Something about this irks me to no end. Is it the fact that only 15% of the Makuta were female, or that Greg seems to be insinuating that the female Makuta were... lacking in combative skills compared to male Makuta? Or maybe they were so skilled, they were sent on tons of missions and thus were exposed to more danger? Anyway, 16.67 percent is 1/6, which is the traditional Bionicle female proportion. Speaking of only one tribe being 100% girls, I think the Po-Matoran should have been the females. Gerudo anyone?

I think I agree with somewhere around 90% of this list. The south sucks (accents, music). Kanye West started a hilarious meme. You guys should look up Phi and the Golden Ratio. Even animal bodies follow this ratio. Considering the vast difference between humans and all those animals, I'd say it's fairly safe to assume that plastic robots should follow it too. Especially if they're being sold for profit to an audience accustomed to Phi (even if it's subconsciously). Refer to: DV

Except that up until now it has always been a cultural event. It was one way that people interacted with each other as part of there cultural heritage. The middle school I mentioned is only an example. How do you know that the people committing hate crimes against homos aren't psychopaths? I know you're going to say, "They aren't," but really? You don't know. The news only reports the bad cases, the exceptions. Not the rules. Whatever event is in the news needs to be taken with a grain of salt and thought of as an outlier. 9/11 attacks certainly aren't the rule. Bank robberies don't happen down every street. Hate crimes don't happen to everybody. This only seems to be true because it's an issue that you notice easily.

While it does date a while back, it's always been a social thing. Heck, a middle school in my county went through a trend (just like goth, emo, prep, etc) where a bunch of kids were bi. It is just a social trend. Eventually people will get bored of it and grumble about something else. And as for the hate crimes against heteros argument, I'm sure there are some. It's just that the media reports what the squeaky wheel does. Saying that there have been no hate crimes against heteros is naive. And, for the most part people don't care. We don't want to know what you do with your significant other (hetero or homo), we don't care about your nightlife. There's a reason why PDAs are discouraged.

But using your logic, every hate crime that isn't committed against homo people is a hate crime committed against hetero people. Therefore we need a day.

! (Metal Gear Solid alert here) Black Six is a math person!? Awesome! I love math! I recently began teaching myself calc (specifically derivatives) because my school is so slow and precalc is pretty boring (trig functions are pretty fun, but we've spent so much time on them...). Stats is amazing. I love accurately summarizing data and predicting outcomes! Can't say the same for literature though. But I did understand the jokes. Very nice job. I didn't understand the Hamlet joke, but that's because I haven't read that yet. But I have read at least one Shakespeare play a year for the past five years. The only one I semi-enjoyed was Julius Caesar. I prefer things like Lord of the Flies, Huck Finn, and Brave New World to Shakespeare.

This.^ Many parents aren't so bothered by blood and gore. That's just how it goes. The thing is, I don't see anti-Semitic being thrown around a lot, and I definitely don't see anybody being hurt/punished as hard for it as they would be if they were accused of homophobia. That's all. I didn't mean it in any offensive way, so please don't go taking it as such. I didn't even write it using negative words, or I didn't intend to (for those who take silly as being negative).

We have the rule now because the admins and mods value order over individual rights. Not because they hate you (pl.) or anything, but because too many rights leads to disorder. Disorder on a message board often leads to wasted space. Space costs money. Because the higher ups pay a lot for this, they would rather not see it wasted over individual rights that could potentially cause large conflicts (people have died over this, as you said. Therefore, there is potential for huge conflicts). The point about the term being silly, is that people do start to throw it around and hurt people who really intended no harm. They simply had a differing opinion. That's the concept I was referring to. As for the concept that the word actually describes, everyone dislikes difference and change to some extent. People need know that it effects everyone else and build upon the experience. Everyone faces discrimination, it's not something that one or two groups face. It is an ongoing problem. But at some point, the higher ups, be it the government or the admins, have to decide which laws they need and which they don't. They know that whatever they do will discriminate somebody and make someone somewhere upset, but at the end of the day they need to do something. This is something. To keep the boards here clear, to keep the uncaring majority unaffected by the rants of two minorities, and to save money and time for the people working to keep this site in shape, this rule was made. Yes, it discriminates. Yes, it makes people unhappy. But so do other rules. If it bothers you that much that you can't write a homosexual story about a kid's toy on a kid's website, wait two weeks and see if you actually care. No alarms or calendar appointments. Just see if you can remember on your own. If you're still angry, write a polite letter explaining your troubles to the higher ups. If not, then you really didn't care and this really didn't affect you as much as you thought it did.

I said it's silly because anytime anybody disagrees with homosexuality, "homophobia" is thrown around and people get in trouble because people accuse others of a crime that's not committed. Let's say you disagree with me, so I tell everyone that you cause public disturbances and break the law. It's not fair to you, right? So that's why I call it a silly term, because it is so...unnecessary and destructive. So far a few people have had to write a disclaimer to make sure we don't get burnt by the term. And no one can say that a lot of people disagree with this rule. In any case, the people who feel strongly about this are going to speak up. That's probably what got this rule put in place. A vocal minority that does not like homosexuality. However, it's good to remember that there's only a vocal minority that does not like this rule. We can't say that because there are a lot of complaints about the rule that most people don't want it. There's probably just a vocal minority against the rule. I'm sure that most people just don't care. Just something to keep in mind.

On a side note: Does anyone else dislike the term "close-minded?" I mean, it's a very hypocritical term that in itself is close-minded (for lack of a better term...maybe that's why it's still used). Maybe it's just me. Not picking on you Lyger, lol. It's just something that I thought of. I'm enjoying this discussion. Everybody has intelligent comments with well-educated and logical points for the most part.

ToM, that's a very, very good point. What seem like trivial topics aren't always trivial to everyone else. With Huck Finn, people choose to be offended by the language used. Here, people choose to be offended by something that doesn't effect them (I don't agree with it, for logical reasons, but I'm also not offended by it for logical reasons, lol). In both cases the offensive term/situation is unnecessary, causing the offense to be dealt with in a suitable manner. Granted Huck Finn used it for a message of equality. I wish I could delve into my exact position on all of this, but it would be too much. After all, it's a kid's site. There would be little need for that. All in all, I think the rule is appropriate for the sake of keeping order.

Is it really that necessary that you guys have it though? I mean, if descriptive sexuality is forbidden, what made anyone think that such a sensitive topic in that field would even possibly be allowed? And, most importantly, the story would be about a kids toy on a kids website (unless it's in COT, but more stories are in the Library, and this is still a kids site). Kids don't need to be reading about that stuff, and their parents more than likely don't want their kid to do so. Even if half the population did want to read it, would it be better to disallow an unnecessary item or offend a lot of people? EDIT: Before I get pummeled, I don't agree with censorship, and I don't have homophobia (Silly word. Silly concept, too), before anyone accuses me of that. But as somebody who has had leadership positions at school and such, the idea is to keep order. All of the above were possible scenarios that are very likely to happen. We just read Huck Finn in school, and I think that forced censorship is the silliest thing ever (most of the time, there's always a time and a place for everything). But still...this is a kid's website. First and foremost, this is a kid's website.

You could probably also mention the transforming Vahki and Nidhiki. Also, could combiners be considered a gimmick? They aren't necessary, as shown by the past few years, but they certainly were cool to have in the back of the instructions. I can also imagine they were kept for so long because they helped sales...I'd personally count them as gimmicks.

Fahrenheit set 100 degrees as the temperature of the insides of a cow, and 0 as the temperature of an ice-cream type substance. Two completely random things.
