  1. IC: Beth One second, Beth was taking her first step towards the safehouse. The next, she was on her knees, leaning against the car's open door and clutching what was left of her shoulder near the spot where her flesh ended and her robotic arm began. Getting shot hadn't hurt quite as much as she thought it would have, but , it still hurt. As much as the pain blurred her thoughts, she still had enough sense to know that the shooter was probably lining up the next shot. With what little strength she had left, she threw her weight to the side and fell into the car's backseat. Somewhat fortunately, the poison-tipped round had buried itself in the part of her shoulder made of plastic and metal. Less fortunately, however, the impact had dislodged a fragment of the metal, and that fragment had nicked an artery on its way out of her shoulder. The poison was unlikely to kill her, but she was rapidly losing blood.
  2. IC: Beth "Sweet." Beth carefully stepped out of the car and looked around. "You're sure this place is safe?"
  3. IC: Beth Beth folded her arms behind her head and leaned back in the seat. She idly looked out the window and stared at the sky. It was funny--despite the fact that she was several hundred meters underground, the city lights that dotted the ceiling of the massive cavern that was subterranean Karantin almost looked to her like stars. "Aruuuugala." Beef's voice snapped her out of her trance. "Something happen?"
  4. IC: U! Julia Julia lunged at a HYDRA soldier, stretching her claws out towards him, ready to tear out his throat. There was a thunderous sound and a sharp, burning pain in her shoulder as the panicked shot grazed her flesh. She let it fuel her rage as she continued forwards, knocking the gun aside with one hand and stabbing with the other. The gunman hit the ground clutching his bleeding trachea, but by then, Julia had already pounced on another.
  5. Approved! In other news, for now, I'll be taking a backseat in the RPG. I have a TON of school work to get caught up on. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on board in a little while, but until then, Perp is in charge.
  6. IC: U! Julia Julia took a deep breath. God, she really was acting like a , wasn't she? "Look, I'm sorry," she said. "I'm sure know her a lot better than I do."
  7. IC: U! Julia It took longer for Julia to reply than it should have, if only because she didn't realize at first that the Dallas that had spoken wasn't the one she knew. "Whatever you say, kid." She realized after the fact how condescending she sounded, though she hadn't meant it. For all she knew, this version of Dallas was older than her. Heck, she didn't even remember how old her Dallas was. It was a side-effect of surviving the war against the Phalanx; anyone who hadn't been through those dark days automatically seemed...younger, somehow, to her. But what had been said had been said, and she braced herself for whatever retort this other Dallas would prepare for her. Then her phone started to warm up and make noise, and she reddened. "You think you're funny, don't you?" She said, returning Alex's icy stare.
  8. IC: Julia "No." Julia's parallel-universe counterpart stopped at the doorway and turned to look at her doppelganger. "What do you mean, no?" she said. The other Julia hugged her knees to her chest and leaned against the wall behind her. "I mean no. I'm not going. I...I can't." "You...can't?" Julia sighed. "I can't go out there. I can't...fight anymore." "People are dying--people we could be saving--and you're just gonna sit here and mope?" There was a long pause. Parallel-Universe Julia shrugged. "Okay." Then, she was gone. Julia sighed again, too ashamed to let out a tear. Meanwhile, the other Jules found a seat on the blackbird. "Parallel universe me is a wuss."
  9. IC: Julia Julia smiled back. "I'm alright, thanks. Just glad I could help."
  10. IC: Maksim "Finally." Maksim stood, leaving his food at the table. "Where should we go, then?"
  11. IC: Julia Julia hugged her knees to her chest. "Beleive me, Dallas," she said. "what you're describing--reveling in the suffering of someone who wronged you--it's not as fulfilling as you think. In Canada, there was nothing I wanted more than to see that Colonel 's blood spill. I wanted to be there when he died. I...I wanted to see the look in his eyes as he watched his life's work fall apart." Her tone was flat, but Dallas would no doubt feel the weight of the sorrow she was suppressing. Her hands tightened into fists and her bone claws poked through her fingertips, digging into her palms. "When I found out he'd been killed in the chaos of the breakout, I just felt...empty. I'd spent so long nursing that grudge, and all the energy I'd put into my hatred just...drained away the moment I learned of his death. You don't know how much I'd give to have that energy back--to use it for something less petty and wasteful."
  12. IC: Julia Julia wrapped her arms around her abdomen and stared at the floor, completely at a loss. The silence persisted for a long time while she searched for the right words. "You aren't awful," she said finally. "God, Dallas, you're one of the nicest people I know." She sat next to him on the bed. "You shouldn't feel bad for letting what Nicole did affect you. She raped you, for Christ's sake. We've all suffered, and we all have different ways of dealing with it. Having a hard time putting something like that behind you doesn't make you a bad person."
  13. IC: Julia "Alex?" said Julia. "He says he doesn't think you get what he went through, but it seems like he's willing to try and help you--and help everyone--understand." Her eyes idly scanned the room, noting all the items scattered across the floor. "And honestly, I'd be more worried about you. What really happened? I mean...if you don't mind me asking."
  14. IC: Maksim Maksim blushed harder. "Look, I can't say it aloud in here," he said, glancing at a security camera.
  15. IC: Maksim Maksim's cheeks reddened. "I assure you, it's something far less trivial than that."
  16. IC: Julia Julia cautiously opened the door and stepped inside. She was greeted by a child's bedroom--Dallas's, she guessed. Three of the walls were painted blue, but the one she faced as she entered was purple, and in the center, Dallas lay there, facing the purple wall. She nearly tripped over a blue drum decorated with garish hot-rod flame patterns as she approached him. "Uh...hi."
  17. IC: Julia Julia knocked on the door to the Danger Room again, harder this time. "Dallas? I heard something happened, and...I guess I just wanted to make sure you were OK."
  18. IC: Maksim Maksim sat at the table. "Look," he said. "there are a lot of people who want to get their hands on this--" He tapped the cardboard box. "--and in your position, most of them would've shot me and taken it already." He gave the restaurant another nervous scan. "Point is, can we hurry this along? Or at least eat somewhere less...monitored?"
  19. IC: U! Julia Julia shrugged and grabbed herself a slice. "So, aside from Dallas, who else is showing up?" IC: Julia Julia had known something was amiss the moment she returned to the Manor. People were on edge, and the staff seemed cold and occupied, as if their minds were elsewhere. From the rumor mill, she had gathered that whatever incident had occurred, it had involved Dallas, Ashley, Nicole, and a few others, and it had been far worse than the usual drama. There was a knock at the Danger Room door. "Dallas?"
  20. IC: U! Julia "Screw Dallas, I missed lunch."
  21. IC: U! Julia Julia made her way up to the party room, trusting that Kristen was following. She went straight for the pizza.
  22. IC: U! Julia Julia looked up. "What do you say we just go get some pizza?"
  23. IC: U! Julia There were so many things Julia wanted to say. What if it isn't a good thing, Kristen? What if I end up hurting you like I did Dallas? What if? What if? What if? Yet she stayed silent.
  24. IC: U! Julia Julia had thought her face couldn't have gotten any redder. She had been wrong. "M...maybe...?"
  25. IC: U! Julia Julia raised her head a bit. "No, no, it's not like that," she said. "I definitely want to be friends, and the fact that you're into chicks won't change that. I just...I'm confused, okay? I mean, I...I'm starting to...get these feelings that I haven't felt in a long time and...and I'm just kind of..." She took a breath. "Look, point is, I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at myself."
