  1. BricksCascade is in the Portland Convention Center - Portland, OR. So it's a bit more of a drive, but hotels and such are cheap enough if you coordinate with other people (which a lot of us do in the Convention section of these forums in the weeks leading up to them).
  2. Somehow I escaped having my soul stolen by photography. MUAHAHAHA! But seriously it's a bummer we didn't see more of you guys! I will admit that I avoided the hall pretty fervently this year, and in general this con was kind of a mood gutter for me this time around. Hopefully we will get a better chance to meet properly if you come to a full convention in the future. ^^ You should try BricksCascade if you can! Very similar talent level in MOCs, many of the same people and more, more space/less public clutter, and a fantastic return on investment with free Lego. Also, no one seemed to have plans for the 'sign-in sheet' so I still have it and am not sure what to do with it.

    BrickCon?

Yay people! I'll be there, it'll be awesome to meet new peoples ^^
  5. YAY YOU'RE COMING BACK \o/ The PNW is hard to beat. ;3 I hope the move goes well! Let me know if there's anything I can help with! It makes for a good excuse to take a road trip and scout out housing...

    Wait, WHAT?!?!

This is a regular occurence in case you hadn't noticed yet. On the other hand, sarcasm + internet = bound to be misunderstood by at least some people.

    Missing the point.

I'd much rather have more new pieces across the board than just for the Bionicle theme, even if it is my favorite. A lot of the developments of late for System lines have been absolutely fantastic.

    Rose City Comic Con

If you think you have to be some definition of 'visually appealing' to make or wear awesome stuff, think again. :b Look up 'Ryan Wells cosplay' for just one example - the guy's stuff is amaaaaazing. (And he's based in the PNW so you might have seen his stuff there somewhere!)

    name change

Given I dressed up as her twice, just bought the whole series all at once, and it's one of maybe two dozen movies I even own, I'd say I might like it a little. :v

    Commissions!

I'll be honest, you're kind of underselling your work, which is sad to see. I know pricing commissions online is hard but I hope you try charging by time investment.
  11. I'm curious about ski-dude's head. I count 19 visible pieces so the last part would have to be a single part on the end of that axle holding the head... I guess I should enter soon. :B
  12. I didn't read the article itself, but per your remarks it sounds like his opinion towards AFOLS is "You're a nerd (and I secretly like that, but would rather insult you and look cool)".

    Hot Dog Army

I have one... I also have a hot dog suit, if you'd like to match them.
  14. As previously stated, the model is built to be fox-like, and is built from a pre-existing design. Her body structure is meant to be more akin to a greyhound / maned fox, and the tail longer than the rest of her body. I understand that it isn't proper to a classic fox, but strictly speaking she isn't one. I do hope with a future redesign to make her tail appear more lifted, although for balance's sake it will still need to touch the ground somewhere along it. Thank you for the compliment. ^^
  15. I was going to write a similar blog, but you put it so perfectly. I think that the entirety of how we have changed as a group can be summed up into a single example: It was Sunday during the public hours, and most of us were around as well as some members that came via public entry. For several hours straight, bubbles of discussion and friend groups would amass here and there, but they kept moving. Gleaning off each other. People walking from one group into another and joining the conversation without a single hiccup or change of tone. Everyone had their preferred circle, but we were all welcome in any of them. I don't think there's a single convention in the past I've attended that worked that well... between friend groups, between coasts, or even between staff and non-staff. I used to try getting to the bottom of what caused rifts between these, but soon gave up because it seemed everyone was determined to continue acting that way. It's nice to see the fruits of.... well, all of us growing up, really. Learning to not just accept people, but welcome and respect them no matter who they are or how well you know them. I'm really glad that I got to go, and that I got to make and strengthen relationships with both new and old acquaintances. I really think this convention changed the face of the whole 'Bionicle fan experience' for me - I've liked seeing friends from time to time, but now I can honestly say... I love you guys. I cherish this Brickfair so much, and I can't wait for the next chance to hang out. Pat, you know I respect you for a lot of things, but I really respect how well you've been able to reflect on this. I think we all have, but it's wonderful to see and read. You're a good one. ^^
  16. I've always known you were a sweetheart, and I'm glad I actually got to witness your personality and your wonderful heart in person. I will ALWAYS be available for support and an open ear (and hugs when we can!). You're the sweetest. :3
  17. I'd definitely be in for extending ANY convention just to hang out with people. Maybe when more people congregate in Portland *ahem* we can just hang out for extra time around BCascade. Same for BFVA of course. And if it's somewhere we can cook I would TOTALLY just host a big delicious taco night. Because tacos. <3 It seems everyone wishes they could've spent more time with everyone, so extended vacation should totally be a plan. Or maybe a BZP road trip. We can dream!

