  1. The Fanfic Exchange, where ideas are supplied and fics are written, is tons of fun. But why wait for it to come around once a year? What if there was a way to keep the party going all the time? Meet the Fanfic Prompt Meme. It's simple: PM me with a prompt of what you'd like to see somebody write a Bionicle fanfic about, and I'll post it in this topic. See a prompt you want to write? No need to make any formal claims: just go ahead and write your story, post it when you're ready, and PM me with the prompt it's written for. I'll add a link to your story in the prompt's post. Tada! Destiny fulfilled. Not only is there no time limit to filling a prompt, there's no limit on how many people can post fills, either. If you see something you want to write just go for it! It's a party and everyone's invited. Plus, every month, everyone who posted a fill that month will be in a draw for free Lego! The prompt meme will be a permanent installation. If you have any questions, please PM me and I'll answer them in the following post. Let's get to it!

  3. While there's a lot of things I love about the Fanfic Exchange, I've been taking some time to work out some of the kinks for the third one. I've just about got the answers, though, so stay tuned!

Congratulations to the winners, thanks to everyone who entered, and we'll see you next contest!
  5. Official BBC Contest #77: Concept Convention Contest! It's the classic story of "oh, what could have been." For every final product we see, there's countless concepts that led up to it, or could have been there instead, or very nearly made it to shelves too. There's something about concept art that stirs the imagination. And most of the time, that's where it has to stop: the imagination. For better or for worse, these are the designs that didn't make it to the end. Why not do something about that? For this contest, build a MOC based on Lego's concept art. Here's some sources to get you started:http://bzpower.com/story.php?ID=9103http://en.brickimedia.org/wiki/Concept_Arthttps://lego.fandom.com/wiki/Concept_Art(Other sources are fine, as long as you link to them.) Plus, if you'll take a look at the calendar, you'll see it's that time of year again: Brickfair contest time! The final round of voting will take place both on BZP and at Brickfair Virginia, where we will also display the finalists! There's no time like the present to dive into the past - get building! ------------------------- You have from now until Saturday, June 29th at 11:59 P.M. Eastern to submit your entries. It can be posted anywhere else before the contest, but it must never have been seen before on BZPower. Once entered, entries cannot be modified: you're committed to what you've entered. If you withdraw your entry, you cannot enter again that contest. If your entry is disqualified, you cannot enter again that contest. 2) Painted parts, non-LEGO parts, and parts edited in Photoshop are not permitted and will disqualify you. All other LEGO pieces are permitted, but the entry must be at least 75% Bionicle/Hero Factory/Technic. 3) Keep it clean, keep it civil. No flaming, no whining. Unsporting conduct will just get you disqualified. 4) Campaigning for votes (mass-PMing, etc), using multiple accounts to skew voting, and sundry other methods of cheating are only going to end in tears for you. 10. Alright, folks, we're extending the deadline to Sunday, March 24 at 11:59 PM Eastern. Get to it!
  11. The Brick Badge Contest (you can also build Bionicles on it)
  12. So we can put literally anything - Lego or otherwise - on our badge? Seems a bit unorthodox. Is there a (rough) ratio of Lego to non-Lego that would disqualify an entry (similar to the usual 85/15 constraction-to-System ratio for BBC contests)? I changed the rule this time around on account of you're going to have things like magnets and such to make it a wearable badge. I'd say any non-essential use of non-Lego components is going to attract scrutiny.
