  1. Excellent article once again. It occured to me that there may be a connection between tohunga professions and the 'clans' touched upon in earlier chapters, ie the 'Clan of Lhii'. Could it be that all members of this clan wear Hau's to identify themselves and work as professional soldiers or watchmen? That would certainly explain Jala's demeanor, and the parallels between him and Tahu. It also makes Takua's role in the story more potentially interesting. If there are normally only twelve villagers(or professions) per tribe, why is there a thirteenth Ta-Koran? He does not seem to have a profession in the same way as the other villagers. Instead, his role as a Chronicler is seemingly unique. Perhaps he comes from the seventh tribe, just like how he comes from Karda Nui in current canon? I think he would be a very interesting subject for a future article.
  2. IC: Pardehi - Metru Koro @Keeper of Kraata "Take it anyway. I will help you recover from the poisoning. Besides, I have other patients to tend to."
  3. IC:Pardehi - Metru Koro @Keeper of Kraata "Eat this root." he said, holding out a length of pale orange karaoka vine. "It will help with the pain."
  4. IC: Pardehi - Metru Koro @Keeper of Kraata He could here someone calling for a medic. He rose to his feet and dashed of in the direction of the voice.
  5. IC: Balkan - The Rig - @Vezok's Friend "Thanks for the bike, I'll make sure to take good care of it."
  6. IC: Tugarak - Metru Nui @Nato the Traveler@Toru Nui He watched as the portal closed behind him, the docking station filling his field of vision they had arrived back in Metru Nui
  7. Could Hangul be used to write matoran? Using outofgloom's conlang I mean. While we're at, what real world scripts out there, in current use or not, do you think would work well for writing the matoran language? Besides Latin, obviously.
  8. IC:Balkan - The Rig - @Vezok's Friend "That depends. What is it you need done?"
  9. I always assumed he discarded it in favor of the Avohki. It's probably sitting still in Metru Nui's spare mask inventory as we speak.
  10. IC:Balkan - The Rig @Vezok's Friend "I'm going inland. To meet an old friend in the north of Zakaz."
  11. IC: Balkan - The Rig @Vezok's Friend He sighed audibly. He was not used to this sort of thing in the least. "I was just hoping you had some reccomendations. I would want to have my boat fail on me in the middle of a storm."
  12. IC:Pardehi - Metru Koro @Harvali@EmperorWhenua@Toru Nui "Of course. I will do what I can to keep her safe here until she recovers."
  13. IC:Balkan - The Rig @Vezok's Friend He had disguised himself as a red-tinted skakdi with triangular teeth. "Any idea where I can find a boat around here?"
  14. IC:Tugarak - The Ripple @Nato the Traveler@Toru Nui He ordered the pilots to resume operating at normal speed. Soon, they would return to the coliseum to inform Pridak and Ehlek of the diaster that had taken place.
  15. IC: Tugarak - The Ripple @Nato the Traveler@Toru Nui "Helm, slow our velocity. Set us to hover mode." He turned around. "The comm room is upstairs. Say whatever you need to, but be quick about it. You have thirty minutes."
  16. IC: Pardehi - Metru Koro @Harvali@Toru Nui@Tarn He saluted the newcomer. "Always good to have a toa or too around." IC: Tugarak - The Ripple @Nato the Traveler "What do you want to say exactly? It seems pretty clear they won't listen."
  17. IC: Pardehi - Central Mountains @Harvali@Toru Nui@Tarn "Well, if so insist on walking, I won't stop you." He mounted the crab to continue along. "That sure does sound strange. I knew a skakdi once. His name was Thom. We fought together on the Silver Beach during the League War. I wonder what he is doing now?" IC: Tugarak - The Ripple @Nato the Traveler He grimaced. "I don't care what they said to you. I will not fire upon helpless civilians under a flag of truce." "We have to be more honorable than they are. It's what seperates us from the rahi beasts." OOC: You can still try and force him to fire, if you insist upon it. He certainly won't be expecting them to turn upon him.
