  1. ...Or sometimes "Les Quatre Freres des Lames," or sometimes with accent marks, or both... Les Quatre Freres de Lame were the first important group of sentient Spirits shown in the Bioni-Lords story--Obscura, BionicleKeyblade, Language, and Zodiakai. When each one seeks out a human ally and come into contact with each other, a great disaster is on the horizon, and more often than not they make the difference between victory and defeat but don't live through it. And the truth is...they're just something I made up as I went along. If you've read the lecture on the Origins of Bioni-Lords, you're familiar with Obscura's origins. Since he was the first Orb/Spirit/Bionimon/etc made by someone other than me, I thought he deserved an appearance in the story, so when I was coming up with Nikari I decided to give him Obscura. Ironically, due to Nikari's nature and sacrifice, that Obscura's voice was never heard and Obscura has had the least presence of any of Les Quatre Freres de Lame, to the point where he's the only one without a Super Spirit form. With another Gathering taking place in Book 3, I hope to give Obscura a bit more spotlight, which I feel he deserves. And yes, there will be a Super Spirit form eventually, but even that involves another Spirit as well... BionicleKeyblade started as a MoC I made in my intial Kingdom Hearts craze and was converted into a Spirit when, after a Spirit Design contest (in the days where there had to be a contest for designs to be sent in), I decided to put in all 3 entries but wanted to keep the final number of Spirits even. It was the first Spirit I had made that wasn't based on a Bionicle, so I wanted to feature it, and BionicleKeyblade was thrown into the story and somehow ended up becoming Khadaz's signature Orb. I was a bit unsure about giving him a name--I thought it might be inconsistent if, right near the end of the Book, we change "BionicleKeyblade" to "Vinxeng" (which was originally meant to be a Makuta name). I decided to go ahead and give him a name, and then I decided to give names to each of the individual Freres. I can't completely remember where I got the idea to make Twilight Sage, but it may have just been an attempt to make battles more over-the-top. Or it could have something to do with a feeling that robes were somehow more appropriate for Khadaz's older self as opposed to BionicleKeyblade's hastily thrown together armor...*shrug*. The abilities of Twilight Sage were intended to be an advanced state of Elemental Powers, but now I realize it's a bit too Mage-like for Khadaz's Warrior style...if only Neya had sent me the Dread Paladin idea sooner! When I started introducing Spirits based on Anime characters, I got the idea to turn to Pokemon, Unown specifically. Unown is a Pokemon I've always been interested in since they form their own alphabet (which, I will admit, I went to the trouble of learning and using), but they ARE among the weakest of Pokemon...they can only learn one move. Just one. I wanted them to have a presence in Bioni-Lords, but because I wanted them to be more buffed up the result is pretty much unrecognizable--a Toa-sized warrior with a sword who wears Krana. I decided to call it "Language" since it had forms based on the alphabet, and each one has an alphabetical attack because I wanted to expand that feature--Unown had little if any difference between forms aside from their shape. Language was a last-minute addition to the Freres, and I think the only reason he became a candidate was because I gave one to Norscu in my late desire to feature the Spirit. Language also has had fairly little spotlight, with Language X appearing once in Book 1 and Language Supreme not appearing until very late in Book 2, but he'll be rather important in the Gathering that takes place in Book 3. As for Kotoba, I'm not really sure what made be decide to make his ally female...maybe an attempt to balance the gender ratio and earn at least one female reader. This is a bit of a spoiler, but Zenrei and Kotoba display a technique in an upcoming chapter that's based on the crystal effect the Unown produce in the third Pokemon movie--you'll know it when you see it, but if you'd read it without knowing what it's based on it might've seemed kind of random. A lot of my friends are into Anime as well, and they have introduced me to some new series. One of which is "Fruits Basket"...which I'm almost embarrassed to admit since it is in fact a shojo manga (aimed toward girls). Don't judge me. I enjoyed the characters and the magic component. That magic component involves the Chinese Zodiac, and since I tend to obsess over a series once I start reading/watching/playing it, I became very interested in the Chinese Zodiac, to the point where I developed a set of techniques based on the animal signs involved. I also inlcuded the Cat, which is not a part of the Chinese Zodiac, but, as I learned from reading Fruits Basket, there are legends to explain why the cat isn't a part of the Zodiac. I needed to do something with these techniques, and since Bioni-Lords is always on my mind I decided to give them to a Spirit. Zodiakai's name is an obvious corruption of "Zodiac", his armor colors (black and gold) just seemed a good fit (maybe because they're the color of space and stars?), the Kanohi Arthron is one of the most epic-looking masks ever (in my opnion), the cape was added to give him more epicness, and Jaller Mahri's sword...