I have been receiving emails of late indicating new blog entries from a number of old friends here on BZP.  Apparently the blogging system just returned after a lengthy hiatus?  It has been years since I've visited the forums, but I've never forgotten all the fun I had as a part of this community.  I am still alive, and I would enjoy reconnecting with anyone who remembers me from quite literally a decade ago!  My absence over the last 10 years can largely be explained by school.  I began my freshman year of college in 2010, and in the years since, I have completed an AA (2012), two BAs (2014), a BS major-equivalency (2015), and an MA (2019).  I have been a college student for 7 years of this decade, taught at a high school for 2 years between my BAs and MA, and was hired this fall as an adjunct professor at a local college.  Needless to say, it's been a long journey that's kept me very busy!  Reading my old blog after this long feels like looking back in time, and it sounds like at least a few others are having similar experiences as they return to BZP.
So let's talk!  What's been going on in everyone's lives since 2009?  If you remember me, let's catch up!  If not, introduce yourself!

So I've been thinking about buying an Xbox sometime in the next year, mainly so that I'll be able to play Halo 3 with a few of my classmates while we're all in different colleges. However, I think it would almost be a waste to just get an Xbox for only one game, but I've never really checked out all the games for Xbox. Does anyone know any good games that they may recommend once I do get one?

Sooooo, our class is officially pathetic now. We spend a lot of time in our Principal's Office, mostly messing around and drinking his coffee, etc., and someone had made the comment that his office had become something like the Teacher's Lounge, except for Seniors. So, I made a nice looking sign that says "Senior Lounge" and hung it on his office door. It's still there, and he has actually said that he's fine with it being there.

It's great to see that BZP is back up again. In its down time, I actually found myself so bored that I wondered what I did in my free time before I joined the site. A few weeks ago, myself and BZP member Alku went to Minneapolis on a youth trip to ValleyFair (a large amusement park). We spent plenty of time at the Mall of America (mostly the LEGO Imagination Center) as well, got ourselves the titan Mata Nui set, and took a picture with the both of us standing near Tahu. I haven't uploaded any pictures yet, but once I do, many will be posted here.

Then, last Tuesday, myself and my parents took a flight to Washington DC. For the first few days, we did some touring and sightseeing; all of which I would recommend to anyone who's thinking about visiting the US Capitol. That Thursday and Friday, several BZP members arrived at our hotel, and BrickFair 2009 began! I had the great pleasure of meeting (and seeing face to face) Black Six, Smeagol4, Janus, Darth Vader, Kohaku, ChocolateFrogs, LehvakLah, Friar Tuck, Senjo, Hahli Husky, Nikira, InnerRayg, Alsru: Toa of Honor, and several others. If I forgot your name, comment here and I'll add you to the list. Again, many pictures were taken, but will be posted later.

In other news, also in going to BrickFair, I got banned.

Wow, so much to talk about. I know I've forgotten some stuff, so if you remember something that I didn't mention, once again, comment on it.

So I'm a senior now, which feels rather interesting; knowing that a year from now, I'll be in college rather than high school. Most of my classmates are making it a bigger deal than I think it is. So far, the only change from previous years is that we now have our own special "senior" parking lot that's closer to the school than the other parking lots. We have a few new teachers this year too, and I like them quite a bit. Our new government teacher is a very enthusiastic and energetic person, which makes the class much more fun (he's a bit conservative in his views too, which, no offense, I like as well). Our new math teacher is pretty cool too. Not that energetic, but he knows his stuff. I missed the first few days of school for BrickFair, so I've been kept busy with some make-up work. Now that I'm done with it though, I'm realizing that this may be a much easier year than I anticipated.

I'm at camp again, same campgrounds, different camp, and this time, I'm on the staff. I'm a part of their security force, mainly nightwatch. At the moment, I'm watching the moniters of several security cameras throughout the campgrounds. Strangely enough, this work is actually rather enjoyable.

