  1. I'm 15. If a group of us youngsters worked together on organizing an LA meetup I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a hassle. We could pick a big park in the middle of the county so it's equally close by for everyone in the vicinity or something.

But I'll be making an LA Meetup entry in a bit, and I'll post the link here in a sec. :)

EDIT: Here's the LA Meetup entry.

  2. I absolutely agree.

I think Nolan was trying to bring too much reality into something that shouldn't be realistic to begin with. Impossible physics, randomly acquired master detective skills, etc.

The Avengers showed us that a superhero movie can be just as amazing if it's not realistic. The whole concept that the movie is based off of--the Cosmic Cube (fine, Tesseract), the nine realms, and the nice little teaser at the end with Thanos--is a virtual impossibility (though I like to think otherwise).

And I don't care what people say, Bane should be Latin-American with a luchador mask.

I also think Nolan went for a Batman that I'm personally not too fond of. And anyways, in Frank Miller's Dark Knight series, Wayne is in his sixties, so the movies are a morphed version anyways.

I loved Avengers with every inch of my being and soul, every pixel of my internet persona.

And also, Black Widow's character is far more layered than Catwoman's...Natasha Romanoff is an ex-Soviet spy turned S.H.I.E.L.D. operative (and I hope they get further into it with a Hawkeye movie). Far superior to Selina Kyle (who is traditionally a supervillain anyways). And don't even get me started on Scarlett Johansson :drooling:.

  3. Props to Ledger, but after playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, I have to say his Joker is really a weak character.

And I sort of felt the same way when I saw TDK. The Joker's white face and green hair was supposed to be a result of toxic poisoning, not makeup and dye...it sort of kills the character and his backstory (which was never really explained in that movie anyways).

  4. How old was your brother when that happened? And where in all heck did they send him?

That's really tragic, but it sounds like it would be for the better if you were kicked out. No human deserves to live their life acting like someone else.

If they homeschool you, what in God's name do they teach you for science?

  5. You have no obligation to be the child they want you to be. Don't put on airs.

Though it's in part your fault for not sitting them down and telling them about your real beliefs. Are you telling me that whenever you're at home, you're always in an act?

That's plain stupid. But either way, now might be a good time to tell them who you are. If they're the parents they think they are, the'll be accepting.

  6. And then usually there's a suitably awesome finishing line for you to savor.

    YESSSSSS.

    Haven't read Catch-22, though.

    ~B~

The last line of this book was great--and you should definitely read it, it's long and you'll get impatient at times but it's so so so worth it.

Then you have to wait 2 years for the next book.

    >_>

What book were you talking about here? :P I can start the sequel tonight if I wanted--I have it right on my bookshelf.

I loved that book. Closing Time is very, very bitter from what I remember of it though.

If it's half as good as Catch-22, then I'll be thoroughly satisfied.

    To Be Continued

Hey, wait, I thought the story would reach some sort of resolution? Why do I gotta go buy another book now?

    :music:

This book has a sequel (and I got both for around 3 dollars total) but it doesn't say To be continued. :P

  7. Are you sure you're not just throwing around too much unwarranted praise?

I think you're willingly blinding yourself to some of the maaaaaaaaaaaaaajor flaws in the movie. Like how in the world Alfred would end up at the exact same cafe in France on the exact same day in the exact same month in the exact same year where Wayne and Kyle are having lunch? It makes it seem like there's only one cafe in France.

Bane's voice was nowhere near menacing. It fell weakly between Darth Vader and Christian Bale's own Batman voice, which makes for the most awful combination.

Also, Talia's insane, stupid, death? Like, what? To kill a primary villain off so anticlimactically is just really annoying.

And don't get me started on Alfred 'quitting.' He was going on and on about swearing to his parents to protect him, but no, he gets fed up and quits so he could die on his own...?

    There are more, man...

And let's be honest here...certainly not the best superhero movie of the decade. The movies were good. That's it.

  8. First off, let me start over with my entire criticism of this.

I appreciate all the work that was put into this, not only by you and Than, but also by the staff members that participated.

While I understand the effect that was trying to (and, in part, was) achieved, I don't think it's a particularly fitting one for this site.

I'm a little surprised that muted blue and grey were considered warm and inviting, as blue is generally described as lower in temperature. And there doesn't seem to be too much grey in the skin anyways, so there isn't much of a problem there.

I'm inclined to think that red, orange, yellow, and maybe even violet are the definitively 'warmer' colors. Though, I can't really decide since part of the inspiration for this theme was to stay true to BZPower's original forum design, which incorporates mostly blue and grey.

But if we think about inviting colors, I think darker shades of any color can seem very inviting. More so, perhaps, than the simply muted tones. A blue like this is just as inviting (but obviously not as warm) as a red like this.

So yeah, maybe some consideration could be made towards the coloring. That's my only problem with this theme. That and perhaps the gear icons, since they didn't look like gears to me until I read that they were supposed to be gears (but maybe that was on an individual basis).
