  1. Listen, this is top secret stuff okay? Hapori Tohu is the guardian of all creativity - he transforms and diverts it throughout the member populace, allowing us and all others to achieve our ultimate creative potential. It is a well known fact that Hapori Tohu is all knowing, all seeing, and just in every way. Anyone who dares say otherwise will find themselves....corrected.
  2. A point of clarification: It might take me a little time to figure out what other MoCs I'll be needing exactly in the upcoming story this is for (the nature of the contest was to leave the specifics open so whatever won I could use, right?), so when I said I'll be PMing some others to ask for their permission to use their models, I meant in a sort of hazy, "at some point in the future anywhere from a few days to a month or so from now". Sorry for the lack of clarity.
  3. Speaking of which.... Another update has found itself plopped down in our midst.
  4. Small update today. Also you dorks and your monty pythons. Haha.
  5. Just so everyone knows, the results have been posted! Our winners were: 1. Paleo 2. .:Yio:. 3. The 10th Rider. Congrats to everyone, and thanks again for participating. It was a hard choice, you can read up more about in the post I made linked above.
  6. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Anyway, it's been a truly grueling experience but the winners have been decided on. The sad fact is that all three of us had a REALLY hard time coming to a single decision - everyone had their favorites and frankly I wish I had another three or four prizes to give away because there was at least that many who could have just easily been on this list. Still, we had to come to a consensus, so here our results. Each one ended up being a particular favorite for each judge, so I asked everyone to give a short write up about why they ended up picking it. In First place: Paleo's Chivalry is not dead. This MoC really proved that size isn't everything. Its sleek form and bright colors really attract the eye, and the inclusion of those flick fire missiles really sold it as a Lego set. This one was advocated for very strongly by Deevee, who had this to say about it: "It's pretty, it's clean, it's pretty, I want to see Ray draw it." In Second place: .:Yio:.'s Mini Tank. Another set that really sold us on its great silhouette. The instant readability and playful action one can envision with this build really impressed me personally. I was a strong advocate for this little guy and the cute little blasters and rollability (is that a word?) of the tires are what did it for me. In Third place: The 10th Rider's The Albino Turtle. Lest you start thinking this contest was all about the small MoCs, the Albino Turtle really stood out for its unapologetic yet sleek bulkiness as well as very creative use of parts. Tufi was a particularly strong advocate for this one, and had this to say about it: "That one's probably my favourite". Haha okay I forgot to ask her for a specific quote but you get the idea! Like I said, this was a really hard contest with a lot of great entries. It ended up being a question of what we could most agree on rather than what each of our personal top 3 were, and a few of all our choices got knocked out of the running in the name of consensus. Consequently There were a lot of models I'd still like to use in the project even though they didn't win, and if that's the case with one of yours I'll be sending a message to ask you for your permission on that. As for the winners, I will be sending out PMs relatively soon about addresses for your prizes and that sort of thing but if you want to get the ball rolling by sending me your address now, feel free haha. Thanks to everyone for their participation, I hope it was fun and maybe we can do this again next year!

Well this isn't getting nearly the love it deserves. I love what you're doing with the dynamic shading in the first comic - those heavy blacks are such a cool stylization, I love when people use them effectively. I hope you incorporate more of that into your new comic - leaving everything brightly lit flattens the image too much in my opinion. Nice work, and keep it up!
  8. I'm sorry, I didn't see that you had edited your entry. That's my mistake, but you'll notice I did post almost right below you that if you entered more models after you had already entered one you should make a new post instead of editing so I was sure to see it. I really am sorry about the mess up.
  9. I will have them put up a news article. It shouldn't be too much longer now.
  10. haha I hadn't posted about it here yet, but if the above posts weren't a good clue there's been a new update. Which concludes the megaupdate, but not the daily updates. So enjoy, and keep those commands a comin.
  11. Just so anyone who is using the board's software to follow this topic will know, we have discontinued the use of this topic for all updates because of its severely degraded state. You can still keep track of the comic's updates either by subscribing to the discussion/official thread where a link to the latest update on the mirror will be posted here, you can bookmark the comic itself here, or we have a handy dandy RSS feed you can subscribe to that will automatically tell you when new things are posted here. I'll probably go ahead and close this so that it can sink into obscurity forever. Thanks for reading so far, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy what we have next.
