  1. 2 things: 1. I saw an old diagram back in '02 that is now in FaberFiles that shows some sort of evolution of Toa and Bohrok, suggesting a "common ancestor", which would make the Bohrok more like the evil brothers to the Toa- I think they should've gone with this. It's more poetic and reflects the recurring theme of sibling rivalry in BIONICLE. (In my HeadCanon, it's Canon). 2. Bohrok-Kal! Their Krana were still alive, and I was totally hoping for the swarms to make a comeback as a villain...never happened. The Swarms Will Rise Again!...maybe.
  2. Impulse sets! At first, I thought the Toa looked dumb (how wrong I was...), but then I saw the turaga, and the Idea came to me that these must be the Toa's kids! That was just too cool for me and my brothers, for whatever reason. The sets packaging was clever: I always knew they lived in different regions, and that there must be some story (mostly made up by us). Gali was a dude, and he lived in the cliffs, and Kopapa was somewhat evil. (I also thought Kopaka was the girl toa at first- must've been the slender shoulders.) Then we found BIONICLE.com, and the rest is history.
  3. This is something I've been thinking about for a while, and this is what I've decided: Toys are for kids. They're made to be played with. Adults? I don't think it's necessarily "wrong" for them to collect, or even sometimes play like a kid does but it shouldn't be something you obsess over when you have bigger responsibilities to worry about. While I love BIONICLE, I really think it "belongs" more to kiddos. Honestly, where I'm at in life, I'd be more excited to get one for my little sister or brother, or my kids one day. I'd be more excited to see them happy with them (just like I was) than to get them myself. What made BIONICLE fun for me was sharing it- with my brothers. Now, I want to pas that down to younger kids. My younger cousin loved it when I got "Beeonicle" Breez (breakout) for him last Christmas. I'm like his favorite cousin now. (I find it funny that even kids who never knew what BIONICLE was, called Hero Factory--> Bionicle). Seeing him excited about it was more exciting for me than it would've been if I had just kept Natalie for myself. For me, I think it really does belong to the kids, more so than it does to anyone. End Rant.
  4. I hate to stick out like an angry Kuurahk, but once the cans started getting Inika sized, I didn't like them as much. As convenient as they were for storage, I hated feeling compelled to keep them! They took up so much more space than just the sets alone would. But I guess there was a good side to it: fortress building. The more cans I had, the bigger they got. Which, I guess, made up for it. But with as many cans as I have now, I'm kinda glad they're changing up to boxes...
  5. I think this set might actually fare better with the kids than adult/teenage fans. When I showed the sets to my younger brother, he thought the spider was one of the coolest. Look at it from a sales point: 2 years of research and tests led them to think this would be popular with the target audience: the kids. I don't know if there are seriously enough AFOL's who won't buy this set that it will dramatically affect sales. As much as BIONICLE was brought back for the hardcore dudes like us, and the end of a day it's a toy meant for kids. As much as others don't like it, I for one am excited to see a unique gear function in a character that could potentially be an imposing threat to the Protectors. (Still waiting for the Summer Wave for a worthy foe of the Toa- fingers crossed for Rahkshi!) Question by the way: is the LOSS a "one-of-many" set like a bohrok/vahki/visorak/skrall, or is he one of a kind? The setup @ ComicCon confused me when they had 2 of them attacking the Toa...
  6. I guess it's what I get from the promo comics and packaging- the masks don't look scattered- they look like they're kept on pedestals for some reason- I guess you're right though: would they really have to look for them if everyone knew where they were? *sigh*, Everything made sense until this moment...
  7. I have a theory about the new 2015 story, that might explain what the Protectors are protecting, why the Toa need those golden masks, and why Okoto has such a kooky look. Based on the promo comic on the back of the Master's boxes, it looks like the Protectors are protecting the masks! But why? Are they expecting the Toa, and keeping the mask warm for them? Maybe, but I have another idea too: Since this new BIONICLE is up front about being "magical" (forged from raw magic and gold, Ekimu?), this idea seems to make sense: The golden masks themselves, just by being in a certain region, change the environment itself! Or at least have a very strong link to it- or are just that powerful. And this would explain the wonky look of Okoto- the elements of the island are somehow influenced by the masks! (but maybe not, since the masks have to be forged from the elements now. Maybe these ones are special though?) This is why the Toa need those masks! From the promo comic, it looks like once they have them they can kick trash. I think that it connects them more deeply to their element (and region), and gives them the full range of their power. Without it, they only have the bare minimum (maybe like a turaga on Mata Nui? or maybe the comparison is just Toa Mata to Nuva in power). Well, what do you think? Any different ideas about Protectors, or what makes the golden masks so special? --------- [like, subscribe, and comment below!]
  8. Here's what I think: I think that the Toa are from the distant future, and have traveled back through time and space to Okoto. Cuz why? Destiny. Even if it is a total reboot, we know there is a "time" element from the Temple of Time in the story. I think this is it.