*shrug*. I also gave him the Rasengan, which is a technique from Naruto that I wanted to try and make a fairly standard Rahaga-type attack, but the bulk of his moveset is comprised of Zodiac Style attacks, and I decided it would (somehow) make sense for him to be a "Toa of the Chinese Zodiac". Since I had already established the habit of giving Toatoa only Toa Spirits and was giving new Spirits to the main characters again, I decided to give Zodiakai a chance to be featured, and since he came in right when I was considering Les Quatre Freres de Lame he got the job. I still feel it was a little...awkward to just suddenly give him a voice and name (but no spotlight) right at the end of Book 1, but it's not something I can easily change. The Ju-San Seishin were thought up because I was a little obsessed with the idea of Super Spirits after designing Twilight Sage, and Sohma Xotaku was thought up when I realized I prefer writing one-on-one duels. "Sohma" is the name of the family in Fruits Basket under the Zodiac curse, and his technique "Yume no Enkai" (Banquet of Dreams) is a reference to the legend that the Zodiac animals were all called to a banquet, and the order in which they arrived is the order in which they appear in the Zodiac. With Khadaz using BionicleKeyblade, Nikari and his Obscura fresh in our memory, Toatoa getting Zodiakai, and Language X showing up in Norscu's roster, I realized that I had four Rahaga-type, sword-wielding Orbs in close proximity to each other, and I decided to capitalize on that by giving them some sort of great importance. Thus, "Les Quatre Freres de Lame" was created. Why is the name in French, you ask? Because I was coming up with this during my first year of French class. If there are any further questions about Les Quatre Freres de Lame, or requests for future Bioni-Lords Lecture topics, please leave a comment!
  2. I think it still sounds fun! Much more concrete than Bionimon's abstract system.
  3. Originally, Mairi was just Obscura. The new Mairi in Bioni-Lords will be something...more.
  4. I've tried everything I can think of, but I can't find the topic. I think it may have been deleted...sorry.
  5. First off, I should tell you I've updated the Spirit Index. It's not quite complete as of this typing, but there's only a handful to add and I should get to that soon. I haven't gotten a chapter up yet, and while I'll try to get that up by the end of the week you just might have to wait until next week...sorry. But! Since I am now writing Sekai's final arc, I decided now would be a great time to give you all a preview of just what's in store! I'm giving you brief previews of the rest of Draco-Isle, Lost Continent 12, Sekai's Ending, Book 3, and BIONICLE: The Forgotten Bond! No excerpts, sorry, but it should be enough to get you excited! 6. After months as a Prinny I was restored to normal, and one trip through the Void later I ended up in the world of Final Fantasy! So, naturally, I went to Cornelia to become a knight. (...I love Final Fantasy ) Ahem...but, on to updates. Later today, the Technic Coliseum tournament will begin! (Would do it now, but...working on a school computer; can't shuffle name slips right now.) I'm cutting down on the allowed time to procrastinate this time--rather than waiting a week before giving you a one-week warning, the one-week warning will be posted with the match announcements. I'm writing Sekai 131 right now--the Medallion battles are complete, and now we have moved on to the Cuerveracios temple. This may be the last chapter in the Draco-Isle arc--most of the action at the temple will be showed in the incredibly long "Ending" arc. Dissidia 012 is out now, so I'm greatly distracted, plus my aunt will be in town this week, but I'll try to give you at least one new chapter of Sekai. Next chapter starts the second day on Draco-Isle, which begins with Hyohana vs Aile and further develops the story with the Devil Squad. Voting in the RPG contest has begun, and it seems absolute that Ihu's Blessing will fail. Might put it in the RPG Planning Topic, might just give up... Don't think I've made any Forgotten Bond progress since my last entry...sorry. Also, for one of my classes we had to create a newspaper front page, and, having so few ideas, I decided to make a semi-cannon Bioni-Lords newspaper. ( ) Very odd, yes? I could probably find a way to get it on Majhost, so...would you guys be interested in seeing it? (Heads up, though: it's pretty lame.)