    Brickfair and Beyond

Oh lord, I don't remember much of what I said during that game, but I know it was definitely more than I should've said. And the guy who sat in front of me let me know the next day that I actually slapped him in the face for smack-talking. I don't remember. :I At any rate, it was still fun and it was very entertaining to get home and find out my bricks from the build were sticky from spilled drink. XD To every single one of you I met, though, I was very glad to. And of course whether I saw you a lot or a little, I look forward to seeing you more. ^^

    500 posts

That's okay, it has apparently taken me 11.5 years to reach 800 posts... so we're around the same rate. :b I'm sure almost all of my posts have been within the art section.

    Brickfair and Beyond

I didn't expect to be at BrickFair this year, but it happened. It ended up being really convenient for work, so they paid for my flight here (I'm still in DC meeting a client for a couple of days). The convention itself was alright. The public attendance was pretty sad, and the only event I got to partake in was an adult swim event, which meant more of what we were already doing all the other nights... :b As always, there were many interesting MOCs to see and I brought mine, which ultimately ended up with winning my first BF award (Best Non-Humanoid). Everyone has been so nice about it, both in person and online, and it's been overwhelmingly amazing. Makes me want to MOC more often, heheh... We also got to go to the Lego store, which of course led to buying every brand new Bionicle set (and another one besides that). I'm saving to build them til I get home, which means figuring out how to pack them should be interesting. But the main reason I went, as always with conventions, was people. And wow, was it a good year. I got surrounded by several other artists, all of whom are fantastically more talented than me and the fact that I actually got two collabs going just blows my mind. Completely. I got to meet people I've been waiting to meet and people I never thought I would... and oh my goodness you are all such cinnamon rolls and I love you. Susanna, Vance, Christie, Corvin, Yanni, the list goes on and the only reason I don't name every single one of you is because I am so terrible with names, of which everyone basically has two to try remembering. XD I also got to solidify friendships with people I'd already met before. Both this and the previous point are absolutely mind-blowing when I think about it. I get to know these people. I get to actually talk to these people, and they actually care to talk back. It's both humbling and wonderful and oh gosh stop it tears no you're not supposed to happen ... *deep breath* Anyway. As with any gathering of a lot of people and the changing of things over time, there was a bit of drama. But the nice thing is, everyone involved is still great and I have high hopes for things to get better. And comparatively speaking, this one was quite low on drama and had the most recoveries that I've seen. I do apologize for one thing... I said too much. Like, quite a few times. Especially when I didn't have my wits about me. And I'm sorry if it hurt anyone. But... that being said I still think this con began, ended, and almost entirely ran on a good note. I don't know what else to say. I wish I could see many of you more often, and in a year or two maybe I will move and at least make that possible for a few people (I've had many open ideas on where to move, but now one or two have definitely moved to the top of my list). But I am so, so beyond-myself thankful that I even got to have this time with each of you. It was incredible.
  22. Thanks for letting me know. I am rather annoyed that rule changes don't get reflected in the main posts of pinned rule topics. The original design is here.
  23. I spent a good portion of my membership here making 75 comics, at least 60 of which weren't even funny. Also, I think my first post/topic was against the rules, religion or politics or something. So I started off my time here with a warning. Whoops?
  24. If you just post the image itself, you should be fine. If you think it's that questionable, you might just upload it to something else like Flickr, Brickshelf, Google +, or DA. But, really, most things should be fine, unless the URL itself is blocked by the word filter. The image was drawn by someone else, and posted on DA (which I assumed isn't allowed because it has comments/forums), and I'm not going to rip it off and put it elsewhere. On the other hand, I have a tattoo of her as well so I could just take and post a picture of that instead.
