  1. When volume is 11, you have my permission to ROCK.-SK
  2. I don't see how a Luchador mask on Bane would have offended the Hispanic crowd, but let's end that subject here. And I understand that the characters were redone. My argument was that other iterations of the characters were better and that Nolan shouldn't have changed as much as he did. I think that as redone characters, they just weren't all that successful. And stop showing me/telling me about other reboots where characters were changed. We're talking about Batman here, not Transformers or Kamen Rider. -SK
  3. This blog entry of mine is related.Let's make this meetup thing happen! I think it would be a really fun thing to do annually, hopefully. -SK
  4. Um, it's not a reboot, it's based off of Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight" series. And even then, it's not faithful. In that series, Wayne was in his fifties and returning from a long retirement. In the movies, Wayne is still in his prime. Both the Joker and Bane were butchered in the Nolan films, and I can't overlook that. They're still fun movies, brilliantly acted, smartly written, and overall a fun ride, but my inner comic book geek is against the plots and the characters because they're totally not who they should be in any sense. Even as a reboot and putting their original characters aside, they were rather weak besides their psychological fixations on Gotham's destruction and Batman and terrorism-driven actions.Let's look at the Joker, for example. In the movie, he's portrayed as a criminally insane psychopath with scars on his face that twist his mouth into a grotesque smile. We have nearly no backstory or origin story other than the three entirely different (and fabricated) family histories he shares that resulted in his facial scars. He also wears white face makeup and green hair dye to achieve his clown-like persona. His goal is to destroy Gotham, and all the while he feeds off of Batman's agony. In the comics, Joker is still insane, but to a point that is just fun to read and watch. You're so engrossed by his broken psyche that the disturbed and frightening nature of his actions are simply fun to explore. It's rather sadistic, but there's a beauty in that aspect of the character. Meanwhile, he once fell into a vat of chemicals, which resulted in the distortion of his mouth, the white tainting of his skin, his permanently green hair, as well as his lips, which were forever stained red. The chemicals also gave him a constant need to laugh. His trademark cackle is etched into history. So, in many ways, and even though Heath Ledger did a phenomenal job, TDK Joker is just inferior to any other iterations of the character. There was no real meat to TDK Joker's character. And Bane should be a hulking brute with a luchador mask, not a built man with scars and a mask that pumps pain-relieving gas into his system and a jacket from the big & tall rack from a Burlington one-day sale.To see really good versions of these characters (and possibly the best, and also my favorite), refer to the Arkham series of video games by Rocksteady Games.-SK
  5. Hmm...you don't think there should be snow where Ihu is? Otherwise, that looks freaking epic. When can it be up for download? -SK
  6. Think it was Just Cause 2...never really gets old.Either that or the Play Station All Stars: Battle Royale demo.-SK
  7. If you guys see the Joker from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (the games), you would weep at how Dark Knight butchered the character. And I still stand by the fact that Bane should have been a hulking brute with a luchador mask, and if you argue that Nolan tries to make movies more realistic, then try to explain -SK
  8. Any piece of plastic that's even remotely pointed or sharp hurts.I've also stepped on whole sets before. Actually, I think I've stepped on every single set I own. Kardas Dragon was not pleasant.Oh, also when removing the brains from Mata heads. I use the way old mechanism that they posted on BZP (or was it Kanohi Power then?), but sometimes it's stubborn and takes some force. I scrape my hand against the ridged Mata head all the time, and while it doesn't bleed, it stings a bit. -SK
  9. I'll join up on this. I can't promise I'll do every challenge/task but I'll try to be active. -SK

