  1. Thanks for the feedback! I think I would like to do a few more covers from the 2001-2003 series.
  2. Here are a couple photo manipulations I've done in the time since my last post here: Kongu's Nightmare Divided We Fall A recreation of this comic cover. -- Without any text
  3. These are all really awesome! The photography is exceptional, and every shot is interesting. You did a great job on the effects too, from the obvious dissolving effect to even the more subtle sword and eye glow effects. Really well done. I really like the composition in Nokama and the Bordahk, but my favorite has to be the Jaller shot. That is quite a beautiful environment.
  4. I just built out a Mac version and added it to the original post! I don't have any Mac computers to test it on, but in theory it should work the same.
  5. Hectic Hoi: The Game Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mxjdjkgki636fww/HecticGame.zip?dl=0 Download for Mac: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k9fbjrd54ddb0iv/HecticMac.app.zip?dl=0 I came up with a silly idea for a small multiplayer game to try out the Unity 3D game engine. After many hours of network coding and head-scratching, it mostly works! You play as a Bionicle shore turtle trying to eat the most bula berries. Watch out, because other players can run into you and knock you both in opposite directions! There is a power-up you can grab that provides a little bit of protection. You can join a multiplayer match online over the Unity-provided server, or you can play over a Local Area Network. Instructions are at the bottom of this post. As my first game (and as a multiplayer game), it is a bit glitchy, but I hope you can enjoy it for what it is, and have fun! Here are a few images: Known issues: Players can desychronize when moving too fast or an internet connection is slow, leading to different final tallies for players. Players cannot join a game already in session. Players listed as still in match even after they left. Players that idle in a match lobby get kicked after a few minutes. High scores might occasionally be recorded as one less than they should be. If running on an older machine, the start screen might show only a blank, blue screen? If you run into problems with being unable to rejoin or completely leave a lobby, just start a new match. INSTRUCTIONS: INSTALL ------------------- Extract both HecticHoi.exe and the HecticHoi_Data folder from the zip archive to a new folder. TO PLAY ------------------- 1. Open HecticHoi.exe 2. Check 'Windowed' on the Config popup to switch between Fullscreen and Windowed mode as desired. Set the resolution and graphics quality to desired setting and click 'Play'! NOTE: If prompted by your antivirus to give permission to bypass firewall, don't bother. It should probably work regardless. 3. You can either play online on the Unity-provided server, or offline on a Local Area Network. Click Online Play or Offline Play to show your options. To host an online game server: Enter a match name in the text box under 'Host a Game' and click the 'Create' button. To join an online game: Click the 'List Servers' button. Find a server you want to join on the list, and click 'Join'. If you see "No Servers Found", try clicking 'Next' to refresh the list, or host your own. To host an offline game server: Click 'Play and Host'. To join an offline game over LAN: In the text box under 'Join a Game', enter the IP Address of the computer which is hosting a game and click 'Join'. 4. On the Lobby screen, your character will be highlighted grey on the list. Click the box under 'Color' to choose a color for your character. Click the text box under 'Player Name' and enter a name for your character. Click 'Join' when ready to start the game. Once every player in the room is marked as 'Ready', the game will begin. At any point in this process you can click 'Back' at the top of the screen to go to the previous screen. 5. Use the arrow keys or the WASD keys to move your turtle around. Walk over a red berry to eat it, and walk into the floating mask to put it on. Running into another turtle will cause you both to bounce back. Wearing the mask will give you limited ability to repel other turtles for a short time. Eat as many bula berries as you can! To change your name in-game, click the text box at the bottom left of the screen, enter a new name, and click 'Change'. To turn off the music, click the square button at the bottom right of the screen. Once all the berries are eaten, the final tally screen will appear. You can clear your high score by clicking the 'Clear High Score' on the main menu screen. TO QUIT -------------------- Click red 'X' button at top right of the screen to quit the application. If in-game: Press the ESC key to bring up the green header and either click the red 'X' button to quit the application or the 'Back' button to go back to the lobby screen.
  6. Glad it helped, and good luck with the stop motion! Of course! You can check out either http://keyblade87.deviantart.com/gallery/ or https://oldboneandbogfoot.tumblr.com/tagged/oldboneandbogfoot I'll update the original post with it as well.
  7. No volcanoes, sadly. Not that it has stopped me in the past, though: http://i.imgur.com/hhINdYB.jpg Thanks! If you have the urge to take some cool Bionicle photos, I say go for it! All you really need to have is something to take a picture of, and some practice.