  7. RPG Contest 21 has opened up...and I have entered. Project Kaizen Mk. III: Ihu's Blessing It's based on Greek mythology, with the Toa functioning as gods and goddesses. Onua, Toa of the Earth, wishes Bionicles and humans to form stronger bonds, so he discovered a way to create humans with Bionicle-like powers: demi-Toa. Players will create a demi-Toa and engage humans, Rahkshi, and other demi-Toa in battle, shooting for whatever goal they want. Just be prepared, in case a powerful enemy shows up... Of course, this is only an entry. It needs to be one of the winners before people can actually play it. I have been working on Sekai. I want to finish the chapter I'm on and then write two more before getting back to typing. (This will put me through most of the Medallion Battles and another important battle.) Draco-Isle looks like it's going to end in the early 130s, and Lost Continent 12 will only be two chapters, so the Ending arc will likely begin in the mid-130s. No clue where it'll end. Forgotten Bond is at Chapter 21. This is a 'down-time' chapter, not very exciting; haven't gotten very far in it, but once I do I can go right into the next scenario, which will slide seamlessly into the final battle scenario. After that, a chapter or two of wrap-up, and after that, I begin typing. Also, the Technic Coliseum tournament finally ended, so Hero Factory 2.0 characters are now available, along with Vahki. By the way, I might not be on all that much over the next month or two. Pokemon White Version has most of my attention right now, and later in the month I'll be obsessing over Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, plus after that is the Nintendo 3DS...but I will get on the computer at least once a day, and I'll try to set some time aside to type some Sekai. You know, once I get a few more chapters written.
  8. Probably, though I can't be 100% sure what Spirits I'll be using.
  9. School is back at full power, so I have a lot more work piled on me that requires my attention. Because of this, I've had less time to work on my stories. The last chapter in Sekai seemed like a good "season finale," so I've decided to take a break until I have a few more chapters written. I don't know how often I'll have the opportunity, and having one long break between arcs seemed better than multiple long(ish) breaks between chapters. I'm currently writing Chapter 123. My first thought is to complete all of the Draco-Isle Medallion battles before typing and posting again, but...we'll see. (Unfortunately, this means it'll be virtually impossible for me to be where I wanted by the second anniversary...well, hopefully the story will be done before summer gets here...) Some updates for the Orb Index should be coming soon. I have a handful of Orbs ready to be added, so I just need to find the time. As for Forgotten Bond...well, that hasn't seen much if any progress in some time. I'm right in the middle of chapter 18, but a bit stuck on how to proceed, and with the whole time issue... I have composed an outline for the rest of the story, though. I still don't know how many more chapters it'll take, but the end is more or less in sight. Can't wait to share it with you guys! Also...I've been doing a bit of planning and brainstorming on Kako. This mostly involves the Element-Lords--names, numbers, and Spirits. Quite a few familiar faces will be returning, but their rosters of Spirits have been changed. The other topic I've been thinking about is the new group of Spirits that will be featured in Kako. Book 1 introduced Les Quatre Freres des Lames, Book 2 introduced the Twilight Guardians, and Book 3...well, you'll just have to wait and see. Les Quatre Freres des Lames will have a big part, however--as Vinxeng said at the end of Book 1, there was a Gathering right before the 10th Level Bioni-Lord rose to power, which is the exact time frame where Kako takes place. The Twilight Guardians may not be featured all that much, but odds are they'll make an appearance or two. The Technic Coliseum tournament is at its final match, so we'll get our new recruits soon! And for those of you who remember the old Bioni-Lords game and/or would like to see it return...upon becoming a Premier Member, I considered the idea, but I thought that Bioni-Lords would be better as an RPG than a game. So, I modified the concept a bit and produced Bioni-Lords Kaizen, which completely failed in the RPG contest. Since then, however, I've been continuing "Project Kaizen" and trying to create a Bioni-Lords-inspired RPG capable of winning the contest. Kaizen Mk II seemed like it may have stood a chance, but in truth I just didn't like it, so it never saw the light of day. However, about the time of the last contest I got a new idea, and though I didn't finish it in time to enter I took it and ran with it. Project Kaizen Mk III will be entered into the next RPG contest (providing it doesn't have a theme), and I dearly hope it will win some support... Even on this 'break' I'm still working and planning things for the future. Hopefully, you'll get to see the results soon.
