  1. One thing I'm liking is the prices! Based on the Euro pricing, I was thinking the skull villains would be $20 each, with the VS set at $40, so I'm glad that I was wrong there! One thing I'm not sure of...is 'Kimu's hammer also a six shooter? That seems kind of dumb to me, considering he already has a gear function (though I'm not sure that 2 friction gears are necessary). But then again, I've yet to actually try a six shooter, so maybe this is actually a pro. Interesting to note is the backround on the Skull Warrior's box art. It seems the Toa are up against "swarms" of villains again! Here's hoping too that the villains skull-masks get some sort of canonized power. (Heck, even the villagers get mask powers this time around- they better not skimp on the baddies!)
  2. So this is where the rest of the Bionicle budget went...meh. Honestly, I don't get why the price is getting so high on constraction figures. If they were only a bit smaller it wouldn't make much difference to the overall play experience.
  3. Huh, weird. I guess it was just coincidence then,...since LEGO actually WAS working on it back then! So the Hacker was right! Even if he didn't mean to be...
  4. I was looking at GregF's profile and I found This: http://www.bzpower.com/board/user/581-gregf/ Apr 01 2013 - 06:44 PM Hello everyone, I have an announcement to make. Although it is sort of unfortunate that it is April fools, I just recieved authorization from LEGO to talk about this today, so I didn't want to wait. (Hopefully it isn't their April fool's joke on me!) Over the last few weeks, I've been in talks with LEGO about the fate of Bionicle. More specifically, we've been discussing the possiblity of it making a return in some shape or form. The intrest in the line has keep going strong, which is one of the reasons this came up. Although I went into the discussion not knowing where it would lead, I'm happy to say that its good news! Although the revival wouldn't mean having a full line of sets again, there would at least a few small sets, and at the very least, a continuation of the story again. I'm not going to talk about where that's going, but I'm sure you have a few guesses. I'm really grateful to you guys for sticking with this community through thick and thin, and helping to show that Bionicle really does deserve another chance. I'll be posting more information on what's going to be happening as soon as I can, and hopefully allowing you guys to be involved in the process. Untill then, carry on! I still really enjoy this community, and I am looking forward to becoming a more active part of it again. Best wishes to everyone, -Greg Farshtey Most members chalked this up as an April Fool's joke, and thought GregF's account must have been hacked. But apparently since it takes about 2 years for Lego to develop a theme, this would be around the time they were first really working on it. Bionicle's return was essentially announced 2 years ago! And, just as it was with the blurry leaked pictures of the 2015 Toa, people were looking for reasons to doubt it...ever the skeptics, aren't we? My guess is this: they were first going to make commemorative Toa, and it just took off from there -
  5. The thing I wish was done differently is the last year, especially since Lego knew it was going to end then. Instead of the Invasion from Below, I think they should've revealed that the true mastermind behind the Breakout and Brain Attack - was Von Nebula! He makes his glorious return, using the data stolen from Hero Factory to build a Villain Factory (it's corny, but what isn't in HF?). It would be the ultimate showdown, like a Mata-Nui vs Makuta moment, and would have given a more cohesive end to the story, with Von Nebula meeting his final demise.
  6. What do you think? Masks, which were a huge part of G1, are back. Will Protodermis have a place in the new story too? As a power source, or a catalyst for transformation, or a possible third magical use? Or is there another thing that will/currently does fill the role Protodermis played in G1? Considering they've brought back so many other things that are explicitly BIONICLE, like the terms Toa (and the Mata names), Mask of Power, and the Makuta, not to mention the Island location, it would make sense for Protodermis to become an integral part to the new story, much like how Chi is to Chima. What do you think?
  7. Maybe the dual colored masks are meant to be worn by the villains. 4 of the Toa get their masks taken, and they change color when the villains possess the masks. At the very least, the dual colored Mask of Ice is gonna look sick on the Skull Warrior. I guess this makes Tahu and Gali the lucky ones. I can feel a romance beginning to grow...
  8. It would be cool to see a return. but I think part of the reason they changed Mata-Nui to Ekimu was because of the Maori controversy back when Bionicle first began. However, they did keep the Original names for the Toa, as well as Makuta, so who knows?
  9. Ah, I see. What about the alternate Toa modes? Is it based on how many pieces you get? How do you unlock those?
  10. Don't know if there's a topic on this yet, so... I need help with the BIONICLE app game! Yeah, I know, easiest game in the world. I've beaten the Lord of Skull Spiders with all the Toa, (and somehow unlocked the "winged" Kopaka) but now I rarely get those little exclamation marks notifications or new pieces. What do I have to do to get more pieces and "special" modes for the Toa? I'm playing on an Android. Is it glitchy? What's the solution?
  11. Wow- this is actually pretty cool. I never thought Gali's mask could make for an Avokhii look-alike, but it works out.
  12. Well, as cool as it is, it's also really awful. They've only been out for like, 3 days and they're all gone?! Will they restock on Amazon?! This is wayy too early for a product like this to vanish so fast!
  13. Honestly, I'm glad for the change. Not that I didn't like Greg or his take on BIONICLE, but I really want a fresh start with this new story. It gives me a chance to re-discover the BIONICLE world! Without Greg, I'm hoping the story will still be able to deliver, possibly even more robustly and precisely.
