  1. Given how his recent films have gone, I'd probably straight up cry upon seeing "Bionicle: The Movie - Starring Adam Sandler" on a poster. He might actually work as a comic relief character, such as Lewa or Kongu. If he were to play Kopaka, however, I'd facepalm hard enough to put a hand-shaped dent in my face.
  2. The clearance I saw only applied to Umarak, Tahu and Kopaka. None of the creatures or other Toa were on clearance. Of course, all walmarts will be different. When I checked today the last two Kopaka had sold. (Seeing as I bought the last Tahu and all Umarak were already gone.) I found Pohatu (Uniter) on clearance for $7. It's kinda funny tho, Guitar Ketar was still $10... XD And sold out Bonkles? Looks like it's doing well.
  3. HOLY GADUNKA! Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely be checking my local Walmarts. I have two nearby.
  4. *cough cough* Doctor Who, anyone? Not a toyline, but it's still a franchise that started out relatively obscure, but got really popular in recent years. Not exactly. Its popularity was insanely high in Britain even within its first few years, and that continued for a long, long, time. Australia and the rest of the Commonwealth soon caught up and Doctor Who became something of a cultural phenomenon. Still is. Mind, speaking reflectively, most of its popularity was within the Commonwealth, and it never really exploded into the US market until fairly recent years. Anyway, didn't G.I. Joe and Transformers start out as toylines? If they can get cinematic movies, BIONICLE certainly can. We've got a better story than G.I. Joe - though Hollywood seem to do funny things to good stories more often than not. Imagine if Michael Bay became director of the BIONICLE movie *shiver*. I stand corrected, my apologies for m incorrectness. And I agree with the second paragraph. Side note: What if Guillermo Del Toro directed a BIONICLE film?

  6. B--But I don't even have all the Winter '16 sets yet! On a more serious note, I second this. No need for worries.
  7. I really like the redesigned mask in the painting (as if the set's mask wasn't cool enough already ), and I second Lyichir on the energy ports. Might have to temporarily use some extra studs from my Akida set to see how that looks on a figure.
  8. You sure are! I can't really list off all of the parts you'll need, as that would take forever, but I can definitely say that you'll need 1x Onua, Master of Earth, 2x Onua, Uniter of Earth and 2x Terak, Creature of Earth (One for parts, one for uniting), all alongside other CCBS and Technic parts. Alrighty, thanks! I'll make sure to jot that down. I actually got an extra Terak recently, but that ended up going into a Mask Maker Makuta.
  9. *GASP* Haikara is a wyvern... with gun-wings. Most impressive! I see that the flap function remains intact, which is quite cool. Plus, the wing design is excellent. However, the golden head clashes with the rest of the build, but that's not much of a problem in Unity Mode.
  10. Ooh, size comparison is a good idea. Of course, I can't really compare to the component sets, since they've been taken apart to make this... but I recently got Pohatu, and could do a size comparison with him. Would that do? Since I can't really take more pictures until tomorrow, I'll try my best to describe it for now. The model actually isn't substantially taller than Kopaka, since his leg beams were the longest ones I had to work with and I couldn't really come up with any satisfactory custom solutions for the legs. So height-wise, from the feet to the head, the model is only one module taller (because I added friction joints to the knees). Then again, Wairuha Nuva was actually fairly short itself, compared to Akamai Nuva or even the original two Toa Nuva! So that served as a little bit of retroactive justification. So anyway since I couldn't make the model that much taller, I instead focused on bulk—much wider shoulders, huge weapons, and the use of Lewa and Gali's torso shells on the legs. The shoulders were the most involved part of the build, and went through a lot of iteration before I'd even started nailing down the other aspects of the MOC. They're very sturdy, very solid, and even articulated—the shoulders can "shrug" upwards (with a range of about 15 degrees or so), hinged on two separate ball and socket joints. The use of the torso shells on the legs actually inspired the symmetry of the build, with Gali's Dark Azur and Trans. Light Blue concentrated on one side and Lewa's Bright Green and Trans. Bright Green concentrated on the other. That worked out well (and is another reason why I'm apprehensive about how I could do Akamai—it'll be much harder to balance the color scheme in quite the same way). The weapons were generally one of the last things I got figured out (apart from some fine tuning of the torso and back). The staff weapon was the first one I came up with, and mostly came from wanting to do something with the shooter and all three of the Medium Azur crystal blades (Takanuva's staff was definitely an inspiration there, though Skull Grinder's was as well). The secondary weapon came after that, and in general I'd say I'm actually probably happier with it than with the staff—it spins on a gear like Ekimu's shield, and despite working with a more limited parts selection by that point it actually turned out great. Anyway, looks like you got me rambling. Thanks for the feedback! No problem! A comparison with Potat-- er, Pohatu would be great. (Side note: Pohatu 2016's air intakes on his mask remind me of classic Stormtroopers.) And as for the Creature Kaita: keep trying! I'm sure that you could figure out a good design. Maybe it could be a dragon?
