  4. Onua: Just you wait Gali-Lewa will never need rescuing again once he's safe at the bottom of this hole...
  5. Cool fic so far man...you got a review topic?
  6. KARZAHNI'S CHIMES MAN! ...sorry. I just haven't been to the fanfic corner for a while, and I finally come back to find that you've written one of the most crazy intense fanfics I have ever read. Truly masterful work-you definitely came up with some ideas I never thought of.
  7. The Overlord is the first one that comes to mind, from his possession of Garmadon to his success in corrupting virtually all of Ninjago's inhabitants, to his monstrous return as a computer virus and later as a titanic evil that could only be stopped by Zane's own sacrifice (even if that turned out to be temporary). As an honorary mention, I recently reread the Comet Crisis graphic novel and "The One Who is Many" is one nasty dude. I mean, shapeshifters are bad enough, but a shapeshifter who pits people against each other and brings about planet-destroying calamity simply for their own amusement? That is downright terrifying.
  8. Don't suppose this is posted anywhere else? I haven't been on Twitter in years.
  9. The key word there is "willing". So with the revelation that Tirek will apparently be returning in the upcoming season, it seems to me that a pattern has been established, consciously or unconsciously, with regards to the introductions of major villains in the franchise. By major I'm talking villains who were so bad that they debuted in a two-part episode and/or were defeated in a two part episode-not one time troublemakers like Lightning Dust or briefly escalating nuisances like Trixie. The pattern seems to be this: major villains introduced in odd-numbered seasons seem to end up being redeemed or eliminated (either way they're done being a villain) while major villains introduced in even-numbered seasons survive to make a pest of themselves down the road-in ANOTHER even numbered season: Season 1: Nightmare Moon is introduced but cleansed by the Elements of Harmony in the series premier, and thereafter confined to flashbacks, nightmares, illusions, alternate timelines, and the occasional comic appearance that ends with her quickly reverting back to Luna form.Season 2: Discord is introduced but defeated, and starts on the path to redemption in season 3. Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings are also introduced but expelled by Shining Armor and Princess Cadance's combined magic.Season 3: King Sombra is introduced but is quickly defeated; if you confine yourself to the animated series he is for all intents and purposes dead at this point, whereas the comics featured his return followed quickly by his redemption.Season 4: Tirek is introduced but eventually defeated and returned to Tartarus. Discord also makes a return to his antagonist role in season 4, both with his instigation of/apathy towards the whole Plunderseeds situation and his later alliance with Tirek. However, he does break the pattern somewhat-what else do you expect from the Spirit of Chaos?-by actually becoming a redeemed character, albeit a mischievous one.Season 5: Starlight Glimmer is introduced, and actually becomes the first villain to appear in two different two-parters, but these serve to bookend the same season and result in Starlight being redeemed. The other major villains from previous seasons also make brief appearances, but these are confined to brief appearances in presumably nullified alternate timelines.Season 6: Chrysalis and the Changelings make their return after an absence of FOUR SEASONS (not counting The Cutie Re-Mark - Part 2), but their return culminates in the majority of the Changelings choosing to share love and Chrysalis being deposed as their leader.Season 7: The Pony of Shadows is introduced as a full-fledged villain rather than a Headless Horse/Olden Pony type fable, but proves to be a Unicorn possessed by darkness. That darkness is separated from him by the Elements of Harmony and trapped in limbo, leaving the Unicorn himself as a redeemed character.Season 8: Chrysalis will be returning after a much shorter absence, but also minus her previous entourage, and Tirek will be returning after being absent for FOUR SEASON-funny how that seemed to be his and Chrysalis' magic number.
  10. Yep-gotta wait until next year for more animation goodness, including Chrysalis and-apparently-a return by Tirek.
  11. Not the last book I read, but I did recently go through the entirety of The Mistmantle Chronicles by M.I. McAlister. Truly amazing books-somewhat in the flavor of Redwall but with their own cool unique elements. The books focus mainly on the adventures of the inhabitants of the island of Mistmantle, particularly a honey-colored red squirrel named Urchin of the Riding Stars. Sadly the series is no longer in print, and copies of the final book are hard to find and thus expensive-I read library copies.
  12. Well, I can say it's a pretty awesome film-I took my niece and nephew to see it. It's not the perfect movie, but enjoyable nonetheless. And now we're a week away from the finale of season 7.
  13. Might be fun to see a "The Lego Rejects Movie" sort of thing featuring all the themes that are no longer in production.
  14. That's too bad, and doesn't really make sense to me seeing how Disney has made such an apparent effort to make it so readily available in the U.S. The series looks to be quite interesting once it really gets started: the various synopses/titles released so far indicate that we'll be seeing the Beagle Boys in episode 2 and episode 4 (the latter will also feature Ma Beagle), Gyro Gearloose in episode 3, new characters Lena (who I imagine at least one of the nephews will have a crush on) and Mark Beaks in episodes 4 and 6 respectively, and the Terrafirmians and Gladstone Gander in episodes 5 and 7. Gyro's appearance undoubtedly means we'll be seeing Gizmoduck fairly soon.
  15. I would chalk most of that up to the alternate history bit; I also can't speak for how well-researched the work is. Been listening to The Chronicles of Prydain-quite enjoyable, loving the humor and mythos.
  16. He is definitely appearing, but it may not be what we were expecting...
  17. So with the recent premier of the DuckTales 2017 TV movie and the forthcoming series premier, I thought some fellow fans-don't know that this fandom has an actual nickname-might want to chat about it. EDIT: This isn't restricted to new DuckTales; you can discuss the classic series and it's associated media as well, along with the comics that inspired both series. Personally, I'm loving the new series from what I've seen of it thus far, from all the Easter eggs and references to all the new developments. Probably the most exciting thing is that there definitely seems to be an effort-on the part of the show's creators if no one else-to set things up for a potential shared universe of Disney television, most likely involving reboots/reimaginings of such series as TaleSpin, GoofTroop, and Darkwing Duck (particularly the latter, since the terror that flaps in the night is supposed to be making a guest appearance later this season). Will it happen? I suppose it depends on how fans react to DuckTales. Well, the field is now open for any and all discussions, theories, comments, and so forth with regards to the series. Before I sign off though, I did want to share a theory-spoilered in case you're not into that thing or haven't seen "Woo-oo!" yet:
  18. It does seem like the whole "buy figurines so you can play characters in a game" thing is on it's way out.
  19. As long as it's something new. That's the way our Flickr contests have always worked. Huh-I guess the only ones I've ever noticed had a theme.
  20. So...just whatever CCBS MOC strikes us? No other qualifiers?
  21. My senior year English class involved reading 1984, Lord of the Flies, The Portrait of Dorian Gray, and Macbeth-the last was easily the cheeriest thing on the list. Have been listening to the first book of The Guardian Herd series-definitely an interesting concept.
  22. But this is in no way Darkwing Duck related. The character bio references Darkwing Duck to an extent: Fair point...but I don't think this terror flaps in the night.