  10. I just posted Sekai Chapter 111, which begins the Volt-Isle arc. Selina takes on Thunder-Lord Tonnira. The websites have been updated, too. Although I now have a few more Spirits who should be on the list soon...ish. I've written out the entire Volt-Isle arc, which goes through Chapter 118, and I'm almost done with Chapter 119, which is the only chapter of the Lost Continent 11 arc. Chapter 120 will start Draco-Isle. We also have a Technic Coliseum tournament going on right now, which has potential for some interesting matches. Once this tournament is over we'll be recruiting the Vahki, the "Fire Villains", and Evo and Nex (1.0), plus we'll be getting the Core Transplant which will let Hero Factory heroes upgrade to 2.0. I haven't done work in Forgotten Bond for a little while, trying to wait until I get a really good idea of how things need to proceed. Hopefully I can continue it soon.
  11. It's a New Year, which apparently is a magical reset button that changes everything, which is why we all resolve to do something new that we apparently couldn't do until hitting the reset button. "That was easy"...but anyway. 2011 means I'm going to start talking about Bioni-Lords Book 3: Kako. The subtitle, "Kako", is a Japanese word meaning "past". That's right. Book 3 is a flashback book! Book 3 takes place around 1274-1275 A.B.L., approximately 20 years before Book 1. Khadaz's parents, Genakex and Xyla, are main characters in this one, so it completes what I call "The Ikhav Trilogy," and the main point is to show what things were like before the 10th Level Bioni-Lord came to power. Right before. As in, immediately before. (Strong hinting over.) I'll probably adress a few other points as Sekai reaches its end, but for now that's all I'm saying about Kako. Oh, except this: DON'T SEND IN ANY GUEST STARS OR PLOT IDEAS. I have some ideas and guest star slots, but don't call me. I'll call you. Sekai is currently on a bit of a hold so I can work on the websites. The Main Site has been updated, although I'm considering a few more things...please give me feedback on the content of the website. As for the Orb Index, I have about 211 Spirits to put up, plus I want to make a Navigation page, so...could take a little while. But I've already started writing the Volt-Isle arc. It'll probably be pretty short, and I'm skipping a few Medallion battles almost entirely. As said earlier in the book, Nuhvok won't be attacking while the kids are on Volt-Isle, but there is another Twilight Guardian temple there... And if you've seen my sig, you know that I've decided to finally drop a hint towards The Forgotten Bond. The line under the banner, saying that "Coming Soon" means "sometime between now and 2013" is a bit exaggerated--I'm hoping to get The Forgotten Bond up within 2011, but I'm going to give myself 2012 as a margin for error. I should hurry, because the sequel ideas won't shut up... Anyway, Happy New Year everyone! Hope it's a great one for you!