  13. The Brick Badge Contest It's the symbol of Lego conventions worldwide: the brick badge. It takes the badge ribbon seen at countless non-brick conventions and puts a buildable spin on it. Not only can you tell everyone what your name is, you can tell them who you are; where you're from, what groups you belong to, your favourite themes, what cons you've been to, your stance on Galidor... But why stop at words? Your badge is made of Lego! You can customize the whole dang thing! Build on top, below, within, behind, and two inches in front of your badge bricks with the mini creations that express who you are! Think past the engraved brick and look to the rest of your collection to make a badge that's truly yours, and you could win fantastic prizes! That's right, this convention is all about customizing your brick badge. Take those bricks you've collected over the years (or use 1x8s as stand-ins if you haven't been yet) and just go absolutely wild with building on your badge. I'd recommend sticking to a creation you could possibly wear on your own human body, though, but I'll leave it up to you what you can manage. Speaking of your own human body: if you're going to be at Brickfair North Carolina the weekend of March 23, why not pop by with your fancy badge? You could get to show it off on BZP's social media accounts, and maybe even get some free Lego (supplies limited) for your trouble! We'll have more details closer to the convention, so stay tuned! So go ahead and let us know: who are you? ------------------------- You have from now until Sunday, March 10th at 11:59 PM Eastern to submit your entry. To submit your entry, just use this handy form. Only one entry per person, please! ------------------------- Voting: Preliminary Voting begins March 12th and ends March 15th at 11:59 P.M. EST. Final Voting begins March 15th and ends March 17th at 11:59 P.M. EST. The contest winner and final voting results will be posted in a separate thread on March 18th. ------------------------- Rules: 1. Modified Lego elements and non-Lego components are permitted. It's a short contest otherwise! Don't abuse this rule, though; it's still a Lego building contest, after all. 2. You can edit your entry picture to remove any identifying details from your badge you'd like. We're here for the decoration, so you shouldn't have to broadcast your info to participate. You can also use blank 1x8 bricks to stand in for engraved bricks. 3. One entry per person, please. If you've entered but wish to withdraw your entry, you will not be able to re-enter with a new badge. If you've been disqualified, you will not be able to re-enter. 4. Keep it clean, keep it civil. No flaming, no whining. Unsporting conduct will just get you disqualified. 5. Campaigning for votes (mass-PMing, etc), using multiple accounts to skew voting, and sundry other methods of cheating are only going to end in tears for you. Trust us: we'll know when you're doing it. ------------------------- Prizes: The first-place winner will receive a 75532 Scout Trooper & Speeder Bike and 75121 Imperial Death Trooper. The second-place winner will receive a 75111 Darth Vader and 75531 Stormtrooper Commander. The third-place winner will receive a 75117 Kylo Ren and 75529 Elite Praetorian Guard. Thanks to LEGO for the prizes! (Note: Unless specifically requested, all sets will be shipped without boxes.) ------------------------- Contest Host: Tufi Piyufi Get out there and build already!
  14. All the support is in Black Six's garage (by a small miracle), and once he stops bouncing all over the place in a couple weeks, we'll be able to talk prize distribution.
  15. This is extremely inappropriate and not welcome on BZP. Topic closed.
  16. A reminder that this is an officially-endorsed strategy and that posting the first part at the end of the month qualifies you as a successful participant; besides, your recipient probably won't be upset they're getting more story later! As well, I'm extending the posting period to Monday, February 4 to make up for the time in December that mysteriously vanished. Again, if you're not sure you can make it by then, just let me know.
  17. BBC Contest #76: No Eight-Legged Freaks! Results! 1. >>> Paleo with Bota Magnan Glow Spider (8 votes, 11 in preliminary voting) 2. >>> Primus with AROHK - Spider Drone (8 votes, 9 in preliminary voting) 3. >>> Pohaturon with Zoli - Le-Wahi Jungle Spider (4 votes) 4. (tie) >>> ...The Chosen One... with Arachnid cyberslamus (2 votes) 4. (tie) >>> Xccj with Fikou-Nui, City of Spiders (2 votes) 6. >>> DanielBrickSon2 with Sentinal of Skull Spiders (1 vote) The first-place tie was decided by the number of votes each entry received in the preliminary round of voting. For winning first place, Paleo will receive a 71316 Umarak the Destroyer and a 1441 Fikou (Tree-Spider). For winning second place, Primus will receive a 70794 Skull Scorpio. For winning third place, Pohaturon will receive a 70793 Skull Basher. Thanks to LEGO for the prizes! First of all, you're all winners for managing to not put eight legs on your entries (good job!). You showed up with all sorts of great takes on the Very Concept of Spiders, all without relying on some silly arbitrary number. Congratulations to our winners, thanks to all who entered, and we'll see you next time!
