  1. T1S, I find that what I didn't like about the original Bionicle's building system is that with all those textured and complex armor pieces, the designs of some later sets got confused and complicated. Of course, it's all relative, depending on your own personal experience with the pieces.
  2. Ah, alright. Well, I'm glad people are still voting. Seems to me, though, that it'd take a whole lot of people to sway the poll.
  3. The golden masks were in 2002, with the Krana packs, not in 2001. The Krana pack, if I remember correctly, had 2 Krana, a silver kanohi, and a gold kanohi. But I totally understand what you mean there, but what I'm saying is that the story was engineered without the idea of collectible masks, so introducing them and adding them to the story would be, frankly, very odd. Also, I feel that those masks were designed to be in Gold and their respective colors, so they'd look rather garish if they were recolored.
  4. One of the main reasons I don't like some of the 2009 sets are A) the brittle pieces, and B) the confused styles. The sets took pieces from 2004-onward, and a lot of the styles in those pieces didn't quite belong.
  5. evil-jaga-genius, it seems that your main gripe about gen2 is that the mechanical look of Gen1 is no longer there. I think that Lego kind of wanted to get rid of the overly-complex pieces, and I know that later sets, especially 2009's, suffered from the mish-mash of styles conveyed in their pieces. I like the simplicity of CCBS, but also notice that the new armor add-on borrows from the piston-y look of 2001-2003. I like that, and how it gives a little bit of the old, while keeping the central armor design rather simple and customizable.
  6. See, I think they're not going to do that this time around. Why would they? There's no story significance like there used to be. The Toa aren't searching for masks with more different powers, just more powerful ones... and they've already found them, so... Also, the masks in 2001 weren't elemental. It made sense that each Toa would want x-ray vision, shielding, water-breathing, levitation, speed, and strength all at their command. It's different now, because why would Onua want control over wind and plant-life (using the example of the Jungle Mask in black)? That's Lewa's element, and Onua's element is Earth. If that's not enough, look at the villagers. They're all wearing solid-color versions of the Protectors' masks, so it doesn't make sense that the masks would belong to villagers, either. As cool as it may be, there's really no reason why LEGO would do it. Also, frankly, I don't want to have to buy blind-bags to hopefully be able to complete my collection of Gen2. I'm aiming for 100% completion (including Comic-Con Mask, excluding golden trophy masks), and blind bags would be expensive, and infuriating if I ended up with duplicates. Plus, where would they go? There are no suvas in gen2.
  7. You're wrong in one respect, ToaDraco. The Green in gen1 was plantlife. Lewa now has powers over wind and plantlife at the same time. Otherwise, everything you said is pretty much how I feel.
  8. No, I won't. TPBM will declare their undying love of something they hate.
  9. Thank you for being sensible about your judgment of G2's story. We really haven't had enough yet, so good on you for waiting for the books.
  10. Boba has a differently colored helmet... and sand-green. Point is, I really like Boba's character, and Jango is kind of eh.
  11. I see your point about the PoW. Maybe it would be safer to say that he/she's the most mediorcre Protector? No matter what you call it, though, I find it interesting that no one thinks he/she's the best. As for the Lord of Skull Spiders, as you said, Aanchir, some folks complain that the LoSS is a weak dedicated villain for this wave. You know what I say? I'm glad we have a villain this wave! The Toa Metru and Hordika had no villains for half a year, and it was really ambiguous as to who was a bad guy in 2009 (if you didn't pay close attention to the story). I'm frankly really glad there is someone for the Toa to fight against. Plus, we get the Skull Spiders, who are kind of like the Bohrok and Krana rolled up into one. Great horde villains, if you ask me. I've heard people say that they're too small, or too insignificant looking, but would you really say that if swarms of spiders that could wrap around your face where ransacking your village?
  12. Hey, I noticed that on the poll, it says 88 people have voted, but the votes for both options add up to 80. Is this because 8 people may have nulled? If not, why is there an inconsistency?
  13. I really liked 2009's sets. Soft reboot gave Bionicle a bit of a new style, and some of the sets were really nice. I didn't vote for any of them, though, because I felt that there were better ones.
  14. Wow, at the 34-vote-mark, it seems the consensus is that the PoW is the worst Protector! I rather like him/her; got a nice weapon and interesting proportions.
  15. Well, I think Pohatu is less of the "serious guy" and more of the "stubborn guy". He wanted to get his objective complete, earlier being getting his Mask, then going to the ancient city and finding Ekimu. The other Toa were interfering with that slightly by bickering in episode 7, then he notices the LoSS. I personally believe that every Toa deserves more fleshing-out of their character (I also think that Kopaka deserves the most, but that's beside the point).
  16. I mean they are intended as toys. They were made as toys. Sure, some people, including me, like to collect them, but they are toys first! LEGO isn't marketing them as collectible figurines. If they were, maybe they'd have different packaging. LEGO just assumes that because the product is a toy, the container should be easily disposable, and cardboard is the way to go in that mindset. I'd say it's safe to assume that most of the people who buy Bionicles are kids or their parents, and they want to get the toy out of the package. Then what? They most likely don't want to keep the container. That's where canisters failed. They didn't meet the need of the majority, that being the kids and their parents who buy the thing for the toy, not the toy and the package. Decepticonwarrior, you said "Maybe to you, but not to me." "You" meaning Cwog? I'm a collector. Well, kind of. I made a resolve back in December that I would try my hardest to get every gen2 set. So, I have all 13 winter sets, and I intend to buy the 5 this summer, and any coming forward. In that sense, I'm a collector. However, I routinely take those Bionicles off their shelf, play with them, maybe make a short stop-motion film, pose them, and then put them back. That's how toys are played with, right? So, in that sense, I play with them as toys. However, like I said in the first two paragraphs, you made the wrong assumption as to what I meant.
  17. What about Portal? That'd be pretty cool to have some test chambers in LEGO, some featuring Chell, some Rattman, and some Atlas and Peabody. There could be a companion cube, Wheatley, GLaDOS, oh, I'd like that!
  18. I haven't paid much attention to the music, but it was really nice. OP, I think you should add a poll so you can keep a record of everyone's answers.

    2018?

Bioniclepluslotr, the Toa are acting like children because they haven't learned how to work together or be a Toa yet. If you remember, Tahu had no memory of himself before the Protector of Fire told him. That means that, naturally, he wouldn't have any social skills, especially knowing how to work as a team. As for Okoto, It's got to be somewhat important. Otherwise, why would the first webisode provide the background about the island, what with Ekimu and Makuta. NOTE: I started writing this reply before Lyichir posted, but I still wanted to post it.
  20. Munty mentioned that the 8-sided-ness of the boxes makes them weaker. I think that LEGO understood that risk, but wanted hexagonal cylinders because they stand out on shelves, even compared to their other products. It's as if they're saying "We're special, look at us!" Good marketing technique, and again, I think only some collectors care about the durability of boxes post-opening. May I mention once more that Bionicles are toys first, collectibles second.
  21. Totally amazing... I would have preferred Boba, though.
  22. Pfft, why be bread when you could be the evil overlord of the tri-state area?
  23. I don't know what is meant by "normal". Do you like Red vs. Blue?
  24. Between Two Points - The Glitch Mob
  25. He's a character from You Can't Take it With You. IYS will, in return for a medic, will proclaim that they suck, that they are a girl, they like ribbons in their hair, and want to kiss all the boys.
