  1. I can't see how robotic-looking Metru feet (pistons and all) would look better. The 2.0 Hero Feet may arguably be due for a replacement, but at least they're solid enough to convey the idea of actual clothing (particularly with the gaps near the ball cup filled in, as they are on most of the Star Wars figures).
  2. Hm... got to wonder about the business case for a movie focused on themes that were not successful enough to continue. If you group them all together, do you get a recipe for success? I suppose maybe, particularly if instead of making it a spin-off you use it as a plot concept for "The Lego Movie 3" or something. Tie it together with the popular main characters and you just might have the makings of a hit.
  3. Worth pointing out that many of the respondees to this topic (and the person who started the topic) AREN'T male...
  4. Let's see... my ranking would be as follows: 1. Hoenn: Great, vibrant region with a lot of natural diversity, a fantastic layout with numerous "loops", and tons of incredible gameplay features. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire only improved upon that, including the ability to soar free over the region. 2. Johto: Nothing too exceptional in terms of layout, but with vibrant environments and culture, along with a great story and characters 3. Kalos: Another vibrant region, with great music and culture. Three main "loops" but they're pretty simple and only intersect at a single point. 4. Unova: Despite having some decent diversity and interesting features and culture, it only has one main "loop" and in some places feels a bit patched together. Seasonal changes felt like a good idea in concept but got a bit annoying in practice—I don't necessarily want to experience Seasonal Affective Disorder for a whole month in a video game. 5. Alola: Incredibly vibrant, fantastic culture. But the layout leaves a lot to be desired, with what loops that exist segmented off on various islands. Ride Pokémon are convenient but much less personal and immersive than riding on your own Pokémon. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon might improve things, hard to say just yet. 6. Sinnoh: A region with a pretty good structure, but perhaps less vivid and vibrant than I prefer. The underground was an interesting diversion but ultimately less enthralling than Hoenn's diverse Secret Bases. Character-wise it was great (one of the first regions where all of the Gym Leaders really had substantial roles outside their gyms), but feature-wise it's been left in the dust by subsequent games and remakes. Perhaps getting its own remake could fix that... 7. Kanto: Despite some updates over the years (most notably in HeartGold and SoulSilver), it still feels like the most "vanilla" of the regions in terms of culture and diversity. Decent layout but even that feels a little plain and overloaded with routes and caves that have a similar feel.
  5. Nope. That type of connection was only really "illegal" for the old 1x1 plates with clips on top, due to stressing that particular piece. The newer version of that part, and other clips like this piece or minifigure hands, can grip tiles just fine (plates are a different story and may well be an illegal connection due to having different geometry and being slightly thicker).
  6. This set turned out great! I love the little space shuttle and Hubble telescope! Out of curiosity, is Sally Ride the first lesbian minifigure? I can't recall if any other confirmed lesbian characters (licensed or non-licensed, real or fictional) have been produced before. If so, I'd consider that a big step, albeit a long overdue one...
  7. To be honest, supporting characters getting more character development in Pokémon is nothing new. Rival characters have almost always exhibited more explicit growth over the course of Pokémon games than the player character. Lillie's role may be slightly more integral to Sun and Moon's overarching plot than past characters (with the significant exception being N from Pokémon Black and White, who occupied a sort of mixed role as rival/friend/antagonist), but those older characters still played a similar role in actualizing the themes and messages of their respective games.
  8. If a Bionicle G3 made a big enough impact I could see it getting a movie but maybe just for TV like that use to. To be honest, in regards to a movie in the "Lego Cinematic Universe", I'm not 100% sure a "G3" would be necessary. A Bionicle movie like that would likely be a reboot in and of itself, like the Ninjago one, with sets designed from the ground up for the purpose of the movie. The only reason a "G3" might have to come first would be to revitalize the Bionicle brand, a standalone movie might honestly go farther to do so than an ordinary reboot—having seen that fail for G2, it might just as easily work better the other way around, relaunching with a high-profile movie before transitioning into an ongoing storyline. Of course, I don't really see either scenario happening for a good long while. Bionicle G2 floundered, and the Ninjago movie will likely make WB hesitant to create another movie based on a specific original Lego IP. And if even Ninjago was a a gamble that didn't totally pay off, a Bionicle movie would be a much, much riskier one.