  12. Turns out my Letters From the Void got lost in the mail. What's worse is that while wandering the Void, I ended up in the Disgaea universe and got killed, so I trned into a Prinny. Being a Prinny is NOT fun. But...back in the real world. I'm beginning to think that I'm going to have to push back the deadline for Sekai--it probably won't be done by the second anniversary. I'll try to finish it as soon as I can--Lost Continent 10, 11, and 12 are all really short, and I'm not planning to put too much on Volt-Isle. Draco-Isle...not entirely sure right now. And the ending arc will be long, very, very long... I'm so sorry that there's so much in Sekai. It's overcrowded and it's just a mess, really. I'll do what I can to cut down the volume of Book 3, and Book 4 will definitely be shorter but might be a bit cluttered...meh, we'll get to that when we get to it. Speaking of Book 3, I believe that in an earlier entry I said I would begin dropping hints about it in 2011? Check back here some time in January if you're interested. Back to Sekai, then--I have some free time this week, so I should be able to get a new chapter typed and posted. There is something else I'm doing with my computer time right now, though, so...Wednesday? Maybe? I do need to make some site edits, but I think I'll put those off until we get to Volt-Isle. Just some profiles, a few miscellaneous articles, and a Spirit or two, plus some updates to the Story Arcs page to keep it up to date. But if you're not interested in Bioni-Lords, I have some other news. Remember the other story I announced on this blog? "BIONICLE: The Forgotten Bond"? I've been doing some work on it as well, and I'm just about to start Chapter 12. Right now I can't predict how many chapters it will take, but I garuntee you that it'll be shorter than a Bioni-Lords book. All of the villains are together and we're about to bring together two groups of heroes, and once that happens I can get on to the next few scenarios. This is also the point in development where I'm beginning to think up short story and sequel ideas. Once Forgotten Bond is almost if not entirely finished, I'll begin posting it on BZPower, and after it's over and I see what kind of reception it gets I'll decide if I'll be doing any related stories. Part of me wants to begin giving hints about it, but I also want it to be a surprise... Meh, no one's reading this anyway.
  13. If by some chance this letter shall be read by anyone, I offer this piece of advice: never go seeking a Void-controlling warrior unless someone or something with magical powers says you're destined to do so. I am Exo-Pahrak, formerly honored with the title of "Kal Titan," but unfortunately I made the horrible mistake of taking on a mission I was not prepared for. In pursuit of a Void Saber, a sword capable of cleaving reality, I hunted down my world's static portal to the Void and grappled with its protector, Silhouette Panrahk. He was stronger than I was expecting, however, and I was cast into the Void. This realm of 'nothingness' isn't what I expected: there are bits of rubble floating here and there, along with thousands of star-like points of light. Not to mention all the creatures wandering its depths...I've had close encounters with both the dreaded Shinryu and the fearsome Omega. Worst of all is the current, a destructive force trying to pull me in all directions at once, seeping through my body and tearing at my very soul. The Void is perilous indeed, but...I can't allow myself to just fade away. I am now Exo-Pahrak, Void Nomad, and one day I shall find my way out of this world of emptiness.
  14. I've been taking some classes at college for a while now, and this semester I'm taking a "Writing for the Web" class. One of our projects is to create a fake homepage for a fictional business, and I thought I may as well see if the Bioni-Lords website would fit well enough. It seemed incredibly unlikely, but...it did. The Bioni-Lords website, Exo's Desk V2, is about to be submitted for review to my college professor. For obvious reasons, this inspired me to make lots of updates, to both Exo's Desk V2 and the Spirit Index. I added paragraphs to both main pages that show the date of the latest update, and the Spirit Index now includes a Color-coding Key and a link to Exo's Desk. Exo's Desk has a link to the Spirit Index, links to every Bioni-Lords story (minus the Halloween one...I have disowned it ), a "What's on This Page?" paragraph on most pages, and a few other edits. And if you read the last chapter of Sekai, you'll know that Jungle and Psionics are now Elements. I've added them to the Elements page on Exo's Desk V2, although there isn't quite as much information as with the others, and soon I'll start editing the pages on the Spirit Index to show which Spirits and attacks have these new Elements. All this time I've been complaining about how school hinders my work with Bioni-Lords. Irony strikes again!