  18. IC: Pardehi - Central Mountains @Harvali@Toru Nui@Tarn "We will certainly need one to carry her. You go ahead and take the other one, I can walk." IC: Tugarak - Metru Koro @Nato the Traveler He sighed quietly to himself. It was good that this was over, even if nothing had been accomplished. "Helm, set a course for the Metru Nui Coliseum." he commanded. The Ripple took off once again, heading back in the direction it had come from.
  19. IC:Pardehi - Central Mountains @Harvali@Tarn@Toru Nui "Don't worry, I have one ready right now." He laid out the stretcher next to Voka. It was a crude contraption, a sheet of Harakekke suspended between two bamboo poles, but it would do what it needed to. He knelt down behind Voka, taking her shoulders in his hands. "Kanohi, help me get her into the stretcher. We can carry her to safety together."
  20. IC: Pardehi Central Mountain @Harvali@Toru Nui@Tarn "Just keep an eye out for trouble. It looks like Kanohi's friend here was injured pretty badly. It might be a while before she fully recovers." He had carefully disenfected the vomatoran's wounds, wrapping them in harakeke bandage. He had tied two straits stocks of bamboo to her torso, setting her deformed body back into tis proper shape. It would only be a matter of time before the damage was fully healed, but time was not on her side. "We will have to seek shelter soon. We cannot risk leaving her out in the open like this." IC: Karai - Po-Koro He stepped outside the Taku, warm sunlight reflecting off his kanohi. The damage to the koro had not been severe, but there was still rebuilding to be done. "Anyone need a hand?" he asked. IC: Changua - Po-Koro As soon as the raiders had arrived they had left. She landed softly in the center of the village and looked around. Already, the matoran were hard and work rebuilding. This was what she admired about them, their resiliance and their work effect. They might have suffered some losses, but they were already working together to recoup those losses. It wasn't like home at all. Vortixx would have spent wasted days arguing over costs and shared responsibilites, and nothing would have been accomplished. She wondered idly what had become of Xia and the vortixx. She had seen no evidence of large vortixx settlements on Zakaz, and if they had stayed in the Matoran Universe they would surely have perished. There was a very real possibility, she realized, that she was among the last of her kind. All the more reason to help the matoran survivors in any way she could. IC:Balkan - The Rig Balkan thanked the Janitor and moved on. After turning a few corridors, he soon found himself at the Mall. He decided to go to McGrokk's. There was always something interesitng going on there.
  21. IC: Pardehi - Central Mountains @Harvali@Toru Nui@Tarn He rushed to the side of the wounded matoran, kneeling down to get a closer look at her wounds. She was lying limp in Klawne's arms, her head titled backwards at an unhealthy angle, arms dangling lifelessly by her sides. Her torso had ruptured and deformed from the attack, leaking essence onto the dry desert ground. He eyes where rolled up in her mask, staring blankly into the sky. Her mouth hung open in a slack-jawed, idiotic expression. He held his head to her chest, listening for the the sound of a heartbeat. It was there, but very weak. Another hour or so, and she would be beyond saving. "Set her down gently." he said to Turaga Klawne. "Make a comfortable place for her to lie in the dirt. We don't have much time left." He unfastened his canteen, sprinkling water around the matoran's head and lips. She gave no signs of responding. "Toa Ulkar," he said without looking up. "You are a Toa of Shadow, are you not? Do you think you could give her some shade?"