  14. Good analysis...a bit much on the levitating Kopaka, but nonetheless very cool stuff to think about. Just hoping they keep it feeling mystical, instead of explaining every little thing in the G2 world. Let's leave a few things to the imagination! I felt like it made me a participant in creating the world when all the questions weren't answered for me- I got to explain a few mysteries on my own, which was really rather fun. As fun as it was to know, it was way more fun not to know, and to just make it up myself. Let's keep the mystery alive this Generation! If there's one thing they could improve on this time around, it would be leaving just enough things unanswered. Let me create just a bit of this grand universe...
  15. Really? This is the first I've seen it. Was there mention of this before the S@H site came up?
  16. Has anyone checked the LEGO Shop homepage? If you give a click on the Mask of Life image, it brings you to a page with a bunch of links to BIONICLE pages- with a unique description of the BIONICLE Story: Summoned by the Islanders of Okoto, the Toa have fallen from the sky to fight an ancient evil! Their masks make them the masters of the six elements, but legend tells of the powerful GOLDEN MASKS, which were scattered over the Island and now lie hidden. Now they must work with the Protectors to find each one and stop Makuta the Mask Hoarder recovering the MASK OF CREATION. In addition to the absorbing world and compelling story, the buildable action figures feature a simple and familiar snap-building system. Each model can be reassembled effortlessly after rugged play and combines easily with other sets to create new and ever more powerful heroes! The really unique part I guess would be this new title Makuta has. Is this going to be his title? The "Mask Hoarder". Because it's capitalized, I think it very well could be. Thoughts on this?
  17. The gearboxes DO have enough strength, but it has to be a VERY precise hit for the weapon to deliver the full strength of the gear function, which is made even more complex by the fact that many of the Toa like Lewa and Gali have shoulder armor that can block strikes from certain angles. So from a practical standpoint it's certainly not easy. Would it make it easier to knock off the masks if you took out the friction gears?
  18. On the subject of gear boxes, do the new toa have enough force behind their function to actually knock each others masks off? Or is the "mask ejection" feature meant to stand alone from the gear box function?
  19. For anyone who has the new sets: Does the new gear function actually work to knock off masks? It looks like with the friction gears they move too slowly to get enough force for that- and do the masks come off easily enough when either the "brain" or the mask itself is struck? It's cool that they brought those features back, but do they actually work like the old knock-the-mask-off-game did?
  20. you know, accepting that this is a toy for children, I guess it isn't really expected for them to "collect them all". I guess I was just a greedy, spoilt child. considering this is Lego, the toy is of higher quality, and has more playability for $20 that even gives Buzz Lightyear a run for his money. So, yeah, I guess what Lego's doing makes sense. What's more, since it's an original line, they don't have to pay licensing fees, so that makes them relatively cheaper than other Lego's even (I've noticed that sets based off movies seem to be more expensive). This being said, if this keeps up, I might have to just collect by element rather than wave.
  21. Prices, dagnabit! And sizes! The villains are gonna be nui-ginormous! Which means: More expensive! Sometimes wishing that they would go back to the heroes being the $10 guys...
  22. I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say that there's no other topic like this yet. Is anyone concerned like I am about the ever-growing size of heroes as I am? I mean, the last regular heroes (from the "Brain Attack" line) were 9.99 USD, with the bigger heroes at 12.99 USD and the "XL" hero at 19.99 USD. The villains were of similar prices. Now, the REGULAR BIONICLE heroes are 14.99 USD, and the bigger ones are 19.99 USD! I tell you what: when I was a kid, it was hard enough to get 6 6.99 USD sets- it took us a good while before we got all 6 Original Toa. Now, the "impulse" sets are 9.99 USD! What happened? Why are the "little guys" so big now? Honestly, if their limbs only bent at the shoulder and wrist I wouldn't care too much if they were only about 3.99 USD like they used to be! Me and my bro's used to get the little guys first as stocking stuffers. And since all the Toa need them for is their weapon, then why couldn't they be cheaper? I'm not talking about the story here- I'm talking about BIONICLE Escalation. How much will the villains for the Toa be? They'll be upwards of 19.99 USD! At least when the heroes were smaller, the villains didn't have to be too much bigger. Now, the Toa are the Titans! That means Titans have to be their villains! Those spiders aren't any match for them- The Summer villains could very well be up to $50! Is anyone else worried? Even if they followed the old model, where the villain was priced as evenly as the hero, there would still be 3 19.99 USD villains for this year! Oh-My-G-O-S-H! Will they keep getting bigger? I'm scared! Honestly, I sometimes with they would go back to 9.99 heroes, and 3.99 impulse sets- They're getting too big! And expensive! About $115 for all 6 toa?! It used to be only about $70! If I was a kid now, I would be lucky if I got one of these new toa, let alone all 6! Is anyone else worried about this?
  23. I wish it was bulkier in the shoulders, but it's definitely a new take on Pohatu that's not too bad, I think.
  24. I feel like this aspect of the canon wasn't very well thought out...we should rewrite it. But, respecting the canon, I think the Bahrag are just their own creature, who are destined to rule over undead Av-Matoran who turned all Bohroky. And to answer the Krana origin questions, they were made by dipping certain Kanohi into energized protodermis. Why did they turn into Krana instead of Nuva masks? I dunno...destiny? We'll go with that.
