  1. Cause of a loss of a friend.

  2. After 7 tries I got it. Crazy game. Not fun. I hate it.
  3. Right. Over the weekend I was north of where I live. Over 2hrs drive north of where I live. Anyway, I thought, hey, I'll look for some Avtoran and Phantoka up there. So I looked in a couple of places. Man, those Matoran are elusive. I haven't seen ONE anywhere yet. So, I had to settle for the Phantoka. What a shame. Well, now I'll compare my previous comments I made about them and see how I think about them now I have them. Couple of things first. Almost every new piece (except for Antroz blades and some of the Kanohi) are much bigger than I expected. And in most cases that's a good thing. But I'll go more into that later. And also, I tolerate blue axle/rod (or whatever, you know what I mean). I tolerate red axles. I DON'T tolerate blue long rods. That's too far. QUOTE With all the canister sets, there is the problem with the canisters themselves. They are not canisters, like the Toa Mahri. They don't even have that functionality the the Mahri's did, with the pin holes. This is a big minus, I don't think I'll see any point in keeping these. Certainly useless for storage. They come in cool colours, and they could find uses, but as of right now I see none. Firstly, when I went to the counter to pay for the Phantoka, the woman there said that the outside covers might fit together, and it never occured to me that they could. And, lo' and behold, they don't, but it's a novel idea. An echo back to 2004 with the Matoran Capsules. Now, naturally, we all know by now that I was completely wrong, as they are infact canisters. Which is great. I think when I FINALLY get the Matoran, I can store their pathetic excuse for packaging in there, which will save storage space greatly. Still, the outside layer is useless, but they look cool. And that's all they really need to be. I wish though that the colours of the outer layer corresponded with the colour of the actual sets. Mata blue and Mata red would be awesome to see back. Thok white would also be interesting again, but not so much on Kopaka. The White Makuta, maybe? QUOTE Before I discuss any more sets, I'll divulge my thoughts on what these three sets have in common. The Midak Skyblaster. It is basically another ball shooter, the same shape and size as the Zamor and Airbubbles, in a new blaster. The blaster is much slimmer than their Cordak relatives, and is mix of black and silver, very neutral colours. You put the Midaks (or whatever) into the blaster, assuming that all four you get in the set fit in there, then when you release the cap, a Midak will fly out. Seems like a good idea, hopefully it will work. They certainly look cool. The Midak Skyblaster is one of those examples of a piece I thought was smaller, but in fact is not. However, this is a BAD thing. On Lewa mostly. They are really heavy, with the 'Midaks' inside it, and it's really long, looking awkward. It works better on Kopaka and Pohatu, but with Lewa it's a bit iffy. Indeed, they have silver Zamors, but since I've never had them before, I don't mind. Silver ones, that is. Anywho, all that said, the mechanism is really cool, it's certainly powerful, and as some have said, really accurate too. It's certainly an improvement of the shooters from '06 onwards. QUOTE With these Makuta comes the other 'weapon', the Tridax Pod. When you release the Tridax Pod holder, it falls out and out of the Pod comes four Shadow Leeches. These guys look nasty, like the Sea Squids. Whatever power these guys have, it'll be interesting. Ha, didn't say much there did I? Anyway, the whole time, even with the reviews, I had the impression that with the ribgage that you had to push DOWN, not IN at the back. So that got me confused when I built my first Batkuta. I'm slow, I know. Anyway, the design for the ribcage is good that the torso doesn't look empty when the Batkuta is Tridax Pod-less. And the way the bombs fall out is really cool, and if you get the right height and the right surface, the impact can be fascinating. Oh, it's fun to see the lil' Leeches scatter everywhere. The design of the Tridax pod is cool, with all the ridges all over it and all that. The Shadow Leeches themselves are cool, and are made of the same rubbery stuff as the Squids were last year. Nothing exciting, but the idea that they can attach to things through the use of pins is cool. They have cute little faces... QUOTE One last thing. You may notice now the design for the joints has changed design, the first time since the Slizers/Throwbots in 1999! Change for the better I'd say, as they look smoother now, without those holes on the sides. That will also help hide those red plus rod and blue pins, although I've never really complained about those... Well, they