  1. Awesome! Ooh, developing full fingers would be really neat. As is, the blades give it a sort of Wolverine-y effect.

I just started hosting a 'Cosplay' category at BricksCascade for wearable MOCs, so this is exciting for me to see! If you consider going to a Lego convention, you should bring it to the Portland one. :D

  2. I thought this was a horse when I first saw it. It took a double take to realize that it was a fox. While I understand how difficult this may be, that tail needs better support. If memory serves, fox tails stick up. It looks as if the tail is too big for the model.

Other than that, I like the model, with the details of pieces tastefully used to give your model curves. That trophy is well deserved, but perhaps there might be something to make it look a little more foxy. :shrugs:

As previously stated, the model is built to be fox-like, and is built from a pre-existing design. Her body structure is meant to be more akin to a greyhound / maned fox, and the tail longer than the rest of her body. I understand that it isn't proper to a classic fox, but strictly speaking she isn't one.

I do hope with a future redesign to make her tail appear more lifted, although for balance's sake it will still need to touch the ground somewhere along it. Thank you for the compliment. ^^

  3.

I honestly wish I could post the picture of her design, but it's on a website I don't think is allowed to link here. :\

If you just post the image itself, you should be fine. If you think it's that questionable, you might just upload it to something else like Flickr, Brickshelf, Google +, or DA. But, really, most things should be fine, unless the URL itself is blocked by the word filter. :P

The image was drawn by someone else, and posted on DA (which I assumed isn't allowed because it has comments/forums), and I'm not going to rip it off and put it elsewhere.

On the other hand, I have a tattoo of her as well so I could just take and post a picture of that instead.

  4. I honestly wish I could post the picture of her design, but it's on a website I don't think is allowed to link here. :\

Her body build is meant to be similar to that of a greyhound/maned wolf, and her tail is meant to be significantly longer than her body. So it may look odd but it's intentional. ^^ I've always kept the fox elements of the tipped tail and tufted ears, but yes, she's meant to be more fox-like than being entirely accurate to a fox.

How poseable is it, though? I imagine the tail would be pretty heavy for those legs.

Her legs have all the proper points of articulation for a canid, her head rotates down a bit, her mouth opens... her tail has quite a lot of points of articulation, but certain poses look better than others because of the way I built it with "fur".

Thank you guys so much! ^^

A foxlike Rahi seen rarely in the depths of Le-Wahi. Many inhabitants of Le-Koro believe her to be a forest spirit, guarding over the peace of the woods. She was believed for many years to be a myth, with only a scarce few claiming to have seen her - but their stories were later confirmed. A portion of the forest was set ablaze years ago, and she emerged from the wood just long enough to pull some weak Matoran out of the fire before disappearing again. None have ever heard her make a sound and she is believed to be many hundreds of years old.

For those unfamiliar with her, this is my primary character who has gone through quite some transformations during my years here on BZP. Her design and scheme were in existence before this MOC, and so the MOC was built to emulate that as closely as possible. (OFFICIAL DESIGN)

Her tail will likely go through some changes in time, but I’m very happy with this first pass.

  6. How did I know the comments would look like this...

I really think most of you don't understand how challenging it is to make a large MOC, especially one that is both sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. Small MOCs take talent. So do large ones, ESPECIALLY in constraction. The detail of this MOC is fantastic, the proportioning is good, and the feel of the entire MOC fits very well with what you would expect of a villain. He's menacing and deserves to be compared to the likes of Teridax, and as I'm sure will come in time, Makuta Gen2.

Can we stop playing the 'less money, not fair' card? As someone mentioned before, more doesn't automatically mean better and the build could have looked bad, but she has both the part count and the talent to make it look good. Part limits couldn't be maintained in a virtuallly-held competition, and as smaller MOCs in the finals showed, talent exists in all sizes. If I were to say "if only I were rich and could have amazing horses, I'd be the best polo player in the world" doesn't mean I deserve to win an award riding the neighbor's pony. Stop asking for equal ground because it will never happen.

Besides, come on. I really don't think a Toa-sized MOC of any talent deserves to win the largest Bionicle competition in existence thus far. How anticlimatic would that be, especially for younger fans? If Akutahn was shown in the next magazine, people would see it and say "I can see why that won, that's impressive." Put in something small, no matter how well designed, and people will look and say, "THAT won? Shoot, I could have done something better than that." ...whether that's true or not.

As nice as it is to read that, unfortunately I find it in stark contrast to the fact that we're not allowed to sign up for the LEGO magazine, even a paid version.

I know, right? with all the new Bionicle stuff coming, I still want to be a part of getting the magazine, but they just decided we're not allowed to get it anymore.

I'm lucky enough to have a toddler I can enlist for, but many AFOLs are flat out of luck, especially if they want the inserts (which don't come in the in-store ones... and I'm sure many others like me are nowhere near a store anyway).

  9. Like a lot of other people right now apparently, I'm trying to complete my Bionicle collection. I have 22 left to go (according to my BrickLink wanted list), but I'd appreciate if I could get them through you guys here.

    Important things:

    1. The more I can get from one purchase/shipment, the better.
    2. This isn't a deal-breaker, but I would REALLY like most, if not all, to have instructions with them.
    3. I don't want containers of any sort.
    4. Mostly I will be paying cash via PayPal, but we may be able to make a trade deal (I have lots of extra early-year masks, and I take commissions for sculpts, plushies, cosplay, etc).

    Alright, so without further ado...

    The Wanted List!

Thanks for taking a look! I'm hoping to get these for a good price, so if you ask me for offers I'll take what they're going for on Bricklink and gauge it by how many sets you're selling at once. :)

  10. I really don't see why people complain about the use of black or gray... or anything grayscale. They're mechanical, as you said, which implies underworkings (that aren't usually painted to be pretty, especially because you don't want paint on moving/interacting parts as they'll wear off and make problems anyway)... not to mention it's aesthetically the most reasonable filler.

Anyway. All I have to say is... dem feet <3  I've always loved the two-toed look of the Matoran, it's one of my favorite physical features ever in Bionicle. So of course I get giddy when other MOCs are two-toed. XD

Also, the wheels on the legs kind of give off the impression of boots... but the toes/heels stick out in color, so maybe open-toed boots? High-top sandals? Haha it's weird but I like it... and somehow I can picture a daring lavasurfer wearing them. (In that sense, it almost makes the black fingers look like gloves. Oh yes... I can see Tahu all sports-gear'd out.)

  11. I am currently fighting for separate spaces altogether. We don't want new fans going to search for stuff and being inundated with loads and loads of info that has zero relevance to an entirely rebooted storyline. There is no purposeful/important overlap, so gen 1 and gen 2 really don't belong in a comparative space.

Currently this is still in discussion with Swert, as we don't currently have the resources to do so. We'll see.

  12. What's the plan in the event of a total story reboot? Are we going to try and let the two storylines coexist on one wiki, or are we going to make a BS02?

(We're allowed to revive official topics after thirty days, right?)

I would guess any character/location/etc pages that are in both storylines will have their "Story" section separated into two parts, like First Story Arc and Second Story Arc. Trivia and other such things that are only true for one story arc will be labeled as such. This isn't unheard of - the aforementioned Wookiepedia does it, any Marvel/DC comic series that ever got redone or made as a movie simply differentiates from one version to another.

BS02 would be unnecessarily repetitive and, as fishers64 suggested, contextually confusing for those interested in both storylines.

I assume this is only IF canon clashes, and if you ask me, I think TLG is going to at least try not to. The less they have to do with each other, the less likely they are to step on each others' toes.