    Photos

My phone's SD Card reader is kaput, so I can't actually take photos currently, but it's an all right camera. Shutter speed could be quicker, but then again there is no shutter, so... -SK
  11. The newest Mars rover, "Curiosity," is now reportedly just hours away from landing on Mars has landed on the surface of Mars!I thought we should take the time to soak in the fact that our technology has advanced so much in the past 50, almost 60 years since the first US Moon landing. What do you guys think there is in store for space exploration? Where do you think we're headed (both literally and figuratively)?I was saddened by the dismissal of the space shuttle program, but am in equal amounts delighted at the privatization of space travel. It'll be a great opportunity for people who can afford it, and soon, I hope to see organizations that can help anyone hitch a ride to space for a few hours. But I was also delighted by the dawn of a new era of science--recently, the Higgs boson was discovered (and confirmed), yet the journey to define the laws of all things is not ending, as the transition is slowly turning towards dark matter, antimatter, and quantum science.I'm amazed at where the world is going and I'm glad to live in a generation where all these crazy and awesome discoveries are being made. What are your thoughts?-SK
  12. Happy birthday B6! I hope you had a good time with your friends at BrickFair, who hopefully remembered this. :PEnjoy your day. -SK
  13. I absolutely agree. I think Nolan was trying to bring too much reality into something that shouldn't be realistic to begin with. Impossible physics, randomly acquired master detective skills, etc. The Avengers showed us that a superhero movie can be just as amazing if it's not realistic. The whole concept that the movie is based off of--the Cosmic Cube (fine, Tesseract), the nine realms, and the nice little teaser at the end with Thanos--is a virtual impossibility (though I like to think otherwise). And I don't care what people say, Bane should be Latin-American with a luchador mask. I also think Nolan went for a Batman that I'm personally not too fond of. And anyways, in Frank Miller's Dark Knight series, Wayne is in his sixties, so the movies are a morphed version anyways. I loved Avengers with every inch of my being and soul, every pixel of my internet persona. And also, Black Widow's character is far more layered than Catwoman's...Natasha Romanoff is an ex-Soviet spy turned S.H.I.E.L.D. operative (and I hope they get further into it with a Hawkeye movie). Far superior to Selina Kyle (who is traditionally a supervillain anyways). And don't even get me started on Scarlett Johansson . -SK
  14. Vezon and Fenrakk? Yeah, that sounds right.-SK
  15. Electrons can teleport.Gary Oldman played a dwarf in the movie "Tip Toes.""O'clock" is a contraction for "of the clock."Eratosthenes, a Greek mathemetician, calculated the circumference of the earth without even leaving Egypt in 240 BC. His calculation was within 2% of the Earth's actual circumference. The Earth doesn't have a circumference since it's not a sphere. You can make a solar cell with blueberries. The person that has been hunting the Loch Ness monster his entire life finally snapped a photo that is undeniable proof of its existence.http://doubtfulnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/nessie803.jpgThomas Crapper, contrary to popular belief, did not invent the flush toilet, but rather the Ballcock, the mechanism which refills the tank during the flush.-SK
  16. Haha, I tried my best to separate the terms "Programming" and "Web Design/Development." But yeah, I just included those because I think Programming can also be used as an umbrella term, and "Coding" wasn't a good topic title. (Think of it like this--using HTML and CSS, I can program the file to output what I want . Of course, that's really loose reasoning.)I'm working on a massive platform for sites within a network to use. You know, user-sharing and everything...it's a daunting task but it's gonna be fun for sure!I've also worked on some social networking stuff that can't be mentioned here.I'm much more of a fan of PHP and Javascript. I think I'm gonna go for Python and Ruby next, and then after that, maybe C. Objective-C is on the list somewhere and so is C++.-SK

    Out of Bagels

No. I mourn the lack of bagels the same way. You are not alone. -SK
  18. Props to Ledger, but after playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, I have to say his Joker is really a weak character. And I sort of felt the same way when I saw TDK. The Joker's white face and green hair was supposed to be a result of toxic poisoning, not makeup and dye...it sort of kills the character and his backstory (which was never really explained in that movie anyways). -SK
  19. Hey guys. The last two programming topics are dead so I thought I'd start a new one.I'm interested in the demographic of programmers, web developers/designers, and computer/software engineers here on BZP.I'm personally intensely fascinated by the entire world of programming and am a professional in HTML5, CSS3, Javascript (and jQuery), and PHP.I currently do freelance web design and development but have a job interview for a web development job next week. What about you guys? Also, this topic can be used for programming problems or code review if any people need that, and also for aspiring programmers or beginners who want to know where to start.-SK
  20. BS01 provides a list of both Fan-made BIONICLE characters and Fan-made storyline additions. You can also view the Category page for Fan-created Canon (this lists BS01 pages for all fan-created canon).-SK
  21. I'm already OBZPC and Premier, so there isn't much left. I'd like to help pump life back into some of my favorite forums somehow, and another goal is to post a bit more since I really like the community here. Also, I'd like to help develop alternatives to a few rules so that we can have a bit more freedom on these forums, but it sounds like stuff is constantly being worked on, and I trust that work to the staff. -SK
  22. Congrats on three years! It's a hard thing running a podcast, so hats off. And the month's coming to a close here on the west coast so I'll take this final opportunity to wish BZP a happy birthday!-SK
  23. Just tried going that far and entering the code, and it says it's expired. Looks like it is an issue of time zone.-SK
  24. Assuming the forum is actually on UTC time, then the time right now would be 1:44am, and the time at which you posted this would have been 12:55am. If you were trying to buy it not long before you posted this topic, then it sure was past the deadline.I think the calendar and the rest of the forum shows you the time based on your time zone, but that doesn't mean it doesn't still have its internal clock. Plus, when I click "Calendar" at the top of the page, it shows August by default (since it would be August 1st UTC), but it still says that today is July 31st (which it is in my time zone).-SK