certainly haven't broken at all. And I think they'll be better in the long run. I'm all for them. QUOTE OK, in order of set number, we start with Kopaka Nuva. He is basically a Toa Inika in stature, with shorter legs, but longer arms. That may not be good. Also, his colour scheme is very much like his old self, minus the blue eyes which are green (but they are the chopped off green eyes, so it's OK) The mask is much like a Great Matatu rather than an Akaku Nuva, but it looks good. The aeroplane wings, heh heh, make him look sharp, they don't hinder him at all. And, he has back armour, which is a plus, but it's their mainly for the attachment of Solek (more on that later). His Ice Bayonet is lacking, as all it is is a spike on the end of his Midak Skyblaster. An interesting new coloured piece is the Hahli foot, in white. Much better than the blue/white marble version. I like Kopaka, because he still looks cool, and...proud even, with that pose of him holding up his bayonet and Midak. OK, first point. I wasn't aware that Inika legs and Piraka legs were the same size, so that's my bad. Basically, he is as tall as the Inika, as you would expect. And yes, his arms are MUCH longer than Inika's, but it works better for holding the Midak. He may have too much grey, but since he originally was light grey and white, I'm not overly fussed. The Akaku Nuva is so close to a Great Matatu it easily could be one, albeit much cooler looking. I do suggest though that taking out the rod in his eye is a good idea, because it does look funny. If you're one to play with your sets, only use it when he's using his mask power, I'll say. Like pretty much all the Nuva, I would have prefered if the eye piece was the full one, rather than the cut off one. It's fine on Kopaka though. However, green eyes don't work with white. Blue would have been much better. The Ice Bayonet is longer than it looks, which is good because it looked pathetic in the pictures, and with that and the other red rod together, it makes the Midak more menacing. On the subject of the Midak, the reason why it works with him is because he uses both hands to hold it. Much more reasonable. And finally his wings. ARE HUGE. But they work really well, and you can position them how you want, up or down. Don't hinder his appearance at all, as I said. QUOTE Vamprah brings the return of Mata Blue as a major colour scheme, with many old pieces in that old classic colour, as well as some in silver. There is a return of Gali's Hooks, as well as new wings in Black/Silver AND Blue/Silver. Not really any legs at all, just some black double joints and some Mahtiran Electroblades. The mask is a mix of Blue and Silver, and sorta reminds me of the Arthron in a weird way. Nope. Not Mata Blue. Big mistake there. Also, it's Gunmetal/silver, not Black. Anyway, Vamprah is thoroughly underratted. As the most batlike Batkuta, Vamprah is cool. The lack of legs give him character, and it makes for interesting poses, even though three limbs have to be touching the ground at once. The combination of Hook and Wing as part of the arm is cool. A couple of gripes. One, he has no new pieces exclusive to him apart from his Kanohi. Which is sad. Secondly, like all Makuta, the floppy head. They could easily have fixed it, but they decided to do something really weird with that 3long axle. And finally, that gaping mouth is a bit creepy. But the mask is cool. A very long mask, going right as long as the back of the eye piece. Alot of silver on it, which is good. I like the old pieces in the new colours. Yes. And also, I thought these wings were smaller. I was pleasantly surprised. QUOTE Kongu Lewa (that's three times I've done that now!) has many old pieces in new colours, for instance the Mantax feet, the chest armour, etc. Again, he is much like a Toa Inika, but there is enough difference this time not to matter. There seems to be some of Matoro's twin cutters on his shoulders, as well as what appears to be jetpacks to propell everyone's favourite Toa of Air through the air. One can assume that Lewa will also have that back armour on him as well, but we're yet to see yet. His weapon is HUGE, and looks a bit peculiar with him. It's sort of like a Hordika-fied Staff of Loyalty, which I adore. Finally, his mask is like those of 07, with the clear blue sphery bit behind the actual mask. The mask itself reminds me of a Kiril, mixed with a bit of Miru Mata. One thing that will concern me is the lime joints; we don't want a repeat of this year. Too much grey. What lime green there is, it's in the right places. But there needs to be more. Luckily, thanks to the upgrades to the joints, no more of that lime green joints problem. The legs are not good. The reason? Rahkshi legs and Mantax feet don't mix. If