  9. Here's my shortlist: 1. The Lego Bionicle Movie 2. The Lego Friends Movie 3. The Lego Ninjago Movie 2 4. The Lego Batman Movie 2 5 The Lego Unikitty Movie 6. The Lego Space Movie (starring Benny) Ultimately, I don't think we're likely to see most of these. After the disappointing box office returns for The Lego Ninjago Movie, I expect to see them ease back on spinoffs, especially ones based on original themes.
  10. Oh man, I came up with a better answer than my earlier one: No middle sliders when he was created in the Monster Factory.
  11. This was always my kind of nightmare scenario for a connection, to be honest. The trouble with making pretty much anything an alternate universe of G1 was the tendency for that generation's story to treat "alternate universes" as playspaces for G1 characters (up to and including overindulgent, morally vacuous characters like Vezon) to cause trouble without any lasting consequences. G2 may have failed to reach G1's level of storytelling, but importing the worst parts of the previous generation would be the opposite of an improvement.

    BrickCon 2017

I wonder if I've met that kid... I've definitely had a similar experience, in any case. I'd still like to go to a west coast con at some point, but never can decide on which one. I've heard Cascade is on the upswing, though—maybe someday...
  13. Velika, for being retconned into a villain.
  14. Of course not. Mountain Dew is poison to Bionicles.
  15. Like other people, I can't think of any retcons in Bionicle that made much of an improvement to the overall story.
  16. The fact that you were able to buy the originals on eBay highlights a significant reason why straight rereleases would be a bad idea. With very few exceptions, used Bionicle sets are cheap and plentiful on the aftermarket. Lego would essentially be competing with other sellers selling the exact same products (most likely more authentic versions of the same products, since even some of the classic colors have been completely retired). Add in the cost of bringing back retired parts, the logistics of distributing sets globally, and it would be incredibly hard to turn a profit on those. Would a small percentage of people be interested? Sure. But unless the rereleases would sell BETTER than newly developed sets and themes, it'd be hard to justify devoting resources to the former instead of to the latter.
  17. They were interesting, albeit flawed. The way they integrated System and Technic building was unique. On top of that, they were really the only manifestation of Bionicle's interesting and varied settings in set form. I wish we ended up getting playsets in G2. The older figures were flawed, but I would have loved to see figures following the template of the much better "Invasion From Below" mini-heroes. And Okoto featured some interesting location designs that would have been wonderful to see in sets.
  18. The former seems like it'd run up against Lego's general avoidance of sets focused on modern military conflicts. The Korean War is still in recent memory, and while MASH mostly offers a lighthearted take on the day-to-day life of troops and only occasionally delves into the gravity of the actual conflict, it's still centered entirely on a U.S. military operation. The Flash would make a lot more sense, as it fits into Lego's existing DC Super Heroes license and would have broad appeal for fans of that theme.
  19. Twitch definitely has a chat feature, and people have used it before. Do you maybe have it disabled in your settings? Oh dear, I seem to have never actually verified my email account. I'm hoping that'll fix it—I didn't see a specific setting to enable or disable chat.
  20. I want them in so many colors to make more Lego Elves goblin houses. At the very least, we're getting them in Cool Yellow in the Joker Manor set—not as vivid as Bright Orange or Medium Blue, but at least a color nonetheless.
  21. I managed to tune in for the final episode! Love that ending, particularly the music. Actually, between this, the Lego Batman Movie, and the Lego Ninjago Movie, I'm starting to notice a trend of Lego media using plain English for its ominous background chanting. I do kind of wish there was commenting on these streams the way there is for the live builds. That'd allow us to potentially give you tips when you get stuck, and to discuss what's happening with our fellow watchers.
  22. Droids I think would be the most feasible option—it'd probably be hard to swing anything that needed a unique mold (since gifts with purchase just don't have the budget for that), but a smaller droid like a Pit Droid could probably be done without any new parts.
  23. So far all I've seen is a small display of the 2001 sets that was formerly housed in the non-public Lego Idea House. That said, Faber's description of what Lego expressed interest in makes me think one of the rotating exhibitions at the Lego House might look at Bionicle in greater depth in the future.