  15. Well between school and life I haven't been able to get much of anything done, have I? Life snuck up on me while my back was turned and started shooting at me, so I was at a bit of a disadvantage and needed to find cover. Of course, once I found cover Life kept shooting and I couldn't find an opening, and it was quite some time before I could step out long enough to deflect some bullets with my sword and get closer, but once that started I gained momentum and eventually got up to Life, cut off his arm, and knocked him out cold. I dropped him off at the hospital with a note addressed to him saying, "Don't mess with the nest." ...Get it? Nest? Because I'm a Bohrok? ... But anyway, hopefully the next chapter of Sekai will be up this week. I've gotten real far behind on that, but I'm still hoping to finish it before (or not far after) the two year mark. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that goes... I hope you guys like this next scenario. It's still in the Lost Continent 9 arc, and it focuses on Khadaz and Norscu and everyone investigating the Dark Knights' castle. How can they do something like that, you ask? You'll see. B) BIONICLE: The Forgotten Bond has made some good progress, though it will still be a while before I put it online. Besides this and Sekai there are a few other stories I'm working on (for use on other websites), but they're almost done so that may create some more time for both Sekai and Forgotten Bond. And Technic Coliseum...I really need to get better at making frequent updates on that. Registration for the next tournament should begin this week, and once that's over we'll have new recruits and equipment--I'll be making some items for Hero Factory heroes available, sorry it took so long. As for the recruits I don't want to say, but you can probably guess who they are and what equipment they might be needing. And the Krana Xa-Kal...I've still got nothing. Its only storyline function is to wake up the Bahrag--how do you turn that into a battle item? Any suggestions would be welcome. I've also been considering a name change, but I kind of like "Exo-Pahrak Kal Titan"...my new idea was "Paladin Panrahk." I'll have to give that some thought...just saying, I might become someone new sometime soon. Not sure when I'll go back to being an Exo-Zadakh. But that's all I have to say. Until next time!
  16. I'd like to see the story through to the end, plus I am finding writing on a team to be an interesting experience. Every story deserves to be finished, right?
  17. It's understandable, Mangai. It's been a pleasure working with you, and we'll do our best to make the idea you gave us a winning entry! Well, the contest is over. Now the question is: are we going to continue the story or not?
  18. No, I posted and then AZ posted, so now it's Mangai's turn.
  19. What's this? Exo-Zadakh has become Exo-Pahrak? Oh, wait, no one cares lol As usual, I have stuff to say about Sekai! Chapter 90 just went up the other day, and that's the end of the Mutant-Isle arc. Since I have a long weekend I may be able to get you into the Lost Continent 9 arc real soon! The main website is...semi-up-to-date, and as of this typing the Orbs List is complete. I'm attempting to write the first chapter of Fe-Isle, which is going, eh...okay I suppose. I have a few events planned for this island, just not sure how to space it all out so that it works...oh, and Chapter 100 probably won't be anything special, sorry. In BIONICLE: The Forgotten Bond, I've made it past the writer's block I had and right now I'm working on Chapter 4. I'm so far, right? I'm actually a little concerned about how it'll be received...in the first chapter it appears to be a type of story that some people will probably reject, but it's more expanded than it seems at first glance. Also, in case anyone reading this doesn't know that I'm working with some excellent writers in the Library Summer Olympics Epics Unlimited Relay, check out the Team 4 Story Topic to read Shattered Obsidian! I should probably get this out of the way. *ahem* As some of you may know, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is coming out soon, and even though I think the voice acting is atrocious (compared to the Japanese voice acting, at least) I'm still getting it. What this means is that I'll be spending a bit less time on the computer because I'll be busy playing this game. I'll try to get on at least once a day, though, and if at all possible I'll take some time to set down the PSP and type up some Sekai.
  20. My thoughts were something like this: Ijonuu may have been an Order member who was near Johmak's island on a mission, and Johmak saw the intruder and attacked. After the battle Ijonuu could have invited Johmak into the Order, and then became a mentor of sorts as they went on missions for years. Fastforward a bit and Ijonuu and Johmak are battling and etc etc, Ijonuu dies, Johmak shuns her warrior nature and becomes a pseudo-pacifist.
  21. So will Johmak have her 'crystal cloud' ability before joining the Order, or does she get it after joining?
  22. Hm...well there could always be a Makuta attacking the island, but that might not be the most original path. There could be Skakdi involved, or maybe Visorak or Rahkshi or something...whatever it is, perhaps during the battle Johmak and Ijonuu are fighting the same foe, and as Ijonuu is attacking Johmak launches a strike that ends up hitting Ijonuu?
  23. The idea on the species is good--adds some irony to the situation; with the Matoran, I suppose the story would then switch between flashbacks and the present? And will these flashbacks be just Johmak referring to the events, or is it going to be a full flashback with dialouge and everything?
  24. I like the idea; go ahead and start. Do we have any specifics on how the plot is going to go yet, or are we just going to make it up as we go along?