  8. In between experimenting with 3D-printing and other artistic ventures over the past year, I have still been taking Bionicle pictures. Here's some photos/photo manipulations I have been working on, inspired by MNOLG, the GBA games, and more. Also, here's a few 'Before' shots if you want to compare and see what went into the edits. 9. Here is my take on the G2 Vahi, Mask of Time. I based it off the official artwork of the mask, but with some tweaks to get it to match the G1 Vahi a little better. The mask grants the wearer visions of the future and the ability to tap into the power of time. It was designed to be worn along with the official lower-half Kanohi of Time on a 2001 head. PLEASE NOTE: This mask is only designed to work with 2001 Mata Bionicle heads. It will rest loosely atop the head until you put on the lower-half Kanohi of Time to keep it snugly in place. My custom Vahi is available here on Shapeways. Also check out: Inorganic Kanohi Suletu Inorganic Kanohi Calix
  10. This is an amazingly accurate rendition of the Hau Nuva, but what I like especially about it is the subtle cracks and chips giving it a little more of that ancient, legendary feeling. Very neat!
  11. Ok, here is sheet music I wrote down for the middle part that includes the choir bit. Hopefully that's not confusing (that's a G sharp in the key signature, if you can't tell). Unfortunately, I don't really know how to write drum sheet music, but maybe I can come up with something for that part soon.
  12. I made this with LMMS. Here is some sheet music I wrote down for the main 2015 theme.
  13. This time I modeled the Kanohi Calix - Mask of Fate - in its original, inorganic form. The mask that allows the wearer to perform at the peak of their physical abilities and pull off seemingly impossible feats of athleticism. This is my idea of what the mask looked like before becoming the mutated version Jaller Inika used. When designing it, I tried to preserve the most recognizable features of the official organic Calix while giving it the sleeker aethstetic of the other Kanohi. Perfectly suited for any Toa of Fire or Psionics. I intend to eventually create all six inika Kanohi in this way. My custom Kanohi Calix is available here on Shapeways. Here is the topic of my custom Kanohi Suletu in the same style and also on Shapeways.
  14. I decided to remake and remix a couple of the official Bionicle themes into one with the help of a friend, and here are the results! The Toa Return (Bionicle 2015 Theme) on Bandcamp, or Soundcloud (if you prefer).
  15. Haha, looks like Lewa was really enjoying himself! This is really great. Good job constructing those backgrounds and animations, they looked professional. Also, fantastic use of Lewa11's Lewa music. You pulled off exactly what I had visualized when I first heard the song.
  16. I took a photo of Tahu's right leg separately from the rest of his body, and then carefully cut it out in Photoshop. From there, I simply had to cut out the upper part of the leg and arrange it in the bent position. The background there was a bit complex. I combined a bunch of photos in Photoshop to construct it. I first took a photo of a bohrok canister lid, and copied it multiple times to create a whole hive wall. Next, I overlaid a picture of some billowing smoke and applied the colors I wanted, making sure to add a blur to give an impression of depth to the picture. Then, I did some cutting and pasting to turn the stair Tahu was standing on into a cracked, rocky floor. To finish it off, I added some wispy transparent smoke on top to add to the atmosphere. I plan to do more, and you can find all the pictures I have done at my gallery here: http://keyblade87.deviantart.com/gallery/ Well, I did 'remake' a few comic panels previously, here. You might be interested in checking that out. Were the Tohunga's arms done in the same way? Some of them were done that way, such as the Ignalu Lava Surfing one. For some of the others, I used a colored wire twist-tie to hold the arms on in a more natural position. Thank you everyone for the kind comments!
  17. You can use the Color Replacement Tool to simply brush over what you want to recolor. You can also use Replace Color under Adjustments to recolor particular colored areas. For example, you could use Replace Color to change Tahnok's blue eyes to green eyes, but if there are any other blue colors in the picture, you'll have to make a selection to specify the eyes only.
  18. Hmm, that gives me some interesting ideas... I took a photo of Tahu's right leg separately from the rest of his body, and then carefully cut it out in Photoshop. From there, I simply had to cut out the upper part of the leg and arrange it in the bent position.
  19. Here are several photos/photo manipulations that I have been working on over the past year, covering mostly the early years of Bionicle, but also one from the current line. The Bohrok Awake! 20. Wow, this is awesome. Using those planets aligned in the background was an inspired idea for 2016. I feel like the big protector and skull masks in the background look somewhat photo-realistic and clash very slightly with the rest of the painted-style. However, I do realize you were pressed for time. The end result is really quite beautiful.
  21. This is amazing, you captured the style of the original comics exactly, right down to the cracks and line-scuffs. One thing I noticed was that the 4-point lens flares were not all aligned in the same direction. Nevertheless, it is really cool art you've done!

  23. This is my poster for the Journey to Netflix contest. To "sum up what BIONICLE is about in a single image", I did the first thing that came to my mind: a legend of heroes carved into ancient ruins. High-resolution version
  24. Fantastic scenes! The lighting is good and the ferns and plants all look like they could be Matoran-scale. I also like the colorful stone you used. If you want a challenge, try making a Ta-Wahi scene!
