B6 Just another easter egg? I don't think so. Could it be that the Nuva symbol connection might answer why the G1 Toa had a connection to their Nuva Symbols? And perhaps might answer the questions of the origins of the Okoto Toa? Are they the same toa? fused to their symbols? Thoughts- what's the connection?
  22. With an undercurrent of "time" playing an important role, I think it would be cool to stay on Okoto, but visit different time periods on the island - think of it: the Toa could go to prehistoric Okoto, and we'd finally get BIONICLE dinosaurs! Then they could travel to a Metru-Nui-esque future Okoto, and save it from an apocalypse or something. This would all happen after the Creation/Control/Ultimate-Power Mask "Trilogy". It's something that's never been done before, and I think it would be a great way to get the most out Okoto. Either that, or make an unknown BIONICLE mainland-continent the stage of conflict. Or, maybe visit one of those moons in the sky. BIONICLE in space would be cool, just as long as they keep in in the solar system. I feel like the reboot has a lot of room to play around in.
  23. Has anyone heard any more about the "half-Vahi" theory? TTV talks about it here on their podcast. Basically, some LEGO guy apparently said the original Vahi was only half of a mask, and implied that maybe the Okoto people have the other half? Is this theory canon, or at the very least, not disproven? Is it still possible? or has Lego put more info forward that gives a new perspective on the G1 Vahi, and the G2 Mask of Time?