  18. Honestly, it's whatever you feel confident you can have finished by the time the stories get posted. If you do find yourself racking up the words with no end in sight but a looming deadline, then go ahead and post a Part 1 for the reveal. Here's hoping... I was wondering what was going to happen with participants that didn't hold up their end of the exchange, and I think they've handled it (and the handful of other tweaks from last year, such as giving a more convenient time-frame for writing and submitting) pretty well. I have a feeling that this year's exchange will go really well! I'm thinking about some ways to get the people who missed out on their stories last time caught up, though that probably won't be announced until late in the exchange (don't want to distract anyone from their assignments for this year, of course). You're in!
  19. Sometimes, it's easier to do things for others than it is to do them for yourself. You might have a thousand ideas bouncing around in your head that you'll "eventually" get around to writing, but if somebody gives you a prompt? Now we're cooking. And when the gifts are flying all over the place, it feels even better. That's the BZPower Fanfic Exchange 2018. It's the same idea as last time: sign up and tell us a little something about what you do and don't wantyou'll be assigned somebody to write for and given the intel on themwrite a story you think your recipient would like to readat reveal time, post your storybask in a job well doneHalf the fun is in the surprise, so don't reveal who you're writing for until the end! Another part of the fun is in the constraction set you get for completing your end of the deal. We'll have more details on that closer to the end. You'll have until November 30 to sign up, guaranteeing you will have absolutely no new writing obligations until November ends. I'll match you up by December 7 (if I don't finish before then), and no matter what, you'll have all the way until January 20 to write. Starting on January 21 and going for the whole week, you can start posting your stories for all to see! IF you have any concerns that you might not make it for the week of January 21, please let me know as soon as possible so I know you'll be a bit late. The following members currently owe stories to their 2017 recipients and cannot participate in this exchange: Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)A*PersonAZBlueRove RandomSo come on and sign up - join the party! Rules 1) All stories must follow the BZPower Rules & Guidelines.. Inappropriate or offensive stories will be reprimanded. 2) Bionicle stories and prompts only, please - remember, they're the greatest gift of all! Though this topic is in Short Stories, they can be for any of the subforums (though if you're wild enough to write a full-blown epic, please see rule 5.) 3) If, for whatever reason, you think you might be late or unable to submit a gift, let me know! We can sort through just about anything as long as I know you need a little help. Just leaving your giftee hanging, however, is inadvisable and will carry consequences for you. 4) When posting your story, don't forget to say who it's for! Detective work is not a traditional element of the fanfic exchange. 5) Please don't overextend yourself; a nice short story is fine. At the same time, please make sure your gift is more than a couple of paragraphs. If a prompt really calls to you and you won't be satisfied until you write a whole epic from it, please have at least a first chapter ready to go for January 21st. You'll be able to post the rest at your own pace after that. Schedule You will have from now November 30 to sign up for the exchange. Matches will be sent out December 7. You will have from December 7 to January 20 to write and finish your stories. Midpoint check-in is December 29; let me know what you're writing, or if you need help. After January 21, post your stories! Please try to have them posted between January 21 and January 28, or let me know if you won't be able to get on BZP during that time. In that case, I'll send your story to your giftee so they'll be able to read their gift along with everybody else. (You'll have to send your story to me to make sure that happens, though.) Prizes Successfully fulfilling your part of the exchange means you get a select constraction set of your choice. More details will be available in January. Thanks to LEGO for the vast bounty of sets! Exchange Runner Tufi Piyufi Go on and have fun!