the legs were wider, or the feet thinner, they would have worked, but otherwise it looks heavily inproportioned. Yes, I was right, they have the same back armour as Kopcakes. The arms work perfectly. As I talked about before, the Midak is not so great on Lewa. But there was little else you could do. I fear for Ignika. His blade is not overly huge like the rest of the the pieces in the Phantoka series. Which is good. Because it already was huge. But it looks good on him, surprisingly. I understand why the Twin Cutter blades have to be there now, to attach the Jetpacks (which are also bigger than expected and awesome). I can't think of any other good way that it would have worked, so they've done well. There are two different lime greens, one for the mask and torso, and one for the joints. Not a good idea. And finally, the mask. Kiril, Miru yes. But this is where my gripe is. The mask sucks. Why? On side on, it doesn't work. If they extended the back of the mask beyond the head (like the Akaku), or cut it short (like with the Kakama), or had the full green eyes instead of the cut off ones, it would have worked, but having it finish exactly where the head finishes DOESN'T WORK. However, the green eyes are good with him, since that's what they used to be before the Adaptive Armour. All the flaws aside, it all comes together to be a good set, but not my favourite. QUOTE Chirox, ah Chirox, one minute I hate your guts, the next you couldn't be any less awesome. He is pretty much ALL black, apart from silver here and there. He has the same wings as Vamprah, only in the black/silver variety of course. There are silver 'swoosh' armour, found in black on Nuparu Mahri. There is a return of Hordika limbs, not seen since the Hordika. There are two toed chicken feet instead of the three toed variety we've seen alot in days of late. His arms are really weird, they are a mix of the wings and arms. Spread them out and they're really big. Alot of articulation for cool poses there. You can see the two different 'modes'. one for when he is flying, the other when he's 'normal'. His weapons are sort of like thinner Staves of Command, or maybe a walking frame. XD The mask is sort of like a smaller Mantax head, only much cooler. As a whole he looks good, if a bit weird when he's flying, with all those limb bits. The swoosh armour is a pretty cool pair of pieces. And that's a thing, I didn't realise they were two different pieces. Ah well. Finally, I've decided, he's in the couldn't be any less awesome category. He's so bleh in the pics at times, but in real life he's really cool. The almost all black is really effective, with bits of silver here and there. Once again, his Hook Blades are bigger than expected, but they still look weird to me, and I have trouble getting good poses with them when he's not flying. I like the Hordika legs, but not the feet. I think they work better on Gavla and Kirop, and it's a bit weird that BOTH black sets have the same shaped feet. Not a great idea. The arms/wings bit is interesting to say the least, but it restricts posability a bit with the arms. When he's flying though, it's really effective. And finally, his mask. It doesn't have enough silver like in the pics. But it's a really majestic mask, especially when he's looking down, and it's really tall as well. Like a headdress in majesty. Probably my favourite mask of the six. The orange Tridax Pod and eyes stick out too much that it draws attention away from the rest of the set. I'm not fussed, though. QUOTE Pohatu Nuva is orange. Now I've got that off my chest. No seriously, he's orange. I'm not a great fan of this change in colour, but we'll wait and see till we some pics of the sets themselves. Anyway, Pohatu is very much like Kongu Mahri, which is a change from the other two. This of course will make him alot shorter, but he was always a short Toa anyway, so that's OK. I like the Kongu Mahri design. I won't mind it being used again, since I haven't (and probably won't) get Kongu Mahri. Our ol' Stone Toa has some interesting new arms, but they are designed like that to accomodate his...propellers. They will spin around like in the promotional pics from what I can tell, so at least that's something. They spin thanks to a plus rod that goes through the arm and attaches to the spinners, and you spin it around with the little grip piece you have at the back. Very nifty. His Midak is attached to his shoulder, much like Maxilos and the Cordak, and it looks good there. Even though I'm against the orange (it should be more a fire colour, but I can understand WHY they usde it), there is a nice array of old pieces in that colour, which is good. His mask is left to be desired though. It's like a Vahi with the blue bubble to cover the rest of the face. Not