  1. The continued work to make this compilation as perfect as can be continues to impress me. I took imagine a world where I will one day try to bind this into a book (or books) of some kind. Having never done such a thing before what kinds of advice do people have for that? Going REALLY far back in this discussion, would it be possible to (when all is said and done) release a version that is editable just so people can pick and choose which titles they prefer? If some people like the one word titles and some people prefer the more traditional year "theme" titles (Web of Shadows, Island of Doom, Ignition, ect.) then that would allow everyone to just make do with whatever they wanted. This is a minor point though and if it is implausible who I am to judge.
  2. I'm interested potentially in some of the Nuva as well as the comics.
  3. I second this. I always assumed that the Toa Mata's quest for all of their masks took several months and the books/other sources gave us the important snippets when they actually find said masks. I always thought there were interim periods between events, which would have buffed out the period from the Mata's arrival on Mata Nui to the activation of the Codrex to several years, especially with all the traveling and scavenger hunting that the story was full of. To be honest, my brain literally just ignores the "one year" idea whenever I read the books or comics. It makes no sense. It makes more sense for each "year" to have lasted almost a year, for some of them at least. 01-03 definitely should've lasted at least 2 years, Voya Nui was easily six months or more, by the time the Nuva traveled there, Jaller and co. traveled there, became Toa, and all the rest. 07 probably took place over a relatively short period of time, but the events of 08 and the "Destiny War" must've lasted at least a year or longer. The entire premise of the whole series only taking place in one year is ludicrous.
  4. My biggest complaint with the storyline as it is is obviously the ending. I feel we were semi-robbed of a true ending. In my opinion, it's bogus from a storytelling perspective for the finale not to revolve around saving the Matoran Universe and the characters within it. "The three that must be one" and all that is a very cool idea, but wasn't built up over enough years for us to really care about it. In addition, no one cares about Gresh, or Gelu, or any of the Bara Magna characters, so a finale revolving around them and Mata Nui is dumb. Instead what I would do is build up the "three that must be one" thing a little bit better over the years and have us understand eventually that this is Mata Nui's purpose, but have it be that to fulfill that purpose, he must regain control of the robot. No Makuta/Mata Nui rock-em sock-em. Instead what we needed was a final battle with the Nuva, Mahri, Hagah, Dark Hunters, Matoran, Turaga, and all of the heroes and characters we love uniting for one insane final battle against Makuta and the forces of evil. Reign of shadows should've been the focus, or at least split 50/50 with Mata Nui's quest for his origin. He still goes to Bara Magna and Bota Magna maybe, but that is a side plot to the characters we love saving their universe. Nobody liked watching Metru Nui and all the locations we'd come to love be destroyed in favor of Spherus Magna. A lot of characters got shortchanged in the ending, in particular Takanuva. I would have Takanuva be CENTRAL to defeating Makuta, and thus have his role as a Toa of Darkness/Light and his "destiny" be revealed.
  5. Is there meant to be a "Many years ago" at the beginning of the Book Six epilogue? As it is it read confusingly because the last time we saw Norik he was still a Rahagah, and I believe he still is one at this point in time.
  6. I actually hadn't seen it either until someone mentioned it here! I assume that stanza refers to Voya Nui being "divided" from the MU, and how "cutting" the Cord will allow it to return. Ah that makes sense. Any theories on what is the in-universe inspiration for this? Did a great being write it?
  7. Having never seen that Piraka poem before, it is very good forshadowing. What exactly does the third stanza refer to ("What darkness divides/A cut will unite")? The rest of them seem clear to me.
  8. As a longtime lurker on this forum, I felt the need to finally join for real, because I simply have to commend you on one of the greatest labors of love by a member of our fandom that I have ever seen. Truly this is something that every Bionicle fan has dreamed of and now you have made it a reality. Remarkable. I have nothing but praise to heap upon you. On the book naming debate: I also think that there are better names that could be had then the word word titles. I would also potentially be in favor of dividing the complete work into "Parts" if that make sense. Here's what I propose (some of these ideas have also been suggested by others) The Biological Chronicle (BIONICLE): PART I: UNITY or Legend of the Toa Book 1: Quest for the Masks Book 2: The Bohrok Swarms/What Lurks Below (either of these work) Book 3: The Seventh Toa/Mask of Light (again I love both these titles) PART II: DUTY or The Great Rescue Book 4: City of Legends Book 5: Web of Shadows PART III: DESTINY or The Three that Must Be One Book 6: Island of Doom Book 7: The Pit Book 8: Destiny War Book 9: Journey's End EPILOGUE: Book 10: Epilogue I also think Ignition is not a bad title for either 7 or 8. I guess I just like a lot of the cool "Bionicle" titles for things instead of one word titles that could be for any generic Sci-Fi series. "City of Legends" and "Island of Doom" and certain other things instantly bring to mind Bionicle for me and I guess I just really like those as titles. I also think dividing the books up into parts could be neat just structurally and UNITY, DUTY, and DESTINY sortof fit perfectly. I know I just said I don't like one word titles but for the three parts those words are perfect.