I haven't in quite a while, but I'm back on the MOCing line trying out various projects for things that I might bring to BrickFair. If anyone has any ideas for possible projects, by all means, put them here, I'd be very interested in trying them out.

Also, saw Jupiter for the first time this year last night.

Remember that GarageBand song I told you about a few days ago? I've got a good chunk of it done, and I've uploaded the WIP to the internet. Listen to it and let me know what you think!

    Apocalypse

The song is written mainly in minor tonality and has a great blend of beautiful melody and hard rhythm that produced an apocalyptic sound (hence the name).

    Every note is 100% custom.

    Control

    Take control of the atmosphere,
Take me far away from here.
There is no better loss than to lose myself in you.
In a parachute to glide, I am captive in your sky.
    Surrender somehow becomes so beautiful.

    Take control of the atmosphere,
    Take control of the atmosphere.
You can take my world, you can fill the air.
    Take control, take control.

    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender.

Move me up through the darkest clouds,
'Til I've lost in the sun every shadow of doubt.
There is no better find than to find myself with you.
    In a fog you're all I see,
I'm inviting you closer with each time I breathe.
    Surrender somehow becomes so beautiful.

    Take control of the atmosphere,
    Take control of the atmosphere.
You can take my world, you can fill the air.
Take control, take control, take control, take control.

    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender.

    Take control of the atmosphere,
    Take control of the atmosphere.
    There is no reason I should breathe unless you're in the air;
    Take control.

    Such a beautiful surrender,
    Such a beautiful surrender.
    And I'm calling out,
    Would you take control.
    And I'm calling out...

    Welcome to the Pearl Showcase!

The central theme of this blog involves Pearl drumsets and accessories (I am a percussionist/drummer, and Pearl is my favorite brand). The category images are based off of the discography of the band "Newsboys", and entries pertaining to the contest will be based on many different musically related things. Also, notice the header and footer images and font color of this entry. All entries in this blog that are meant to be a part of the Pimp My Blog contest will have this header image and font color. This is to make distinguishing contest entries from non-contest entries much easier.

    Enjoy your stay!

    And for good!

A very wonderful person purchased another PMship for me, a lifetime one, no less, and I am incredibly grateful for it! Not sure if he/she want his/her name mentioned here, so I'll wait with naming who it was until I know for sure.

Anyway, I'm glad to have my blog back, especially since it's a lot sooner than I was expecting. Completely unexpected, in fact.

It snowed yesterday. Yeah, June 6, 2009, and it snowed yesterday morning. I believe they said it was the first time ND has seen snow in June in at least 50 years, possibly longer. It didn't last long though, it melted within a few hours, but it was still cool.

Finally, I think I'm going to enter the Pimp My Blog contest.

It's been a while since I've posted something here in my blog.

I've been out a lot, taking advantage of summer vacation; the weather's been great here. I've been spending a lot of time on Platinum as well, preparing for some stuff that's going to be going on soon that involves the game. Can't quite talk about it here yet. Also, on that same note, I've been designing and building a new website for this "Platinum" stuff.

Finally, I'm pretty sure my PMship runs out very, very soon, and at present, I don't have plans to renew it for a while. Basically, all the money I had went towards something of rather high priority, and now that that's out of the way, I'm saving up for a DSi.

Plus, my blog seems to have lost some of it's appeal to others.

Well, school's out now, and I'm officially a senior. I watched that new Night at the Museum movie last night. It was absolutely awesome. I recommend that all of you go and see it. I've been working pretty hard on a new website, one that probably won't be linked to here for quite a while yet, since it's far from finished.

All in all, summer looks like it'll be quite a bit of fun.

Golden sun setting over a sea of red.

And now for the story behind these two paintings. Yes, those are my pieces of artwork, and I found them the other day while cleaning out my closet. I painted them about a year and a half ago in art class at school. The humorous thing is that those paintings were rushed pieces of artwork for an assignment that was due that very day. I wasn't really putting too much effort into them when I painted them, but now, as I see them again, I have a new appreciation for them. Especially the nighttime scene. It's strangely appealing...