  12. Technically, I uploaded the next update last night to the mirrors. I think this will goodbye to the comic topic. So from now on, I'll just link to the first page of the update here.
  13. Are you ready for HARD MODE? Click for the next animation! This one here's the real labor of love, so enjoy and stay tuned, there's more on the way.
  14. Wow, talk about a cliffhanger! I want to seriously apologize for the wait my friends - to say it was out of my control would be true, but it's still not a good enough reason and I do apologize for that. I promise the content will be much more regular from now on - I've taken serious steps to assure it. In the meantime, enjoy the fruits of our labor - this is the first of three big parts of what I'm calling a the megaupdate. Thanks for reading everyone! Click me to watch the animation!
  15. Thanks for the input guys - I think we'll keep posting the next two updates up in the topic anyway but after that we'll probably quietly de-pin it and just adopt to using this topic as a catchall. If anyone else has feedback though I would love to hear it, I don't want to ruin the experience if there's someone who relies on it.
  16. It's okay, we looked at all the pictures anyway this is really just a reference for the members.
  17. Like a pheonix from the ashes, we have finally risen again to bring you the first of what I promise is going to be an absolute DELUGE of content - and fittingly, a flash animation to delight and entertain! [brian]: Fight droid to the death. The epic battle begins! Now this hasn't been mirrored yet in the topic, but it will be soon. However, I've been meaning to ask this for a little while and now seems like a good time; is there anyone who actively uses the topic as their main way to read the comic? Alternatively, would anyone be seriously miffed if we stopped updating the thread and simply linked to the latest update here in the discussion topic? The reason I am considering this is because formatting these things for the forum is a major time sink and actively delays us when people can't post their own bits on time, and in addition the thread itself is degrading quite badly with several posts completely broken. In addition it is impossible for me to go in and edit posts that aren't made by myself, meaning errors or corrections are impossible to do (or nearly, unless you're willing to send a PM every few weeks to someone begging them to go fix a misplaced period or whatever). Plus when each page begins to get longer it starts taking a dreadfully long time to load - in contrast with the mirror which displays the comic in the intended format, one page at a time, and comes with lots of easy navigation buttons on it for your use. So any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks guys, and enjoy what we've got coming next!
  18. Gosh, you are so cool for doing this! Not that many people do that in order to appease contestants. I salute you. I don't think it ended up mattering, nobody's sent in anything since I posted that. Our judges are all working on their decisions, and I've basically made mine so now all that's really left is getting together and fighting...I mean politely hashing out who wins the prizes.
  19. There were other members with similar issues - they politely sent me a PM explaining the problem and I entered them because I'm a pretty understanding guy. Maybe you guys might try something like that, or just politely post your entries here instead of posting things that are unnecessarily angry? I've basically said yes to every request anyone has posted here about the contest, if you had issues with the forums I'd probably be cool with giving you a break. But I mean it's two days later now and I'm not really willing to postpone the judging by that much so make it by today or early tomorrow after that I'm cutting this off regardless.
  20. Alright, we had some technical difficulties with the forum for a minute there, but now that we're back the entry period is officially closed! Now the judging begins...give us a week, and hopefully that should be enough time to make this really difficult decision.
  21. Holy wow, guys, I think I need to ask you all to stop making such AWESOME MoCs! You're making this contest suuuuper hard to judge and I can't afford to buy twenty prizes for everyone ;_; (just joking, keep up the good work to all! Just a few hours left now.)
  22. Dang he's so cute! and I agree, poor little E-7UDE hasn't been getting a lot of love this contest (understandably though, it's his stupid fault they lost all their ships in the first place. Useless droid.) In any case I love the complete rebuild. Probably my favorite part is the slight angle on his little legs - it adds a lot of personality. Nice job as always, and again, good luck!
  23. Wow that's quite a deluge of entries! No doubt thanks to us entering the final hours of the contest - tonight at midnight EST the entries will be shut down, so if you've got something last minute you want to enter now's the time! Thanks guys, it's been great seeing all these great MoCs and I really can't wait to start working them into these future projects I've got cooking.
  24. I'm sorry, there won't be any more extensions. I'd still love to see the model when you do get a chance to take photos of course, but this contest by design is to be finished by the new year.
