      The Tlaloque are the four sons of the Aztec rain and water god Tlaloc. They carried water in jugs which they used to produce rain, with one being assigned to each direction and each the god one of the four types of maize. Opochtli, the Northern Tlaloque, was the god of fisherman and the inventor of fishing equipment along with being the god of white maize.       Nappatecuhtli, the Eastern Tlaloque, was the god of the origination point of rivers and streams along with red maize. He was said to have invented the bed roll, or 'petlatl'. Tomiyauhtecuhtli, the Southern Tlaloque, was the god water grasses along with black maize. Yauhqueme,The Western Tlaloque, was the god of a wide range of water plants along with yellow maize.