a good idea. Makes him look very exposed. Still, the design of the mask is pretty cool. Like the set itself. Very bright orange. He's the most noticeable of the Phantoka because of his orange, even if there is only 7 orange pieces. I'll get used to the orange in time, but right now it's painful. Stone canisters have had a rough time. I do like the Konguesque design for the body. Very cool, and makes him different enough from the other two Nuva. His arms are not nearly as bad as they look in the pics, although posing is difficult because of how it's constructed. The Twin Propellers themselves harken back to the days of gears, minus the gears, but we finally have a set with an action feature other than the projectile. The Propellers spin really well, but only for a short time. What I expected though, so that's OK. When at their full length they are, once again, bigger than I expected. Also, they double up to make claws, which is great, because claws were Pohatu's last set of Toa tools. If you have them in the claw formation, and then spin them, they'll revert back to the propeller position most times, which is great for quick action to get away. His Midak is attached to his shoulder, like I said, and that's OK, although it is still too long for that to be absolutely perfect. As for the mask, sadly, I'm gunna have to say it's better in real life. Since the blue part wraps right around the head, he is certainly not exposed, and it's a cool effect. The Vahiesque Kakama is a good piece on its own, but the blue makes it more complete. The green eyes work better with Pohatu, because orange is what I still consider to be a Fire-based colour, and fire and green eyes work well, over the years. A good set, the most individual of the six Phantoka. And has the most parts too, for those that are interested. QUOTE On to the Batkuta sets, we start with Antroz. It seems we may be back to Mata red, although I'm not entirely convinced. The only new interesting parts are the wings, his mask (which is great!), weapons, Tridax Pod, Shadow Leeches, Tridax Pod releaser thing, and the torso itself. There isn't much I can say about him without looking at the other Makuta, so I'll leave it at he's pretty cool. Great to see some new mask for bad guys! All the Makuta seem to have orange eyes now. Sorry, Mata Red loyalists. It's definetly Metru Red. Although the feet can't have been coloured properly, because mine are a bit purplish. Not noticeably from a distance, but if you look close they are. Now, onto to his wings. I originally thought they were really big. I was wrong. THEY ARE FREAKING HUGE! And are really evil looking. Antrox looks the most noble of the Batkuta, which makes sense for his character. He stands proud, and about any pose looks good for him. Except perhaps the flying poses, but I haven't experimented much yet. His weapons are good, but they could have been better I think. They're not particularily big, so there's only so much you can do. I reckon they'll work better with Icarax's rotating shield. And finally, his mask. Is as awesome as it looks. A gaping mouth with teeth seal the deal. The six spikes are particularily effective. Over the last few weeks, I thought he was overrated. I was wrong. Overall, Antroz may be my favourite Phantoka, although it's a tough thing to call. I like all the Phantoka greatly, except perhaps Lewa. I do suggest getting these, if not just Kopaka and a Batkuta, to get one of both sides of the battle. I'm really impressed.

  11. Teehee, another random. Crymzon Fyreball Crymzon Fyreball has 80 posts (no rating, 1 Profile View) and joined BZPower 30-March 06. I'm guessing they're a MOCist, and they have an animated avatar of what I guess is the head of their latest MOC. They last visited on the 17th of February 07. Almost a year ago. They must have been pretty early to get Nocturn. Here's a banner with their latest MOC in it. I'm sure that's OK.
  12. Hai thar, stranger! =P

  13. Well, the current computer I'm on I've been using for 4 months. The one before that still works, and has been working since February 2004. As for my really, really old computer, which still works, it's coming up to 11 years this year. =D

  21. Went to change some of my courses today before college starts on the 14th, and luckily I'll be doing what I've wanted to do all along. Yay. Oh, you wanna know what that is, right? OK. French, Graphic Design, Audio Design (within Music Contemperary course), Top Maths (for grade 11), and English. And a Maths tutorial class as well. Amounting to, oh 800 hrs for the entire year. Eheheh. So that's that. On another note, my sister asked for change for a $50 note. So I gave her most of my 5c pieces, and other coins, amounting to $49, and she gave me a dollar. I know, I'm so bad.