  11. Andy Serkis? The guy's well-recognized for his motion-capture roles. He was Gollum in LotR, as well as Snoke in the latest Star Wars film. There are other actors known primarily for off-camera roles, like Steve Blum. (He played Starscream in Transformers Prime, as well as Wolverine in several Marvel works.) Case in point, there are actors whose names could sell a Bionicle film without humans getting dragged into the story.
  12. This is epic. I dig the asymmetry, it really captures the whole combiner feeling, especially with how the colors of each Toa are contained in individual body parts. Also, those shoulders. Those are some epic shoulders. And the staff reminds me of 08 Takanuva's Power Staff. Overall, good stuff. I'd like to see a size comparison, however.
  13. I might have to pick one up. Or two. Or four. Great review, as always!
  14. Let's be honest: G1 was actually very simple in premise. It just had plenty of worldbuilding and character development over 10 years backing it up. Besides, it too was flawed. Unfinished serials? Non-canon love? And who can forget the Red Star?
  15. These paintings are as awesome as they are hilarious. XD
  16. So, are we allowed to build this ourselves? If so, what parts do we need?
  17. Most likely a transparent background. In other words, make sure that your entry pic is in .png format.
  18. Hm... Gavla + Nokama Metru = Tuyet. Matau Metru + Nuparu Mahri + Lesovikk = Nidhiki (pre-mutation). Hahli Mahri + Nokama Metru + Iruini Hagah (armor only) = Helryx. I dunno how the mace would go together, however. Thin Air = Jerbraz.
  19. Plus, making a model out of parts exclusively from Set X and Set Y is a fun challenge.
  20. I already liked Uniter Onua, but you managed to make him miles better.
  21. More horde enemies! Maybe I'll make bigger Beasts as leaders? RIP in pepperoni wallet.
  22. There's a chance G2 won't continue past 2017. If that is the case, I hope for the 2017 release. Tiny, tiny chance based on a throwaway comment. I sincerely hope it doesn't end, and while some US based fans have reported low stocks and poor sales, G2 sets are going like freaking candy in Europe. As for the set release, I'm thinking that based on 2015, the more significant of the two annual special masks is released in the summer wave (mask of creation), therefore the MoUP would get that in 2017. However, seeing as in 2016 we got the Mask of Control in the winter and... mutated Mask of Control? I guess? in the summer, they might keep the heavy hitter (meaning the MoUP) for the winter again in 2017. Basically what I'm saying is that if the Vahi is released in 2017, it's a 50/50 toss up which wave we're getting it in. If it's 2018, we might get the two halves, one per wave. Oh goody, where'd you find that out? Seeing as LEGO is based in Europe, not to mention that G2 is actually successful there (apparently), a continuation beyond 2017 seems plausible.
  23. "Crazy?!? Whaddya mean, crazy? I make Matoran into cybernetic Frankenstein creations on alternating Tuesdays! I'm perfectly sane! And please, ignore the state of my Kanohi. Anywho, would you like to peruse my collection of Yu-Gi-Oh cards?" Jaller
  24. I personally think that maybe So, I definitely think that there's a good opportunity for a springboard. I personally think there's some sort of connection to G1, especially considering the Mask of Time and its "ancient name". Who knows? It could be used as a springboard in that sense. In fact, that might just be what they're shooting for.