  22. IC: Pardehi - Central Mountains @Harvali@Toru Nui@Tarn@Sparticus147 He had seen the signal too. It was a twisted, black colum of smoke, reaching into the sky like an energy tick's probiscus. He sighed in frustration. They were too far away to help now, even if there were not sparred the knowledge of its presence. Besides, they had came out here for a very good reason. One of their fellow matoran was in danger, probably even seriously hurt. As a doctor, Pardehi could not abandon his patients, no matter what the cost. He looked up at Ulkarr again. "How long can you keep them occupied like that?" IC: Changua - Po Koro @Unreliable Narrator She brough herself down roughly half a mio outside the village, watching as the battle raged around her. Realizing that it would do her no good to remain ignorant, she activated her flight kanoka again, rising far above the village walls. She readied her rhotouka launcher, seeking out a target. IC: Tugarak - Metru Koro @Dane-gerous He rubbed his fingers nervously over his council. Ostrox and Zalyiah had been gone a long time, and he was beggining to fear for their safety. For importantly, he feared what would happen if the matoran had indeed chosen to betray them, and opened fire on the Ripple. One of his lieutenants spoke up. "Captain, the enemy vessel is departing." Indeed it was. The Taku had turned around, speeding off in the opposite direction. "Most strange." said Tugarak. "They said they were going to keep an eye on us. What could possibly have changed their minds?" "There appears to be some kind of primitve smoke signal emmanating from one of the nearby villages." said the lieutenant. "I believe they are under attack." Tugarak sighed. It was almost certainly the work of skakdi raiders. As such beings were often poorly equipped and lacking in the military discipline so highly prised among league troops, he was sure that they would be repelled easily, and things would quickly return to normal. The matoran, paranoid fools that they were, might even blame Tugarak or his lords for the attack. Oh, well. He would deal with that later. For now, he could continue on supervising without interuption.
  23. IC: Pardehi - Central Mountains @Toru Nui@Harvali@Tarn He followed Ulkar past the Muaka beasts under the cover of shadow. IC: Changua - Desert @Onaku@Smudge8@BULiK She had seen the smoke too, and has already well on her way, hovering at top speed over several mios of barren earth. It was all she could to to keep Tugarak from recognizing her, even if it meant fighting skakdi. IC: Karai - The Taku Karai immediately rose to his feet, hammer in hand. "What in Artahka's name is going on up there?"
  24. IC:Pardehi - Wilderness @Toru Nui "Toa Ulkar, will you hide me until I can make it across the gap?"
  25. IC: Pardehi - Wilderness @Tarn@Toru Nui@Harvali He turned to Nale Vella, lying on the rock. "Our you ready to keep going, or do you need to rest a while longer?" IC: Tugarak - Metru Koro @BULiK "You fool! Do you think I can't tell you're bluffing? You corpse-worshippers have been poor and desperate ever since the crash. I doubt you could afford firefly crackers, much less any kind of explosive ordanance worth squat. Soon, you'll be begging us for your cut of the protodermis pie." It was clear that this conversation was pointless. There was no point in picking fights on a diplomatic mission, especially not with a toa. Even unarmed and barely armored, toa were still dangerous. It would be unwise to risk his anger. He knew that attrition and poverty would be far more effective measures against the heathen than any weapon a mere mortal such as himself could wield. He was about to hang up the intercom, but felt the need to include one final message. "You say we destroyed the universe, but I'll have you know you're wrong. You're the ones who killed it, with your falsehoods and self-destructive hypocrisy. The Great Beings gave you the duty of maintaining the body of our universe, but you shirked and neglected that duty. You allowed yourselves and the universe to become weak and diseased. Just as a rotten tree does not survive a forest fire, the universe did not survive our cleansing fire!" He slammed the intercom down with rage, visibly frustrated. As much as he hated the sight of matoran, he would have to put up with them for now. It was what his duty to Ehlek demanded. More importantly, it was what his duty to the Great Spirit demanded. He had made sure he would not fail in his duty again. IC: Karai - The Taku Most of what he heard from Tugarak meant nothing to him but the semi-coherent ramblings of a fanatic, but one thing he said had been right. They were running low on protodermis. It wasn't that they hadn't tried to ration it, thank the Maker. Turaga Sans had seen to that. Now, instead of running out in the span of months, it would be years or more before there present stock of supplies gave out. It was plenty of time to ignore the issue, focusing on whatever trivial matter captured the public attention at the moment. After that, time, however, they would indeed be helpless, against the league, the skakdi and whatever else was out there. No matter, what, they had to find a new source somewhere.
